Description

The invention relates to a golf club head, in particular a golf putter head, with a striking part with a striking face and with two stirrups extending from the lateral end sections of the striking part opposite the striking face and crossing each other without contact. The invention also relates to a golf club with a golf club head of this type and a method for producing a golf club head, in particular a golf putter head, with a striking part with a striking surface and with two stirrups extending from the side end sections of the striking part opposite the striking face and crossing each other without contact.

So-called putters are used in golf to hole or putt the golf ball on the green. The golf putter is a golf club with a golf putter head which has properties matched to putting and a shaft with a handle, the shaft being firmly connected to the golf putter head. To adjust the face balance, heel weighting or toe weighting, exchangeable weights are positioned on the golf putter head, which also allow the total weight of the putter head to be increased by up to 250 g.

A golf club head of the type mentioned is from EP 1 892 019 B1 known. The brackets that cross each other in a contactless manner and are provided in this golf club head are screwed onto the end sections of the striking part. It has now been found that these connection points loosen somewhat after a certain period of use of the golf club, which leads to an undesirable hitting behavior of the golf putter. This has the special advantage of the crossed and contactless arranged brackets, namely the insensitivity of the golf putter head to twisting when its face is hit to the side of the center, impaired.

The invention is based on the object of designing and producing a golf club head of the type mentioned at the beginning in a high-quality manner in such a way that the golf club head remains permanently stable even with intensive use.

The object is achieved according to the invention in that the striking part, together with the stirrups, is a mono part made of a high-strength aluminum alloy.

As far as the method of production is concerned, the object is achieved according to the invention in that the striking part is milled together with the stirrups from a piece of a high-strength aluminum alloy.

Due to the design and manufacture as a mono-part, the golf club head remains permanently stable, even with intensive use there is no change in its impact properties. In addition, the material - a high-strength aluminum alloy - guarantees a high quality golf club head.

In a preferred embodiment, the aluminum alloy is an aluminum alloy of the alloy type AlZnMgCu, in particular an alloy of the type EN AW 7075, preferably so-called aircraft aluminum (AlZnMgCul, 5). Aircraft aluminum is particularly suitable because of its high tensile strength. The material of the mono-part of the golf club head can, however, also be another aluminum alloy which corresponds to the tensile strength.

Furthermore, the mono-part is preferably produced by milling. Milling can be carried out fully automatically with the appropriate milling machines.

In a particularly balanced design of the golf club head, the stirrups are each provided with a recess in the intersection area, the stirrups overlapping in the area of the indentations without contact.

When striking with the golf club head, a bright sound is heard. If necessary, this can be dampened by arranging a sound dampening element in the crossing area between the brackets. This sound-damping element is preferably attached to one of the brackets, touches the other bracket and is preferably made of silicone.

The invention further relates to a golf club with a golf club head, which is designed according to one or more of claims 1 to 8.

  • Fig. 3 eine Schrägansicht des Golfschlägerkopfes.
Further features, advantages and details of the invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the drawing, which schematically shows an embodiment. Show
  • FIGS. 1 and 2 Views of the two sides of the golf club head and
  • Fig. 3 an oblique view of the golf club head.

The figures show a golf club head 1, which is particularly suitable and used as a putter head and has an elongated, rod-shaped striking part 2 with a striking surface 2a on the front outer surface. From each end section of the striking part 2 protrudes from the striking face 2a, in the embodiment shown, a bow 3 extending in a top view. The two coincident or largely coincident brackets 3 run from the striking part 2 at decreasing acute angles to this and cross one another in their central areas. With a free end section 3a, each bracket 3 protrudes beyond the crossing area and ends at the level of the attachment area of the other bracket 3 on the striking part 2. Each bracket 3 has a recess 4 in the crossing area that is adapted to the shape of the outer contours of the crossing bracket 3, so that the two brackets 3 in the region of the depressions 4 overlap but do not touch. The depressions 4 are dimensioned in such a way that gaps laterally with respect to the second bracket 3 in each case in the order of magnitude of in particular 1.0 mm to 2.0 mm, and 2.0 mm to 3.0 mm at the bottom of the depressions 4.

In the embodiment shown, the end sections 3a of the brackets 3 are essentially round, in particular circular, widenings of the brackets 3 and each side of the bracket is provided with an internally threaded recess for screwing in weights 5. In this way, weights 5 of different weights can be positioned on the temple end areas in an exchangeable manner.

The side surfaces 2b of the striking part 2 directly adjoining the striking surface 2a preferably merge continuously into the side surfaces of the bow. In the area of the lateral end sections of one of these side surfaces 2b of the striking part 2, a further recess with an internal thread, which is circular in plan view, is formed so that weights 5 can also be screwed on interchangeably at these positions. On the opposite side surface 2b of the striking part 2, a socket 6 for receiving and fastening a club shaft, not shown, is formed.

In a preferred embodiment, a hole 7 penetrating this bracket 3 is formed on one of the brackets 3 in the intersection area, in which a sound-damping element 8 can be inserted which touches or contacts the second bracket 3 at the bottom of its recess 4. The sound dampening element 8 is, for example, a silicone stopper and has the effect of dampening the sound caused when hitting the golf ball. The sound-damping element 8 in no way affects the desired mutual mobility of the brackets 3, which do not directly contact one another, and slides off the bracket 3 contacted by it without significant friction when the two brackets 3 move slightly.

The golf club head 1 is - apart from the weights 5 which can be positioned on it and the sound-damping element 8 - a mono-part, that is to say designed and manufactured in one piece. The mono part consists of a high-strength aluminum alloy, preferably an aluminum alloy of the alloy type AlZnMgCu, in particular of EN AW 7075, preferably so-called aircraft aluminum (AlZnMgCu1,5) and is milled from a piece of this material.

One of the customary CAD-controlled milling machines suitable for metalworking, for example a triple milling machine or a five-way milling machine, can be used to produce the mono-part.

The finished milled mono part is provided with an anti-slip coating in particular.

By means of the weights 5, on the one hand, a lateral balancing of the golf club head 1 and, on the other hand, a shift of the center of gravity of the golf club head 1, in particular in the direction of the free end sections 3a of the bracket 3, can be undertaken.

The brackets that cross each other and are arranged in a contactless manner advantageously make the golf club head 1 insensitive to rotation when its striking surface is hit on the side of the sweet spot (the center). The design as a mono-part advantageously ensures that the golf club head remains permanently stable even with intensive use.
