Abstract
ADJUSTABLE LIGHT BULB, with a casing (2) provided with transparent protective optics cover (4) and light source (5) comprising a manually operated mechanism (6) that regulates the opening angle (a) of the illumination beam to expand or reduce it without changing its shape or dimension. The mechanism (6) is threaded and modifies the separation between the light source (5) and the optics cover (4), having: an external rotating part (61), provided with an internal thread area (611); and a internal non-rotating part (62), with an external thread area (621) that threads on the internal thread (611), such that, the rotation of the external part (61) determines the linear sliding of the internal part (62) inside the casing (2), approaching it or moving it away from the optics cover (4).
Description
- The invention, as expressed in the statement of the present specification, relates to an adjustable light bulb that provides, to the function to which it is intended, advantages and characteristics, which are described in detail below, which represent a remarkable novelty in the current state of the art.
- More specifically, the object of the invention focuses on a light bulb, preferably a LED-type light bulb, whose opening angle of illumination beam can be regulated at will thanks to the structural configuration of the casing in which the light source is housed, wherein a threaded mechanism is contemplated allowing, in a practical and simple way, modifying its separation with the front lens and thereby expanding or reducing said angle of the beam to adjust the amount of illumination provided by the light bulb as a function of the needs from each moment without changing its original form.
- The field of application of the present invention is part of the sector of the industry dedicated to the manufacture of lighting devices and systems, focusing specifically on the field of light bulbs and spotlights, particularly comprising LED light bulbs and spotlights.
- As is known, the opening angle of the beam of a light bulb can be defined as the amplitude of light where most of the lighting of the light bulb will be concentrated. And the amount of light that each light bulb gives depends not only on whether it has a greater number of lumens, but also on the opening angle thereof, that is, on how focused the light emitted is.
- In addition, the amount of light in a plane is directly proportional to the luminous flux or quantity of lumens and inversely proportional to the solid angle of the light bulb or luminaire, whereby, the greater the number of lumens in a light bulb, the greater the sensation of illumination in a concrete space, but the greater opening angle, even with the same amount of lumens, the less sensation of illumination in said space.
- Given this, and given that on a few occasions users may need or wish to have more or less amount of lighting concentrated in the space that illuminates a light bulb, it would be desirable to be able to modify its opening angle of light beam without it being necessary to replace the type of lamp with a different screen or replace the light bulb with a different one with another greater or lesser opening angle, something necessary until now, since the light bulbs currently on the market are fixed and compact structures that do not allow modifying said angle once manufactured.
- Therefore, the aim of the present invention is to provide the market with an innovative type of adjustable light bulb to allow the regulation of said opening angle of its light beam, to be able to modify it at will, it being noted that, at least on the part of the applicant and as a reference to the current state of the art, it is unknown the existence of any other light bulb that exhibits technical, structural and constitutive characteristics identical or similar to those claimed here, mainly because although there are light bulbs that change the light beam, opening, they do so by varying their original shape, while the light bulb of the invention does not change that shape or its dimension, which is a novelty.
- The adjustable light bulb proposed by the invention is configured, therefore, as a novelty within its field of application, since according to its implementation and in a restrictive manner, the objectives previously indicated as suitable are satisfactorily achieved, with the characteristic details that make it possible and distinguish it being conveniently collected in the final claims that accompany the present description.
- More specifically, that proposed by the invention, as pointed out above, is a light bulb, preferably a LED-type light bulb, which has the innovative feature of having a structural configuration provided with a mechanism that allows to adjust the opening angle at will of the light beam that projects to be able to expand or reduce it as a function of the needs or preferences of the user in each case without changing the appearance, shape or external dimensions of the lamp.
- Preferably, said mechanism is a screw mechanism comprised in the casing of the light bulb, thanks to which, by simple manual rotation of a moving part of said casing, the separation existing in its interior between the light source and a lens preferably provided as cover of the front end of the casing is modified, and thereby expanding or reducing the cited opening angle of the beam projecting through it, thus allowing adjusting the amount of illumination provided by the light bulb and the surface on which it is projected, and it should be noted that with this system the cable does not undergo any torsion.
- It should be noted that the casing has the standard coupling means of the market, to be able to engage it conveniently to the lamp holder, which, preferably, are of type GU10 and GU5.3, with coupling by means of pivots.
