Definitions
- the present invention relates to a layered structure comprising an adhesive layer, a paper layer and between the adhesive layer and the paper layer a release liner, wherein the adhesive layer contacts the release liner.
- a layered structure within the meaning of the present application is a layered composite, which comprises the plies and layers assigned to it in the present application, or consists of these layers.
- such layer structures can be applied to any surface.
- a preferred area of application is in the packaging industry, where layer structures of this type are applied to packaging as labels.
- packaging can provide an outer surface that is relatively uniform in terms of surface properties and surface material for the application of the layered structure. This allows one type of layered structure to be applied to a variety of packages to identify different packaged goods.
- Known layer structures of the type mentioned at the outset often have a layer of oriented polypropylene (oPP) between the paper layer and the separating layer.
- the separating layer is then a primer layer, which ensures adequate adhesion of the adhesion layer to the OPP layer and thus to the composite of paper layer and OPP layer.
- oPP oriented polypropylene
- the OPP layer serves as a kind of substrate for the paper layer and stabilizes it so that the OPP layer prevents the paper layer from tearing undesirably on the applied label. Since the layered structure is often applied to a web of material, from which packaging is produced only after application of the layered structure, the layered structure is during manufacture Packaging exposed to high mechanical loads that could lead to local tearing in the paper layer. In the prior art, this is prevented by the OPP layer, which reduces stresses induced by the packaging material during production of the packaging through elastic or plastic deformation and does not transfer them to the paper layer, if at all.
- a disadvantage of these known layered structures is that they are difficult to recycle, since the composite layer made of paper layer and OPP layer can only be recycled with an undesirably high level of effort. In addition, the production of the layered composite is expensive.
- the present invention solves this problem with a layer structure of the type mentioned at the outset in that the separating layer is applied to the paper layer as a release lacquer application layer and contacts the paper layer.
- the oPP layer previously used for stabilization is therefore no longer required and the separating layer is applied directly to the paper layer as a release lacquer application layer.
- the main obstacle to recycling the layered structure is eliminated.
- the layer structure is therefore more sustainable than the layer structure of the prior art described at the outset.
- the release lacquer application layer is a release lacquer application layer based on polyamide.
- the release varnish application layer thus consists of more than 50% by weight, preferably more than 80% by weight and particularly preferably more than 95% by weight, of polyamide.
- the reference state is the dry state of the release lacquer application layer after it has been applied. After evaporation of any solvent that may be present during application, the release coating application layer can consist of 100% by weight polyamide, neglecting unavoidable impurities.
- the release lacquer application layer can comprise at least one additive and/or at least one wax or a mixture of different waxes.
- the release lacquer application layer can be applied particularly thinly in a liquid application process and scraped off. Alternatively, the release varnish application layer can be applied in a printing process.
- the advantage of the release lacquer application layer is that it already achieves its desired technical effect at low grammages. According to initial tests, it is sufficient if the release lacquer application layer is applied to the paper layer with an application weight of at least 1.0 g/m 2 , preferably 1.5 g/m 2 , particularly preferably at least 2 g/m 2 . From an application weight of the release lacquer application layer of 1.5 g/m 2 on the paper ply, the inventors have found that the adhesive layer can be separated from the release lacquer application layer over the entire surface, and thus also from the paper ply.
- this separability allows the adhesive layer to be separated from the paper layer without producing fiber tears in the paper layer.
- an application weight of the release varnish application layer of 1.0 g/m 2 to 1.5 g/m 2 on the paper layer a crack-free separation of the adhesive layer from the paper layer can also be achieved. In this case, however, fiber tears can also occur to a small extent in the paper layer, but these are acceptable for certain applications.
- the paper layer is preferably precoated at least on the side where the release lacquer application layer is applied, and is also, in particular, smooth.
- Such a paper layer supports the reduction and / or prevention of fiber tears in the paper layer, which in the above-described separation of the adhesion layer from the release coating application layer, or from the paper layer, especially when using a not on the application side of the release coating application layer precoated and/or paper layer that is less smooth on this side.
- the release varnish application layer needs to be applied to the paper layer with an application weight of no more than 5 g/m 2 , preferably no more than 3 g/m 2 .
- the application weight of the release lacquer application layer is preferably in a range from 1 to 5% of the weight per unit area of the paper layer.
- the application weight of the adhesion layer is also preferably greater than that of the release lacquer application layer and less than the weight per unit area of the paper layer.
- the basis weights given for a ply or layer in this application relate to the dry or cured state of the respective ply or layer.
- the paper ply is preferably precoated at least on the side where the release lacquer application layer is applied, in order to achieve a certain smoothness on the side of the paper ply facing the release lacquer application layer and thus to prevent release lacquer from penetrating the fiber structure of the paper ply.
- the adhesive force between the release lacquer application layer and the paper layer is greater than between the release lacquer application layer and the adhesion layer.
- the adhesive force between the release lacquer application layer and the adhesive layer is lower than between the adhesive layer and a packaging material layer to which the layered structure is applied.
- a type of tampering seal can thus be provided which indicates whether a packaging provided with the layered structure has been tampered with in the area of the layered structure.
- the The present invention therefore also relates to an arrangement comprising a layer structure described in the present application, which is applied to a packaging material layer. Such arrangements are described generally below.
- the layer of packaging material which can be part of a composite layer of packaging material, can be a layer of packaging material before or after a packaging has been produced from it.
- the adhesive layer remains at least partially, preferably completely, on the packaging material layer after the layer structure has been applied to a packaging material layer and after the layer structure has been pulled off again.
- manipulation of the packaging material layer in the area of a previously applied layer structure is easily recognizable for everyone.
