Derartige Vorrichtungen sind z. B. als so genannte Engine Order Cancellation Systeme, kurz EOC-Systeme, aus dem Bereich der Kraftfahrzeugaudiotechnik an und für sich bekannt. Aufgabe und Funktion entsprechender Vorrichtungen besteht darin, gezielt akustische Kompensationssignale zu erzeugen, welche, z. B. aufgrund einer Frequenzumkehr, der Kompensation von (harmonischen) akustischen Signalen, welche aus dem Betrieb eines kraftfahrzeugseitigen Antriebsaggregats resultieren, dienen. Hierfür umfassen entsprechende Vorrichtungen eine Signalerzeugungseinrichtung, welche zur Erzeugung entsprechender akustischer Kompensationssignale eingerichtet ist, sowie eine der Signalerzeugungseinrichtung zugeordnete Steuereinrichtung, welche zur Steuerung des Betriebs der Signalerzeugungseinrichtung eingerichtet ist.Such devices are known in the field of motor vehicle audio technology, for example as so-called engine order cancellation systems, or EOC systems for short. Einflüsse, d. h. z. B. akustische Einflüsse anderer Verkehrsteilnehmer, d. h. z. B. Antriebsaggregate anderer Kraftfahrzeuge, akustische Einflüsse bei Ein- bzw. Durchfahren eines Tunnels, etc., zu für einen Fahrzeuginsassen gegebenenfalls hörbaren und gegebenenfalls als störend empfundenen Artefakten kommen. Dies begründet sich im Wesentlichen dadurch, dass bekannte Vorrichtungen nicht "erkennen können", ob ein akustisches Signal tatsächlich aus dem Betrieb des kraftfahrzeugseitigen Antriebsaggregats resultiert. Die Richtungsinformation beschreibt sonach die Ausbreitungsrichtung eines oder mehrerer Signale (innerhalb eines mit der Vorrichtung ausgestatteten Kraftfahrzeugs, d. h. insbesondere innerhalb der Fahrgastzelle eines mit der Vorrichtung ausgestatteten Kraftfahrzeugs). - Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the control device (7) is provided to commission the signal generating device (6) such that for such acoustic signals (5), to which an associated direction information describes that these have no propagation direction starting from a motor vehicle side propulsion unit (4) or a motor vehicle side propulsion unit (4) receiving region of a motor vehicle equipped with device (1) (2), this compensating acoustic compensation signal (3) is generated.
- Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that the control device (7) is provided, captured acoustic signals (10), which do not result from the operation of the motor vehicle-side propulsion unit (4), in particular from a plurality of detected acoustic signals (5, 10) different in their propagation direction to dampen and/or filter.
- Device according to one of the preceding claims, characterised in that an audible signal (10), which does not emanate from an engine-side propulsion unit (4) of a motor vehicle equipped with device (1) (2) or a motor vehicle-side propulsion unit (4) receiving region of a motor vehicle equipped with the device (1) (2), is generated from a signal source located outside a motor vehicle equipped with the device (1) (2).

- Method for operating a device (1) according to any one of claims 1-11, comprising the steps:- detecting at least one acoustic signal (5, 10),- determining of the direction of propagation of at least one recorded acoustic signal (5, 10),- generating of directional information describing the direction of propagation of at least one recorded acoustic signal (5, 10);- controlling the operation of the signal generating device (6) on the basis of the generated direction information, wherein the operation of the signal generating device (6) is controlled with the proviso that signals whose propagation direction indicates that they do not originate from the area of the motor vehicle side propulsion unit, i.e. do not spread from the motor vehicle side propulsion unit, and therefore do not result from the operation of the motor vehicle-side propulsion unit.
