Description

    TECHNICAL FIELD
  • The present invention relates to a packet of smoking articles. In particular, the present invention relates to a packet of smoking articles having a stamp (or state stamp or tax seal) which must be torn at the first opening of the packet.
  • PRIOR ART
  • A packet of smoking articles of a known type comprises: a group of smoking articles (e.g. cigarettes, cigars, electronic cigarettes or heat-not-burn products); a container that contains the group of smoking articles, which comprises a lateral wall, an opening for the extraction of the smoking articles from the container and a bottom opposite to the extraction opening; a lid that can be rotated with respect to the container between an open configuration in which it allows access to the smoking articles through the opening of the container and a closed configuration in which it prevents access to the smoking articles; a stamp that is fixed to the outside of the container. In order to prevent the re-use of stamps in counterfeit packets of smoking articles, it is important that, at the first opening of the packet, the stamp is torn.
In this regard, it is common practice to glue the stamp partly on the lateral wall of the container and partly on the lid so that at the first opening of the lid, the stamp is torn.
For example, patent application WO2006097850A2 and patent application EP0803450A1 describe a packet of cigarettes provided with a stamp which is torn at the first opening of the packet of cigarettes.
  • However, as a result of the recent tobacco directives which impose informative messages on the packet of smoking articles in given positions and of given dimensions, said positioning of the stamp is no longer possible.
  • DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
  • The object of the present invention is to provide a packet of smoking articles which overcomes the aforementioned drawback.
  • The aforesaid object has been achieved by means of a packet of smoking articles according to the appended claims.
  • BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

    PREFERRED EMBODIMENTS OF THE INVENTION
  • With reference to the attached figures, a packet of smoking articles object of the present invention has been denoted, generically, with reference number 1.
  • The term "smoking article" refers to an article relating to the tobacco industry such as a cigarette, a cigar, an electronic cigarette, a cartridge for an electronic cigarette or a heat-not-burn product. Generally, a smoking article is an object having a cylindrical shape with a longitudinal development along a respective development axis.
  • With reference to Figures 1-11, a first embodiment of the packet object of the present invention is described in the following.
  • The packet 1 of smoking articles comprises a group of smoking articles (not illustrated) and a wrapping 18 which wraps the group of smoking articles. The wrapping 18 can be made, for example, with a sheet of heat-sealable material comprising a label or a foil sheet comprising a portion which can be torn at the first opening of the packet 1.
  • The packet 1 comprises, furthermore, a container 2 that contains the group of smoking articles and which comprises: a bottom wall 23 at an end 22 of the container 2; a lateral wall 20 which extends from the bottom wall 23 and which comprises a rear wall 20a, a front wall 20b opposite to the rear wall 20a and two lateral sides 20c which connect the front wall 20b and the rear wall 20a to one another; an opening 21 for the extraction of the smoking articles from the container 2, which opening 21 is opposite to the bottom wall 23.
  • The packet 1 further comprises a lid 3 which is hinged to the container 2, at a first hinge line 4, and is mobile between an open configuration A in which it allows access to the smoking articles through the opening 21 of the container 2 and a closed configuration B in which it prevents access to smoking articles (hinged-lid type packet).
  • The lid 3 also comprises a front wall 30, a rear wall 31 and two lateral walls 32 which connect the front wall 30 and the rear wall 31. In detail, the rear wall 31 of the lid 3 is hinged to the rear wall 20a of the lateral wall of the container 2. The lid 3 furthermore comprises, an upper wall 33 orthogonal with respect to the front wall 30, to the rear wall 31 and to the two lateral walls 32 and connecting said walls.
  • The packet comprises a stamp 5 which is at least partially fixed to the lateral wall 20 of the container 2.