- the detectability of a manipulation that has taken place as described above can be further increased by the adhesive layer containing colored pigments.
- White and black are considered colors within the meaning of the application.
- the adhesion layer can be an adhesion layer composite of at least two adhesion layers produced separately from one another.
- the adhesion layers are preferably formed from the same adhesion polymer, but can also be formed from different but compatible adhesion polymers.
- an adhesion layer composite as the adhesion layer according to an advantageous development of the present invention, only some of the adhesion layers contain color pigments, while at least one adhesion layer is free of color pigments.
- at least two adhesion layers can be provided, each of which contains color pigments of a different color.
- the adhesive layer is preferably a heat-sealing layer, which can be connected to the substrate by heating to a specific sealing temperature and pressing with a specific sealing pressure for a specific sealing time on a specific substrate.
- this substrate is a heat seal layer made from a material that is compatible with the material of the heat seal layer to create an adhesive bond.
- the seal seam strength produced can be adjusted within certain limits in a manner known per se, primarily by changing the sealing duration and/or the sealing pressure.
- the heat-sealing layer is preferably sealable against any materials, such as in particular against paper, PET, PP, PS, overprint varnishes and the like.
- the adhesive layer can be a cold adhesive layer, in particular a cold-seal layer, which generally adheres to any substrate. If the adhesive layer is a cold adhesive layer, this is usually covered with a release film to avoid unwanted blocking. Silicone-coated paper, for example, can be used as a release film.
- the adhesive layer can be connected to the substrate, in particular a packaging material layer, over the entire surface. If easier detachment of the layered structure from its substrate is desired, to reduce the adhesive force of the layered structure on the substrate overall, the adhesive layer can be applied only partially to the release lacquer application layer, leaving out surface areas. Areas of the release lacquer application layer and the paper layer left out of the adhesive layer can also serve as information carriers for information that should only be available after the layer structure has been pulled off the substrate, for example after a labeled packaging product has been purchased, as is the case, for example, in the competition can.
- the paper layer preferably has a basis weight of 40 g/m 2 to 120 g/m 2 .
- the paper layer preferably has a basis weight of 70 g/m 2 to 120 g/m 2 , this basis weight being particularly useful as adhesive labels formed layer structures has proven to be advantageous.
- the paper layer can be on the side facing away from the release lacquer application layer have an application of paint and/or a protective lacquer layer.
- the application of paint is preferably a print application of paint, with which information in the form of text and/or images can be applied to the visible side of the layered structure that is immediately recognizable by the consumer.
- a protective layer of paint can protect the print application or the application of paint in general from abrasion and damage.
- the layered structure preferably has only the plies and layers mentioned. After the layer structure has been removed from its substrate, in which case the adhesive layer generally remains on the substrate, the vast majority of the weight of the layer structure residue that has been removed is easily recyclable paper. Residues of the adhesive layer possibly remaining on the layer structure residue that has been pulled off can be easily removed over large areas of the layer structure residue.
- the adhesion layer is designed to adhere to a base material, in particular a packaging material layer.
- the paper ply can have a visible side, with the release varnish application layer being applied to a side of the layer structure which is remote from the visible side of the paper ply, in particular in relation to a thickness direction of the layer structure.
- the adhesion layer is applied areally to the release lacquer application layer.
- the layered structure is preferably flat.
- flat structures and/or layers are referred to as having dimensions in the direction of thickness that are significantly smaller, in particular smaller by a factor of at least 20 to at least 100, than their dimension orthogonal to the direction of thickness.
- the adhesive layer and/or the paper layer and/or the separating layer and/or the release lacquer application layer and/or the print application and/or the protective lacquer layer is/are of flat design.
- the layered structure has the adhesion layer as an outermost layer with respect to the thickness direction of the layered structure.
- the adhesive layer can form the outermost layer only in sections, ie, for example in a pattern, leaving out surface areas of the adhesive layer, but preferably over the entire surface.
- the layer structure can be a lid for a container, in particular a paper lid film or a cardboard lid, and/or an adhesive label or a web of material, the web of material preferably being designed to be used in the production of packaging or a label or adhesive label.
- the layer structure discussed here can be produced particularly inexpensively, since the layer structure can only be formed by applying liquid or pasty layers to the paper layer.
- the layered structure can thus be formed solely by coating and/or printing the paper layer.
- the layered structure is complete when the wet or paste-like layers have dried.
- the lamination step is not required to produce the layered structure. Therefore, the layered structure can advantageously be produced in one machine during a run of a paper web on the paper web.
- a heat-sealing dispersion is applied as an adhesion material to the release lacquer application layer.
- the method may further include the step of printing the other side of the paper web with at least one ink.
- the side of the paper web on which no release coating is or is applied is printed.
- the paper web can be printed with the at least one printing ink before release varnish is applied or at the same time as this or after release varnish is applied. Likewise, the paper web can be printed with the at least one printing ink before the release coating is coated with adhesion material, at the same time as this is done, or after the coating.
- the method of protecting the inking applied during printing may include coating the inking with a protective varnish.
- the layered structure is produced during a single run of a paper web through an application device with a number of application stations.
- the present invention is concerned with an arrangement, in particular with a package, comprising an upper material and a lower material, wherein the layer structure according to the invention is the upper material.
- the adhesive layer of the layered structure adheres to the base material, in particular over the entire surface or only in sections.
- the layered structure can be applied as the upper to the lower material.
- the layered structure forms an outside of the arrangement.
- the sub-material is preferably formed separately from the layered structure.
- the base material can be a layer of packaging material and/or can be a plastic.
- the sub-material may form a portion of a container, e.g. B. a mug or a bowl.
