Definitions
- the invention relates to a vacuum cleaner, preferably a hand-held vacuum cleaner, according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
- the cleaning devices include the vacuum cleaner, which sucks in air and dirt from a surface and can release the air at least essentially cleaned of dirt to the outside.
- Such vacuum cleaners can be connected to a power outlet with a cord for operation.
- battery-powered vacuum cleaners that have a rechargeable battery or an accumulator as a rechargeable electrical energy store are also known and widespread.
- the comparatively compact and lightweight handheld vacuum cleaners are often battery-operated to allow the user to use them more quickly and easily.
- a vacuum cleaner has a fan that can generate the air flow.
- a negative pressure can be generated on the intake side of the blower, which can ensure that air flows in; this section of the vacuum cleaner can also be referred to as the vacuum area of the vacuum cleaner.
- the filter can hold back dirt such as dust, especially house dust, and other smaller particles from the air flow and thereby filter the air flow, which can then leave the vacuum cleaner cleaner than when it is sucked in. This allows the surface to be cleaned of dirt.
- the substrate can be any surface such as a floor or its floor covering.
- the air flow including dirt can be guided directly via a suction nozzle as a suction opening, which is part of the vacuum cleaner itself.
- the suction nozzle which can also be referred to as a floor nozzle, can also be connected to the vacuum cleaner via a suction hose and, if necessary, via an additional telescopic tube; in this case, the vacuum cleaner and other components can such as suction nozzle, suction hose and, if applicable, telescopic tube are also referred to together as a vacuum cleaner system.
- the suction nozzle can be guided by a user over an underground in order to pick up dirt from there with the sucked-in air.
- a brush can be arranged in the area of the suction nozzle, which can be driven in rotation in order to brush the surface to be cleaned and thereby loosen dirt, for example from the fibers of a carpet, so that the loosened dirt can be removed more effectively by the air flow .
- This brush can also be called a floor brush or brush roller.
- the fan of such vacuum cleaners is usually operated by an electric motor.
- brushless electric motors are often used, which have no slip rings or commutators and brushes between the rotor and stator, which can wear out. Therefore, brushless electric motors usually have a longer service life or a longer service life than electric motors with brushes. This can have a correspondingly positive effect on the service life or the service life of the vacuum cleaner. Also, brushless electric motors usually have a higher power than brushed electric motors.
- the floor brush can also be operated with an electric motor, which, however, is usually designed with brushes, i.e. as an electric motor with brushes, for reasons of cost.
- both electric motors of such a vacuum cleaner each with a separate control unit or with a separate controller, i. H. both electric motors each have a control unit or a controller which can only control or regulate the respective electric motor.
- the electric motors of such vacuum cleaners are usually regulated by their respective control unit to a constant voltage on the respective electric motor as a function of the voltage source. With battery-operated vacuum cleaners, the output voltage of the battery is regulated.
- control units leads to corresponding costs. Both control units also require space and consume electrical energy, which is limited in a battery-operated vacuum cleaner. Furthermore, communication between the two control units is required, which can mean additional expense in terms of material costs, assembly costs, installation space and electrical energy requirements.
- the WO 2014/199137 A1 describes a vacuum cleaner with a suction source, a suction head and a controller.
- the suction source includes an impeller and a first motor for driving the impeller
- the cleaning head includes an agitator and a second motor for driving the agitator.
- the first motor is a brushless motor and the second motor is a brushed motor.
- the controller is configured to generate control signals to control energization of the first motor and the second motor simultaneously.
- the vacuum cleaner includes a voltage sensor that provides the control unit with a measure of the magnitude of a supply voltage used to energize the first motor and the second motor.
- the control unit generates the control signals so that the output power of the first motor is constant and the input voltage to the second motor is constant in response to changes in the supply voltage.
- the disadvantage of controlling the electric motor of the floor brush to a constant voltage is that the speed of the floor brush can be reduced if the floor brush is subjected to a load. Such a load can occur, for example, if the floor brush is guided over a carpet, in particular one with densely arranged fibers, as the substrate. This can correspondingly reduce the cleaning effect or the cleaning performance of the floor brush.
- the invention therefore faces the problem of making available a vacuum cleaner which can also be operated effectively on a surface that is difficult to clean.
- This should preferably be as simple, inexpensive, space-saving and/or energy-saving as possible.
- This should preferably be implemented for battery-operated vacuum cleaners. At least an alternative to known vacuum cleaners of this type should be created.
