Description

The invention relates to a roller shutter box with a connecting element for connecting the roller shutter box to a frame element such as a window frame, door frame or the like, the connecting element having an outer holding strip, an inner holding strip and at least one sealing element, a positive connection with the frame element at least via the outer holding strip and the inner holding strip is produced, at least one sealing element is designed as an elastomeric sealing element, and is arranged between the outer holding strip and the inner holding strip.

Roller shutter boxes of this type are generally used to hold one or more roller shutters, which are used, for example, to darken, protect or isolate windows, doors, glazing or similar installations. For this reason, such roller shutter boxes are usually connected to the corresponding window frames, door frames, etc. at the top during the course of installation.

From the DE 102 12 294 A1 an assembly set for a roller shutter box is known, a sealing profile being arranged between the floor inspection part and the frame level. However, this is disadvantageous since the seal, which is generally not very attractive, is visible and the seal is exposed to possible damage due to the direct access. In addition, care must be taken when retrofitting, painting and the like that the seal is not damaged.

In other, already known, embodiments for roller shutter boxes, connecting elements are provided, a sealing tape being glued in the interior of the connection, which seals the connection between the roller shutter box and window frame. However, this is often disadvantageous since standard sealing tapes are often not thick enough to achieve an adequate seal. Changes in the size of the adjacent parts due to temperature fluctuations can also lead to a widening of the space between the window frame and the connecting element, which under certain circumstances cannot be fully compensated for by the sealing tape. In addition, the constant exposure to temperature can cause the adhesive to loosen and the tape to slip, which can lead to gaps in the seal. It can also easily pass through incorrect or inaccurate attachment of the sealing tape to the window frame or roller shutter box lead to such gaps.

In the EP 3 216 970 A1 describes a connection arrangement for connecting a roller shutter box to a window or door frame, wherein a sealing lip is arranged between the outer and inner retaining strip. This protects the sealing element from damage and corrosion. The lip is usually mounted on the box and, when assembled, presses on the frame. It is disadvantageous, however, that the size of the sealing lip must be precisely matched to the size of the space between the roller shutter box and the window or door frame, since on the one hand there is little space for the sealing lip, but in an assembled state of the box and frame with enough force must press the frame. There are often leaks in the mostly long sealing lips. Due to the temperature differences between the window sides, these otherwise insignificant, very small leaks can lead to condensation of water from the passing air, which favors microbial infestation and mold growth.

The object of the present invention is thus to avoid the disadvantages described and to provide a roller shutter box which reduces the risk of microbial infection.

This is achieved according to the invention in that the elastomeric sealing element is designed as a hollow profile.

The stated goal is achieved in particular by a combination of these features. The sealing element is well protected from damage and direct mechanical environmental influences due to the arrangement between the outer and inner retaining strip, which ensures a long service life. Since it is not visible when the roller shutter box is connected to the window frame, it cannot be visually disturbing either, and painting, painting or other processing of the window frame or roller shutter box is possible without risk of damage to the sealing element in the connected state. It is advantageous to design at least one sealing element as an elastomeric sealing element, since elastomeric materials are easy to form, elastic and inexpensive. In addition, they can easily nestle against adjacent surfaces and therefore have good sealing properties. The compensation of larger thermal expansions can also be achieved without any problems. Although it may make sense to provide several sealing elements made of different materials, elastomeric materials are particularly suitable due to the material properties. Of course, it may also be advantageous to have several sealing elements, if necessary to be provided in different places. “Elastomeric” is understood to mean those materials which are dimensionally stable but are elastically deformable by tensile or compressive loading and return to their original shape when the load ceases to exist. This includes vulcanizates, natural rubber or silicone rubber, for example ethylene-propylene-diene rubber (EPDM). It can be provided, in addition to the positive connection or the positive connections between the connecting element and the frame element, to provide non-positive connections, such as screw connections.

Since roller shutter boxes generally extend over the entire width of the window, they have an elongated, essentially prismatic shape. In order to achieve a seal that is as complete as possible, it is advantageous if at least one sealing element extends over the entire length of the — generally narrow and elongated — connection between roller shutter box and window frame. It may even be advantageous if the sealing element extends beyond the length of the connection, in order to also prevent air flow on the sides of the sealing element. Thickened end elements can also be arranged on the end pieces of the sealing element, for example, in order to ensure an optimal seal.

The connecting element can be attached to the cover of the roller shutter box as an independent element of the roller shutter box. This cover generally consists of two essentially mirror-like side elements, as well as side, top and bottom walls, at least one passage opening being provided in the area of the bottom walls through which the roller shutter can be unwound from the roller shutter box. However, it is advantageous if the connecting element is part of the casing. It is particularly advantageous if the connecting element is made in one piece with at least part of the casing. This can prevent any gaps in the seal between the connecting element and the cover of the roller shutter box. This also makes the structure more compact and easier.

It is favorable if the connecting element has a holding device in which the sealing element is held in a form-fitting manner. This means that gluing is no longer necessary and any incorrect gluing can be prevented. Embodiments are particularly preferred in which the holding device is made in one piece with at least a substantial part of the remaining connecting element. This also prevents incorrect attachment of the holding device to the connecting element.

Since the sealing element is designed as a hollow profile, there is a particularly elastic shape that can easily adapt to different shapes.

It also offers a good seal in both directions, while lip seals in one direction, for example, usually have a reduced seal. This prevents air flow from one side to the other and water condensation. This greatly reduces the risk of microbial infestation.

In order to increase the stability of the connecting element, it can be advantageous to provide a metallic reinforcing element in the connecting element. In particular if this reinforcing element is designed in the form of a profile which is adapted to the shape of a profile chamber, the forces which act between the reinforcing element and the frame element can be distributed well by the reinforcing element.

