Description
- The present invention relates to a packet of smoking articles. In particular, the present invention relates to a packet of smoking articles having a stamp (or state stamp or tax seal) which must be torn at the first opening of the packet.
- A packet of smoking articles of a known type comprises: a group of smoking articles (e.g. cigarettes, cigars, electronic cigarettes or heat-not-burn products); a container that contains the group of smoking articles, which comprises a lateral wall, an opening for the extraction of the smoking articles from the container and a bottom opposite to the extraction opening; a lid that can be rotated with respect to the container between an open configuration in which it allows access to the smoking articles through the opening of the container and a closed configuration in which it prevents access to the smoking articles; a stamp that is fixed to the outside of the container. In order to prevent the re-use of stamps in counterfeit packets of smoking articles, it is important that, at the first opening of the packet, the stamp is torn.
In this regard, it is common practice to glue the stamp partly on the lateral wall of the container and partly on the lid so that at the first opening of the lid, the stamp is torn.
For example, patent applicationWO2006097850A2 and patent applicationEP0803450A1 describe a packet of cigarettes provided with a stamp which is torn at the first opening of the packet of cigarettes. - However, as a result of the recent tobacco directives which impose informative messages on the packet of smoking articles in given positions and of given dimensions, said positioning of the stamp is no longer possible.
- The object of the present invention is to provide a packet of smoking articles which overcomes the aforementioned drawback.
- The aforesaid object has been achieved by means of a packet of smoking articles according to the appended claims.

lid 3 also comprises afront wall 30, arear wall 31 and twolateral walls 32 which connect thefront wall 30 and therear wall 31. In detail, therear wall 31 of thelid 3 is hinged to therear wall 20a of the lateral wall of thecontainer 2. Thelid 3 furthermore comprises, anupper wall 33 orthogonal with respect to thefront wall 30, to therear wall 31 and to the twolateral walls 32 and connecting said walls. - The packet comprises a
stamp 5 which is at least partially fixed to thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2. - In detail, the
stamp 5 is fixed to therear wall 20a of thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2 in a proximal position, with respect to theopening 21, at theend 22 of thecontainer 2 opposite to the opening 21 (thestamp 5 can also be partly fixed to therear wall 20a and in part to alateral side 20c). Advantageously, said positioning of thestamp 5 confers the possibility of applying notices and images to thepacket 1 in a given position and of a given dimension. In particular, the notices and images can cover over 65% of the surface of the rear wall of thepacket 1 and can be arranged in the "high" part (i.e. farthest from thebottom wall 23 of the container 2) of thepacket 1. Consequently, the proposedpacket 1 meets the recent tobacco regulations that have been imposed in some countries. - Furthermore, the
packet 1 comprises atearing element 6 which is connected to thestamp 5 and can slide with respect to thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2 so that, when thelid 3 is moved from the closed configuration B to the open configuration A at the first opening ofpacket 1, thestamp 5 is torn. Advantageously, the proposedpacket 1 allows to place thestamp 5 in a position consistent with the recent tobacco directives and at the same time to ensure the tearing of thestamp 5 at the first opening of thepacket 1. - With particular reference to
Figure 5 , thepacket 1 comprises aslot 8 formed at thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2; thetearing element 6 is arranged inside thecontainer 2 and connected to thestamp 5 at theslot 8. Theslot 8 allows to position thetearing element 6 inside thepacket 1. Advantageously, the external aesthetics ofpacket 1 it is not modified. - The
slot 8 is identified in an opening obtained in thelateral wall 20 of the container. In particular, theslot 8 can have a longitudinal development parallel to the development of the smoking articles arranged in thecontainer 2 or orthogonal to the bottom wall of thecontainer 2. - The
slot 8 can have a profile having an elliptical shape (Figures 6 and 7 ). Alternatively, theslot 8 can have a profile of any other shape, for example rectangular. - The
stamp 5 can be arranged to completely cover the slot 8 (Figure 2 ). Alternatively, thestamp 5 can only partially cover theslot 8. - Preferably, the
slot 8 is formed in thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2 in a proximal position, with respect to theopening 21, at theend 22 of thecontainer 2 opposite to theopening 21. In other words, theslot 8 is closer to thebottom wall 23 of thecontainer 2 with respect to the opening 21. - Preferably, the