- the invention thus relates to a vacuum cleaner, preferably a hand-held vacuum cleaner, with a fan with an impeller for generating an air flow, with a first electric motor for driving the impeller of the fan, with a suction nozzle with a rotatable brush and with a second electric motor for driving the rotatable brush.
- the vacuum cleaner is characterized in that the vacuum cleaner is designed to operate the second electric motor in a speed-controlled manner at a predetermined target speed, the control unit also being designed to operate the first electric motor. This can be done, for example, as described below.
- the invention is based on the finding that the speed of the second electric motor of the floor brush and thus its cleaning effect or cleaning performance can be reduced if the floor brush is subjected to a comparatively high load, for example through contact with a very thick carpet.
- the constantly regulated voltage of the second electric motor cannot counteract such a load and can keep the speed constant or high enough to achieve the desired or at least an acceptable cleaning effect in this situation.
- the speed of the second electric motor is therefore regulated to a predetermined desired speed, as a result of which the rotatable brush can be operated at or close to the predetermined desired speed.
- the second electric motor can at least essentially reach and maintain the predetermined target speed even if comparatively large and/or fluctuating loads occur on the rotatable brush. Accordingly, the desired cleaning result can be achieved or improved.
- the vacuum cleaner is designed to detect an actual speed of the second electric motor
- the vacuum cleaner has a control unit which is designed to detect the detected actual speed of the second electric motor and the predetermined target speed of the second to obtain electric motor and to operate the second electric motor depending on the difference between actual speed and target speed. This can enable speed-controlled operation of the second electric motor to be implemented.
- the predetermined target speed of the second electric motor is constant. This can enable constant cleaning performance, even on different or changing surfaces.
- the predetermined setpoint speed of the second electric motor can be specified and/or changed by a user. This can be done, for example, by means of a corresponding operating element of the vacuum cleaner, which can preferably be set or changed manually by the user. This can be done, for example, by means of a rotary knob or the like.
- the settings can be made in steps or continuously. This allows the user Influencing the speed of the rotatable brush and thus its cleaning performance as well as the electrical energy consumed as a result and the noise level generated as a result.
- the predetermined setpoint speed of the second electric motor can be specified and/or changed by the vacuum cleaner automatically as a function of a detected surface. This can enable the target speed of the second electric motor to be set independently depending on the respective surface.
- the subsoil can, for example, be recognized independently by the vacuum cleaner or its control unit through the change in the values or through the currently present values of different physical variables.
- the control unit is also designed to operate the first electric motor.
- both the first electric motor and the second electric motor can be operated by the same control unit.
- a second control unit for the first electric motor can be dispensed with. This can save costs for the purchase and installation of an additional control unit.
- the space required can also be reduced as a result. This can also have an advantageous effect on reduced energy consumption by the vacuum cleaner. It is also advantageous that the data from two control units or from two controllers can be evaluated more poorly than the data from a single control unit or from a single controller, in order to provide automatically running or executable functions in the vacuum cleaner.
- control unit is also designed to operate the first electric motor in a power-controlled manner with a predetermined setpoint power.
- the first electric motor of the fan can be operated at a predetermined and in particular at a constant target power.
- the vacuum cleaner is designed to detect an actual power of the first electric motor
- the control unit is designed to receive the detected actual power of the first electric motor and the predetermined target power of the first electric motor and to operate the first electric motor depending on the difference between the actual power and the target power. This can enable the implementation of power-controlled operation of the first electric motor.
- control unit is also designed to operate the first electric motor in a speed-controlled manner at a predetermined setpoint speed.
- the first electric motor of the fan can be operated at a predetermined target speed comparable to the second electric motor of the rotatable brush.
- the vacuum cleaner is designed to detect an actual speed of the first electric motor
- the control unit is designed to receive the detected actual speed of the first electric motor and the predetermined target speed of the first electric motor and to operate the first electric motor depending on the difference between the actual speed and the target speed. This can enable speed-controlled operation of the first electric motor to be implemented.
- the vacuum cleaner preferably a control unit, is designed to operate the first electric motor with pulse width modulation at a variable frequency, the variable PWM frequency being an integer multiple of the rotating field frequency of the first electric motor. This can be a way to operate the first electric motor.
- the vacuum cleaner preferably the control unit, is designed to operate the second electric motor with pulse width modulation at a variable frequency, the variable PWM frequency of the second electric motor being synchronous with the variable PWM frequency of the first electric motor. This can enable pulse width modulated operation of the second electric motor as well.
