Definitions

  • the present invention relates to a device for retaining a boot on a gliding board as well as a gliding device comprising a gliding board, such as a cross-country ski or ski touring equipped with said retaining device.
  • a retaining device is sometimes referred to as a "stop", “front stop” or "attachment”.
  • a gliding device is a piece of equipment on which a person stands when using this device for the practice of a gliding sport, while being hooked by at least one of his shoes. on this machine.
  • the ski In the case of classic or alternative cross-country skiing, the ski is cambered and defines, under the boot, an area which, by default, is not in contact with the snow. This area constitutes a "wax room". In this zone, grip wax can be added to increase the grip of the ski on the snow in order to prevent the ski from rolling back, which makes it possible to exert effective thrust with the foot.
  • grip wax By modifying the longitudinal position of a device for retaining the boot on the ski, it is possible to adjust the contact zone between the ski and the snow according to the weight exerted by the skier, favoring sliding or hook. When turning, the skier has to lift one ski to bring it back towards the other ski.
  • the lifted ski is connected to the skier only by the front end of the boot and it is important that the ski is correctly balanced. If the ski leans forward or backward, it can touch the snow, which can slow the skier down or throw him off balance. Adjusting the length of a device for retaining a boot on the ski therefore makes it possible to adjust the balance of the ski in this raised configuration.
  • the document WO-A-2005/113081 describes notches on elastically deformable tabs of a retaining device for a cross-country ski boot, these notches being intended to cooperate with complementary notches provided on a ski.
  • the longitudinal immobilization of the retaining device along the ski depends on the rigidity of the tabs.
  • inadvertent attachment of one or the other of the tabs can separate the retaining device from the ski and lead to an undesired movement, forwards or backwards. To avoid this risk, it is then necessary to increase the stiffness of these tabs, which makes the longitudinal adjustment operation difficult without tools.
  • the document WO-A-2015/140258 offers a locking mechanism with a deformable tab provided with a notch. Locking is obtained by clipping or interference with a sliding plate. With this construction, there is a limited risk of acting on the deformable tongue. In these examples, the lock is exposed to external elements such as packed snow or ice which can accumulate in this area and disturb the locking mechanism and/or the actuation of the deformable tongue. In addition, the user may have doubts about the actuation of the lock after adjustment of the longitudinal position.
  • the document EP1839713 A1 discloses a device for retaining a shoe on a gliding board according to the preamble of claim 1.
  • the object of the invention is to provide a device for retaining a boot on an improved gliding board.
  • One aim is in particular to provide a mechanism for adjusting the longitudinal position of a retaining device on a reliable gliding board.
  • Another object is to provide a mechanism for adjusting the longitudinal position of a retaining device on a gliding board that is easy to use, in particular without tools.
  • Another object is to propose a mechanism for adjusting the longitudinal position of a retaining device on a gliding board for which the user is sure of having a locked longitudinal position in use.
  • the article is characterized in that it comprises a holding means making it possible to hold the longitudinal stop element in a stable active position, independently of the position of the locking means.
  • the locking means when the user actuates the mechanism for holding his boot, the locking means systematically locks the longitudinal stop element.
  • the locking means is implemented. It is then no longer possible to deactivate the longitudinal arresting element, that is to say to move it relative to its active configuration, so that the longitudinal immobilization of the retaining device relative to the gliding device is durable and secure. With this securing, the user is assured that the adjustment of the longitudinal position of the retaining device of his shoe will remain unchanged as long as his shoe is in engagement with the binding. Furthermore, this construction makes it possible to design a longitudinal immobilization mechanism requiring little handling effort and therefore operable without tools.
  • the invention also relates to a gliding device comprising a gliding board and a retaining device.
  • the gliding device comprises an interface arranged between the gliding board and the retaining device, the interface bearing the complementary indexings.

Description

Un tel dispositif de retenue est parfois dénommé « butée », « butée avant » ou « fixation ».The present invention relates to a device for retaining a boot on a gliding board as well as a gliding device comprising a gliding board, such as a cross-country ski or ski touring equipped with said retaining device. Such a retaining device is sometimes referred to as a "stop", "front stop" or "attachment".