packet 1 comprises aconnection element 9 that is arranged at theslot 8 and which is fixed to thetearing element 6 and to thestamp 5, to connect thetearing element 6 and thestamp 5 to one another. - The
lateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2 has a given thickness; consequently, the direct fixing of thestamp 2 to the tearingelement 6 arranged in thecontainer 2 can be complicated due to the thickness of thelateral wall 20. Advantageously, theconnection element 9 obviates the aforementioned problem by ensuring an adequate fixing (indirect) of thestamp 5 to thetearing element 6. In this way, the tearing of thestamp 5 at the first opening of thepacket 1 is ensured. - Preferably, the
connection element 9 has a thickness equal to the thickness of thelateral wall 20. Alternatively, theconnection element 9 can have a thickness slightly greater or slightly smaller than the thickness of thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2. - With particular reference to
Figures 6 and 7 , theconnection element 9 slides inside theslot 8. The end-stroke of the sliding of the tearingelement 6 with respect to thelateral wall 20 can be defined either by the rotation of thelid 3 with respect to thecontainer 2 or by the mutual dimensioning of theslot 8 and of theconnection element 9. - The
container 2 and thelid 3 of thepacket 1 illustrated in Figures from 1 to 9 can be obtained starting from the blank 10 ofFigure 11 . - The blank 10 comprises a portion intended to form the
container 2 and a portion intended to form thelid 3. Said portions are connected to one another at a weakeningline 11 which will define thefirst hinge line 4. - The portion intended to form the
container 2 comprises a bottom panel 23' which defines thebottom wall 23, arear panel 20a' which defines therear wall 20a of thecontainer 2 and which is articulated with the bottom panel 23', afront panel 20b' which defines thefront wall 20b of thecontainer 2 and which is articulated with the bottom panel 23', and twolateral panels 20c' which define the twolateral sides 20c of thecontainer 2 and which are articulated with thefront panel 20b' and/or with therear panel 20a' and/or with the bottom panel 23'. - Moreover, said blank 10 comprises the
slot 8 obtained at therear panel 20a'. Said blank 10 further comprises theconnection element 9 which is arranged inside theslot 8 and which is fixed to therear panel 20a' by means of connection points, for example two or three connection points (said connection points will be broken at the first opening of the packet 1). Alternatively, theconnection element 9 can be arranged inside theslot 8 and fixed to therear panel 20a' by means of a weakening line. - According to said embodiment, the
connection element 9, thecontainer 2 and thelid 3 are all made starting from the same blank 10. Advantageously, it is simple to manage the connection element 9 (which is also quite small in size) in the machine production of thepacket 1. Furthermore, the waste of material is minimized. - Again, according to said embodiment, the tearing
element 6 can be made by means of the blank 12 illustrated inFigure 11 . The tearingelement 6 can be made of cardboard and can have a rectangular shape. - Preferably, the tearing
element 6 comprises afirst part 60 which is fixed to thelid 3 and asecond part 61 which is connected to thestamp 5. - The
first part 60 and thesecond part 61 of the tearingelement 6 are hinged to one another at asecond hinge line 7. Furthermore, thefirst hinge line 4 and thesecond hinge line 7 are parallel to one another. - Advantageously, when the
lid 3 is moved from the closed configuration B to the open configuration A, the tearingelement 6 moves according to a connecting rod-crank mechanism. - Preferably, the
first part 60 of the tearingelement 6 has a greater thickness (for example, double) with respect to thesecond part 61 of the tearingelement 6. Advantageously, this greater thickness ensures a correct movement of the tearingelement 6 and therefore a correct tearing of thestamp 5. - With reference to the blank of
Figure 11 , the blank 12 intended to form the tearingelement 6 comprises a first panel 60' and a second panel 61' which are connected to one another at a weakeningline 13 which will define thesecond hinge line 7. - Moreover, the first panel 60' comprises a first panel part 60'a which is connected to the second panel 61' and a second panel part 60'b which is connected to the first panel part 60'a at a
respective weakening line 14. In order to obtain the tearingelement 6, said first and second panel parts 60'a, 60'b can be glued one over the other (so that thefirst part 60 has a double thickness with respect to the second part 61). - Alternatively, with reference to
