Hierbei besteht die Gefahr, dass der Kolben, wenn er zunächst einseitig mit der Kartuschenwand in Berührung kommt, verkanten kann. Dies kann zur Beschädigung der dünnen und deshalb empfindlichen Dichtlippe am Kolbenumfang führen, mit der Folge, dass der Kolben dann das hintere Kartuschenende nicht mehr zuverlässig abgedichtet, und dass die Füllmasse durch Luftzutritt verdirbt. Dabei ist wegen der nur punktuellen Berührung der einzelnen Rippen mit der Kartuschenwand der bei dieser Berührung auftretende Reibungswiderstand nur gering, andererseits aber durch den Rippenkranz die Steifigkeit des Umfangsbereichs der Deckwand am Übergang zur Mantelwand sehr hoch, was eine entsprechend geringe Verkantungsneigung bedingt. Dies steht im Gegensatz zu herkömmlichen Kolben, bei denen ein geschlossener Deckwandumfang am vorderen Kolbenende beim Setzen mit der Einführschräge der Kartusche in Berührung kommt, wo bei nicht exakt zentrischem Einführen eine hohe einseitige Reibung zwischen Kolben und Kartusche auftritt und durch Kippen des Kolbens um diese einseitige Reibungslinie ein Verkanten des Kolbens und ein Verformen beim Einsetzen begünstigt wird.