Within the meaning of the present invention, a gliding device is a piece of equipment on which a person stands when using this device for the practice of a gliding sport, while being hooked by at least one of his shoes. on this machine.

In the field of sliding sports, more particularly in the field of cross-country skiing, it is advantageous to be able to adjust the longitudinal position of the skier's boot along the ski.

In the case of classic or alternative cross-country skiing, the ski is cambered and defines, under the boot, an area which, by default, is not in contact with the snow. This area constitutes a "wax room". In this zone, grip wax can be added to increase the grip of the ski on the snow in order to prevent the ski from rolling back, which makes it possible to exert effective thrust with the foot. By modifying the longitudinal position of a device for retaining the boot on the ski, it is possible to adjust the contact zone between the ski and the snow according to the weight exerted by the skier, favoring sliding or hook. When turning, the skier has to lift one ski to bring it back towards the other ski. In this phase, the lifted ski is connected to the skier only by the front end of the boot and it is important that the ski is correctly balanced. If the ski leans forward or backward, it can touch the snow, which can slow the skier down or throw him off balance. Adjusting the length of a device for retaining a boot on the ski therefore makes it possible to adjust the balance of the ski in this raised configuration.

In the case of a skating ski, there is a similar problem of balance when the ski is lifted to be brought towards the other ski in the so-called aerial phases. In addition, when the snow is sticky, the skier may want a slight rearward imbalance of his skis in order to lift the front tip by default and thus limit the risks of planting this tip in the snow when progressing on the piste. These possibilities of adjustment for a skating ski are also obtained thanks to an adjustment of the longitudinal position of the device for retaining a boot on the ski.

Adjusting the longitudinal position of a binding on a cross-country ski has been described in several patent applications. This function has also been integrated into certain bindings on the market.

For example, the document WO-A-2005/113081 describes notches on elastically deformable tabs of a retaining device for a cross-country ski boot, these notches being intended to cooperate with complementary notches provided on a ski. The longitudinal immobilization of the retaining device along the ski depends on the rigidity of the tabs. In addition, inadvertent attachment of one or the other of the tabs can separate the retaining device from the ski and lead to an undesired movement, forwards or backwards. To avoid this risk, it is then necessary to increase the stiffness of these tabs, which makes the longitudinal adjustment operation difficult without tools.

The document WO-A-2015/140258 offers a locking mechanism with a deformable tab provided with a notch. The document EP1839713 A1 discloses a device for retaining a shoe on a gliding board according to the preamble of claim 1.

The object of the invention is to provide a device for retaining a boot on an improved gliding board.

One aim is in particular to provide a mechanism for adjusting the longitudinal position of a retaining device on a reliable gliding board.

Another object is to provide a mechanism for adjusting the longitudinal position of a retaining device on a gliding board that is easy to use, in particular without tools.

Another object is to propose a mechanism for adjusting the longitudinal position of a retaining device on a gliding board for which the user is sure of having a locked longitudinal position in use.

The invention proposes a device for retaining a boot on a gliding board, the retention device comprising:
  • a mechanism for holding in position an attachment element belonging to the shoe, the holding mechanism comprising a movable jaw between an engagement position for which the movable jaw is capable of cooperating with the attachment element so to allow the attachment of the attachment element to the retaining device while allowing rotation of the shoe about an axis transverse to the retaining device, and a release position for which the movable jaw is in a configuration allowing the separation of the attachment element with the retaining device, and an actuating member controlling a movement of the movable jaw to make it switch from an engagement position to a release position,
  • a movable longitudinal stop element between an active position for which the longitudinal stop element is capable of cooperating with complementary indexings integral with the gliding board to immobilize the retaining device along the gliding board in the one of several predetermined positions, and an inactive position for which the longitudinal stop element does not cooperate with the complementary indexings,
  • a locking means movable between a locking position for which the locking means is capable of cooperating with the stop element so as to maintain it in its active configuration and an unlocking position for which the movable locking means is in a configuration allowing the tilting of the stop element from its active position to its inactive position.
  • the locking means being kinematically linked to the movable jaw so that, when the locking means is in its locking position, the movable jaw is systematically in its engagement position.

The article is characterized in that it comprises a holding means making it possible to hold the longitudinal stop element in a stable active position, independently of the position of the locking means.