- the first electric motor is designed to be brushless. This can increase the performance and/or the longevity of the first electric motor of the blower.
- the second electric motor is designed to be brushless or has brushes.
- the second electric motor of the rotatable brush can have a comparatively high output and/or a comparatively long service life. If the second electric motor is designed with brushes, this can reduce the procurement costs.
- the vacuum cleaner has a rechargeable electrical energy store which is designed to supply the first electrical motor and the second electrical motor, preferably and a control unit, with electricity.
- the rechargeable electrical energy store can in particular be an accumulator or an accumulator. This can allow the user to use the vacuum cleaner without an inconvenient electric power cord.
- a longitudinal direction X which can also be referred to as depth X or length X, extends.
- a transverse direction (not shown), which can also be referred to as width, extends perpendicular to the longitudinal direction X.
- a vertical direction Z which can also be referred to as the height Z, extends perpendicularly both to the longitudinal direction X and to the transverse direction.
- the figure 1 shows a schematic side view of a vacuum cleaner 1 according to the invention in the form of a hand-held vacuum cleaner 1.
- the hand-held vacuum cleaner 1 has a housing 10 which can be held and guided by a user by means of a handle 11.
- a fan 12 together with a first electric motor 12a for driving the fan 12 is arranged in the housing 10 .
- the first electric motor 12a is brushless.
- At least one filter and one blow-out opening are also present (not shown).
- a suction pipe 13 is arranged on the housing 10 opposite the handle 11 .
- a suction nozzle 14 which can also be referred to as a floor nozzle 14 or as a brush head 14 .
- the suction nozzle 14 has an interior which is designed to be open downwards in the vertical direction Z by means of an opening 16 which can also be referred to as a suction opening 16 .
- a rotatable brush 15 is arranged inside the interior of the suction nozzle 14 and can be driven in rotation by means of a second electric motor 15a.
- the second electric motor 15a is also brushless.
- the hand-held vacuum cleaner 1 also has a control unit 17 which can operate both the first electric motor 12a and the second electric motor 15a. This can be done in particular via pulse width modeled signals. The actual speed of the second electric motor 15a can be detected by sensors and this information can be made available to the control unit 17 . Furthermore, the control unit 17 can be given a target speed, for example fixed or variable, for example by the user using an adjustable operating element (not shown).
- the control unit 17 can compare the actual speed and the setpoint speed with one another and, depending on the difference, accordingly specify the pulse width modeled signals that the desired setpoint speed of the second electric motor 15a can be achieved.
- the first electric motor 12a can be comparatively speed-controlled or be operated by the control unit 17 in a power-controlled manner.
- the first electric motor 12a, the second electric motor 15a and the control unit 17 can be electrically supplied by a rechargeable electric energy store 18.
- the hand-held vacuum cleaner 1 can be placed by a user on a surface 2, such as a floor 2 or on a floor covering 2, such as a carpet, with the suction nozzle 14 and moved back and forth in the longitudinal direction X in order to clean the floor 2 vacuum as a surface to be cleaned 2 and thereby cleaned.

- an air flow is sucked in by the blower 12, which can reach the environment via the suction opening 16 into the suction nozzle 14 and from there via the suction pipe 13 to the blower 12 and through at least one filter.
- dirt particles such as dust, crumbs and the like are conveyed from the floor 2 into the air flow by the rotating brush 15 , so that the cleaning effect on the floor 2 can be intensified by the rotating brush 15 .
- the speed-controlled operation of the second electric motor 15a can ensure, even with different surfaces 2, that the cleaning of the surface 2 takes place at the desired speed, as a result of which the desired cleaning effect or cleaning performance can also be achieved.

Description
The invention relates to a vacuum cleaner, preferably a hand-held vacuum cleaner, according to the preamble of
The cleaning devices include the vacuum cleaner, which sucks in air and dirt from a surface and can release the air at least essentially cleaned of dirt to the outside. Such vacuum cleaners can be connected to a power outlet with a cord for operation. However, it can be more convenient for the user not to have to worry about the cable when vacuuming, which is why battery-powered vacuum cleaners that have a rechargeable battery or an accumulator as a rechargeable electrical energy store are also known and widespread. In particular, the comparatively compact and lightweight handheld vacuum cleaners are often battery-operated to allow the user to use them more quickly and easily.
