Description

    A DISHWASHER
  • The present invention relates to a dishwasher with improved washing efficiency.
  • In dishwashers, washing is performed by spraying water coming through a main supply line on the dishes by means of spray arms. Spraying members provided on the spray arm enable spraying of water on the dishes with a certain pressure. The flow rate and the pressure of the sprayed water is of utmost importance in terms of cleaning the dishes. Various spray arms have been designed in order to obtain a high washing performance. Spray arms with a wider washing area are used for this purpose. Spray arm designs also affect water consumption. Spray arms having a wider washing area require larger amounts of water for the sake of providing the water flow rate at hand. Therefore, water consumption increases. Desired washing performance cannot be achieved with spray arms having a larger washing area and spraying water at low flow rates.
  • State of the art United Kingdom patent application document no. GB551349 discloses a dishwasher comprising a circular spray arm enabling enlarging of the washing area.
  • The aim of the present invention is to realize a dishwasher with improved washing efficiency.
  • The dishwasher realized to achieve the aim of the present invention and disclosed in the first claim and the dependent claims comprises a body, a washing tub provided on the body, in which washing is performed, and at least one spray arm. The spray arm has a circular shape. By this, washing area is enlarged. A plurality of nozzles are arranged on the spray arm, to enable spraying of water.
  • In the dishwasher of the invention, a covering member is provided on the spray arm. The covering member is movable on the spray arm. Further, the covering member covers a plurality of nozzles. By this, regional and homogeneous washing is enabled.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a movement member moving by the force of water coming out of a nozzle. The movement member is positioned adjacent to the covering member. Water pushes the movement member backwards. The covering member is enabled to move on the spray arm upon pushing of the movement member backwards.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a covering member moving by rotating on the spray arm and a movement member of a trapezoid shape.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises nozzles having a trapezoid shape. The water sprayed through a nozzle is enabled to advance forwards and upwards due to the trapezoid shape. The height of the movement member decreases in direction of the water sprayed through the nozzle. By this, the movement member is enabled to move by the minimal water force.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a nozzle channel provided on the covering member through which the nozzles pass. The nozzle channel surrounds the nozzles.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a plurality of flaps provided on the nozzle channel. By means of the flaps, spraying water through nozzles in the nozzle channel is obstructed. The flaps are fixed on a surface of the nozzle channel so as not to obstruct movement of the movement member. They have an elastic structure.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a locking member enabling the covering member to stay stationary on the spray arm. By this, the covering member does not move on the spray arm and regional washing is enabled.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a plurality of balls provided on the covering member. The movement of the covering member on the spray arm is facilitated by means of the balls.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a ball channel provided on the covering member. The balls rotating about themselves are prevented from escaping from the covering member by means of the ball channel.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher comprises a spray arm composed of two nested circles. The nozzles are provided on the circles. Using a higher number of nozzles is enabled by increasing the area of the spray arm.