  • In detail, the stamp 5 is fixed to the rear wall 20a of the lateral wall 20 of the container 2 in a proximal position, with respect to the opening 21, at the end 22 of the container 2 opposite to the opening 21 (the stamp 5 can also be partly fixed to the rear wall 20a and in part to a lateral side 20c). Advantageously, said positioning of the stamp 5 confers the possibility of applying notices and images to the packet 1 in a given position and of a given dimension. In particular, the notices and images can cover over 65% of the surface of the rear wall of the packet 1 and can be arranged in the "high" part (i.e. farthest from the bottom wall 23 of the container 2) of the packet 1. Consequently, the proposed packet 1 meets the recent tobacco regulations that have been imposed in some countries.
  • Furthermore, the packet 1 comprises a tearing element 6 which is connected to the stamp 5 and can slide with respect to the lateral wall 20 of the container 2 so that, when the lid 3 is moved from the closed configuration B to the open configuration A at the first opening of packet 1, the stamp 5 is torn. Advantageously, the proposed packet 1 allows to place the stamp 5 in a position consistent with the recent tobacco directives and at the same time to ensure the tearing of the stamp 5 at the first opening of the packet 1.
  • With particular reference to Figure 5, the packet 1 comprises a slot 8 formed at the lateral wall 20 of the container 2; the tearing element 6 is arranged inside the container 2 and connected to the stamp 5 at the slot 8. The slot 8 allows to position the tearing element 6 inside the packet 1. Advantageously, the external aesthetics of packet 1 it is not modified.
  • The slot 8 is identified in an opening obtained in the lateral wall 20 of the container. In particular, the slot 8 can have a longitudinal development parallel to the development of the smoking articles arranged in the container 2 or orthogonal to the bottom wall of the container 2.
  • The slot 8 can have a profile having an elliptical shape (Figures 6 and 7). Alternatively, the slot 8 can have a profile of any other shape, for example rectangular.
  • The stamp 5 can be arranged to completely cover the slot 8 (Figure 2). Alternatively, the stamp 5 can only partially cover the slot 8.
  • Preferably, the slot 8 is formed in the lateral wall 20 of the container 2 in a proximal position, with respect to the opening 21, at the end 22 of the container 2 opposite to the opening 21. In other words, the slot 8 is closer to the bottom wall 23 of the container 2 with respect to the opening 21.
  • Preferably, the packet 1 comprises a connection element 9 that is arranged at the slot 8 and which is fixed to the tearing element 6 and to the stamp 5, to connect the tearing element 6 and the stamp 5 to one another.
  • The lateral wall 20 of the container 2 has a given thickness; consequently, the direct fixing of the stamp 2 to the tearing element 6 arranged in the container 2 can be complicated due to the thickness of the lateral wall 20. Advantageously, the connection element 9 obviates the aforementioned problem by ensuring an adequate fixing (indirect) of the stamp 5 to the tearing element 6. In this way, the tearing of the stamp 5 at the first opening of the packet 1 is ensured.
  • Preferably, the connection element 9 has a thickness equal to the thickness of the lateral wall 20. Alternatively, the connection element 9 can have a thickness slightly greater or slightly smaller than the thickness of the lateral wall 20 of the container 2.
  • With particular reference to Figures 6 and 7, the connection element 9 slides inside the slot 8. The end-stroke of the sliding of the tearing element 6 with respect to the lateral wall 20 can be defined either by the rotation of the lid 3 with respect to the container 2 or by the mutual dimensioning of the slot 8 and of the connection element 9.
  • The container 2 and the lid 3 of the packet 1 illustrated in Figures from 1 to 9 can be obtained starting from the blank 10 of Figure 11.
  • The blank 10 comprises a portion intended to form the container 2 and a portion intended to form the lid 3. Said portions are connected to one another at a weakening line 11 which will define the first hinge line 4.
  • The portion intended to form the container 2 comprises a bottom panel 23' which defines the bottom wall 23, a rear panel 20a' which defines the rear wall 20a of the container 2 and which is articulated with the bottom panel 23', a front panel 20b' which defines the front wall 20b of the container 2 and which is articulated with the bottom panel 23', and two lateral panels 20c' which define the two lateral sides 20c of the container 2 and which are articulated with the front panel 20b' and/or with the rear panel 20a' and/or with the bottom panel 23'.