- the base material can simply be a container wall on which the layered structure for identifying the container can be arranged as an adhesive label.
- the layered structure can advantageously form a closure of the container that can be opened easily and reliably when the section of the base material is a collar that protrudes away from a container wall and runs around a container opening.
- a collar is, in particular, a peripheral projection that projects in at least one direction orthogonal to the circumferential direction, preferably radially.
- the collar preferably protrudes radially outwards or radially inwards from the container wall without any axial extension component, preferably outwards because of the easier emptying of the cup.
- the package can be a pouch, which can be formed entirely of the layered structure.
- only one wall of the bag can be a layered structure, which is sealed against a further packaging material layer of the bag, which is separate from the layered structure and structurally differs from it, as the base material.
- the separate layer of packaging material can alternatively be a layered structure according to the invention.
- the packaging material layer as the sub-material can also be part of the layered structure itself by folding the layered structure over onto itself, then with adhesion layers facing one another. A coherent section of the layer structure according to the invention then surrounds a cavity of a packaging.
- a partial structure extending from the exposed outside of the layer structure up to and including the release lacquer application layer can be pulled off the lower material as a detachment structure from the layer structure, which is connected to a sub-material by means of its adhesive layer.
- the adhesive layer remains at least partially or preferably completely in the area where it is connected to the base material.
- the detachment structure can be completely detachable from the adhesion layer or only in a detachment area of its surface extent designed for this purpose.
- the layer structure can have a release lacquer application layer only in the detachment area and not in an area that differs from the detachment area.
- an area of the base material on which exposed cold adhesive remains after the detachment structure has been detached from the base material can form an adhesive surface.
- the adhesive surface can preferably completely or partially surround a removal opening of the packaging, so that the part of the layer structure detached from the base material can form a resealable adhesive closure of the packaging.
- the contact layer can be the adhesion layer of the packaging material layer if this is also a layered structure according to the invention.
- the visible side of the paper layer and/or a print job applied to the visible side of the paper layer and/or a protective lacquer layer applied to the visible side of the paper layer and/or to the print job can be the contact layer.
- the layered structure may cover an opening in the base material, which may be part of a package, which opening is preferably adapted for removal of a product from within the package.
- the layered structure can have a thickness that is essentially the same over its entire surface extent.
- the release lacquer application layer can be applied to the paper ply in a pattern, leaving out at least one area of the paper ply, or alternatively it can be applied over the entire surface. It can extend over the entire extension of the layer structure in at least one direction of the layer structure orthogonal to the layer structure thickness direction from the longitudinal direction and/or width direction.
- a section of the layer structure which is not intended to be a detachment section as described above can also be free of a release lacquer application layer over its entire extension in the direction of thickness. This partial section can be delimited by at least one virtual surface, in particular a plane, which preferably runs essentially parallel to the thickness direction and intersects the layer structure.
- This virtual surface can also run essentially parallel to the longitudinal direction or to the width direction, at least only partially or completely.
- the dimension of the layer structure in its thickness direction can be smaller in this section than outside this section.
- This partial section preferably extends either over the entire dimension of the layer structure in the longitudinal direction or over the entire dimension of the layer structure in the width direction.
- the packaging can be a pouch, in particular for holding medical products, secondary packaging, a sachet pouch or a flat sealed-edge pouch.
- the layered structure can, for example, seal against various sub-materials (or adhere to these sub-materials) as, in particular, a non-rigid lid film or as an in particular intrinsically rigid lid cardboard.
- containers providing sub-materials, such as cups or bowls, which are preferably made of plastic can be closed, as a result of which closed packaging is formed.
- the invention also relates to a method for producing an arrangement according to the invention, in particular packaging, comprising the following steps: providing a layered structure according to the invention, which is preferably an upper material, and sealing the layered structure to a lower material.
- a step of "sealing" is to be understood as a step of forming a connection between the layer structure and the sub-material, this connection being formed by the adhesion layer and thus in particular being an adhesive connection.
- an upper material is arranged on a lower material.
- the adhesion layer preferably has an application weight of no more than 9.0 g/m 2 , measured on the dry or cured layer, on the release lacquer application layer. If the layered structure is adhered to a substrate and the layered structure covers an opening in the substrate, at such application weights, when the layered structure is peeled from the opening, the adhesive layer will tear along the perimeter of the opening by cracking. The opening is then uncovered without a skin of adhesion layer closing the opening, in particular the opening is uncovered completely.
- the adhesion layer is in particular a heat seal dispersion layer, it can be an EVAC dispersion layer, an acrylate dispersion layer or a layer of a solvent-based heat seal lacquer, e.g. B. be based on polyester.
- Values and/or range limits of the application weights and/or basis weights specified in the application have in particular an error tolerance of +0.04 g/m 2 and -0.05 g/m 2 .
- a layer structure according to the invention is generally denoted by 10 .
- the layered structure forms an adhesive label.
- the Layered structure 10 is, in particular as an upper material, sealed onto a packaging material layer 12, which in particular forms a lower material.
- the packaging material layer 12 can be the entire packaging material as a monolayer or can be part of a multi-layer composite which forms the packaging material.
- the layered structure has the most massive layer 14, which is also the layer with the greatest basis weight, a paper layer which carries a print job 16 on its visible side 14a, which is completely covered by a protective lacquer layer 18 in order to protect it from external influences.
- the protective lacquer layer 18 is preferably transparent so that the appearance of the print job 16 is not affected.
- the paper layer 14 has a basis weight of 90 g/m 2 .
- a release varnish application layer 20 is applied as a separating layer.
- a heat-sealing layer 22 (or heat-sealing layer) is applied as a heat-sealing dispersion to the release lacquer application layer 20 as the adhesion layer.
