Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a harness connector and a harness for supporting a user in a suspended position.
  • Harnesses for arborists typically comprise a short rope section which bridges a left and right side of the harness so that a supporting rope can be suitably anchored thereto.
  • the so-called “rope bridge” offers a coupling point for the rope which can move across the harness as the user moves around a tree for example.
  • the rope bridge offers a limited anchorage point such that it is difficult for a user to transfer between trees or other transfer between different supporting ropes.
  • Two examples of such connectors, rope bridges and harnesses are known from US 8333262 B1 and from the brochure " Rope Bridge for treeMOTION Manufacturer's Information and User Instructions" published in 2014 on “www.teufelberger.com ".
  • the present invention seeks to improve harnesses by providing harness connectors which increase versatility for arborists and the like when operating in a suspended state at elevated positions.
  • a harness connector comprising a closed loop first frame defining a first aperture,at least two closed loop second frames rigidly coupled to the first frame and disposed on opposing sides of the first frame on an outer periphery thereof, each closed loop second frame defining a second aperture, and a bridging member which extends across the first aperture between the at least two closed loop second frames, the bridging member includes a third aperture nested within the first aperture, wherein the at least two second apertures and third aperture are linearly aligned, wherein the bridging member separates the first aperture into a proximal aperture which extends adjacent a proximal end of the connector and a distal aperture which extends adjacent a distal end of the connector, and wherein the connector further comprises a connecting member which extends between a proximal end of the connector and the bridging member, said connecting member separates the proximal aperture into two elongate apertures.