  • Moreover, said blank 10 comprises the slot 8 obtained at the rear panel 20a'. Said blank 10 further comprises the connection element 9 which is arranged inside the slot 8 and which is fixed to the rear panel 20a' by means of connection points, for example two or three connection points (said connection points will be broken at the first opening of the packet 1). Alternatively, the connection element 9 can be arranged inside the slot 8 and fixed to the rear panel 20a' by means of a weakening line.
  • According to said embodiment, the connection element 9, the container 2 and the lid 3 are all made starting from the same blank 10. Advantageously, it is simple to manage the connection element 9 (which is also quite small in size) in the machine production of the packet 1. Furthermore, the waste of material is minimized.
  • Again, according to said embodiment, the tearing element 6 can be made by means of the blank 12 illustrated in Figure 11. The tearing element 6 can be made of cardboard and can have a rectangular shape.
  • Preferably, the tearing element 6 comprises a first part 60 which is fixed to the lid 3 and a second part 61 which is connected to the stamp 5.
  • The first part 60 and the second part 61 of the tearing element 6 are hinged to one another at a second hinge line 7. Furthermore, the first hinge line 4 and the second hinge line 7 are parallel to one another.
  • Advantageously, when the lid 3 is moved from the closed configuration B to the open configuration A, the tearing element 6 moves according to a connecting rod-crank mechanism.
  • Preferably, the first part 60 of the tearing element 6 has a greater thickness (for example, double) with respect to the second part 61 of the tearing element 6. Advantageously, this greater thickness ensures a correct movement of the tearing element 6 and therefore a correct tearing of the stamp 5.
  • With reference to the blank of Figure 11, the blank 12 intended to form the tearing element 6 comprises a first panel 60' and a second panel 61' which are connected to one another at a weakening line 13 which will define the second hinge line 7.
  • Moreover, the first panel 60' comprises a first panel part 60'a which is connected to the second panel 61' and a second panel part 60'b which is connected to the first panel part 60'a at a respective weakening line 14. In order to obtain the tearing element 6, said first and second panel parts 60'a, 60'b can be glued one over the other (so that the first part 60 has a double thickness with respect to the second part 61).
  • Alternatively, with reference to Figure 12, the blank 12 intended to form the tearing element 6 can comprise a slit 15 at the first weakening line 13 and a projecting portion 16 which is designed to engage in the slit 15 at the first opening of the packet 1. In detail, the second panel part 60'b of the first panel 60' is intended to be fixed to the lid 3 and the first panel part 60'a of the first panel 60' will face the same; at the first opening of the packet 1, the rotation of the lid 3 will cause the insertion of the projection 16 into the slit 15 so that the first panel part 60'a and the second panel part 60'b will become integral to one another.
  • Advantageously, in this case, it is not necessary to glue the first panel part 60'a and the second panel part 60'b to one another during the forming of the packet 1.
  • With particular reference to Figure 9, the second hinge line 7 is proximal to the end 22 of the container 2 with respect to the first hinge line 4, when the lid 3 is in the closed configuration B. Furthermore, the second hinge line 7 is distal to the end 22 of the container 2 with respect to the first hinge line 4, when the lid 3 is in the open configuration A.
  • As an alternative to the blank illustrated in Figure 10, the container 2 and the lid 3 can be made, for example, with the blank 10 illustrated in Figure 13.
  • In said case, the blank 10 which is intended to form the container 2 and the lid 3 does not further define also the connection element 9.
  • In this case, the connection element 9 can be made in one piece with the tearing element 6. With reference to Figure 14, the blank 12 is illustrated, with which the tearing element 6 and the connection element 9 can be formed in one piece.
  • Said blank 12 of Figure 14 is similar to that of Figure 11 or 12 but at the second panel 61' comprises an incision line that defines the connection element 9: said connection element 9 is articulated with the second panel 61' at a hinge line 17. By rotating the connection element 9' about said hinge line 17 until it is in abutment against the second panel 61' (subsequently it is also glued), a connection element 9 is obtained in one piece with the tearing element 6 (Figure 14).