By virtue of the invention, when the user actuates the mechanism for holding his boot, the locking means systematically locks the longitudinal stop element. The locking means is implemented.

According to advantageous but not mandatory aspects of the invention, such a restraint device may incorporate one or more of the following characteristics, taken in any technically permissible combination:
  • the locking means is part of the actuating member,
  • the locking means is directly integral with the movable jaw or its body,
  • the locking means completely covers the longitudinal stop element when the locking means is in its locking position,
  • the locking means comprises an interference element sized and arranged so that it is capable of interacting with the stop element to cause it to swing from its inactive position to its active position when the locking means swings from its position unlocking to its locked position,

  • the retaining device comprises at least one guide edge capable of cooperating with a groove provided on the sole of the shoe so as to limit the transverse displacement of the sole when the sole approaches the gliding board,

The invention also relates to a gliding device comprising a gliding board and a retaining device.

In the rest of the description, use will be made of terms such as "horizontal", "vertical", "transverse", "upper", "lower", "lateral", "top", "bottom", "right" , "left", "front", "back", "front", "back". These terms should be interpreted relatively in relation to the normal position that the gliding device occupies when the user uses it on a substantially flat track.

We will also use a marker whose front/rear direction corresponds to the X axis, the transverse or right/left direction corresponds to the Y axis and the vertical or up/down direction corresponds to the Z axis.

The invention relates to a gliding assembly 4 comprising a gliding board 3 extending along a longitudinal axis X3, an interface 2 fixed to the upper face 32 of the ski 3 opposite its gliding surface 31 and a retaining device 1 d a boot 5, or binding, mounted on the interface with the possibility of sliding relative to the ski 3, along its longitudinal axis X.

The interface 2 is immobilized on the ski 3 by any appropriate means. This can be by gluing or by screws. The interface 2 has an upper face 20 and comprises a central part 21 and two lateral wings 22 which extend on either side of the central part 21. In the rear part of the interface, each wing comprises a lug 221 protruding from the upper face 20. The lug 221 is provided on a deformable beam 222 dimensioned so that the lug can retract below the level of the upper face 20 when a vertical force Z is exerted on the ergot. The outer edge of each side wing 22 forms a side rail extending in a direction parallel to the longitudinal axis X2 of the interface. The interface 2 is fixed on the ski so that the longitudinal axis X3 of the ski and the longitudinal axis X2 of the interface are parallel. In its central part 21, the interface 2 comprises guide grooves 211 and a housing 212 intended to receive an insert 23, removably mounted on the interface. The insert 23 comprises longitudinal guide grooves 231 as well as a series of notches 232 delimiting an edge of a central longitudinal groove 233. As we will see later, the series of notches 232 form complementary indexings intended to cooperate with notches 1631 of a longitudinal stop element 16 so as to be able to immobilize the retaining device along the gliding board, in one of several predetermined positions. When the insert is assembled on the central part of the base, each notch 232 is oriented in a direction Y transverse to the base and opens into the central groove 233 and all the notches are aligned in a longitudinal direction X parallel to the longitudinal axis X2 of the interface. In use, the notches 232 are heavily stressed because they are the ones that hold the retaining device in position, along the longitudinal direction X parallel to the longitudinal axis X2 of the interface. In addition, the dimensioning of these notches must be able to be housed in a small space, preferably in the thickness of the interface. These design constraints require the use of a suitable material to withstand the stresses. The proposed construction consisting in adding a removable insert has several advantages. This allows, on the one hand, to change the part if the cogging is damaged and, on the other hand, the use of more rigid material locally, where necessary, without penalizing the weight of the interface and therefore of the ski. For example, the insert may be metallic while the rest of the interface is made of plastic. The insert can be removably mounted on the interface by any appropriate means. This can be by clipping or using a screw. This solution can be transposed to any system for adjusting the longitudinal position of a retaining device relative to a ski using indexing means and is therefore not limited to the embodiment illustrated here. Alternatively, the series of notches 232 is made directly in the central part 21 and not on an added insert.

The retaining device 1 comprises a base 11, a mechanism 17 for holding in position an attachment element 51 belonging to the boot 5, a longitudinal stop element 16, a locking means 18 of the longitudinal stop and a return means 19 making it possible to bring the heel of the boot closer to the ski.