If inner and outer guide lugs are provided which, in addition to the retaining strips, bear against the frame element in the connected state, the connection between the frame element and the roller shutter box is additionally stabilized. If the guide lugs are made over the entire length of the connection, they additionally form a mechanical barrier to prevent foreign bodies from entering the connection area between the connection element and the frame element. Even if this does not result in a seal, at least larger particles can be prevented from penetrating into the area. Another advantage is guiding the window frame while the connecting element and frame element, or roller shutter box and frame element, are being brought together, since the connecting element is usually first mounted on the remaining roller shutter box before it is connected to the frame element. When brought together, the frame element is guided into the correct position by the guide lugs so that the outer and inner retaining strip can easily connect to the connecting parts provided for this purpose, as well as the provided strips of the frame element.

It is particularly advantageous if at least one outer guide lug is further away from the rest of the connecting element than the inner guide element. This unequal arrangement makes it easier to bring the frame element together with the connecting element. The frame element can be inserted quickly and easily at an acute angle inclined towards the inner guide lug between the outer and inner guide lugs. It may also make sense to make the inner guide lug further away than the outer guide lug, this depends on the exact embodiment of the holding strips and other connecting elements.

Due to the elastic embodiment of the sealing element, this at least partially changes its shape when the described connection between the frame element and the connecting element is established. If this connection has not yet been established, that is to say the seal is not loaded by the frame element, then this is fully deployed, as a result of which at least one extension point of the seal element is as far as possible from the connection element or roller shutter box. This extension point represents the point of the sealing element that is furthest away from the rest of the roller shutter box or connecting element in the unloaded state.

It is particularly advantageous if the sealing element does not extend beyond the guide lugs in the unloaded state, that is to say the guide lugs protrude beyond the sealing element. This can prevent the sealing element from being damaged or twisted before or during installation, since it is protected by the guide lugs. During installation, disadvantageous warping of the sealing element by shear movements of the frame element on the connecting element can be prevented, since the frame element is centered first by the guide lugs before it comes into the vicinity of the sealing element.

In order to achieve an optimal seal, it is advantageous if a connecting surface of the frame element in the connected state with the connecting element is closer to the connecting element than the extension point of the sealing element in the unloaded state. This can ensure that the sealing element in the connected state lies directly on the connecting surface and is at least slightly deformed, as a result of which it achieves a seal.

The present invention is explained in more detail below on the basis of the non-restrictive embodiment variant shown in the figures. Show it:
Fig. 1

Fig. 2
a connecting element in detail in a section;
Fig. 3
a connecting element connected to a frame element in one section.

Fig. 1 and Fig. 2 show an embodiment variant in which the connecting element 1 has an elastomeric sealing element 11 in a non-connected state with a frame element 20. The connecting element 1 delimits a passage opening 2 on one side and is part of a casing of the roller shutter box.

Halteelement 15 entfernt wie möglich, und liegt auf der dritten Ebene E11.Furthermore, the shell has two side plates 3, an upper plate 4, a lower plate 5 and two mirror-like side elements 6, only one side element 6 being shown. The side plates 3, top plate 4, bottom plate 5 and side elements 6 can be at least partially inserted into one another or screwed together to form a shell that is as stable as possible, with the exception of any inspection openings that may be provided. The connecting element 1 has an outer holding strip 12 and an inner holding strip 13, both of which are designed as an elongated outer strip 12a and inner strip 13a with an outer hook 12b or inner hook 13b. They are slightly bent away from each other, so that a frame element 20 (not shown), which has suitably shaped cavities or strips 22, can be easily clipped or pushed into one another. Such a frame element 20 is then also guided by an outer guide lug 14 and an inner guide lug 16 and thus further stabilized, resulting in a firm connection with the frame element 20. The outer guide lug 14 is arranged in a first plane E14, which - in relation to the intended installation position - lies below a second plane E16 on which the inner guide lug 16 is arranged. The frame element 20 can thus be brought together with the connecting element, the frame element 20 of the inner guide nose 16 being slightly inclined. This further facilitates the connection. Since the connecting element is shown in a state not connected to the frame element 20, the sealing element 11 is unloaded and fully deployed. An extension point 11c is as far away from the connecting element or holding element 15 as possible, and lies on the third plane E11.

The sealing element 11 is designed as a hollow profile which has a cavity 11a and a belt 11b, which engages in a holding device 15 and thus fastens the sealing element 11 in the holding device 15. This embodiment is particularly advantageous since a tight connection can be made in a positive manner without adhesive and the sealing element 11 can be replaced at any time. The size of the sealing element 11 and the holding device 15 are dimensioned such that when the connecting element 1 and the frame element 20 are brought together, the sealing element 11 is compressed, but there is still enough space to be able to be compressed even further when the parts are thermally contracted. At the same time, however, the sealing element 11 should still have a tight connection to the frame element 20 even when the parts are thermally expanded. When assembled, the sealing element 11 can simply be inserted or pushed into the holding device 15. Furthermore, the connecting element 1 has an -in Fig. 2 not shown-reinforcing element 17, which is designed as a metallic, curved profile. This profile can extend over the entire length of the connection, but can also be present only in sections in the form of a plurality of profiles arranged in a row.

In Fig. 3 the same connecting element 1 as in Fig. 2 shown, but it is already connected to the frame element 20. The frame element 20 has strips 22 which engage in the outer holding strip 12 and the inner holding strip 13 and thus form a positive connection. The sealing element 11 is pressed against a connecting surface 21 of the frame element 20, whereby a tight connection between the connecting element 1 and the frame element 20 is produced. The outer guide lug 14 and inner guide lug 16 bear directly on the frame element 20. The connecting surface 21 lies on a fourth level E21, which lies above the third level E11, which ensures the tight connection.
