Description

The technical field of the invention is that of devices allowing the supply of an automatic weapon with ammunition in strips, and more particularly that of devices intended for weapons having a dual feed.

It is conventional to feed a weapon from ammunition tapes. To avoid shooting incidents, the ammunition bands are generally guided by corridors.

The corridors are most often flexible or semi-rigid corridors. However, when the weapon assembly is compact and when it is sought to drive the bands along paths having a reduced radius of curvature, it is necessary to have recourse to rigid corridors. Indeed, the natural curvature adopted by the flexible or semi-rigid corridors does not make it possible to reduce the size of the corridors. Moreover, flexible corridors are ill-suited to paths combining or alternating different pivotings of the strip.

This is especially true when it is necessary to rotate the ammunition strip 90 ° to drive the ammunition from a magazine in which it is oriented with its axis perpendicular to the vertical plane containing the axis of the gun barrel. towards an opening for introduction into the weapon at which the ammunition has their axis parallel to the axis of the barrel of the weapon.

The patent US5299487 describes a multitube weapon system which is thus fed by rigid corridors.

However, this weapon system is a multitube system concretely comprising several weapons each having its introduction orifice. Each rigid passage is therefore fixed at the level of the introduction orifice in one of the arms and provision is made for a corridor comprising two rectilinear parts sliding with respect to one another to absorb the recoil of the weapon. A recoil for a medium caliber weapon is of the order of 10 to 30 mm (by medium caliber means a caliber between 12.5mm and 40mm).

Such a solution cannot be implemented for a single-tube weapon whose feed device comprises two feed channels intended to convey different ammunition. Such a weapon and its feed device are described by the patent EP129457 . With such a device, the band of ammunition which is not used is moved away from the weapon and it is therefore not possible to attach a rigid passage to each ammunition supply.

It is the object of the invention to provide a feed device for a weapon comprising two tilting feed channels, a device comprising rigid passages making it possible to ensure the compactness of the assembly while ensuring reliable guidance of the bands of fire. ammunition.

Thus, the object of the invention is a device for supplying ammunition in strips for an automatic weapon of the double-feed type, a device comprising two supply channels for ammunition which are arranged on either side of a firing axis. of the weapon, each channel being provided with an arm swinging around an axis parallel to the axis of the weapon so as to be able to position a power star integral with said arm swinging between a position in engagement with a star stationary station and an unobstructed position of the stationary star, device characterized in that it comprises, for each supply channel, at least a first rigid corridor leading a band of ammunition from a magazine to 'in the vicinity of the weapon, and at the level of each rocking arm, a second rigid guide passage comprising an upper mouth connected to a straight part in which the ammunition are guided and progress with their axes substantially parallel to the firing axis and in a substantially vertical direction, the mouth being oriented in a direction substantially perpendicular to the straight part and being disposed opposite an outlet opening of the first rigid passage, the mouth also comprising a flared part forming a guide funnel and making it possible to cover the outlet opening of the first rigid passage when the rocking arm is in its position in engagement with the positioning star.

According to one characteristic, the flared part of the mouth may make it possible to cover the outlet opening of the first rigid corridor also when the rocking arm is in its position free from the positioning star.

Advantageously, the mouthpiece may include a clearance at its upper face.

According to other characteristics, the first rigid corridor may include a part forming a 90 ° plane elbow so as to bring the ammunition to an initial orientation in which they have their axis perpendicular to a vertical plane passing through the axis of the lane. 'weapon in a final orientation, at the level of the exit opening of the first rigid corridor, final orientation in which the ammunition has their axis parallel to the axis of the weapon.

Each rocking arm may include a lower part integral with the weapon and to which the second rigid corridor will be fixed by a deformable parallelogram.

The invention will be better understood on reading the following description of a particular embodiment, description given with reference to the appended drawings and in which:
  • The Figure 1 is a schematic side view of a weapon and its ammunition supply device;
  • The figure 2 is a top view of this weapon and its feed device;
  • The figure 3 is a simplified rear view, following the arrow R marked on the figure 2 , and showing the dual feeder;
  • The figure 4a is a partial view showing the feed device in the released position;
  • The figure 4b is a partial view showing the feed device in the engaged position.

Referring to figures 1 and 2 , a medium-caliber automatic weapon 1 (caliber between 12.5mm and 40mm) comprises a weapon mechanism 1a, integral with a sled allowing recoil (not shown in detail) and a tube 1b. The sled of the weapon 1 is integral with an oscillating support (not shown) which can pivot on journals 2 relative to a mount (not shown) to allow pointing in elevation. The weapon's firing axis 3 has been shown in mixed dots.

As can be seen more particularly at figure 2 , weapon 1 is of the dual feed type (as described by the patent EP129457 ), and the supply device therefore comprises two channels 7a and 7b for supplying ammunition 4 which are arranged on either side of the firing axis 3 of the weapon 1. At each channel 7a or 7b, ammunition 4 is linked in a band 5 ( figure 1 ) which is housed in a magazine 6a or 6b arranged laterally to the weapon.

As can be seen in the figures, the feed device comprises at the level of each channel 7a or 7b a first rigid passage 8a or 8b which leads a strip of ammunition 4 from the magazine 6a or 6b to the vicinity of the weapon 1 .

Chaque étoile 11a ou 11b est solidaire d'un des bras basculant 9a ou 9b.We have schematized at the figure 3 a view of the weapon 1 at the level of the ammunition introduction holes. As described by the patent EP129457 , each channel 7a, 7b is provided with an arm 9a or 9b which is tiltable about an axis 10a or 10b which is parallel to the axis 3 of the weapon. Each arm can thus position a feed star 11a or 11b in an engaged or disengaged manner on a fixed station star 12 carried by the weapon. Each star 11a or 11b is integral with one of the rocking arms 9a or 9b.

