Abstract

The present invention relates to a washer/dryer (1) comprising a body (2); a drum (3) which is disposed into the body (2) and wherein the washing and/or drying process is realized; at least one baffle (4) which is fixed onto the inner wall of the drum (3) and which has a base(6), at least two side walls (8) and a ceiling (7) connecting the two side walls (8), and at least one additional baffle (5) which extends from the base (6) towards the axis of rotation of the drum (3) along the side walls (8) and which gains a different form on the baffle (4) by creating a protrusion on the side walls (8) of the baffle (4).

Description

A WASHER/DRYER WITH IMPROVED WASHING PERFORMANCE
The present invention relates to a washer/dryer with improved washing performance of the laundry placed therein. Horizontal axis washer/dryers with laundry washing and/or drying features comprise a plurality of, preferable three, baffles which are mounted onto the inner wall of the drum and which mechanically enable the laundry in the drum to be move, thus improving the washing efficiency.
In cases where it is required to prevent damage in laundry, especially in programs with low mechanical movement, the washing performance decreases. In particular in washers, the baffles turn the laundry over, thus enabling the detergent water to be in contact with every surface of the laundry, thus helping the dissolving of stains by rubbing.
In the state of the art United States Patent Application No. US2005097927, the baffles are configured to be inclined from front to back in order to facilitate the unloading of the laundry in the drum while the upper surfaces of the baffles have a wavy structure.
In the state of the art European Patent Application No. EP1876282, the baffles which have a curvilinear form in order to improve the tumbling of the laundry in the drum are disclosed.
Another state of the art document is European Patent Application No. EP2053152. In this document, it is disclosed that by increasing the size of the baffles a major advantage is provided in carrying and tumbling the laundry; however, with large baffles the risk of unbalanced load increases and that a movable baffle structure is developed in order to eliminate this problem.
Another document in the state of the art is the International Patent Application No. W02052090. The baffle disclosed in this document has angled surfaces which enable the laundry at the rear side of the drum to fall more quickly while the drum rotates clockwise and enable the laundry at the front side thereof to fall more quickly while the same rotates counterclockwise.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a washer/dryer of which the washing and/or drying performance is increased. The washer/dryer realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof comprises a body; a drum which is disposed into the body and wherein the washing and/or drying process is realized; at least one baffle which is fixed onto the inner wall of the drum and which has a base, at least two side walls and a ceiling connecting the two side walls, and at least one additional baffle which extends from the base towards the axis of rotation of the drum along the side walls and which gains a different form on the baffle by creating a protrusion on the side walls of the baffle.
The mixture of detergent and water is delivered into the drum by means of the circulation pump. From behind at least one of the baffles in the drum the water coming from the circulation pump enters and is delivered from the baffle onto the laundry at the desired speed and in the desired manner. The additional baffle, by means of the form thereof, enables the water to be delivered onto the laundry in the desired form.
By means of the protrusion- shaped structure extending along the side walls perpendicularly to the base of the baffle, the additional baffle changes the direction and movement of water, thus ensuring that different hydrodynamic movements of water are used and advantages such as more efficient contact of water with the laundry, better foaming and stain removal properties of detergent, etc. are provided. In the embodiment of the present invention at least one outlet is provided on the additional baffle and the baffle to discharge the water in the baffle and the additional baffle into the drum. The outlet is coaxial with the holes on the drum and is located on the edge where the ceiling of the additional baffle and the side wall join. In an embodiment of the present invention the additional baffle is cylindrical. In this embodiment the protrusion formed on the side walls is curvilinear and when the baffle is viewed from above the additional baffle looks like a circle. In this embodiment the additional baffle and the baffle seem to be two different interlocking structures. Thus, the water is enabled to be delivered onto the laundry in a circular manner.
In another embodiment of the present invention the additional baffle is in the form of a quadrangular prism, preferably cube. In this embodiment the protrusion formed on the side walls is planar and when the baffle is viewed from above the additional baffle looks like a square. Similarly, in this embodiment the additional baffle and the baffle seem to be two different interlocking structures.
In the embodiment of the present invention two identical additional baffles are provided on the baffle. Said two additional baffles are concentrically placed onto the baffle. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention the distance between the additional baffles varies between 5 to 10 cm. In the embodiment of the present invention the baffle has an elliptical structure and the two additional baffles are positioned onto the two focuses of the ellipse.
In another embodiment of the present invention the size and shape of the additional baffles on the baffle may be different from each other. In another embodiment of the present invention at least one guiding member is provided on the inner wall of the additional baffle. The guiding member is disposed along the inner wall of the additional baffle and has a spiral or quadratic structure. By means of the spiral guiding member, the water is enabled to be delivered onto the laundry in a circular manner. Thus, the water is enabled to be delivered onto the laundry in different forms.
In an embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of outlets is provided on the line connecting the additional baffles between the additional baffles on the baffle. By means of the outlets positioned between the additional baffles, the water is enabled to be delivered onto the laundry in a linear manner. In another embodiment of the present invention, the additional baffle is positioned so as to be in the vicinity of the door of the washer/dryer. Thus, the movement of the water can be more clearly viewed by the user from outside the washer/dryer.
By means of the present invention, it is provided that the washing efficiency is improved without damaging the laundry, that the user sees the water from the outside by changing the direction and movement of the water, that the water is in a more efficient contact with water, that the detergent is activated by properly mixing the detergent and water, and that the foaming effect on the laundry is obtained by delivering water with detergent thanks to the special form. A washer/dryer realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:

In an embodiment of the present invention, a plurality of outlets (9) are provided on the line connecting the additional baffles (5) between the additional baffles (5) on the baffle (4). By means of the outlets (9) positioned between the additional baffles (5), the water is enabled to be delivered onto the laundry in a linear manner. In another embodiment of the present invention, the additional baffle (5) is positioned so as to be in the vicinity of the door of the washer/dryer (1). 1. A washer/dryer (1) comprising a body (2); a drum (3) which is disposed into the body (2) and wherein the washing and/or drying process is realized; at least one baffle (4) which is fixed onto the inner wall of the drum (3) and which has a base(6), at least two side walls (8) and a ceiling
(7) connecting the two side walls (8), characterized by at least one additional baffle (5) which extends from the base (6) towards the axis of rotation of the drum (3) along the side walls (8) and which gains a different form on the baffle (4) by creating a protrusion on the side walls
(8) of the baffle (4).
2. A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by at least one outlet (9) which is provided on the additional baffle (5) and the baffle (4) to discharge the water in the baffle (4) and the additional baffle (5) into the drum (3).
3. A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the cylindrical additional baffle (5).
4. A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 3, characterized by the additional baffle (5) comprising the curvilinear protrusion formed on the side walls (8).
5. A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 1, characterized by the additional baffle (5) in the form of a quadrangular prism.
6. A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 5, characterized by the additional baffle (5) in the form of a cube.
7. A washer/dryer (1) as in Claim 5 or 6, characterized by the additional baffle (5) comprising the planar protrusion formed on the side walls (8).
8. A washer/dryer (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the two identical additional baffles (5) on the baffle (4).
9. A washer/dryer (1) as in any one of the claims 1 to 7, characterized by the two additional baffles (5) having different sizes on the baffle (4).
10. A washer/dryer (1) as in any one of the claims 1 to 7, characterized by the two additional baffles (5) having different forms on the baffle (4).
11. A washer/dryer (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by the two additional baffles (5) which are concentrically placed on the baffle (4).
12. A washer/dryer (1) as in any one of the above claims, characterized by at least one guiding member (10) on the inner wall of the additional baffle
