Definitions
- the invention relates to a drinking straw that is suitable for multiple use.
- a majority of the drinking straws currently available on the market are disposable plastic items. Many of these drinking straws end up in the sea and, due to their shape and long persistence in the marine environment, have a high potential for damage to marine organisms.
- drinking straws as disposable items is partly due to the fact that such drinking straws are difficult to clean and biofilms or mold accumulates very quickly in the drinking straws.
- the multiple use requires that the drinking straw can also be cleaned well on the inside. Ideally, it should be dishwasher safe and suitable for contact with food.
- drinking straws are described in the literature, which can be divided lengthwise and are connected to one another by means of connecting means or end faces that engage in one another. Examples of this are in the US2020138216 , KR 101 861 432 B1 , CN 108 703 614 A , JP 2014 155 524 A , TWM 576 017 U or CN 209 377 254 U to find.
- the disadvantage of these solutions is that the end surfaces or connecting means are very difficult to clean and deposits can form in the inaccessible areas over time.
- drinking straws are known which are formed from two grooves pushed into one another, for example described in DE 20 2018 002 707 U1 , WO 2019/ 228 582 A1 and DE 2020 20 101 015 U1 . Connection and tightness are ensured by tension and/or friction.
- the disadvantage here is that separating the elements can prove to be difficult.
- the drinking straw is not dismantled into its components and cleaned immediately after use, drink residue can stick the components together.
- she has DE 20 2020 101 015 U1 this problem is solved in that the inner groove has a grip element that allows easy disassembly of the drinking straw by sliding the grooves apart, but this grip element has to be cleaned additionally and increases the production costs. There is room for improvement here.
- a drinking straw comprising an outer element and an inner element, wherein the outer element is designed like a hollow tube with a wall that is closed in cross section and the inner element is designed like a channel with a channel wall at least in sections.
- the outer member has at least one elongate recess in the wall, the length of the recess of the outer member being less than the length of the inner member and the outer member being stretchable and resilient.
- the recess in the outer element is preferably designed as an elongated hole.
- the inner element Since the recess in the outer element is smaller than the length of the inner element, the inner element cannot detach from the outer element when the drinking straw is assembled, because the outer areas of the wall of the outer element enclose at least the adjacent end sections of the inner element. This prevents the inner element from slipping out of the recess in the wall of the outer element.
- the wall of the outer element encloses the end sections of the inner element, the drinking straw is robust against longitudinal and transverse forces acting on the drinking straw, which can occur, for example, when stirring a viscous drink with the drinking straw.
- the shape elasticity of the outer element enables a simplified, but at the same time dimensionally stable and liquid-tight assembly of the drinking straw, since the two elements are held together by the pressing or clamping forces that occur.
- the cut-out is necessary for assembling the two elements of the straw.
- the length of the inner element, the length of the recess in the wall of the outer element and the form-elastic properties of the outer element are preferably optimized so that the inner element can be inserted into the elongated recess of the outer element and the inner element can be inserted from the outer one again if necessary item is detachable. Due to the shape elasticity of the outer member, the shape of the recess in the wall of the outer member can be lengthened by stretching the outer member. It goes without saying that, additionally or alternatively, the inner element can also be stretchable and shape-elastic, so that it can be compressed in order to be held with a precise fit in the recess of the outer element.
- the wall of the outer element overlaps the channel wall of the inner element on the peripheral side, so that in the area of the recess of the outer element the inner element and the outer element together form a liquid-tight tubular profile with a closed wall in its longitudinal extension.
- the drinking straw composed of the two components can be divided into several sections: a first, preferably central section with the recess formed in the wall of the outer element and closed by the inner element and at least two further sections, preferably on the end section side, in which the outer element has a wall that is closed in cross section.
- the drinking straw constructed in this way is liquid-tight at the connection points and is ideally suited for removing liquids from a container.