- the heat seal layer 22 is preferably a polyolefin and may be, for example, a polyethylene or a polypropylene layer.
- the heat-sealing layer 22 can comprise or be an ethylene-vinyl acetate and/or an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer.
- the layer of packaging material 12 can be formed from the same sealable material as the heat seal layer 22, such that by heating above the softening point and pressing together the heat seal layer 22, and thereby the layered structure 10 as a whole, can be bonded to the sheet of packaging material 12.
- the strength of the connection between the layered structure 10 and the packaging material layer 12 can be adjusted by the selected sealing temperature, the selected sealing pressure and the selected sealing duration.
- the heat-sealing layer 22 is preferably sealable against any materials, such as in particular against paper, PET, PP, PS, overprint varnishes and the like.
- the application weight, again based on the dry state, of the heat-sealing layer 22 is preferably greater than the application weight (area weight) of the release lacquer application layer 20.
- the heat-sealing layer 22 adheres to the packaging material layer 12 with high adhesive force as a result of the sealing connection.
- the adhesion of the heat-seal layer 22 to the release lacquer application layer 20 is lower than the adhesion of the release lacquer application layer 20 to the paper layer 14. This basically means that under the same dissolving conditions, for example with the same type of delaminating peeling, one layer from another, to A greater force is required to separate the release lacquer application layer 20 from the paper layer 14 than to separate the heat-seal layer 22 from the release lacquer application layer 20. Also to separate the heat-seal layer 22 from the packaging material layer 12, a greater force is generally required than to separate the Heat seal layer 22 from the release varnish application layer 20.
- the heat-seal layer 22 can be provided as a tamper seal with colored pigments in order to form a layer structure on the packaging material layer 12 after the layer structure has been detached 10 to make remaining heat seal layer 22 particularly easy to identify.
- the color pigments of the heat-seal layer 22 are preferably selected with a contrast to color pigments in the packaging material layer 12 or in further packaging material layers located below the packaging material layer 12 and visible from the side of the layered structure 10 .
- the entire layer structure is free of laminated layers and is produced solely by applying liquid or pasty layers to the paper layer.
- the layered structure can advantageously be produced on a single machine while a paper web is running through it.
- the print application 16 and the protective lacquer layer 18 are applied to one side 14a of the paper layer 14, and the release lacquer application layer 20 and the heat-sealing layer 22 to the opposite side 14b.
- Figure 2a shows a closed package 24, comprising the already associated with the figure 1 described layer structure 10, which in this case forms a lid foil or a lid cardboard, as well as a cup 26 made of plastic, for example, with a collar 30 surrounding a cup opening 28, which extends outwards away from an interior space 32 of the cup 26.
- the adhesion layer 22 of the in Figure 2a used layer structure 10, in contrast to the description of this structure in connection with the figure 1 be designed as a cold glue layer.
- the adhesive layer 22 adheres to an outwardly facing surface 34 of the collar 30 such that the layered structure 10 closes the cup opening 28 . If the layered structure 10 is pulled off the cup 26, the adhesive layer 22 separates from the release lacquer application layer 20 in the area of the collar 30.
- the adhesive layer 22 also separates, in particular with an application weight of no more than 9.0 g/m 2 , measured on the dry or cured layer, the adhesion layer 22 on the release lacquer application layer 20, by cracking along the circumference of the cup opening 28, as indicated by the dashed lines 36l, 36r.
- an application weight of the adhesion layer For each combination of release lacquer application layer, adhesion layer and the dimensioning of the layer structure as well as the dimensioning and design of the areas where the layered structure adheres to a sub-material, the person skilled in the art can easily determine an application weight of the adhesion layer through experiments, so that this effect occurs. This effect occurs in particular in the embodiment described here if the adhesion of the adhesive layer remaining on the layer structure residue after the layer structure 10 has been pulled off the cup opening 28 on the release lacquer application layer 20 is greater than the tear strength of the adhesive layer 22.
- the cup opening 28 is exposed. If the adhesive layer 22 is designed as a cold adhesive layer, the cup opening 28 can be closed again by placing the peeled-off layer structure 10 on the residue of the adhesive layer 22 remaining on the collar 30 .
- the sections of adhesion layer 22 that adhere to surface 34 after the removal described above and are exposed to the outside adhere to exposed sections of the release lacquer application layer 20 of the layer structure 10 that has been removed or to the sections of adhesion layer 22 that have remained on the layer structure 10 that have been removed.
- Figure 2b 12 shows the cup 26 with outwardly exposed portions 22l, 22m, 22r of the adhesive layer 22 adhering to the surface 34 and a release structure 11 which is formed from the layered structure 10 by peeling this layered structure 10 off the cup 26 as described above.
- the plies and layers of the detachment structure 11 are provided with the same reference symbols as those of the layer structure 10 and explicit reference is made to their description in connection with the layer structure.
- figure 3 shows a packaging designed as a bag 38, which consists of two layers arranged one above the other in connection with the figure 1 described layer structure 10 is formed, wherein in figure 3 only the top layer 40 in the view shown is shown.
- These layers are embodiments of layers of packaging material and are arranged one above the other with adhesive layers 22 facing one another and each configured as a heat-sealed layer.
- the Layer structures 10 of the layers are connected to one another along the outer circumference by a heat-sealed seam 42, so that the packaging 38 encloses an item accommodated in its interior.
- the respective adhesion layers 22 of the layers arranged one on top of the other are embodiments of contact layers mentioned in the introduction to the description.
- the adhesion layer 22 of the in figure 3 layer structure 10 used for the layers can, in contrast to the description of this structure in connection with the figure 1 be designed as a cold glue layer.
