Description

ELEVATOR LANDING DOOR ASSEMBLY AND METHOD FOR INSTALLING THE LANDING DOOR
The present invention relates to an elevator landing door assembly as defined in the preamble of claim 1 and to a method for installing the landing door as defined in the preamble of claim 9.
In prior art solutions elevator landing doors are transport- ed to installation places as separate components, usually door panels, a top track for supporting the door panels and other landing door components are brought all separately to an installation location and a fitter installs each landing door one component at a time. In addition, the landing doors must be adjusted in the shaft in connection with the installation. This is time consuming and depending on the circumstances in the elevator shaft the installation work may suffer from many kinds of quality deficiencies. A long installation time means also high labor costs.
One object of the present invention is to eliminate the drawbacks described above and to achieve a fast, reliable and cost-efficient elevator landing door assembly and method for installing the landing door. Another object of the pre- sent invention is to achieve an elevator landing door assembly and method for installing the landing door where the landing door can be assembled as a landing door entity already outside the elevator shaft, for example, in a factory, where the assembled landing door entity can be adjusted in easy circumstances outside the elevator shaft, for example, in a factory. The elevator landing door assembly according to the invention is characterized by what is presented in the characterization part of claim 1. Correspondingly, the method for installing the landing door according to the invention is characterized by what is presented in the characterization part of claim 9. Other embodiments of the invention are characterized by what is presented in the other claims .
The inventive content of the application can also be defined differently than in the claims presented below. The inventive content may also consist of several separate inventions, especially if the invention is considered in the light of expressions or implicit sub-tasks or from the point of view of advantages or categories of advantages achieved. In this case, some of the attributes contained in the claims below may be superfluous from the point of view of separate inventive concepts. Likewise, the different details presented in connection with each embodiment can also be applied in other embodiments. In addition, it can be stated that at least some of the subordinate claims can, in at least some situations, be deemed to be inventive in their own right.
In order to achieve the objectives mentioned above, the present invention provides an elevator landing door assembly in an elevator comprising at least an elevator car moving in an elevator shaft and serving a plurality of floors with a landing door that forms an access from a floor into the elevator car, and which landing door assembly comprises at least a top track and at least one door panel suspended mov- ably by the top track. A rather common door assembly comprises two door panels. In case of more than two door panels, a four door panels assembly is common. Advantageously the top track comprises at least two supporting beams that are joined end to end to each other with a connecting element to form the top track.
Advantageously the landing door assembly comprises a landing door package for storage and/or transportation, in which package at least the door panels are pre-assembled and pre- adjusted onto the supporting beams of the top track, and in which package that comprises a connection element, such as a hinge or a form locking element, for connecting the support- ing beams together, the pre-assembled door panels and supporting beams are folded or placed side by side. The invention could be seen also as a landing door package for storage and/or transportation. The elevator landing door assembly and the method for installing the landing door according to the invention, afterwards more shortly the solution according to the invention, has the advantage among other things that it saves a lot of time when installing landing doors because the door compo- nents are pre-assembled and pre-adjusted already in the manufacturing factory. And, thanks to said pre-assembly and pre-adj ustments the final installation at the installation location is easy and all the quality requirements are easy to achieve.
Further, the solution according to the invention has an advantage that the connecting element between the supporting beams of the top track automatically makes the alignment of the top track when the landing door assembly is installed in a landing door opening. For instance, in case of a typical straight top track the connecting element aligns the two halves of the top track straight in line end to end and one after the other.