The base 11 is designed to be assembled on the interface 2. It extends along a longitudinal axis X1 substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis X2 of the interface when the base is mounted on the interface. The base comprises a lower face 111 intended to come against the upper face 20 of the interface 2. The lower face 111 is delimited laterally by two flanges each forming an internal lateral groove 112 oriented in a longitudinal direction parallel to the longitudinal axis X1 of the base. Each internal lateral groove 112 is intended to cooperate respectively with a rail formed by one of the lateral flanges 22 so as to guide the base in translation relative to the interface, in a longitudinal direction X. This cooperation also allows the maintenance of the lower face of the base against the upper face of the interface by preventing their separation in a direction Z, normal to the upper face of the interface. This cooperation thus defines a slide-type connection between the base and the interface ensuring the sliding of the retaining device with respect to the ski. To improve guidance in translation, the base also comprises guide ribs 113 projecting from the lower face 111. Each guide rib is designed to cooperate with a complementary guide groove 211 formed on the upper face 20 of the interface. 2. In his game rear, the lower face 111 comprises, on each side, a row of orifices 114 aligned in a direction X parallel to the longitudinal axis X1 of the base. Each orifice 114 is designed to receive a pin 221 of the interface 2 for a particular position of the base. Thus, when a lug 221 cooperates with an orifice 114 of a row, the base 111 is positioned at a determined indexed position. This cooperation ensures the indexing of the position of the base relative to the interface. However, the dimensioning of the lugs and orifices is not sufficient to enable the longitudinal position of the base to be maintained with respect to the interface. We will see later that this function is provided by another device.

In its upper rear part, the base 11 comprises at least one guide edge 115 capable of cooperating with at least one groove 53 provided on the sole 52 of the shoe 5 so as to limit the transverse displacement of the shoe when the sole closer to the gliding board 3.

In the illustrated embodiment of the invention, the element attachment 51 is a transverse shaft integrated in a recess in the front of the sole 52 of the shoe 5. In practice, the shoe 5 can conform to the technical teaching of the demands EP-A-0 913 102 and or EP-A-0 913 103 which can be referred to for more details. To ensure the attachment of the shoe to the retaining device, the holding mechanism 17 comprises a fixed jaw 12, a movable jaw 13, an actuating member 14 and rods 15. The operation will not be described in detail because it is similar to that of the binding described in the document FR-A-2638974 .

The movable jaw 13 can move between an engagement position, shown in picture 3 , for which the movable jaw is capable of cooperating with the attachment element 51 so as to allow the fastening of the attachment element with the retaining device while allowing the boot to rotate about a transverse axis Y1 to the retaining device, and a release position for which the movable jaw is in a configuration, shown in figure 1 , 2 And 6 , allowing the separation of the attachment element with the retaining device.

Dans cet exemple, la mâchoire mobile 13 est positionnée devant la mâchoire fixe 12 sur l'embase 11.In this example, when the movable jaw 13 moves from its release position to its engagement position, the movable jaw 13 approaches the fixed jaw 12 so as to substantially form, with the fixed jaw, a cylinder at the interior that can accommodate the attachment element 51 so that the latter can freely pivot around the axis Y1 of the cylinder formed. Thus, the fixed jaw 12 is arranged so that the hooking element 51 is positioned between the movable jaw 13 and the fixed jaw 12 when the boot 5 is engaged with the retaining device 1. Conversely, when there mobile jaw 13 moves from its engagement position to its release position, the mobile jaw 13 moves away from the fixed jaw 12 so as to generate an opening between the two jaws through which the hooking element can pass 51. In this example, the movable jaw 13 is positioned in front of the fixed jaw 12 on the base 11.

To tilt the movable jaw from its engagement position to its release position, or vice versa, the holding mechanism 17 comprises a control device actuated by an actuating member 14 that can be manipulated by the user. In the example shown, the control device is similar to that described in the document FR-A-2638974 . It comprises an actuating member 14 in the form of a cover pivotally mounted on the body of the movable jaw 13 about a transverse axis Y14. Furthermore, each side edge of the cover 14 is connected to a front part of the base 11 by a link 15. A first end of the link is rotatably mounted on the front part of the base around a transverse axis Y15a. A second end of the connecting rod is rotatably mounted on a lateral edge of the actuator member around a transverse axis Y15b parallel to the pivot axis Y14 of the actuator member.