- the layer structures 10 of the layers are then connected to one another along the outer circumference by a cold-sealed seam 42', this alternative also being described in figure 3 is drawn. This cold-seal seam 42' can be opened and closed again in a known manner.
- figure 4 shows an embodiment of a packaging 138 designed as a pouch, which incorporates many aspects of the figure 3
- the embodiment described above shows the package 38 of layers with layered structures 10 in which the adhesive layer 22 is a heat-sealed layer. - the adhesive layer 22 of the cover 146 separates substantially along the Perimeter of the opening 144 by cracking and a portion of the adhesive layer 22 of the cover 146 remains due to the separation of the adhesive layer 22 of the cover 146 from the release varnish application layer 20 of the cover 146 on the contact layer of the layer 140. If instead of a heat seal layer a cold adhesive layer is used as the adhesive layer 22 of the layer structure 10 of the cover 146 is used, this section of the adhesion layer 22 of the cover 146 remaining on the contact layer forms an exposed adhesive surface.
- This adhesive surface can be used to close the opening 144 by attaching the cover 146 or by a portion of the package 138, which portion of the package 138 can be placed by folding this package 138 over the opening 144 and into contact with the adhesive surface. A resealable adhesive closure of the package 138 is thereby formed.
- FIG 5 shows an embodiment of a packaging 238 designed as a bag, which is made of two layers of packaging material arranged one on top of the other that are essentially identical, possibly apart from the imprint.
- the packaging material layer 212 lying on top in the view shown is shown.
- These layers of packaging material can be monolayers made of plastic.
- These packaging material layers are connected to one another along the outer circumference by a heat-sealed seam 242, so that the packaging 238 encloses an item accommodated in its interior.

- the layer structure 210 of the cover 246, like the layer structure 10, is flat and extends in a longitudinal direction L, a width direction B, which extends in figure 6 perpendicular to the plane of the drawing, and a thickness direction D, which in figure 5 runs perpendicular to the plane of the drawing.
- the adhesive layer is spaced apart from the protective lacquer layer in the thickness direction D.
- the layer structure 210 in the thickness direction D is free of a release lacquer application layer.
- the section TA of the layer structure 210 is delimited from the section TB of the layer structure 210 forming the rest of the layer structure 210 by a plane K, which runs perpendicular to the longitudinal direction L and parallel to the direction of thickness D.
- the layer structure 210 has a constant dimension H0 in the direction of thickness over its entire surface extent. This is achieved by the adhesion layer 222 having a dimension H1 in the thickness direction D in the section TA, which is equal to the sum of the dimension H2 of the adhesion layer 222 in the thickness direction D in the section TB and the dimension H3 of the release lacquer application layer 220 present in the section TB.
- the adhesion layer 222 has different dimensions H1, H2 in the thickness direction D along an extension direction of the layer structure 210, in this case the longitudinal direction L, for example.
- the adhesive layer 222 separates from the release lacquer application layer 220.
- the adhesive layer 222 separates along the circumference of the opening 244 by cracking and a section of the adhesive layer 222 remains on the sub-material forming Packaging material layer 212, as already in relation to the embodiment of figure 4 was explained.
- the separation of the adhesion layer 222 from the release lacquer application layer 220 begins at a first point when it is pulled off in the direction P of removal End portion 248 of the layered structure 210.
- the person peeling off the cover 246 feels an increased resistance because the adhesive force between the adhesive layer 222 and the paper layer 214 is greater as the adhesive force between the release lacquer application layer 220 and the adhesion layer 222.
- a fold line forms in the layer structure 210, at which the cover 246 bends. If the adhesive layer 222 is a cold adhesive layer, the exposed adhesive layer 222 remaining on the packaging material layer 212 after the cover 246 has been removed forms an adhesive surface to which the cover 246 can adhere again and the opening 244 can be closed again.
- figure 7 shows a third embodiment of a layer structure 310, which forms the cover 246 as an alternative to the layer structure 210 and is applied to the packaging material layer 212.
- the layer structure 310 corresponds in many aspects to that in figure 6 described embodiment of the layer structure 210. Unless stated otherwise, only the differences between the layer structure 310 and the layer structure 210 are described below. Elements and sections of the layer structure 310 which correspond to those of the layer structure 210 are provided with a reference number increased by 100 with respect to the corresponding elements or sections of the layer structure 210, and explicit reference is made to the corresponding description of the layer structure 210.
- the dimension of the layered structure 310 over its surface extent in the thickness direction D is not the same over its entire surface extent.
- this dimension H4 of the layered structure 310 in the thickness direction D is smaller than the dimension H5 of the layered structure 310 in the thickness direction D in the subsection TB.
- the dimension H6 of the adhesion layer 322 in the thickness direction D is substantially the same in the sections TA and TB.
- the dimension H5 is greater than the dimension H4 by the dimension H7 of the release varnish application layer 320 .
- the cover 246 is placed on the packaging material sheet 212 glued on, a step 350 is formed which is indicated purely schematically and exaggerated for reasons of clearer illustration.
- the level 350 can, as in the figure 7 indicated, be formed essentially in the packaging material layer 212, or, as sketched by the lines 352, 354 indicating an outer surface course of the layered structure, be formed essentially in the cover 246.
- the change in the course of the packaging material layer 212 is not in the overview for the sake of clarity figure 7 implied.
- the step 350 may be formed in both the packaging material sheet 212 and the cover 246.
- the level 350 is for better perception as a jump in the figure 7 shown schematically.
- the step 350 as well as any steps that may be present in the packaging material layer 212, the adhesion layer 322 and/or the entire layered structure 310 or its layers and/or layers, is not seen as a crack but as a deviation extending in the longitudinal direction L over a certain length of the course of these layers, strata and/or structures can be designed to have a straight or level course.