In the following, the invention will be described in detail by the aid of embodiment examples by referring to the at- tached simplified and diagrammatic drawings, wherein presents in a simplified and diagrammatic oblique top view a landing door assembly according to the invention in a floor of a building,
presents in a simplified and diagrammatic front view an elevator landing door assembly according to the invention seen from the elevator shaft, presents in a simplified and diagrammatic top view the elevator landing door assembly according to Fig. 2,
presents in a simplified and diagrammatic top view the elevator landing door assembly according to Fig. 2 folded in the transporting position, presents in a simplified and diagrammatic end view the elevator landing door assembly according to Fig. 2 folded into the transporting position, presents in a simplified and diagrammatic end view the elevator landing door assembly according to another advantageous solution of the invention folded into the transporting position,
presents in a simplified and diagrammatic front view an elevator landing door assembly according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention seen from the elevator shaft,
presents in a simplified and diagrammatic end view the elevator landing door assembly according to Fig. 7 folded in the transporting position, and Fig. 9 presents in a simplified and diagrammatic top view the elevator landing door assembly according to Fig. 7 folded into the transporting position. The main focus of the invention is to achieve a simple and reliably functioning elevator landing door assembly, in which assembly the door panels and top track can be pre- assembled and pre-adjusted in a manufacturing factory and packed to a narrower unit for easy transportation and in- stallation. For example, the pre-assembled and pre-adjusted the door panels and top track with their customary components can be folded or placed in half or about half, one door panel and supporting beam upon the other door panel and supporting beam, or side by side. Figure 1 presents in a sim- plified and diagrammatic oblique top view an installed elevator landing door assembly according to the invention in a floor of a building. The landing door 1 with its top track 5, door panels 4 and door sill 3a has been installed into a base door opening 3 formed in a wall 2 of the building, which base door opening 3 opens to the elevator shaft. The landing door 1 is arranged to be installed into the base door opening 3 as a complete entity or only as a few parts of a whole. Advantageously the landing door assembly according to the invention is a factory-made package that comprises at least a top track 5 with its customary components and door panels 4 horizontally movably installed and adjusted onto the top track 5 and equipped with their customary components.
In Figure 1 the landing door installation is not yet complete, so the two supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 and a connecting element 6, such as a hinge between the two supporting beams 5a are seen above the door panels 4, and also a part of the doorsill 3a is seen. The structure of the landing door 5 does not necessarily cover the whole base door opening 3, but the final covering is implemented with covering plates or corresponding structures that are fitted to close all the gaps between edges of the base door opening 3 and the door panels 4 and other door components both at the sides of the base door opening 3 and above it.
Figures 2 and 3 present in a simplified and diagrammatic front and top view the elevator landing door assembly according to the invention. Figure 2 presents the landing door assembly seen from the elevator shaft, and Figure 3 presents the elevator landing door assembly according to Fig. 2 seen from above. In the situation of Figures 2 and 3 the landing door assembly has been unfolded to its working position where the two supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 are in an essentially straight line end to end and one after the other and joined to each other at their ends or near their ends with the connecting element 6 that, preferably at the same time, aligns the supporting beams 5a to a straight line . The terms "end to end" and "one after the other" in this connection means that when joined together the supporting beams 5a are substantially in a straight line physically one after the other and preferably there is a narrow gap between their opposing ends for the connecting element 6.
In this embodiment the connecting element 6 is preferably a hinge. Preferably both the supporting beams 5a are similar to each other but they can also be different. For instance, the length of the supporting beams 5a can be different.
In the embodiment example, the landing door assembly com- prises two door panels 4 that have been installed slidably onto the top track 5. Preferably each door panel 4 has been installed onto its own supporting beam 5a of the top track 5. The door panels 4 are supported by slide guides 7 that are arranged to slide on a sliding surface 5b of the sup- porting beams 5a of the top track 5. Depending on the structure of the landing door assembly the door panels 4 can be only one or more than two.
The connecting element 6 between the opposite ends of the supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 can be any kind of connecting element that also aligns the supporting beams 5a into straight line one after the other when the top track 5 is installed. Preferably the connecting element 6 is a hinge that makes it possible to fold the supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 side by side and to unfold the side by side folded supporting beams 5a to a straight top track 5 where the supporting beams 5a are in the straight line one after the other. When folded the entire top track 5 is preferably folded substantially in half.