  • Advantageously, also in said embodiment, it is simple to manage the connection element 9 (which is also quite small in size) in the machine production of the packet 1.
  • With reference to Figures 15 and 16, a further embodiment of a packet 1 of smoking articles according to the present invention is illustrated. This packet 1 is similar to that of Figures 1-11, except for the positioning of the stamp 5: the stamp 5 is fixed partially to the lateral wall 20 of the container 2 and partially to the bottom wall 23 of the container 2.
  • With reference to Figures 17-20, a second preferred embodiment of the packet 1 of smoking articles is described in the following.
  • Said packet 1 differs from the previous embodiments in that the tearing element 6 is arranged outside the container 2; consequently, the container 2 does not require the slot 8.
  • In detail, with particular reference to Figures 17-18, the packet comprises a group of smoking articles (not illustrated) and a wrapping 18 which wraps the group of smoking articles. The wrapping 18 can be made, for example, with a sheet of heat-sealable material comprising a label or a foil sheet comprising a portion which can be torn at the first opening of the packet 1.
  • The packet 1 comprises, furthermore, a container 2 that contains the group of smoking articles and which comprises: a bottom wall 23 at an end 22 of the container 2; a lateral wall 20 that extends from the bottom wall 23 and which comprises a rear wall 20a, a front wall 20b opposite to the rear wall 20a and two lateral sides 20c which connect the front wall 20b and the rear wall 20a to one another; an opening 21 for the extraction of the smoking articles from the container 2, which opening 21 is opposite to the bottom wall 23.
  • The packet 1 also comprises a lid 3 which is hinged to the container 2, at a first hinge line 4, and is mobile between an open configuration A in which it allows access to the smoking articles through the opening 21 of the container 2 and a closed configuration B in which the access to smoking articles is prevented (hinged-lid type packet).
The lid 3 also comprises an upper wall 33 orthogonal with respect to the front wall 30, to the rear wall 31 and to the two lateral walls 32 and connecting said walls.
  • The packet comprises a stamp 5 which is at least partially fixed to the lateral wall 20 of the container 2.
  • In detail, the stamp 5 is fixed to the rear wall 20a of the lateral wall 20 of the container 2 in a proximal position, with respect to the opening 21, at the end 22 of the container 2 opposite to the opening 21 (the stamp 5 can also be fixed in part to the rear wall 20a and in part to a lateral side 20c or can also be fixed in part to the rear wall 20a and in part to the bottom wall 23). Advantageously, said positioning of the stamp 5 confers the possibility of affixing to the packet 1 notices and images in a given position and of a given dimension. In particular, the notices and the images can cover more than 65% of the surface of the rear wall of the packet 1 and can be arranged in the "high" part (that is, farthest from the bottom wall 23 of the container 2) of the packet 1. Consequently, the proposed packet 1 meets the recent tobacco regulations that have been imposed in some countries.
  • The packet 1 comprises a tearing element 6 which is arranged outside the container 2.
  • In detail, the tearing element 6 is fixed to the outside of the lid 3, is fixed to the stamp 5 and can slide with respect to the lateral wall 20 of the container 2, when the lid 3 is moved from the closed configuration B to the open configuration A, so as to tear the stamp 5 at the first opening of the packet 1.
  • Advantageously, the tearing element 6 can be easily fixed to the container 2 subsequently to the forming of the container 2.
  • With particular reference to Figures 17 and 19, the tearing element 6 comprises a first part 60 which is fixed to the lid 3 and a second part 61 which is connected to the stamp 5. The first part 60 and the second part 61 of the tearing element 6 are hinged to one another at a second hinge line 7. The first hinge line 4 and the second hinge line 7 are parallel to one another.
  • The second hinge line 7 is distal to the end 22 of the container 2 with respect to the first hinge line 4, when the lid 3 is in the closed configuration B (Figures 17 and 19).
