Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The present invention relates to a system for a bed, comprising a mattress and a sheet.
  • BACKGROUND
  • Arranging of a sheet on a mattress can be time consuming. A sheet may also move when the bed is used and thus the sheet needs to be moved back into position, which of course also takes time. There are solutions with specially sewn sheets that has either elastic band on the corners that tightens the sheet around the mattress.
  • In case a mattress topper is used, there are specially sized sheets with corners sewn in in such a way that they can be forced around the corners of the mattress topper by bending the mattress topper slightly.
  • In addition, with a mattress topper, this topper will also move when the bed is used and as a result, it will need to be moved back into position. Moving a mattress topper can be quite heavy, especially for a queen size bed or bigger.
  • SUMMARY
  • It is an object of the present invention to provide a system for a bed in order to alleviate the above mentioned issues. This is achieved with a bed system according to the appended claims
  • According to a first aspect of the present disclosure, a system for a bed comprises a mattress and a sheet. The mattress comprises one row of zipper teeth around the perimeter of the mattress and the sheet has a corresponding row of zipper teeth for attaching the sheet to the mattress and wherein at least one of the rows of zipper teeth has a slider arranged such that the sheet and the mattress are attachable to each other by the zipper made from said rows of zipper teeth.
  • The sheet will be kept in place by the zipper and thus no time needs to be spent on re-positioning of the sheet.
  • According to another aspect of the present disclosure the system further comprises a mattress topper arranged between the mattress and the sheet. A mattress topper is in prior art used for wrapping the sheet around when making the bed but also to further adjust the softness of the bed. Regarding this aspect of the disclosure, the mattress topper will be kept in place by the sheet since the sheet is attached to the mattress below the mattress topper.
  • According to yet another aspect of the present disclosure the mattress topper comprises a row of zipper teeth for connecting with the mattress, wherein the mattress has a second row of zipper teeth.
  • Depending on the characteristics of the mattress topper, there might be instances when the mattress topper also needs to be fixed relative the mattress. For instance, if the mattress topper is too heavy/big the forces on the sheet might become too large for the sheet to handle and could possible rip.
  • In some instances it could be beneficial to cover the zipper fastening the sheet to the mattress, for instance in order to avoid something getting caught in the zipper. Thus, regarding this, the sheet might comprise a skirt along the zipper teeth for covering the zipper when arranged on the mattress. The skirt would then hang down over the zipper by its own weight.
  • According to one alternative aspect of the present disclosure, the zipper teeth for the sheet is made of plastic. One advantage is that there is less wear on the sheet when being washed as compared to a metal one. However, there might be instances when a metal zipper is needed since the plastic zippers have a more limited strength than metal zippers. Thus, according to this aspect of the disclosure the zipper teeth for the sheet is made of metal.
  • Since a mattress topper generally is heavier than a sheet the zipper teeth for the mattress topper is according to an aspect of the present disclosure made of metal. Sometimes a slider of a zipper might break and thus, according to one aspect of the present disclosure the slider for the sheet to mattress zipper is arranged on the sheet part of the zipper. If the slider breaks, it is of course easier to replace the zipper part of the sheet than to replace the one on the mattress. An option would also be to replace the entire sheet that has its own new zipper part to fit with the zipper part of the mattress. Replacing the sheet as compared to the mattress is also more cost efficient.
  • With the same reasoning as with the slider on the sheet, according to one aspect of the present disclosure, the slider for the mattress topper zipper is arranged on the mattress topper part of the zipper.
  • Further features of, and advantages with, the present invention will become apparent when studying the appended claims and the following description. The skilled person realize that different features of the present invention may be combined to create embodiments other than those described in the following, without departing from the scope of the present invention.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
  • The above, as well as additional objects, features and advantages of the present invention, will be better understood through the following illustrative and non-limiting detailed description of exemplary embodiments of the present invention, wherein:
    • Figure 1 is a perspective view of a bed with a bed system according to one embodiment of the present disclosure.
    • Figure 2 is a perspective view of a bed with a bed system according to a further embodiment of the present disclosure.
    • Figure 3 is a perspective view of the bed system shown in figure 2 further showing a sheet according to the present disclosure.
    • Figure 4 is a perspective view of a bed system according to an alternative embodiment of the present disclosure.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF EXAMPLE EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
  • The present invention will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown. The invention may, however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein; rather, these embodiments are provided for thoroughness and completeness. Like reference character refer to like elements throughout the description.
  • With reference to figure 1, a system 1 for a bed is shown that comprises a mattress 2 and a sheet 3. The mattress 2 comprises one row of zipper teeth 4 around the perimeter of the mattress 2 and the sheet 3 has a corresponding row of zipper teeth 5 for attaching the sheet 3 to the mattress 2. One of the rows of zipper teeth has a slider 6 arranged such that the sheet and the mattress are attachable to each other by the zipper 7 made from said rows of zipper teeth 4, 5. With a sheet 3 that can only be attached to the bed in one way makes it much easier to make the bed, especially if it is a larger bed like a queen size bed or a king size bed.
  • Turning to figure 2, a bed system 1 is shown that further comprises a mattress topper 8. The mattress topper 8 is arranged between the mattress 2 and the sheet. In the shown embodiment the mattress topper 8 comprises a row of zipper teeth 9 for connecting with the mattress 2 that has a second row of zipper teeth 10 and wherein one of the rows of zipper teeth has a slider 11.
  • Continuing to figure 3, the sheet 3 has been applied to the bed system 1 shown in figure 2. Thus, the sheet 3 when fully attached with the zipper 7 will cover the zipper holding the mattress topper 8 in position. The difference to the bed system 1 shown in figure 1 is that there is a mattress topper 8 positioned in between the mattress 2 and the sheet 3. The use of a mattress topper 8 is most common in northern Europe, more specifically a Scandinavian style mattress topper.
  • In figure 4 the sheet 3 comprises a skirt 12 along the zipper teeth 5 for covering the zipper 7 when arranged on the mattress 2. This could sometimes be desirable, especially if the zipper is made of a metal, i.e. when someone in the bed slides down from it, it could possibly feel cold against the skin.
  • It is to be understood that the present invention is not limited to the embodiments described above and illustrated in the drawings; rather, the skilled person will recognize that many changes and modifications may be made within the scope of the appended claims. For example, the bed could be of a continental type, i.e. with a mattress base and a further mattress on top of the base. In some countries this is also combined with a mattress topper such that there are three mattress layers.