For the simplicity of the figures, the stars have not been drawn with all their cells. This device is described by the patent EP129457 which will be referred to for construction details.

The right swinging arm 9a is shown here disengaged from the fixed star 12. The left swinging arm 9b is shown engaged (in engagement) with the fixed star 12. This position corresponds to a supply of the weapon 1 with the ammunition from the left arm 9b.

According to this embodiment of the invention, each feed path 7a and 7b therefore comprises a first rigid passage 8a, 8b which comprises a part forming a plane elbow 13a, 13b of 90 ° ( figure 2 ). This elbow allows as seen at the figure 2 , to bring the ammunition 4 from an initial orientation in which they have their axis 14i which is perpendicular to a vertical plane passing through the axis 3 of the weapon to a final orientation in which the ammunition has their axis 14f which is parallel to axis 3 of the weapon.

The ammunition 4 is found with the initial orientations of their axes 14i at the level of the magazines 6a, 6b and in the right part of the first rigid corridor 8a, 8b. The ammunition 4 is located with the final orientation of their axes 14f at the level of an outlet opening 15a or 15b of the first rigid corridor 8a, 8b.

To improve the guidance of the ammunition bands 4 during this 90 ° pivoting in the first rigid passages 8a, 8b, the bottoms of the first rigid passages 8a, 8b carry one or more rigid bars 21 which have a circular profile and which cooperate with the links of the bands to guide the bands.

The device according to the invention also comprises at the level of each rocking arm 9a, 9b a second rigid guide passage 16a, 16b which comprises an upper mouth 17a, 17b which is connected to a straight part 18a, 18b in which the ammunition 4 are guided and progress with their axes substantially parallel to the firing axis 3 and in a substantially vertical direction V ( figure 3 ).

The mouth 17a or 17b is oriented in a direction substantially perpendicular to the straight part 18a or 18b and it is disposed opposite the outlet opening 15a or 15b of the first rigid passage 8a or 8b.

As seen at the figure 3 , the mouth 17a (or 17b) comprises a flared part 19a or 19b forming a guide funnel and making it possible to cap the outlet opening 15a or 15b of the first rigid passage 8a or 8b when the rocking arm 9a or 9b is in its position engaged with the positioning star 12.

We notice at the figure 3 that each arm 9a, 9b comprises a lower part 22a or 22b which carries the articulation 10a or 10b and on which is fixed the straight part 18a or 18b of the second passage 16a or 16b. The fixing is carried out by two plates 23 which are arranged at the level of the narrow sides of the corridor (see also figure 1 ) and which are articulated both on the right part 18a or 18b and on the lower part 22a or 22b (articulations 24 shown schematically by lines on the figure 3 ). These two plates constitute a deformable parallelogram connecting the second rigid passage 16a or 16b to the lower part 22a, 22b of the arm 9a or 9b. This deformable parallelogram allows limited axial displacement of the weapon 1 (which is integral with the lower part 22a, 22b of the arms) with respect to the second rigid corridors 16a, 16b which are kept relatively to the lookout. This allows the weapon to recoil despite the presence of rigid corridors. The recoil is of the order of 10 to 30mm for automatic weapons of medium caliber.

Such an overall clearance is of the order of 10 mm. It is distributed on either side of the rigid passage 8a or 8b and allows the tilting without interference of the second rigid passage 16a, 16b relative to the first rigid passage 8a, 8b.

Thus the guidance of the ammunition is perfectly ensured by the rigid corridors both at the level of the first rigid corridor 8a, 8b, and at the level of the second rigid corridor 16a, 16b. Guidance is also provided between the second rigid passage 16a, 16b and the lower part 22a, 22b of the arms. There is no risk of the ammunition strip deforming or twisting near the weapon, despite the compactness of the feed device and the 90 ° pivoting of the ammunition which is ensured in the immediate vicinity of the weapon. armed.

It will be noted that the rigid corridors 8a, 8b, 16a and 16b are linked to the oscillating support of the weapon 1 by means not shown and they therefore pivot with this support when aiming in elevation.

We have represented on the figures 4a and 4b the upper part of the right-hand feed path 7a, showing the second rigid passage 16a and its cooperation with the first rigid passage 8a. It is clear that the figure would be similar for the left supply channel 7b, which is symmetrical with the right channel with respect to the vertical plane passing through the axis 3 of the barrel of the weapon.

As can be seen more particularly in figures 4a and 4b , the mouth 17a (or 17b) can cover the outlet opening 15a (or 15b) of the first rigid passage 8a (or 8b) as well in the engaged position of the rocking arm ( figure 4b ) than in the released position of the rocking arm ( figure 4a ). Such an arrangement ensures that the ammunition 4 of the strip is always positioned inside a rigid corridor. The depth P of the flared part 19a (or 19b) will be sufficient to ensure such a function. We also notice on the figures 4a and 4b that the mouth 17a (or 17b) has a recess 20a (or 20b) at its upper face. Such an arrangement, associated with the presence of the flared part 19a (or 19b), allows tilting of the arm without interference with the first rigid passage 8a (or 8b).

The release 20a or 20b also allows access to the ammunition strip to be able to push it manually during the initial loading.

Different variants are possible without departing from the scope of the invention. It is thus possible to produce the deformable parallelogram connecting the lower part of the rocking arm to the second rigid passage in the form of connecting rods connected to the two parts of the arm by ball joints.