By lowering the actuating member 14, the user causes the moving jaw 13 to move towards its engagement position. Conversely, by lifting it, the actuating member controls the movement of the movable jaw to make it switch from the engagement position to the release position. In this example, when it is completely lowered, the actuating member 14 is designed to bear against an upper front face 116 of the base 11. In this configuration, the mobile jaw is in its engagement position .

In this example, the control device is designed to ensure locking of the mobile jaw in the engagement position. Thus, when the actuating member is fully raised, the movable jaw is in its release position. By lowering the actuating member by a determined angle, the movable jaw is brought to its engagement position. Then, by continuing the rotation of the actuating member until it bears against an upper front face 116 of the base 11, the movable jaw is locked in its engagement position and can no longer move longitudinally, in direction X, without action on the actuating member.

The actuating member 14 defines a cover incorporating a lower recess 141 provided to form with the upper front face 116 of the base 11 and a part of the body of the movable jaw 13, a substantially closed volume when the actuation 14 rests on the upper front face 116 of the base 11. Thus, in this configuration, the actuation member 14 makes it possible to protect the elements housed in this cavity from external bad weather such as snow or ice. The connecting rods 15 are arranged to come to lodge in this cavity when the actuating member 14 is lowered, that is to say, when the retaining device is engaged.

Ce type de moyen de rappel est illustré dans le document FR-A-2638974 .According to one embodiment of the invention, the return means 19 making it possible to bring the heel of the boot closer to the ski is an elastic buffer carried by the body of the mobile jaw 13. The elastic buffer 19 is designed to come into contact against a front face of the sole when the user raises his heel. This type of recall means is illustrated in the document FR-A-2638974 .

According to the invention, the retaining device comprises a longitudinal stop element 16 movable between an active position, shown in figure 2 , 6 And 8 , for which the longitudinal stop element is capable of cooperating with complementary indexings 232 integral with the gliding board in order to immobilize the retaining device along the gliding board in one of several predetermined positions, and an inactive position, shown in figure 1 And 7 , for which the longitudinal stop element does not cooperate with the complementary indexings. In this example, the longitudinal stop element 16 is a pusher inserted in a through housing 117 of the front part of the base 11 so that an upper part of the stop element protrudes from the upper face 116 of the base 11 and that a lower part of the stop element protrudes from the lower face 111 of the base 11. Furthermore, the housing is also designed to allow the sliding of the pusher 16 in one direction Y16 transverse to the base between its active and inactive positions. Thus, the longitudinal stop element is movable in a direction transverse to the retaining device.

Chaque extension transversale 161, 162 présente une surface inférieure 1612, 1622 destinée à se positionner contre la face supérieure 116 de l'interface 11.In its upper part, the stop element 16 comprises, on one side, a first transverse extension 161 delimited laterally by a first actuation surface 1611 inclined with respect to a vertical plane, advantageously, by an angle greater than 25° and less than 50°. On the opposite side, the stop element comprises a second transverse extension 162 delimited laterally by a second actuation surface 1621 inclined relative to a vertical plane, advantageously by an angle greater than 25° and less than 50°. These actuating surfaces are arranged so that when the user presses on the first actuating surface 1611, he causes the translation of the stop element 16 in a transverse direction Y16 to make it switch from its inactive position to its active position. Conversely, when the user presses on the second actuating surface 1621, he causes the translation of the stop element 16 in a transverse direction Y16, in the other direction, to make it switch from its position active to its inactive position. Each transverse extension 161, 162 has a lower surface 1612, 1622 intended to be positioned against the upper face 116 of the interface 11.