- Also, preferably, the different components of the light bulb combine parts made of plastic and aluminum, while the transparent protective optics cover of the end of the casing is a special lens with optical magnifying glass-like qualities.
- The described adjustable light bulb represents, then, an innovation of structural and constitutive characteristics unknown until now, reasons that, together with its practical utility, provide it with sufficient grounds to obtain the privilege of exclusivity that is claimed.
- In order to complement the description that is being carried out and with the object to help to a better understanding of the characteristics of the invention, a set of drawings is accompanied to the present specification as an integral part thereof, in which, with an illustrative and non-limiting character, the following has been represented:
-
Figure 1 .- It shows an elevational and exploded view of an example of the adjustable light bulb object of the invention, appreciating the main parts that comprise it. -
Figure 2 .- It shows an elevational view of the example of the light bulb of the invention shown inFigure 1 , in this case represented with all the parts assembled, its external general configuration being appreciated. -
Figure 3 .- It shows a sectional view of the proposed light bulb, according to the same example shown inFigures 1 and 2 , appreciating the arrangement and configuration of its parts inside the same. -
Figures 4-A, 4-B y 4-C .- They show respective sectional views of the light bulb in successive phases of approaching the light source with respect to the lens in order to reduce the opening angle of the light beam of the same. - And
Figures 5-A, 5-B y 5-C .- They show respective sectional views of the light bulb in successive phases away from the light source with respect to the lens to expand the opening angle of its light beam. - In light of the mentioned figures, and according to the numeration adopted, an example of a non-limiting embodiment of the adjustable light bulb of invention can be observed therein, which comprises the parts and elements which are indicated and described in more detail below.
- Thus, as seen in said figures, the light bulb (1) in question, formed in a conventional manner from a casing (2) of a substantially frustoconical configuration having a smaller rear end, optionally provided with coupling means (not shown) to the lamp holder, and a larger front end with a transparent protective optics cover (4) and incorporating inside a light source (5) the light beam of which projects through said optics cover (4) with certain opening angle (a), is distinguished by comprising a manually operated mechanism (6) to regulate at will the opening angle (a) of the light beam that projects the light bulb (1) and expand or reduce it, as a function of the needs or preferences of the user in each case, without changing the external shape or size of the light bulb (1).
- Preferably, the cited mechanism (6) is a screw mechanism integrated in the casing (2) the rotation of which modifies the separation existing inside the casing (2) between the light source (5) and the transparent protective optics cover (4), in such a way that, with such rotation, the cable does not undergo any torsion.
- More specifically, said screw mechanism (6) is basically determined by two parts:
- an external rotating part (61), which engages with possibility of rotation at the front end of the casing (2), between the latter and protective optics cover (4), and which is provided with an internal thread area (611);
- and an internal part (62), in this case non rotating, which has an external thread area (621) thereto which is screwed into the internal thread area (611) of the external rotating part (61), in such a way that, when rotating the external part (61) said threads (611, 621) slide between them and cause the linear sliding of the internal part (62) inside the casing (2), preferably along the a central guide (63), approaching it or moving it away from the front end thereof and, therefore, the optics cover (4) through which the light beam is projected, determining the variation of the opening angle (a) of said beam.
- In the preferred embodiment, the coupling between the front end of the casing (2) and the external rotating part (61) is effected through a male-female coupling (64) between a projection and a recess made respectively in said parts, in a manner they define a channel on which the external rotating part (61) slides when rotating it on a ring (65) incorporated in said channel.
- It should be noted that, preferably, the transparent protective optics cover (4) consists of a lens configured in such a way that, when the light source (5) approaches it, it concentrates the beam thereof and reduces the opening angle (a) of the light bulb light beam and, when moving away from the light source (5), it determines the opposite effect.
- Preferably, the light source (5) is at least one LED and, also preferably, the coupling means (3) are standard coupling pivots for example of the type GU10 and GU5.3.
- Having sufficiently described the nature of the present invention, as well as the way of putting it into practice, it is not considered necessary to further extend its explanation for any person skilled in the art to understand its scope and the advantages derived therefrom, stating that, within its essence, it can be put into practice in other embodiments which differ only in detail from the one indicated by way of example, and which are also covered by the protection which is sought provided that its fundamental principle is not altered, changed or modified.