  • The dishwasher (1) comprises a body (2), a washing tub (3) provided on the body (2), in which washing is performed, a spray arm (4) of circular structure, enabling spraying of water in the washing tub (3), and a plurality of nozzles (5) arranged on the spray arm (4), enabling guiding of water. Since the washing area is enlarged with a circular spray arm (4), the number of nozzles (5) provided thereon increase. By this, the enlarging of the washing area is enabled. (Figure 1)
  • The dishwasher (1) of the invention comprises a covering member (6) covering some of the nozzles (5) and movable on the spray arm (4) due to the compressive force of water coming out of the nozzles (5). The covering member (6) obstructs exiting of water by covering a plurality of nozzles (5). Thus, water is sprayed with a high flow rate through the rest of the nozzles (5). The covering member (6) periodically and constantly rotates on the spray arm (4). The speed of the covering member (6) is determined by the effect of water coming out of the nozzles (5).
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a movement member (7) positioned adjacent to the covering member (6) so as to move due to the effect of water coming out of the nozzles (5), enabling movement of the covering member (6) upon its movement. The movement member (7) enables the covering member (6) to cover separate nozzles (5) by translocating on the spray arm (4). By this, homogeneous washing is enabled by means of a high flow rate.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a movement member (7) of a trapezoid shape, enabling translocation of the covering member (6) by rotating on the circular spray arm (4). A greater translocation by smaller forces is provided thanks to the trapezoid shape of the movement member (7). The movement of the covering member (6) is thus facilitated.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises nozzles (5) of trapezoid shape, and a movement member (7) having a wall of decreasing slope, on which water coming out of the nozzle (5) hits. The nozzles (5) and the movement member (7) have a trapezoid shape and they are arranged so that their wider surfaces face each other. By this, the water sprayed through a nozzle (5) advances forwards and upwards, and enables the movement member (7) to move by hitting it. (Figure 6)
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a nozzle channel (8) provided on the covering member (6) enabling the nozzles (5) to move within. The nozzle channel (8) forms a protruding structure through which the nozzles (5) are able to pass. By this, the covering member (6) is movable on the spray arm (4).
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a plurality of elastic flaps (9) provided on the nozzle channel (8), utilized to cover the nozzles (5) over which the covering member (6) comes, and fixed on the nozzle channel (8) from a single edge thereof. The flaps (9) obstruct exiting of water by covering the nozzles (5). Water being unable to exit through covered nozzles (5), is guided to the open nozzles (5) and the flow rate of the water sprayed through the open nozzles (5) increases.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a locking member (10) provided on the movement member (7), enabling the movement member (7) to be fixed on the covering member (6). The user can fix the covering member (6) on the spray arm (4) by means of the locking member (10). The covering member (6) becomes unable to rotate on the spray arm (4) obstructing spraying of water through the nozzles (5) over which the covering member (6) is positioned. By this, regional washing is enabled and water with high flow rate is sprayed only through the nozzles (5) open from above. The washing area of the spray arm (4) is reduced.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a plurality of balls (11) provided on the covering member (6), facilitating the covering member (6) to move over the spray arm (4). The covering member (6) and the spray arm (4) have point contact by means of the balls (11). By this, collection of dirt is prevented which may occur between the covering member (6) and the spray arm (4). The movement of the covering member (6) on the spray arm (4) is facilitated.
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a ball channel (12) provided on the covering member (6), preventing the balls (11) from being dispersed during rotation about themselves. The balls (11) are prevented from being dispersed on the covering member (6) by means of the ball channel (12). (Figure 4, Figure 5)
  • In an embodiment of the invention, the dishwasher (1) comprises a spray arm (4) composed of two nested circles. A smaller-sized spray arm (4) is provided inside the circular spray arm (4). By this, the number of nozzles (5) are increased. (Figure 2)
  • A dishwasher (1) with improved washing efficiency is realized with the present invention. The dishwasher (1) comprises a spray arm (4) with an enlarged washing area. A plurality of nozzles (5) are provided on the spray arm (4). A covering member (6) is used for increasing the flow rate of water sprayed through the nozzles (5). By covering some of the nozzles (5), flow rate of water sprayed through the rest of the nozzles (5) is thus increased. Homogeneous washing is provided by the covering member (6) being able to rotate on the spray arm (4). The covering member (6) can be fixed on the spray arm (4) according to the preference of the user. By this, regional washing at high flow rate is enabled. Washing with high flow rate is provided without the necessity of using a valve and increasing the amount of water used.

Claims (10)

  1. A dishwasher (1) comprising a body (2), a washing tub (3) provided on the body (2), in which washing is performed, a spray arm (4) of circular structure, enabling spraying of water in the washing tub (3), and a plurality of nozzles (5) arranged on the spray arm (4), enabling guiding of water, characterized by a covering member (6) covering some of the nozzles (5), movable on the spray arm (4) due to the compressive force of water coming out of the nozzles (5),.
  2. A dishwasher (1) according to claim 1, characterized by a movement member (7) positioned adjacent to the covering member (6) so as to move due to the force of water coming out of the nozzles (5), enabling movement of the covering member (6) upon its movement.
  3. A dishwasher (1) according to claim 1 or 2, characterized by a movement member (7) of a trapezoid shape, enabling translocation of the covering member (6) by rotating on the circular spray arm (4).
  4. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the nozzle (5) of trapezoid shape, and by the movement member (7) having a wall of decreasing slope, on which water coming out of the nozzle (5) hits.
  5. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by a nozzle channel (8) provided on the covering member (6) enabling the nozzles (5) to move within.
  6. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by a plurality of elastic flaps (9) provided on the nozzle channel (8), utilized to cover the nozzles (5) over which the covering member (6) comes, and fixed on the nozzle channel (8) from a single edge thereof.
  7. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by a locking member (10) provided on the movement member (7), enabling the movement member (7) to be fixed on the covering member (6).
  8. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by a plurality of balls (11) provided on the covering member (6), facilitating the covering member (6) to move over the spray arm (4).
  9. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by a ball channel (12) provided on the covering member (6), preventing the balls (11) from being dispersed during rotation about itself.
  10. A dishwasher (1) according to any one of the preceding claims, characterized by the spray arm (4) composed of two nested circles.