- the walls of the outer element which are closed in cross-section at the end sections and enclose the end sections of the inner element, avoid overlapping edges between the outer and inner element, whereby the drinking straw provides a pleasant feeling of drinking on the sensitive lip area of the user when in use.
- the stop element preferably comprises at least one nub that protrudes inside the outer element. It is also conceivable that the stop element is formed from at least one nub. The at least one nub effectively prevents the inner element from slipping in the longitudinal direction of the drinking straw relative to the outer element without significantly reducing the flow cross section of the drinking straw.
- the stop element preferably comprises three knobs. These are more preferably arranged symmetrically on an imaginary semicircle along the closed wall of the outer element, ie at 60°, 120° and 180°.
- the stop element is C-shaped in cross section.
- the C-shaped stop element can be connected to the outer element as a separate element, for example by gluing, clamping or by Put.
- the stop element is preferably inserted into the recess of the outer element and glued to it.
- the stop element can also be formed in one piece with the outer element.
- the C-shaped stop element can additionally have at least one nub.
- a stop element is provided on each of two opposite end sections in the longitudinal direction of the outer element. This avoids slippage of the inner element relative to the outer element in either direction of the straw.
- At least one anti-rotation device is provided in the outer element.
- the anti-twist device counteracts twisting of the inner element relative to the outer element, in which it acts as a blocking element.
- the anti-rotation lock comprises at least a first pair of anti-rotation lock elements and a second pair of anti-rotation lock elements, which are arranged on the inner wall of the outer element at a longitudinal distance from one another, with the longitudinal distance between the first pair of anti-rotation lock elements and the second pair of anti-rotation lock elements not being is longer than the length of the inner element. This ensures that the inner element can interact with both pairs of anti-rotation elements at the same time.
- each anti-rotation element has a nose-shaped contour with a nose tip in cross-section, with the nose tips of a pair of anti-rotation elements pointing in opposite directions. This serves to optimally stabilize the inner element against twisting relative to the outer element.
- the tips of the nose can overlap the inner wall of the inner element in the assembled state of the drinking straw.
- nose tip means a tip of the anti-twist element that tapers in the manner of a nose tip.
- a preferred embodiment provides that at least one end section of the inner element is bevelled.
- a preferred embodiment provides that at least the edge areas of the wall of the outer element point towards the recess are beveled. Preferably, these are the opposite edge regions of the recess in the longitudinal direction, which in turn are preferably rounded. This embodiment offers the advantage that the risk of a tear in the edge area of the wall of the outer element, which can occur when the drinking straw is frequently assembled and disassembled, is reduced.
- the drinking tube can be assembled in two ways, with variants between the two procedures also being possible.
- the outer element is stretched when assembling the drinking straw in order to expand the recess in the wall of the outer element so that the inner element can be inserted into the inner shell of the outer element via the deformed recess.
- the tensile forces required for stretching are preferably achieved by longitudinally pulling the outer member.
- the material of the elements is preferably selected in such a way that the outer element is stretchable and dimensionally elastic, while the inner element is dimensionally stable.
- the second procedure provides that the inner element is compressed using appropriate compression forces in order to insert it into the inner shell of the outer element via the deformed recess. Positioned there, the dimensionally stable inner element can expand back to its original shape and form the desired liquid-tight connection together with the outer element.
- the inner element is preferably pressable and dimensionally stable.
- the present invention understands the term “dimensionally stable” to mean a shape that can return to its original shape after elastic deformation.
- the drinking straw should preferably be kink-resistant.
- the inner element is made of a harder material than the outer element.
- Preferred materials for the outer element and the inner element are elastomers, in particular silicones and rubber, aluminium, copper, steel, stainless steel, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, glass, corn starch, paper, wood and/or bamboo.
- elastomers in particular silicones and rubber, aluminium, copper, steel, stainless steel, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, glass, corn starch, paper, wood and/or bamboo.
- a combination of stainless steel for the inner member and silicone for the outer member is preferred.