For certain transverse positions of the stop element 16, a positioning element 1613, 1623 is capable of cooperating with a complementary positioning element 118 provided on the upper surface 116 of the interface 11 so as to maintain the stop element 16 in this stable position. Thus, when the stop element 16 in its inactive position, the positioning element 1613 of the first transverse extension 161 cooperates with a first complementary positioning element 118 of the base 11. Moreover, when the element of stop 16 in its active position, the positioning element 1623 of the second transverse extension 162 cooperates with a second complementary positioning element 118 of the base 11. The longitudinal stop element comprises a positioning element 1613, 1623 capable of cooperating with a complementary positioning element 118 of the retaining device so as to maintain the longitudinal stop element 16 in a stable position among the active or inactive positions. In this example, a positioning element 1613, 1623 is a bump protruding from the lower surface 1612, 1622 of a transverse extension 161, 162. In this case, a complementary positioning element 118 is a depression formed on the upper surface 116 of interface 11.

In its upper part, the stop element 16 comprises a lower extension 163 projecting from the lower face 111 of the base 11 when the stop element is assembled on the base. This lower extension 163 comprises two notches 1631 oriented in a direction Y, transverse to the base when the stop element is assembled on the base. The notches 1631 are dimensioned and arranged so that they can cooperate with the complementary indexings 232 of the base when the stop element is in its active position and so that they no longer cooperate with the complementary indexings 232 of the base when the stop element is in its inactive position. In the latter case, the lower extension 163 is positioned in the central longitudinal groove 233. Thus, when it is in its inactive position, the stop element 16 can move along the interface 11, in the central longitudinal groove 233. On the other hand, when it is in its active position, the stop element 16 is integral with the interface 11 in the longitudinal direction X because the notches 1631 are engaged with the complementary indexings 232 of the base. The stop element 16 therefore allows the immobilization of the retaining device along the gliding board in one of several predetermined positions. The predetermined positions are defined by the position of the notches/complementary indexings 232. To be able to tilt the stop element 16 from its inactive position to its active position, the retaining device 1 must be positioned with respect to the interface 2 in one of several predetermined longitudinal positions. For each of these predetermined longitudinal positions, a lug 221 of the interface 2 will cooperate with an orifice 114 of the base 11. These longitudinal positions are thus indexed positions, relatively stable, each allowing the tilting of the stop element 16 from its inactive position to its active position. In addition, to facilitate adjustment of the longitudinal position of the retaining device, the base may comprise one or more marks 119 intended to cooperate respectively with one or more graduations 201 made on the upper surface 20 of the interface, as shown see on the figures 1 to 5 . Thus, the user has a visual cue to determine the exact longitudinal position of the base relative to the interface. Other embodiments of this visual indicator can be envisaged.

In this example, the stop element 16 is sized and positioned so that it is housed in the cavity delimited by the actuating member 14 and the upper face 116 of the base, when the stop is in the active position. In this configuration, the actuating member 14 entirely covers the stopper 16 which makes it possible to protect it from bad weather when the user is skiing.

According to the invention, the retaining device also comprises a locking means 18 movable between a locking position, shown in figure 8 , for which the locking means is adapted to cooperate with the stop element 16 so as to maintain it in its active configuration and an unlocked position, shown in figure 7 , for which the movable locking means is in a configuration allowing the tilting of the stop element from its active position to its inactive position. The locking means 18 comprises an interference element 142 which is adapted to interfere with a part of the stop element 16 when it moves from its active position to its inactive position. The travel of the stop element to switch from an active position to an inactive position is then limited so that the stop element always allows the attachment between the retaining device and the interface in its longitudinal direction X When the locking means swings into the unlocked position, the interference element 142 retracts, then releasing the travel of the stop element which can therefore swing into the inactive position.

According to the illustrated embodiment of the invention, the locking means 18 is a part 142 of the actuator 14. The locking position corresponds to the position of the actuator when it is lowered while the unlocking position corresponds to the position of the actuating member when it is raised. The interference element 142 is produced by an internal rib protruding from the surface defining the lower recess 141 of the actuating member 14. When the actuating means is in its locking position and the element stopper is in its active position, as shown in figure 8 , the interference element 142 is positioned opposite the first actuating surface 1611 of the stop element, thus preventing the movement of the stop element towards its inactive position.