Figures 4 and 5 present in a simplified and diagrammatic top and end view the elevator landing door assembly according to the invention folded into the transporting and/or storage position. Figure 4 presents the folded landing door assembly seen from above, and Figure 5 presents the folded landing door assembly seen from the free ends of the folded supporting beams 5a of the top track 5. Figure 6 presents in a simplified and diagrammatic end view the elevator landing door assembly according to another advantageous solution of the invention folded into the transporting and/or storage position. In this embodiment, the structure of the landing door assembly can be otherwise the same as the structure of the landing door assembly in Figures 1-5 but now the guiding of the door panels 4 is different. Instead of slide guides this embodiment has roller guides with guide rollers 9 and counter rollers 10. The shafts of the rollers 9 and 10 have been fastened to supporting plates 8 that also support the door panels 4.
Figure 7 presents in a simplified and diagrammatic front view the elevator landing door assembly according to another advantageous embodiment of the invention seen from the elevator shaft. In the situation of Figure 7 the landing door assembly has been assembled to its working position where the two supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 are in an essentially straight line one after the other and connected to each other at their ends with a connecting element 6 that comprises a form locking element 6b that aligns and locks the supporting beams 5a in a straight line one after the other when the top track 5 and the whole landing door assembly is installed into its location.
For the sake of clarity, the form locking element 6b presented in Figures 7-9 is as simple as possible and comprises locking plates, bolts and nuts by which the supporting beams 5a are connected and locked to each other forming a straight top track 5 where the supporting beams 5a are one after the other. However, the form locking element 6b between the op- posite ends of the supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 can be any kind of element that is fast and easy to use and that makes it possible to place the supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 side by side and to open the side by side placed supporting beams 5a to a straight top track 5 where the supporting beams 5a are in the straight line one after the other.
Figures 8 and 9 present in a simplified and diagrammatic end and top view the elevator landing door assembly according to Figure 7 placed into the transporting and/or storage position. Figure 8 presents the side by side placed landing door assembly seen from the free ends of the supporting beams 5a of the top track 5, and Figure 9 presents the side by side placed landing door assembly seen from above.
In the embodiment example of Figures 7-9, the landing door assembly is otherwise essentially similar to the landing door assembly presented in Figures 1-5 or 6 but the connec- tion between the supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 is different .
According to the invention the door panels 4 with their customary components and the top track 5 with its supporting beams 5a and connecting element 6 and with its other customary components are assembled to one entity in a manufacturing factory. The assembled entity is called a landing door package. At this stage, all the needed customary components are assembled onto the both halves or supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 and the supporting beams 5a are joined to each other at their opposite ends with the connecting element 6, such as a hinge 6a or form locking element 6b. Pref- erably also the door panels 4 with their all needed customary components are assembled onto the both supporting beams 5a of the top track 5. In addition, the door panels 4 and all the customary components of the landing door assembly are adjusted so that they work properly without any additional adjustment when the installation of the landing door assembly has completed. When all the components have been assembled and adjusted the landing door package is ready for storage or transportation.
Thanks to its folded or packed structure the landing door package is easy to transport and install because in a lateral and vertical direction the package needs only a little more room than one single door panel 4. In the elevator shaft the supporting beams 5a of the top track 5 with the door panels 4 are unfolded or opened to the working position and the landing door assembly is fastened to the frames of the landing door 1. No adjustment is needed anymore because all the adjustment work has already been made in the manufacturing factory.
The landing door assembly with the form locking element 6b is manufactured and assembled ready in the manufacturing factory otherwise essentially in the same manner as the landing door assembly with the hinge 6a. However, one difference is that in the landing door package with the form locking element 6b is not folded in half but the both halves with the supporting beams and door panels of the landing door assembly are placed one upon the other or side by side. The form locking version of the landing door assembly differs also from the hinge version of the landing door assembly in that it is not unfolded open in the installation phase but only the two one upon the other placed halves of the landing door assembly are placed one after the other and the supporting beams 5a of the halves are connected to each other with the form locking element 6b.
It is obvious to the person skilled in the art that the in- vention is not restricted to the example described above but that it may be varied within the scope of the claims presented below. For example, instead of a landing door with two door panels where the door opens from the middle the door may also open from one side. In that case both the door panels open in the same direction to one side of the landing door opening. In that case the size of the two supporting beams of the top track may be different.