Figure 12 , the blank 12 intended to form the tearingelement 6 can comprise aslit 15 at thefirst weakening line 13 and a projectingportion 16 which is designed to engage in theslit 15 at the first opening of thepacket 1. In detail, the second panel part 60'b of the first panel 60' is intended to be fixed to thelid 3 and the first panel part 60'a of the first panel 60' will face the same; at the first opening of thepacket 1, the rotation of thelid 3 will cause the insertion of theprojection 16 into theslit 15 so that the first panel part 60'a and the second panel part 60'b will become integral to one another. - Advantageously, in this case, it is not necessary to glue the first panel part 60'a and the second panel part 60'b to one another during the forming of the
packet 1. - With particular reference to
Figure 9 , thesecond hinge line 7 is proximal to theend 22 of thecontainer 2 with respect to thefirst hinge line 4, when thelid 3 is in the closed configuration B. Furthermore, thesecond hinge line 7 is distal to theend 22 of thecontainer 2 with respect to thefirst hinge line 4, when thelid 3 is in the open configuration A. - As an alternative to the blank illustrated in
Figure 10 , thecontainer 2 and thelid 3 can be made, for example, with the blank 10 illustrated inFigure 13 . - In said case, the blank 10 which is intended to form the
container 2 and thelid 3 does not further define also theconnection element 9. - In this case, the
connection element 9 can be made in one piece with the tearingelement 6. With reference toFigure 14 , the blank 12 is illustrated, with which the tearingelement 6 and theconnection element 9 can be formed in one piece. - Said blank 12 of
Figure 14 is similar to that ofFigure 11 or 12 but at the second panel 61' comprises an incision line that defines the connection element 9: saidconnection element 9 is articulated with the second panel 61' at ahinge line 17. By rotating the connection element 9' about saidhinge line 17 until it is in abutment against the second panel 61' (subsequently it is also glued), aconnection element 9 is obtained in one piece with the tearing element 6 (Figure 14 ). - Advantageously, also in said embodiment, it is simple to manage the connection element 9 (which is also quite small in size) in the machine production of the
packet 1. - With reference to
Figures 15 and 16 , a further embodiment of apacket 1 of smoking articles according to the present invention is illustrated. Thispacket 1 is similar to that ofFigures 1-11 , except for the positioning of the stamp 5: thestamp 5 is fixed partially to thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2 and partially to thebottom wall 23 of thecontainer 2. - With reference to
Figures 17-20 , a second preferred embodiment of thepacket 1 of smoking articles is described in the following. - Said
packet 1 differs from the previous embodiments in that the tearingelement 6 is arranged outside thecontainer 2; consequently, thecontainer 2 does not require theslot 8. - In detail, with particular reference to
Figures 17-18 , the packet comprises a group of smoking articles (not illustrated) and a wrapping 18 which wraps the group of smoking articles. The wrapping 18 can be made, for example, with a sheet of heat-sealable material comprising a label or a foil sheet comprising a portion which can be torn at the first opening of thepacket 1. - The
packet 1 comprises, furthermore, acontainer 2 that contains the group of smoking articles and which comprises: abottom wall 23 at anend 22 of thecontainer 2; alateral wall 20 that extends from thebottom wall 23 and which comprises arear wall 20a, afront wall 20b opposite to therear wall 20a and twolateral sides 20c which connect thefront wall 20b and therear wall 20a to one another; anopening 21 for the extraction of the smoking articles from thecontainer 2, whichopening 21 is opposite to thebottom wall 23. - The
packet 1 also comprises alid 3 which is hinged to thecontainer 2, at afirst hinge line 4, and is mobile between an open configuration A in which it allows access to the smoking articles through theopening 21 of thecontainer 2 and a closed configuration B in which the access to smoking articles is prevented (hinged-lid type packet). - The
lid 3 also comprises afront wall 30, arear wall 31 and twolateral walls 32 which connect thefront wall 30 and therear wall 31. In detail, therear wall 31 of thelid 3 is hinged to therear wall 20a of the lateral wall of thecontainer 2. Thelid 3 also comprises anupper wall 33 orthogonal with respect to thefront wall 30, to therear wall 31 and to the twolateral walls 32 and connecting said walls. - The packet comprises a
stamp 5 which is at least partially fixed to thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2. - In detail, the
stamp 5 is fixed to therear wall 20a of thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2 in a proximal position, with respect to theopening 21, at theend 22 of thecontainer 2 opposite to the opening 21 (thestamp 5 can also be fixed in part to therear wall 20a and in part to alateral side 20c or can also be fixed in part to therear wall 20a and in part to the bottom wall 23). Advantageously, said positioning of thestamp 5 confers the possibility of affixing to thepacket 1 notices and images in a given position and of a given dimension. In particular, the notices and the images can cover more than 65% of the surface of the rear wall of thepacket 1 and can be arranged in the "high" part (that is, farthest from thebottom wall 23 of the container 2) of thepacket 1. Consequently, the proposedpacket 1 meets the recent tobacco regulations that have been imposed in some countries. - The