Description
The present invention relates to a layered structure comprising an adhesive layer, a paper layer and between the adhesive layer and the paper layer a release liner, wherein the adhesive layer contacts the release liner.
A layered structure within the meaning of the present application is a layered composite, which comprises the plies and layers assigned to it in the present application, or consists of these layers.
Depending on the design of the adhesion layer, such layer structures can be applied to any surface. A preferred area of application is in the packaging industry, where layer structures of this type are applied to packaging as labels. Regardless of the material and shape of the packaged goods, packaging can provide an outer surface that is relatively uniform in terms of surface properties and surface material for the application of the layered structure. This allows one type of layered structure to be applied to a variety of packages to identify different packaged goods.
Known layer structures of the type mentioned at the outset often have a layer of oriented polypropylene (oPP) between the paper layer and the separating layer. The separating layer is then a primer layer, which ensures adequate adhesion of the adhesion layer to the OPP layer and thus to the composite of paper layer and OPP layer.
The OPP layer serves as a kind of substrate for the paper layer and stabilizes it so that the OPP layer prevents the paper layer from tearing undesirably on the applied label.
A disadvantage of these known layered structures is that they are difficult to recycle, since the composite layer made of paper layer and OPP layer can only be recycled with an undesirably high level of effort. In addition, the production of the layered composite is expensive.
It is therefore the object of the present invention to further develop the layer structure of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it can be used with the same quality in use but improved recyclability.
The present invention solves this problem with a layer structure of the type mentioned at the outset in that the separating layer is applied to the paper layer as a release lacquer application layer and contacts the paper layer.
The oPP layer previously used for stabilization is therefore no longer required and the separating layer is applied directly to the paper layer as a release lacquer application layer. Thus, with the OPP layer, the main obstacle to recycling the layered structure is eliminated. The layer structure is therefore more sustainable than the layer structure of the prior art described at the outset.
With the omission of the OPP layer, there is no substrate that stabilizes the integrity of the paper layer. This stabilizing effect is now taken over by the release lacquer application layer. A particularly good stabilization effect combined with high adhesion to the paper layer can be obtained if the release lacquer application layer is a release lacquer application layer based on polyamide. The release varnish application layer thus consists of more than 50% by weight, preferably more than 80% by weight and particularly preferably more than 95% by weight, of polyamide. The reference state is the dry state of the release lacquer application layer after it has been applied. After evaporation of any solvent that may be present during application, the release coating application layer can consist of 100% by weight polyamide, neglecting unavoidable impurities. The release lacquer application layer can comprise at least one additive and/or at least one wax or a mixture of different waxes.
The release lacquer application layer can be applied particularly thinly in a liquid application process and scraped off. Alternatively, the release varnish application layer can be applied in a printing process. The advantage of the release lacquer application layer is that it already achieves its desired technical effect at low grammages. In particular, this separability allows the adhesive layer to be separated from the paper layer without producing fiber tears in the paper layer. With an application weight of the release varnish application layer of 1.0 g/m 2 to 1.5 g/m 2 on the paper layer, a crack-free separation of the adhesive layer from the paper layer can also be achieved. In this case, however, fiber tears can also occur to a small extent in the paper layer, but these are acceptable for certain applications. As already mentioned at the outset, the paper layer is preferably precoated at least on the side where the release lacquer application layer is applied, and is also, in particular, smooth. Such a paper layer supports the reduction and / or prevention of fiber tears in the paper layer, which in the above-described separation of the adhesion layer from the release coating application layer, or from the paper layer, especially when using a not on the application side of the release coating application layer precoated and/or paper layer that is less smooth on this side. This applies to the application weights of the release lacquer application layer described above, especially in the area of low application weights of 1.0 g/m 2 to 1.5 g/m 2 .
Likewise, no particularly thick release coating application layers are required. In order to ensure that the predominant main component of the layer structure is easily recyclable paper, the release varnish application layer needs to be applied to the paper layer with an application weight of no more than 5 g/m 2 , preferably no more than 3 g/m 2 . The application weight of the release lacquer application layer is preferably in a range from 1 to 5% of the weight per unit area of the paper layer.
The application weight of the adhesion layer is also preferably greater than that of the release lacquer application layer and less than the weight per unit area of the paper layer.
Schicht. The basis weights given for a ply or layer in this application relate to the dry or cured state of the respective ply or layer.
The paper ply is preferably precoated at least on the side where the release lacquer application layer is applied, in order to achieve a certain smoothness on the side of the paper ply facing the release lacquer application layer and thus to prevent release lacquer from penetrating the fiber structure of the paper ply.
For a stable layered structure with high component integrity, it is advantageous if the adhesive force between the release lacquer application layer and the paper layer is greater than between the release lacquer application layer and the adhesion layer.
In addition, the adhesive force between the release lacquer application layer and the adhesive layer is lower than between the adhesive layer and a packaging material layer to which the layered structure is applied. A type of tampering seal can thus be provided which indicates whether a packaging provided with the layered structure has been tampered with in the area of the layered structure. the The present invention therefore also relates to an arrangement comprising a layer structure described in the present application, which is applied to a packaging material layer. Such arrangements are described generally below. The layer of packaging material, which can be part of a composite layer of packaging material, can be a layer of packaging material before or after a packaging has been produced from it.
As a result of this last-mentioned adhesion ratio, the adhesive layer remains at least partially, preferably completely, on the packaging material layer after the layer structure has been applied to a packaging material layer and after the layer structure has been pulled off again. As a result, manipulation of the packaging material layer in the area of a previously applied layer structure is easily recognizable for everyone.
