Definitions

  • the invention refers to a collapsible container, in particular a modular-segment collapsible container for freight of goods in sea, road and railroad transport and methods of folding and unfolding the container.
  • the Dutch patent no. NL2006748C reveals a collapsible transport container in which side walls are folded towards the interior of the container, and the front and rear walls are connected tiltably with the bottom of the container and are connected with fastening elements being sort of tension members with the container's roof, so with use of adequate equipment, e.g. forklift or crane, the roof of the container can be lowered, and the container is folded as a result.
  • the container's height is a few times smaller compared to the height of standard container of the same dimensions and a few such folded containers can be stacked on top of one another.
  • document US 2014/042157 A1 relates to a freight container with side walls foldable horizontally which can be also folded by lowering the roof by means of a specialised fork-lift or crane.
  • these collapsible containers require heavy equipment for folding/unfolding and they cannot be used, after being folded, for transporting any goods.
  • the large container comprises a load-receiving rectangular support plate, a frame and a cover plate wherein the frame has two oppositely arranged, parallel to each other aligned walls and two end walls.
  • the frame is coupled on the support plate and on the cover plate by means of fastening means.
  • the walls have side walls that contain plastic-like materials, carbon fiber and/or glass fiber reinforced plastics.
  • a collapsible container all the faces of which are rigid and flat.
  • the container has a mechanism of hinges and guides that can be used to collapse the lateral faces onto the base plate, in an opposing manner, by pivoting one end and sliding the other towards the interior of the container, for which the vertical movement of the top plate is required.
  • a system of this container allows the collapsing/expanding movement to be performed without substantially altering certain characteristics of conventional ISO containers.
  • the container has doors that are taller than the width of the container.
  • the containers can be linked together to assist in placing several of the containers on the truck, trailer, or rail car, where they can remain linked for transportation.
  • the containers can be brought to a customer's premise on the truck, trailer, or rail car.
  • the containers are then loaded. Afterwards, the containers can be taken to holding areas, other trucks, ships, aircraft, or directly to the ultimate destination.
  • Transactional information regarding the freight and destination is stored in a computer, allowing a central system to track the freight and generate appropriate business and customer documentation.