- the present invention can best be carried out when the length of the recess in the wall of the outer element in the dimensionally stable state of the outer element corresponds to between 30 and 95%, preferably between 50 and 90% of the total length of the outer element.
- the Figures 1 to 13 show the drinking straw or parts of the drinking straw according to a first embodiment in different views.
- the inner element 12 is channel-like with a channel wall 16 and C-shaped.
- the cross section can also correspond to an open elliptical shape.
- the idea of the invention also includes when the inner element 12 is only partially channel-shaped in the longitudinal direction and, for example, has end sections that are closed in cross-section, as in FIG 2 can be seen.
- the idea of the invention also includes a variant in which, for example, the end sections of the inner element 12 are not completely closed, but rather there are continuous slots 17 extending in the longitudinal direction (cf. 3 ) or have openings (not shown). In the 3
- the shown variant of the inner element 12 with closed cross-section and slotted end sections is particularly easy to manufacture.
- channel wall (16) means the entire wall of the inner element 12, ie also the wall sections of the inner element 12 in which the wall is closed.
- the inner member 12 is shown with beveled end portions. Like in the figure 5 as indicated by the dashed auxiliary lines, the end portions of the inner member 12 are beveled at approximately 10° relative to the normal. However, they can also be beveled preferably between 5° and 60° or particularly preferably between 10° and 45°. Intermediate values are also included according to the invention.
- the inside Element 12 formed as a C-shaped channel. It is understood that the inner member 12 according to the 4 and 5 also in the way as in the 2 and 3 shown, can be formed and at the same time has beveled end portions.
- the outer element 10 is shown as a hollow tube with a wall 14 that is closed in cross section.
- the outer element 10 thus has an essentially cylindrical geometry with an elliptical base area in the embodiment variant shown.
- a round cross section is part of a further embodiment (see figures 14 and 15 ).
- the outer element 10 has an elongated and continuous recess 18 in the wall 14 in a central section.
- the wall 14 of the two outer end sections of the outer element 10 has a closed geometry in cross section.
- the recess 18 is bordered by two longitudinal edges 22 lying opposite one another and running in the longitudinal direction and two transverse edges 24 lying opposite one another and running in the transverse direction.
- the outer element 10 is configured in such a way that the two longitudinal edges 22 run in the same plane as one another and the two transverse edges 24 run in the same plane as one another.
- the transverse edges 24 of the recess 18 are arranged in a plane above the longitudinal edges 22 and are connected to the longitudinal edges 22 of the recess 18 via a section 26 that is beveled in the longitudinal direction (cf. also 7 and 8th ).
- transverse edges 24 are rounded in the example shown.
- the figure 9 shows the outer element 10 in plan view or the figure 10 in the cross-sectional view.
- the outer member 10 may also include a plurality of elongated recesses 18, 18'.
- the figures 14 and 15 show another embodiment of the drinking straw. This embodiment differs from the first embodiment in that the outer member 10 is circular in cross section. Not shown but preferred is that the inner member 12 is also preferably circular in cross-section.
- two stop elements 20 are arranged in the cavity of the outer element 10 .
- the two stop elements 20 are positioned inside the outer element 10 in the region of the opposite end portions of the outer element 10 . In these areas, the wall 14 of the outer element 10 is closed on the peripheral side in cross-section.
- Each of the stop elements 20 partially narrows the cross section of the outer element 10, so that the inner element 12 is prevented from slipping in the longitudinal direction of the drinking straw in both longitudinal directions.
- each stop element 20 has a C-shaped cross section and has three knobs 28 distributed around the circumference.
- the knobs 28 are arranged at a symmetrical distance from one another.
- the stop element 20 can also be formed without nubs 28 or, in an embodiment that is not shown, the stop element 20 can only be formed from one or more nubs 28 inside the outer element.