According to one embodiment, the locking means 18 comprises an interference element 142 sized and arranged so that it is capable of interacting with the stop element to make it switch from its inactive position to its active position when the locking means tilts from its unlocking position to its locking position. The interaction between the interference element 142 and the stop element 16 can be achieved by direct contact. In this example, the internal rib 142 has a surface complementary to the first actuation surface 1611 capable of coming into contact with a portion of the first actuation surface 1611, when the actuation member 14 is lowered. , when the stop element 16 is in the inactive position. Thus, when the user lowers the actuating member, the internal rib comes into contact with the first actuating surface of the stop element. Then, by continuing the rotation of the actuating member to bring the mobile jaw into its engagement position, due to the complementarity of the inclined surfaces, the interference element 142 pushes the stop element for the switch from its inactive position to its active position. Thanks to this construction, the tilting of the mobile jaw towards its engagement position simultaneously causes the locking of the stop element and therefore the longitudinal immobilization of the retaining device with respect to the ski. Automatic locking is therefore obtained by actuating the holding mechanism 17 to secure the boot to the retaining device. Thus, with a single manipulation, the user can both secure his shoe with the binding and lock the adjustment of the longitudinal position of the retention device.

The invention relates to the fact that the locking means 18 is kinematically linked to the mobile jaw 13 so that, when the locking means is in its locking position, the mobile jaw is systematically in its engagement position. Within the meaning of the invention, a part is kinematically linked to the movable jaw 13 when there is a relationship between the position of the part and the position of the movable jaw. Thus, for a determined position of the part, this connection induces a determined position of the jaw. The part can be directly fixed on the movable jaw or its body. Consequently, a translational movement of the mobile jaw causes the same translation of the associated part. Alternatively, the part can be mounted movably relative to the movable jaw or its body. In this case, a translational movement of the movable jaw causes a movement of the associated part. For example, it may be a rotation of the part relative to the body of the movable jaw, thanks to the connecting rods, as in the illustrated embodiment of the invention.

In this example, the locking means 18 is a part 142 of the actuating member 14 of the holding mechanism 17 and therefore, by construction, directly linked to the kinematics of the mobile jaw. Alternatively, the locking means may be another part of the holding mechanism 17. This can be, for example, an element carried by the body of the movable jaw. Thanks to the invention, when the boot is in engagement with the retaining device, the user is assured that the retaining device is locked longitudinally on the ski.

According to one embodiment of the invention, the retaining device is fixed directly to the gliding board, without a separate interface piece. In this case, the upper face of the ski incorporates the elements allowing the assembly of the retaining device on the ski.

It is possible to envisage other embodiments of the invention of the mechanism for maintaining in position an attachment element belonging to the shoe. For example, the movable jaw can be positioned rearward on the retainer relative to the fixed jaw. The holding mechanism may not have a fixed jaw. For example, the movable jaw can be produced by two transversely movable spikes, arranged symmetrically with respect to the longitudinal median plane of the ski, each spike being capable of cooperating with a housing provided on a lateral edge of the front of the sole of the boot. . Such a construction is illustrated, for example, in the document EP-A-0199098 . Similarly, it is possible to envisage other actuating member solutions. It can be a rotary button or a push button.

Furthermore, other longitudinal stop element constructions can also be envisaged. For example, the stop element can cooperate with complementary indexings in a direction Z, normal to the upper surface of the interface. The stop element can be coupled with an elastic means so as to maintain it in a stable position, for example, its active position.

As we have seen previously, the retaining device comprises a holding means making it possible to hold the longitudinal stop element in a stable active position, independently of the position of the locking means. This holding means can be an elastic means as has just been mentioned. Alternatively, as shown in figure 8 , the holding means comprises a positioning element (1623) of the longitudinal stop element and a complementary positioning element (118) of the retaining device, capable of cooperating together. More generally, the holding means comprises a positioning element of the longitudinal stop element and a complementary positioning element secured to the machine, capable of cooperating together. According to another embodiment of the invention not shown, the complementary positioning element is integral with the complementary indexings (232) cooperating with the longitudinal stop element. Other means of maintaining the longitudinal stop element in a stable active position can be envisaged.

As clearly appears in the embodiment of the invention described, the device is designed so that the longitudinal stop element is capable of maintaining a stable active position when the movable jaw is in its release position.

The invention is not limited to these embodiments. It is possible to combine these embodiments.

The invention is not limited to the embodiments previously described but extends to all the embodiments covered by the appended claims.