In case of doubt, the adhesion between those layers that are in contact is considered to be greater, between which a greater force has to be applied to separate them using otherwise the same delamination technique.
The detectability of a manipulation that has taken place as described above can be further increased by the adhesive layer containing colored pigments. White and black are considered colors within the meaning of the application. The adhesion layer can be an adhesion layer composite of at least two adhesion layers produced separately from one another. The adhesion layers are preferably formed from the same adhesion polymer, but can also be formed from different but compatible adhesion polymers. In the case of an adhesion layer composite as the adhesion layer, according to an advantageous development of the present invention, only some of the adhesion layers contain color pigments, while at least one adhesion layer is free of color pigments. Likewise, at least two adhesion layers can be provided, each of which contains color pigments of a different color.
The adhesive layer is preferably a heat-sealing layer, which can be connected to the substrate by heating to a specific sealing temperature and pressing with a specific sealing pressure for a specific sealing time on a specific substrate. Typically, this substrate is a heat seal layer made from a material that is compatible with the material of the heat seal layer to create an adhesive bond. The seal seam strength produced can be adjusted within certain limits in a manner known per se, primarily by changing the sealing duration and/or the sealing pressure. The heat-sealing layer is preferably sealable against any materials, such as in particular against paper, PET, PP, PS, overprint varnishes and the like.
Alternatively, the adhesive layer can be a cold adhesive layer, in particular a cold-seal layer, which generally adheres to any substrate. If the adhesive layer is a cold adhesive layer, this is usually covered with a release film to avoid unwanted blocking. Silicone-coated paper, for example, can be used as a release film.
In order to achieve a particularly high absolute adhesive force with a predetermined line-related sealing seam strength, the adhesive layer can be connected to the substrate, in particular a packaging material layer, over the entire surface.
The paper layer preferably has a basis weight of 40 g/m 2 to 120 g/m 2 . In particular, the paper layer preferably has a basis weight of 70 g/m 2 to 120 g/m 2 , this basis weight being particularly useful as adhesive labels formed layer structures has proven to be advantageous. Basis weights in the range from 80 g/m 2 to 100 g/m 2 , particularly preferably 90 g/m 2 , are particularly preferred in order to avoid layered structures having excessive weight.
To provide layer structures designed in particular as labels or adhesive labels with the information that is usually desired about the origin and/or the content and/or the quality of a product provided and/or labeled with the layer structure, the paper layer can be on the side facing away from the release lacquer application layer have an application of paint and/or a protective lacquer layer. The application of paint is preferably a print application of paint, with which information in the form of text and/or images can be applied to the visible side of the layered structure that is immediately recognizable by the consumer. A protective layer of paint can protect the print application or the application of paint in general from abrasion and damage.
In order to improve the recyclability of the layered structure, the layered structure preferably has only the plies and layers mentioned.
The adhesion layer is designed to adhere to a base material, in particular a packaging material layer.
The paper ply can have a visible side, with the release varnish application layer being applied to a side of the layer structure which is remote from the visible side of the paper ply, in particular in relation to a thickness direction of the layer structure. In this case, in particular, the adhesion layer is applied areally to the release lacquer application layer.
Die Schichtstruktur ist vorzugsweise flächig ausgebildet. The layered structure is preferably flat.
In the context of the application, flat structures and/or layers are referred to as having dimensions in the direction of thickness that are significantly smaller, in particular smaller by a factor of at least 20 to at least 100, than their dimension orthogonal to the direction of thickness. Preferably, the adhesive layer and/or the paper layer and/or the separating layer and/or the release lacquer application layer and/or the print application and/or the protective lacquer layer is/are of flat design.
The layered structure has the adhesion layer as an outermost layer with respect to the thickness direction of the layered structure. The adhesive layer can form the outermost layer only in sections, ie, for example in a pattern, leaving out surface areas of the adhesive layer, but preferably over the entire surface.
The layer structure can be a lid for a container, in particular a paper lid film or a cardboard lid, and/or an adhesive label or a web of material, the web of material preferably being designed to be used in the production of packaging or a label or adhesive label.
The layer structure discussed here can be produced particularly inexpensively, since the layer structure can only be formed by applying liquid or pasty layers to the paper layer. The layered structure can thus be formed solely by coating and/or printing the paper layer. The layered structure is complete when the wet or paste-like layers have dried. The lamination step is not required to produce the layered structure. Therefore, the layered structure can advantageously be produced in one machine during a run of a paper web on the paper web.
- transporting a paper web through an application device,
- during transport application of release varnish to one side of the paper web,
- Coating the release varnish with adhesion material such as sealing wax or cold glue.
Before the release varnish is coated with adhesion material, it is advantageous to dry the release varnish along a drying path. As a preferred sealing lacquer, a heat-sealing dispersion is applied as an adhesion material to the release lacquer application layer.
The method may further include the step of printing the other side of the paper web with at least one ink. The side of the paper web on which no release coating is or is applied is printed.
The paper web can be printed with the at least one printing ink before release varnish is applied or at the same time as this or after release varnish is applied. Likewise, the paper web can be printed with the at least one printing ink before the release coating is coated with adhesion material, at the same time as this is done, or after the coating.
As discussed above, the method of protecting the inking applied during printing may include coating the inking with a protective varnish.
In a particularly preferred and economically advantageous manner, the layered structure is produced during a single run of a paper web through an application device with a number of application stations.
Furthermore, the present invention is concerned with an arrangement, in particular with a package, comprising an upper material and a lower material, wherein the layer structure according to the invention is the upper material. The adhesive layer of the layered structure adheres to the base material, in particular over the entire surface or only in sections. The layered structure can be applied as the upper to the lower material. In particular, the layered structure forms an outside of the arrangement.
