Description

A COOLING DEVICE COMPRISING A DOOR WITH ADJUSTABLE OPENING/CLOSING FORCE
  • The present invention relates to a cooling device, especially a refrigerator, comprising a door with adjustable opening/closing force.
  • In cooling devices, the door is connected to the body by means of hinges, and the hinges enable the door to rotatably open/close around the vertical axis of the body. In the state of the art, the hinges have a triangular protrusion and said protrusion contacts a stopper provided on the door. The stopper is fixed on the door, and the protrusion of the hinge rubs against the stopper, thus enabling the door to open/close. In this case, the user applies force (pushing or pulling) only until the stopper passes over the apex of the protrusion of the hinge to open or close the door. As the stopper passes over the apex of the protrusion of the hinge, the door can automatically close or open without requiring any additional force. In the present technology, the same hinge and the same stopper are used for cooling device doors of different types and with different weights.
  • The weight of the cooling device doors varies due to factors such as material of the door, items loaded onto the inner shelves of the door, etc. Therefore, since the change in the weight of the door changes the opening/closing force to be applied on the door by the user, a structure for applying different pulling/pushing forces for different weights of door is required.
  • In the state of the art, structures with pins and springs are used on the door so as to align with the hinges in order to enable the refrigerator doors to open/closely more easily. Said hinges only enable the door to open/close more easily, but do not propose any solution for the hinge which can operate at different levels according to different door weights.
  • In the state of the art United States Patent Document No. US9739523, a hinge assembly is disclosed, wherein force is generated with the movements of the lower and upper cam surfaces of the pin bracket with parabolic profiles provided on a refrigerator hinge in order to facilitate the opening/closing of the door.
  • In the state of the art Korean Patent Document No. KR20120072759, a refrigerator is disclosed, comprising a door with limited opening angle and wherein the maximum opening force of the door is limited by means of a stopper.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a cooling device comprising a door having a housing which enables the door to be opened/closed at different hardness (with different force) depending on the weight thereof.
  • In the cooling device of the present invention, the door and the body are connected to each other by means of a hinge which provides the opening/closing of the door. Said hinge comprises a triangular protrusion having an apex.
  • The cooling device of the present invention comprises a ball which functions as a stopper so as to align with the protrusion and a cover whereon the ball is positioned and supported.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cover comprises a ball housing which receives the ball.
  • The cooling device of the present invention comprises a housing which is provided at the lower side of the door and which receives the cover whereon the ball functioning as a stopper so as to align with the protrusion during the opening/closing of the door is supported.
  • The housing comprises mounting points which enable the cover to be mounted to a plurality of points predetermined by the producer. Thus, the ball is mounted to the housing at the lower side of the door so as to contact the different regions of the protrusion of the hinge. By contacting the protrusion, the ball can move upwards and downwards in the space inside the housing.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the housing comprises a first mounting hole, a second mounting hole and a third mounting hole wherein the cover can be mounted. When the cover is mounted to the first mounting hole, the door opens in a harsh manner. When the cover is mounted to the second mounting hole, the door opens in a semi-harsh manner. When the cover is mounted to the third mounting hole, the door opens in a smooth manner. Thus, a structure which enables the door to open at different forces depending on different weights is obtained.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cover comprises a pair of screw holes for providing connection with the mounting holes. In this embodiment, the cover is screwed to a mounting hole preferred by the user by means of screws to adjust the opening force of the door.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the housing comprises a spring which provides the movement of the ball and a connection beam whereon the spring is disposed. Thus, the ball can flexibly move inside the housing depending on the pressure force applied by the protrusion.
  • By means of the present invention, a cooling device is realized, comprising a door wherein different pulling forces can be adjusted for different door weights.
  • The model embodiments relating to the cooling device comprising a door with adjusted opening/closing force realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention are illustrated in the attached figures, where:
  • Figure 1 - is the front view of the cooling device of the present invention in an embodiment.
  • Figure 2 - is the sideways perspective view of the door of the cooling device of the present invention in an embodiment.

  • Figure 7 - is the close view of the F region in Figure 6.
  • Figure 8 - is the view of the cooling device of the present invention in the embodiment where the cover is mounted to the housing in the second position.

  • The cooling device (1) comprises a body (2); a door (3) which covers the body (2), which provides access into the body (2) and which has an upper side (19), two lateral sides (18) and a lower side (17); at least one hinge (4) which enables the door (3) to be connected to the body (2) in an openable/closable manner; and a protrusion (14) which is provided at one end of the hinge (4) and which creates an elevation from the surface of the hinge (4) towards the lower side (17).
  • The cooling device (1) of the present invention comprises a ball (7) which functions as a stopper by contacting the protrusion (14) while the door (3) is opened/closed; a cover (8) whereon the ball (7) is placed; and a housing (5) which is provided on the lower side (17) and which enables the cover (8) supporting the ball (7) to be mounted to the lower side (17) at a plurality of mounting positions predetermined by the producer.
  • The cooling device (1) comprises the hinge (4) having the protrusion (14) for enabling the door (3) to be opened/closed around the vertical axis of the body (2). The hinge (4) is disposed between the door (3) and the body (2) and connects the door (3) and the body (2) to each other from at least one section thereof. The lower side (17) comprises the housing (5) which is formed as a recess at a region corresponding to the protrusion (14). At both sides of said housing (5), mounting points are provided at different positions predetermined by the producer. The ball (7) is placed onto the cover (8), and the cover (8) can be mounted to the housing (5) at the different mounting points provided at both sides of the housing (5). Thus, depending on the point where the cover (8) is mounted, the ball (7) contacts different sections of the protrusion (14) while the door (3) is being opened/closed, and as the protrusion (14) applies pressure onto the ball (7), the ball (7) moves upwards or downwards in the housing (5). • In this embodiment, the position where the cover (8) is mounted to the housing (5) from the first mounting holes (9) is the first position (P1). The position where the cover (8) is mounted to the housing (5) from the second mounting holes (10) is the first position (P2). The position where the cover (8) is mounted to the housing (5) from the third mounting holes (11) is the first position (P3). In the first position (P1), the ball (7) contacts the apex (T) while the door (3) is being opened/closed, and thus the door (3) opens in a harsh manner. In the second position (P2), the ball (7) contacts the protrusion (14) at a point close to the apex (T), and thus the door (3) can be opened/closed in a semi-harsh manner. In the third position (P3), the ball (7) contacts the protrusion (14) at a point away from the apex (T), and thus the door (3) can be opened/closed in a smooth manner with a small force.
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cover (8) comprises a pair of screw holes (16) which can be aligned with the first mounting holes (9), the second mounting holes (10) and the third mounting holes (11). Thus, the cover (8) is enabled to be mounted to the mounting holes (9, 10 and 11) at both sides of the housing (5) by means of screws (12).
  • In an embodiment of the present invention, the cooling device (1) comprises a spring (6) which enables the ball (7) to move inside the housing (5) and at one end of which the ball (7) is placed, and a connection beam (13) which enables the spring (6) to be placed into the housing (5).