- Each stop element 20 is preferably connected in one piece to the outer element 10, but can also be inserted and fastened into it as a separate component, e.g. by clamping or gluing.
- the 20 shows the stop element 20 as a separate component.
- Each of the anti-rotation devices 30 includes a pair 30a; 30b anti-rotation elements 30 ', so a total of four anti-rotation elements 30'.
- Each anti-rotation element 30 ′ has a nose-shaped contour with a nose tip 32 in cross section. The nose tips 32 of a pair 30a; 30b on anti-rotation elements 30' in opposite directions, aligned relative to the longitudinal axis of the drinking straw.
- each leg of the C-shaped inner element 12 ends in the imaginary space between the respective tip of the nose 32 and the wall 14 of the outer element 10 .
- the two pairs 30a; 30b on anti-rotation elements 30' are arranged inside the outer element 10 on an inner wall 14 of the outer element 10, which is opposite the recess 18 of the outer element 10.
- the longitudinal distance between the first pair 30a of anti-rotation elements 30' and the second pair 30b of anti-rotation elements 30' is no more than the length of the inner element 18.
- Each anti-rotation element 30' of a pair 30a; 30b on anti-rotation elements 30' can be connected in the longitudinal direction to the corresponding anti-rotation element 30' of the other pair 30b; 30a can be connected to anti-rotation elements 30' (not shown) in order to additionally seal the inner element in the longitudinal direction of the drinking straw.
- the anti-rotation elements 30' of each pair 30a; 30b on anti-rotation elements 30' are positioned parallel to one another, viewed in the longitudinal direction of the drinking straw. However, they can also be arranged offset to one another in the outer element 10 .
- the anti-twist devices 30 are arranged more centrally on the drinking straw than the stop elements 20.
- elastic materials such as elastomers, in particular silicone and rubber, and/or materials with a shape memory effect can be considered as soft materials for the inner element 12 and the outer element 10 .
- Hard materials for the inner member 12 include aluminum, copper, steel, stainless steel, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, glass, cornstarch, paper, wood, and bamboo. It goes without saying that the plastics mentioned can also be designed as soft materials, for example by adding plasticizers. In addition, it is understood that from The idea of the invention also includes other plastics and suitable materials for the inner element 12 and the outer element 10 .
- the outer element 10 and/or the inner element 12 preferably have a length between 100 and 300 mm, preferably between 150 and 250 mm and a width between 2 and 30 mm, preferably between 5 and 20 mm.
- the preferred height of the outer element 10 and/or the inner element 12 is between 3 and 20 mm, more preferably between 5 and 15 mm.
- the inner member 12 is preferably between 65% and 95% of the length of the outer member 10 in length.
- the insertion of the inner element 12 into the outer element 10 is outlined in a first procedure.
- the length of the inner member 12 is greater than the length of the recess 18 in the wall of the outer member 10 in the relaxed state of the outer member 10.
- an end portion of the inner member 12 is to be inserted into an end portion of the recess 18 of the outer member 10 (cf. 21 ).
- the end portions of the outer member 10 are to be grasped and a pulling force applied to the outer member 10, causing the outer member 10 and thus the recess 18 to expand.
- the inner element 12 slides into the interior of the outer element 10 when the recess 18 expands sufficiently.
- the tension applied to the outer member 10 can then be reduced until the outer member 10 is stress free.
- the end portions of the outer member 10 thereby overlap part of the end portions of the inner member 12 so that the inner member 12 and the outer member 10 are positively connected to each other.
- the channel-like walls 14 of the outer element 10 overlap the channel wall 16 of the inner element 12 on the peripheral side. If the outer element 10 is made of a flexible or soft material, the channel-like walls 14 of the outer element nestle 10 to the channel wall 16 of the inner element 12, so that a high tightness of the drinking straw is achieved.
- the idea of the invention also includes in particular an embodiment that is not shown, in which the inner element 12 is compressed by compression for insertion into the outer element 10 and after insertion through the recess 18 of the outer element 10 inside the outer element 10 again expands its original shape and then enters into a fluid-tight connection with the outer element 10 .