  • The second hinge line 7 is proximal to the end 22 of the container 2 with respect to the first hinge line 4, when the lid 3 is in the open configuration A.
  • Furthermore, the tearing element 6 can comprise a weakening line 64 which is proximal to the end 22 of the container 2 with respect to the first hinge line 4. Advantageously, during the opening of the lid 3 the tearing element 6 tends to adhere to the rear wall 20a of the container 2 (even after the stamp 5 has been torn).
  • Moreover, the tearing element 6 after the first opening of the packet 1 can be torn from the packet 1 (for example it can be torn along the weakening line 64 or along a further weakening line). In this case, the tearing element 6 can also perform a coupon-like function: on the back of the tearing element 6, various types of information of and/or images, for example advertisements, can be printed.
  • With reference to Figures 21-23, a packet 1 of the present invention is illustrated, similar to that of Figures 17-20, except for the thickness of the packet 1. In other words, the packet 1 of Figures 21-23 is a packet 1 thinner with respect to the packet 1 of Figures 17-20.
  • With reference to Figures 24-27, a third preferred embodiment of the packet 1 of smoking articles is described in the following.
  • In said third embodiment, the packet 1 results a sliding type packet, that is, it comprises an outer container 2 and an inner container; the outer container 2 and the inner container are mutually sliding. Advantageously, said embodiment of the packet 1 allows to exploit the inner container as a tearing element 6.
  • In detail, said packet 1 comprises a group of smoking articles (not illustrated) and a wrapping 18 which wraps the group of smoking articles. The wrapping 18 can be made, for example, with a sheet of heat-sealable material comprising a label or a foil sheet comprising a portion which can be torn at the first opening of the packet 1.
  • The packet 1 further comprises an outer container 2 which contains the group of smoking articles and which comprises a lateral wall 20, an opening 21 for the extraction of the smoking articles from the container 2 and an end 22 opposite to the opening 21 at which a bottom wall 23 is provided (alternatively the outer container 2 can have an open end 22) . The packet 1 also comprises a slot 8 formed at the lateral wall 20 of the outer container 2.
  • Furthermore, the packet 1 comprises the tearing element 6 which is arranged inside the outer container 2 which comprises a bottom and a sleeve-shaped portion 63 which extends from the bottom and which faces the lateral wall 20 of the container 2.
  • The packet 1 comprises, furthermore, the stamp 5 which is fixed at least partially to the lateral wall 20 of the container 2 and which is connected to the sleeve-shaped portion 63 of the tearing element 6 (as an alternative it can also be fixed partly to the bottom wall 23 of the outer container 2) at the slot 8.
  • The packet 1 also comprises a lid 3 which is hinged to the tearing element 6 and which is rotatable with respect to the container 2, at the first hinge line 4, between an open configuration A in which it allows access to the smoking articles through the opening 21 of the container 2 and a closed configuration B in which it prevents access to the smoking articles (in an alternative embodiment the lid 3 can be hinged to the outer container 2).
  • Preferably, also in said embodiment the packet 1 comprises the connection element (not illustrated in Figures 24-27) which is arranged at the slot 8 and which is fixed to the tearing element 6 and to the stamp 5, so as to connect the tearing element 6 and the stamp 5 to one another.
  • In particular, the connection element 9 can be glued or made in one piece with the sleeve-shaped portion 63 of the tearing element 6.
  • With particular reference to Figure 27, the slot 8 is formed in the lateral wall 20 of the outer container 2 in a proximal position, with respect to the opening 21, at the end 22 of the container 2 opposite to the opening 21.
  • According to any of the previously described embodiments, the container 2 can be made of cardboard. Similarly, the tearing element 6 can also be made of cardboard; alternatively, the tearing element 6 can possibly be made of a plastic material.
  • The stamp 5 is defined by a first part 50 which is connected to the tearing element 6 and a second part 51 which is fixed to the container 2. The first part 50 and the second part 51 are connected at weakening means 52 (one or more weakening lines 53) so as to facilitate the separation of the first part 51 from the second part 52 at the first opening of the packet 1.