A vacuum cleaner has a fan that can generate the air flow. As a result, a negative pressure can be generated on the intake side of the blower, which can ensure that air flows in; this section of the vacuum cleaner can also be referred to as the vacuum area of the vacuum cleaner.
On the opposite side of the blower, towards which the air flow is directed, there is usually at least one filter or filter system, through which the air flow is passed. This section of the vacuum cleaner can also be referred to as the overpressure area of the vacuum cleaner. The filter can hold back dirt such as dust, especially house dust, and other smaller particles from the air flow and thereby filter the air flow, which can then leave the vacuum cleaner cleaner than when it is sucked in. This allows the surface to be cleaned of dirt. The substrate can be any surface such as a floor or its floor covering.
Depending on the design of the vacuum cleaner, the air flow including dirt can be guided directly via a suction nozzle as a suction opening, which is part of the vacuum cleaner itself. However, the suction nozzle, which can also be referred to as a floor nozzle, can also be connected to the vacuum cleaner via a suction hose and, if necessary, via an additional telescopic tube; in this case, the vacuum cleaner and other components can such as suction nozzle, suction hose and, if applicable, telescopic tube are also referred to together as a vacuum cleaner system. In any case, the suction nozzle can be guided by a user over an underground in order to pick up dirt from there with the sucked-in air.
To improve the cleaning effect, a brush can be arranged in the area of the suction nozzle, which can be driven in rotation in order to brush the surface to be cleaned and thereby loosen dirt, for example from the fibers of a carpet, so that the loosened dirt can be removed more effectively by the air flow . This can improve the cleaning efficiency of the vacuum cleaner. This brush can also be called a floor brush or brush roller.
The fan of such vacuum cleaners is usually operated by an electric motor. For this purpose, brushless electric motors are often used, which have no slip rings or commutators and brushes between the rotor and stator, which can wear out. Therefore, brushless electric motors usually have a longer service life or a longer service life than electric motors with brushes. This can have a correspondingly positive effect on the service life or the service life of the vacuum cleaner. Also, brushless electric motors usually have a higher power than brushed electric motors.
The floor brush can also be operated with an electric motor, which, however, is usually designed with brushes, i.e. as an electric motor with brushes, for reasons of cost.
It is known to operate both electric motors of such a vacuum cleaner, each with a separate control unit or with a separate controller, i. H. both electric motors each have a control unit or a controller which can only control or regulate the respective electric motor. The electric motors of such vacuum cleaners are usually regulated by their respective control unit to a constant voltage on the respective electric motor as a function of the voltage source. With battery-operated vacuum cleaners, the output voltage of the battery is regulated.
The disadvantage here is that the use of two such control units leads to corresponding costs. Both control units also require space and consume electrical energy, which is limited in a battery-operated vacuum cleaner. Furthermore, communication between the two control units is required, which can mean additional expense in terms of material costs, assembly costs, installation space and electrical energy requirements.
It is therefore known to use only one control unit or one controller for both electric motors of such a vacuum cleaner, so that the costs, the need for installation space and the electrical energy consumption can be reduced.
The disadvantage of controlling the electric motor of the floor brush to a constant voltage is that the speed of the floor brush can be reduced if the floor brush is subjected to a load. Such a load can occur, for example, if the floor brush is guided over a carpet, in particular one with densely arranged fibers, as the substrate. This can correspondingly reduce the cleaning effect or the cleaning performance of the floor brush.
The invention therefore faces the problem of making available a vacuum cleaner which can also be operated effectively on a surface that is difficult to clean. This should preferably be as simple, inexpensive, space-saving and/or energy-saving as possible. This should preferably be implemented for battery-operated vacuum cleaners. At least an alternative to known vacuum cleaners of this type should be created.
According to the invention, this problem is solved by a vacuum cleaner having the features of
The invention thus relates to a vacuum cleaner, preferably a hand-held vacuum cleaner, with a fan with an impeller for generating an air flow, with a first electric motor for driving the impeller of the fan, with a suction nozzle with a rotatable brush and with a second electric motor for driving the rotatable brush.
The vacuum cleaner is characterized in that the vacuum cleaner is designed to operate the second electric motor in a speed-controlled manner at a predetermined target speed, the control unit also being designed to operate the first electric motor. This can be done, for example, as described below.