The sub-material is preferably formed separately from the layered structure. The base material can be a layer of packaging material and/or can be a plastic. The sub-material may form a portion of a container, e.g. B. a mug or a bowl. The base material can simply be a container wall on which the layered structure for identifying the container can be arranged as an adhesive label. However, the layered structure can advantageously form a closure of the container that can be opened easily and reliably when the section of the base material is a collar that protrudes away from a container wall and runs around a container opening. A collar is, in particular, a peripheral projection that projects in at least one direction orthogonal to the circumferential direction, preferably radially. To facilitate attachment of the adhesive layer of the layered structure to a preferably flat surface of the collar, the collar preferably protrudes radially outwards or radially inwards from the container wall without any axial extension component, preferably outwards because of the easier emptying of the cup.
The package can be a pouch, which can be formed entirely of the layered structure. Likewise, only one wall of the bag can be a layered structure, which is sealed against a further packaging material layer of the bag, which is separate from the layered structure and structurally differs from it, as the base material. The separate layer of packaging material can alternatively be a layered structure according to the invention. However, the packaging material layer as the sub-material can also be part of the layered structure itself by folding the layered structure over onto itself, then with adhesion layers facing one another. A coherent section of the layer structure according to the invention then surrounds a cavity of a packaging.
As already explained above, a partial structure extending from the exposed outside of the layer structure up to and including the release lacquer application layer can be pulled off the lower material as a detachment structure from the layer structure, which is connected to a sub-material by means of its adhesive layer. The adhesive layer remains at least partially or preferably completely in the area where it is connected to the base material. The detachment structure can be completely detachable from the adhesion layer or only in a detachment area of its surface extent designed for this purpose. For example, the layer structure can have a release lacquer application layer only in the detachment area and not in an area that differs from the detachment area.
If a cold adhesive layer is used as the adhesion layer, an area of the base material on which exposed cold adhesive remains after the detachment structure has been detached from the base material can form an adhesive surface. If the arrangement is packaging, the adhesive surface can preferably completely or partially surround a removal opening of the packaging, so that the part of the layer structure detached from the base material can form a resealable adhesive closure of the packaging.
That outermost layer of the base material to which a layer structure according to the invention adheres with its adhesion layer is referred to below as the contact layer. The contact layer can be the adhesion layer of the packaging material layer if this is also a layered structure according to the invention.
Likewise, if the packaging material layer is also a layer structure according to the invention, the visible side of the paper layer and/or a print job applied to the visible side of the paper layer and/or a protective lacquer layer applied to the visible side of the paper layer and/or to the print job can be the contact layer.
The layered structure may cover an opening in the base material, which may be part of a package, which opening is preferably adapted for removal of a product from within the package.
The layered structure can have a thickness that is essentially the same over its entire surface extent.
The release lacquer application layer can be applied to the paper ply in a pattern, leaving out at least one area of the paper ply, or alternatively it can be applied over the entire surface. It can extend over the entire extension of the layer structure in at least one direction of the layer structure orthogonal to the layer structure thickness direction from the longitudinal direction and/or width direction. A section of the layer structure which is not intended to be a detachment section as described above can also be free of a release lacquer application layer over its entire extension in the direction of thickness. This partial section can be delimited by at least one virtual surface, in particular a plane, which preferably runs essentially parallel to the thickness direction and intersects the layer structure. This virtual surface can also run essentially parallel to the longitudinal direction or to the width direction, at least only partially or completely. The dimension of the layer structure in its thickness direction can be smaller in this section than outside this section. This partial section preferably extends either over the entire dimension of the layer structure in the longitudinal direction or over the entire dimension of the layer structure in the width direction.
The packaging can be a pouch, in particular for holding medical products, secondary packaging, a sachet pouch or a flat sealed-edge pouch. The layered structure can, for example, seal against various sub-materials (or adhere to these sub-materials) as, in particular, a non-rigid lid film or as an in particular intrinsically rigid lid cardboard. In this way, in particular, containers providing sub-materials, such as cups or bowls, which are preferably made of plastic, can be closed, as a result of which closed packaging is formed.
The invention also relates to a method for producing an arrangement according to the invention, in particular packaging, comprising the following steps: providing a layered structure according to the invention, which is preferably an upper material, and sealing the layered structure to a lower material. A step of "sealing" is to be understood as a step of forming a connection between the layer structure and the sub-material, this connection being formed by the adhesion layer and thus in particular being an adhesive connection. In particular, an upper material is arranged on a lower material.
The adhesion layer preferably has an application weight of no more than 9.0 g/m 2 , measured on the dry or cured layer, on the release lacquer application layer.
Die Adhäsionslage ist insbesondere eine Heißsiegeldispersion-Lage, sie kann eine EVAC-Dispersion-Lage, eine Acrylat-Dispersion-Lage oder eine Lage aus einem lösemittelhaltigen Heißsiegellack, z. B. auf Polyesterbasis, sein. The adhesion layer is in particular a heat seal dispersion layer, it can be an EVAC dispersion layer, an acrylate dispersion layer or a layer of a solvent-based heat seal lacquer, e.g. B. be based on polyester.
Values and/or range limits of the application weights and/or basis weights specified in the application have in particular an error tolerance of +0.04 g/m 2 and -0.05 g/m 2 .

The layered structure has the most

Dies bedeutet, die an der Schichtstruktur ausgebildete trockene Releaselack-Auftragsschicht 20 wiegt pro Quadratmeter 2,5 g.On the
A heat-sealing layer 22 (or heat-sealing layer) is applied as a heat-sealing dispersion to the release
