Description

    Field of the Invention
  • The present invention relates to a hinge mechanism which enables opening and closing of the doors of household appliances.
  • Background of the Invention
  • In appliances that have doored structures such as refrigerators, ovens and deep freezers; hinge mechanisms which enable attaching the doors to the body of the appliance, and enable them to be opened and closed around an axis passing through the said edges. Besides having enough endurance to carry appliance bodies having doors of different weights, the hinge systems comprise counterweight spring systems in order to provide convenience to the user while lifting the door. Additionally, hinge systems to which a damper is added in order to prevent the door from hitting against the body while closing the door, are present.
  • The United States patent document numbered US8533914 in the background of the invention discloses a hinge for the doors of the electrical appliances. Hinge, spring that controls and softens the movement of the door, and damper system is present. The damper steps in when the door is about to be closed, and provides a soft closing.
  • The United States patent document numbered US3187374A relates to improvements in counterbalance and self-braking type hinge mechanisms for pivotally supporting and balancing and otherwise positionally controlling the lid or cover of an open top type cabinet or the like. Thus the invention relates more specically tomotion control hinge mechanisms such as are useful for example in connection with top covers of record player cabinets,'freezer cabinetsiling cabinets, or other receptacles having hinged covers or lids swingable from horizontal closed positions to vertically standing open positions.
  • The German utility model document numbered DE20306043 in the background of the invention discloses a hinge for the doors of the appliances such as refrigerators and freezers. Hinge, spring that controls and softens the movement of the door, and damper system is present. The damper steps in when the door is about to be closed, and provides a soft closing.
  • The United States patent document numbered US8806718 in the background of the invention discloses a hinge that is used for the doors of the household appliances. The hinge comprises a damper in order to improve the movement of the door.
  • The damper systems that are present in the state of the art could not provide different absorptions of force at different positions of the door with respect to the appliance. These situations cause insufficiencies in providing the desired comfort while closing the door.
  • In the damper systems that are present in the state of the art, important parts such as spring and damper, are placed outside the body of the hinge, and for this reason, they are exposed to external effects. The system that is exposed to impacts, dirt and dust loses its function over time.
  • In the state of the art, the forces that are transmitted to the damper do not arrive perpendicularly at every position of the door. This situation causes the damper to get deformed over time because of the lateral forces arising on the damper.
  • The hinge systems could not stay at the mounting position before being mounted, because of the spring they comprise. For an appropriate assembling, the hinge has to be hold at the mounting position and it has to be fixed to its place thus and so. In the United States patent document numbered US6438799 that is present in the state of the art, a plastic part for fixing the hinge to the mounting position that is broken at the first use after the assembly is developed. As a result of this part being broken, it becomes functionless in the event of the hinge being demounted and mounted again. At the same time, the broken pieces constitute risk for the mechanism and the breaking process requires high forces to be exerted. A locking system that enables the hinge to be demounted and mounted multiple times, that does not cause breaking event, thereby that does not pose a risk for the mechanism, that does not require high forces to be exerted like the ones required in the breaking process has to be developed.
  • Short Description of the Invention
  • The object of the invention is to provide a hinge mechanism which comprises a damper inside the hinge in order to prevent accelerations during closing.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a hinge mechanism which provides the motion to be transmitted to the damper with the help of a cam form, and that provides different closing comforts by the cam that is produced in the desired forms.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a hinge mechanism which comprises a locking mechanism that holds the mechanism fixed at the mounting position in order to enable mounting multiple times.

    • at least four slot pulleys (11.4) that are fitted into the ends of the pins (11.3) which stays out of the pulley body (11.1), that are placed inside the pulley slots (8.4), that reduce the friction between the pulley slot (8.4) by freely rotating around their axes during their movement inside the pulley slot (8.4),
    • at least two cam pulleys (11.5) which are present in the middle region of the pins (11.3) that remain inside the pulley body (11.1), one of which is in contact with the cam surface (10.3) and one of which is in contact with the damper (9); which reduce friction, depreciation, and noise production on the surfaces to which they contact.
  • Male conical piece (12) comprises;
    • at least one slit (12.1) inside of which the flat end (8.2) can pass,
    • at least one conical protrusion (12.2) which passes into the female conical piece (13).
  • Female conical piece (13) comprises;
    • at least two flap protrusions (13.1) which are attached to the flaps (2.6) and which are present in opposite positions from each other,
    • at least one conical unloader (13.2) which passes into the conical protrusion (12.2) and which prevents the lateral movement.
  • The fixed piece (2) and the moving piece (3), the lower wall of the fixed piece (2.1) and the lower wall of the moving piece (3.1) have to be held in a position in which they are parallel to each other for the hinge mechanism (1) to be able to be mounted to the appliance body. This position is called mounting position. The protruded ends (5.2), that preferably have an inverse conical shape, that are present on the moving pin (5) that moves inside the slot (2.7), are positioned on the lock groove (2.9) at the mounting position, and their movement is prevented by the lock groove (2.8). After the mounting, in order to get the hinge mechanism in a useable state, the movement of opening the appliance door is realized, thus enabling the protruded ends (5.2) get out of the lock groove (2.9) and passing over the lock protrusion (2.8). During the passing of the protruded ends (5.2) over the lock protrusion (2.8), the lock protrusion (2.8) bends so that it moves away from the way of the protruded ends (5.2). When a remounting is necessary, the lock protrusion (2.8) is restored to its previous position, and the protruded ends (5.2) are positioned on the lock groove (2.9) again. As no breaking occurs during the deactivating and reactivating processes of the lock protrusion (2.8), no distribution of the particles that may pose a risk for the mechanism occurs.
  • In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the lock protrusion (2.8) is in a shape of a rod that is positioned perpendicularly to the slot (2.6) surface. (Figure 7)
  • In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the lock protrusion (2.8) is in a closed, hollow form. (Figure 8)
  • In an alternative embodiment of the invention, the hinge mechanism (1) that is fixed to the mounting position comprises;
    • at least one fixed piece (2) having at least one lock hole of the fixed piece (2.10) that is present on at least one of the lateral walls of the fixed piece (2.2),
    • at least one moving piece (3) having at least one lock hole of the moving piece (3.6) that is present on at least one of the lateral walls of the moving piece (3.2) and that is aligned with the lock hole of the fixed piece (2.10) at the mounting position,
    • at least one lock pin (14) that prevents the movement of the moving piece (3) with respect to the fixed piece (2) by passing through the lock hole of the fixed piece (2.10) and the lock hole of the moving piece(3.6) at the mounting position. (Figure 9)