The invention is based on the finding that the speed of the second electric motor of the floor brush and thus its cleaning effect or cleaning performance can be reduced if the floor brush is subjected to a comparatively high load, for example through contact with a very thick carpet. The constantly regulated voltage of the second electric motor cannot counteract such a load and can keep the speed constant or high enough to achieve the desired or at least an acceptable cleaning effect in this situation.
According to the invention, the speed of the second electric motor is therefore regulated to a predetermined desired speed, as a result of which the rotatable brush can be operated at or close to the predetermined desired speed. Correspondingly, the second electric motor can at least essentially reach and maintain the predetermined target speed even if comparatively large and/or fluctuating loads occur on the rotatable brush. Accordingly, the desired cleaning result can be achieved or improved.
According to one aspect of the invention, the vacuum cleaner is designed to detect an actual speed of the second electric motor, and the vacuum cleaner has a control unit which is designed to detect the detected actual speed of the second electric motor and the predetermined target speed of the second to obtain electric motor and to operate the second electric motor depending on the difference between actual speed and target speed. This can enable speed-controlled operation of the second electric motor to be implemented.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the predetermined target speed of the second electric motor is constant. This can enable constant cleaning performance, even on different or changing surfaces.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the predetermined setpoint speed of the second electric motor can be specified and/or changed by a user. This can be done, for example, by means of a corresponding operating element of the vacuum cleaner, which can preferably be set or changed manually by the user. This can be done, for example, by means of a rotary knob or the like. The settings can be made in steps or continuously. This allows the user Influencing the speed of the rotatable brush and thus its cleaning performance as well as the electrical energy consumed as a result and the noise level generated as a result.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the predetermined setpoint speed of the second electric motor can be specified and/or changed by the vacuum cleaner automatically as a function of a detected surface. This can enable the target speed of the second electric motor to be set independently depending on the respective surface. The subsoil can, for example, be recognized independently by the vacuum cleaner or its control unit through the change in the values or through the currently present values of different physical variables.
The control unit is also designed to operate the first electric motor. In other words, both the first electric motor and the second electric motor can be operated by the same control unit. As a result, a second control unit for the first electric motor can be dispensed with. This can save costs for the purchase and installation of an additional control unit. The space required can also be reduced as a result.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the control unit is also designed to operate the first electric motor in a power-controlled manner with a predetermined setpoint power. In this way, the first electric motor of the fan can be operated at a predetermined and in particular at a constant target power.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the vacuum cleaner is designed to detect an actual power of the first electric motor, and the control unit is designed to receive the detected actual power of the first electric motor and the predetermined target power of the first electric motor and to operate the first electric motor depending on the difference between the actual power and the target power. This can enable the implementation of power-controlled operation of the first electric motor.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the control unit is also designed to operate the first electric motor in a speed-controlled manner at a predetermined setpoint speed. In this case, the first electric motor of the fan can be operated at a predetermined target speed comparable to the second electric motor of the rotatable brush.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the vacuum cleaner is designed to detect an actual speed of the first electric motor, and the control unit is designed to receive the detected actual speed of the first electric motor and the predetermined target speed of the first electric motor and to operate the first electric motor depending on the difference between the actual speed and the target speed. This can enable speed-controlled operation of the first electric motor to be implemented.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the vacuum cleaner, preferably a control unit, is designed to operate the first electric motor with pulse width modulation at a variable frequency, the variable PWM frequency being an integer multiple of the rotating field frequency of the first electric motor. This can be a way to operate the first electric motor.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the vacuum cleaner, preferably the control unit, is designed to operate the second electric motor with pulse width modulation at a variable frequency, the variable PWM frequency of the second electric motor being synchronous with the variable PWM frequency of the first electric motor. This can enable pulse width modulated operation of the second electric motor as well.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the first electric motor is designed to be brushless. This can increase the performance and/or the longevity of the first electric motor of the blower.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the second electric motor is designed to be brushless or has brushes. As a brushless electric motor, the second electric motor of the rotatable brush can have a comparatively high output and/or a comparatively long service life. If the second electric motor is designed with brushes, this can reduce the procurement costs.
According to a further aspect of the invention, the vacuum cleaner has a rechargeable electrical energy store which is designed to supply the first electrical motor and the second electrical motor, preferably and a control unit, with electricity. The rechargeable electrical energy store can in particular be an accumulator or an accumulator. This can allow the user to use the vacuum cleaner without an inconvenient electric power cord.

The hand-held
The
The hand-held