- the 24 12 shows a cross-sectional view of the inner member 12 and the outer member 10 in an assembled condition.
- FIGS. 25 to 27 show a third embodiment of the drinking straw.
- both the inner element 10 and the outer element 12 have a curved end section.
- the idea of the invention also includes the fact that the various embodiments can be combined with one another, in particular that the anti-rotation devices 30 and the stop elements 20 are also arranged in the interior of the outer element 10 in the second and third embodiment.

Description
The invention relates to a drinking straw that is suitable for multiple use.
A majority of the drinking straws currently available on the market are disposable plastic items. Many of these drinking straws end up in the sea and, due to their shape and long persistence in the marine environment, have a high potential for damage to marine organisms.
The use of drinking straws as disposable items is partly due to the fact that such drinking straws are difficult to clean and biofilms or mold accumulates very quickly in the drinking straws. The multiple use requires that the drinking straw can also be cleaned well on the inside. Ideally, it should be dishwasher safe and suitable for contact with food.
Against this background, it is the object of the present invention to provide an alternative to the prior art drinking straw, which is easy to handle, is suitable for multiple use and can be cleaned in a simple manner.
This problem is solved by a drinking straw with the features of
According to the invention, a drinking straw is provided, comprising an outer element and an inner element, wherein the outer element is designed like a hollow tube with a wall that is closed in cross section and the inner element is designed like a channel with a channel wall at least in sections. The outer member has at least one elongate recess in the wall, the length of the recess of the outer member being less than the length of the inner member and the outer member being stretchable and resilient. The recess in the outer element is preferably designed as an elongated hole. Since the recess in the outer element is smaller than the length of the inner element, the inner element cannot detach from the outer element when the drinking straw is assembled, because the outer areas of the wall of the outer element enclose at least the adjacent end sections of the inner element. This prevents the inner element from slipping out of the recess in the wall of the outer element. In addition, because the wall of the outer element encloses the end sections of the inner element, the drinking straw is robust against longitudinal and transverse forces acting on the drinking straw, which can occur, for example, when stirring a viscous drink with the drinking straw.
The shape elasticity of the outer element enables a simplified, but at the same time dimensionally stable and liquid-tight assembly of the drinking straw, since the two elements are held together by the pressing or clamping forces that occur. The cut-out is necessary for assembling the two elements of the straw.
The length of the inner element, the length of the recess in the wall of the outer element and the form-elastic properties of the outer element are preferably optimized so that the inner element can be inserted into the elongated recess of the outer element and the inner element can be inserted from the outer one again if necessary item is detachable.
Due to the open design of the drinking straw with its detachable components, all areas of the drinking straw are easily accessible for cleaning, so that deposits are avoided.
In the assembled state of the drinking straw, the wall of the outer element overlaps the channel wall of the inner element on the peripheral side, so that in the area of the recess of the outer element the inner element and the outer element together form a liquid-tight tubular profile with a closed wall in its longitudinal extension.
The drinking straw composed of the two components can be divided into several sections: a first, preferably central section with the recess formed in the wall of the outer element and closed by the inner element and at least two further sections, preferably on the end section side, in which the outer element has a wall that is closed in cross section. The drinking straw constructed in this way is liquid-tight at the connection points and is ideally suited for removing liquids from a container. Furthermore, the walls of the outer element, which are closed in cross-section at the end sections and enclose the end sections of the inner element, avoid overlapping edges between the outer and inner element, whereby the drinking straw provides a pleasant feeling of drinking on the sensitive lip area of the user when in use.
In a preferred embodiment, at least one protruding stop element is arranged in the outer element, so that when the drinking tube is assembled, the inner element cannot slip in the longitudinal direction of the drinking straw. For this purpose, the stop element preferably comprises at least one nub that protrudes inside the outer element. It is also conceivable that the stop element is formed from at least one nub. The at least one nub effectively prevents the inner element from slipping in the longitudinal direction of the drinking straw relative to the outer element without significantly reducing the flow cross section of the drinking straw.
The stop element preferably comprises three knobs. These are more preferably arranged symmetrically on an imaginary semicircle along the closed wall of the outer element, ie at 60°, 120° and 180°.
In a preferred further development, the stop element is C-shaped in cross section. The C-shaped stop element can be connected to the outer element as a separate element, for example by gluing, clamping or by Put. The stop element is preferably inserted into the recess of the outer element and glued to it. Alternatively, the stop element can also be formed in one piece with the outer element. The C-shaped stop element can additionally have at least one nub.
So that the drinking straw can be used on both sides, it is preferred that a stop element is provided on each of two opposite end sections in the longitudinal direction of the outer element. This avoids slippage of the inner element relative to the outer element in either direction of the straw.
In a preferred embodiment, at least one anti-rotation device is provided in the outer element. In the assembled state of the drinking straw, the anti-twist device counteracts twisting of the inner element relative to the outer element, in which it acts as a blocking element.
It is particularly preferred that the anti-rotation lock comprises at least a first pair of anti-rotation lock elements and a second pair of anti-rotation lock elements, which are arranged on the inner wall of the outer element at a longitudinal distance from one another, with the longitudinal distance between the first pair of anti-rotation lock elements and the second pair of anti-rotation lock elements not being is longer than the length of the inner element. This ensures that the inner element can interact with both pairs of anti-rotation elements at the same time.
It is particularly preferred that each anti-rotation element has a nose-shaped contour with a nose tip in cross-section, with the nose tips of a pair of anti-rotation elements pointing in opposite directions. This serves to optimally stabilize the inner element against twisting relative to the outer element. The tips of the nose can overlap the inner wall of the inner element in the assembled state of the drinking straw. It goes without saying that the term "nose tip" means a tip of the anti-twist element that tapers in the manner of a nose tip.
In order to simplify the insertion of the inner element into the recess of the outer element, a preferred embodiment provides that at least one end section of the inner element is bevelled.
In addition or as an alternative, a preferred embodiment provides that at least the edge areas of the wall of the outer element point towards the recess are beveled.
According to the invention, the drinking tube can be assembled in two ways, with variants between the two procedures also being possible.
One approach provides that the outer element is stretched when assembling the drinking straw in order to expand the recess in the wall of the outer element so that the inner element can be inserted into the inner shell of the outer element via the deformed recess. The tensile forces required for stretching are preferably achieved by longitudinally pulling the outer member. The material of the elements is preferably selected in such a way that the outer element is stretchable and dimensionally elastic, while the inner element is dimensionally stable.
The second procedure provides that the inner element is compressed using appropriate compression forces in order to insert it into the inner shell of the outer element via the deformed recess. Positioned there, the dimensionally stable inner element can expand back to its original shape and form the desired liquid-tight connection together with the outer element. For this purpose, the inner element is preferably pressable and dimensionally stable.
The present invention understands the term “dimensionally stable” to mean a shape that can return to its original shape after elastic deformation.
The drinking straw should preferably be kink-resistant. In order to give the drinking straw enough stability, the inner element is made of a harder material than the outer element.
Preferred materials for the outer element and the inner element are elastomers, in particular silicones and rubber, aluminium, copper, steel, stainless steel, polycarbonate, polyethylene, polypropylene, glass, corn starch, paper, wood and/or bamboo. A combination of stainless steel for the inner member and silicone for the outer member is preferred.
Experiments have shown that the present invention can best be carried out when the length of the recess in the wall of the outer element in the dimensionally stable state of the outer element corresponds to between 30 and 95%, preferably between 50 and 90% of the total length of the outer element.
Preferred embodiments of the invention are explained in more detail with reference to the following drawings.