packet 1 comprises a tearingelement 6 which is arranged outside thecontainer 2. - In detail, the tearing
element 6 is fixed to the outside of thelid 3, is fixed to thestamp 5 and can slide with respect to thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2, when thelid 3 is moved from the closed configuration B to the open configuration A, so as to tear thestamp 5 at the first opening of thepacket 1. - Advantageously, the tearing
element 6 can be easily fixed to thecontainer 2 subsequently to the forming of thecontainer 2. - With particular reference to
Figures 17 and19 , the tearingelement 6 comprises afirst part 60 which is fixed to thelid 3 and asecond part 61 which is connected to thestamp 5. Thefirst part 60 and thesecond part 61 of the tearingelement 6 are hinged to one another at asecond hinge line 7. Thefirst hinge line 4 and thesecond hinge line 7 are parallel to one another. - The
second hinge line 7 is distal to theend 22 of thecontainer 2 with respect to thefirst hinge line 4, when thelid 3 is in the closed configuration B (Figures 17 and19 ). - The
second hinge line 7 is proximal to theend 22 of thecontainer 2 with respect to thefirst hinge line 4, when thelid 3 is in the open configuration A. - Furthermore, the tearing
element 6 can comprise a weakeningline 64 which is proximal to theend 22 of thecontainer 2 with respect to thefirst hinge line 4. Advantageously, during the opening of thelid 3 the tearingelement 6 tends to adhere to therear wall 20a of the container 2 (even after thestamp 5 has been torn). - Moreover, the tearing
element 6 after the first opening of thepacket 1 can be torn from the packet 1 (for example it can be torn along the weakeningline 64 or along a further weakening line). In this case, the tearingelement 6 can also perform a coupon-like function: on the back of the tearingelement 6, various types of information of and/or images, for example advertisements, can be printed. - With reference to
Figures 21-23 , apacket 1 of the present invention is illustrated, similar to that ofFigures 17-20 , except for the thickness of thepacket 1. In other words, thepacket 1 ofFigures 21-23 is apacket 1 thinner with respect to thepacket 1 ofFigures 17-20 . - With reference to
Figures 24-27 , a third preferred embodiment of thepacket 1 of smoking articles is described in the following. - In said third embodiment, the
packet 1 results a sliding type packet, that is, it comprises anouter container 2 and an inner container; theouter container 2 and the inner container are mutually sliding. Advantageously, said embodiment of thepacket 1 allows to exploit the inner container as a tearingelement 6. - In detail, said
packet 1 comprises a group of smoking articles (not illustrated) and a wrapping 18 which wraps the group of smoking articles. The wrapping 18 can be made, for example, with a sheet of heat-sealable material comprising a label or a foil sheet comprising a portion which can be torn at the first opening of thepacket 1. - The
packet 1 further comprises anouter container 2 which contains the group of smoking articles and which comprises alateral wall 20, anopening 21 for the extraction of the smoking articles from thecontainer 2 and anend 22 opposite to theopening 21 at which abottom wall 23 is provided (alternatively theouter container 2 can have an open end 22) . Thepacket 1 also comprises aslot 8 formed at thelateral wall 20 of theouter container 2. - Furthermore, the
packet 1 comprises the tearingelement 6 which is arranged inside theouter container 2 which comprises a bottom and a sleeve-shapedportion 63 which extends from the bottom and which faces thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2. - The
packet 1 comprises, furthermore, thestamp 5 which is fixed at least partially to thelateral wall 20 of thecontainer 2 and which is connected to the sleeve-shapedportion 63 of the tearing element 6 (as an alternative it can also be fixed partly to thebottom wall 23 of the outer container 2) at theslot 8. - The
packet 1 also comprises alid 3 which is hinged to the tearingelement 6 and which is rotatable with respect to thecontainer 2, at thefirst hinge line 4, between an open configuration A in which it allows access to the smoking articles through theopening 21 of thecontainer 2 and a closed configuration B in which it prevents access to the smoking articles (in an alternative embodiment thelid 3 can be hinged to the outer container 2). - Preferably, also in said embodiment the
packet 1 comprises the connection element (not illustrated inFigures 24-27 ) which is arranged at theslot 8 and which is fixed to the tearingelement 6 and to thestamp 5, so as to connect the tearingelement 6 and thestamp 5 to one another. - In particular, the
connection element 9 can be glued or made in one piece with the sleeve-shapedportion 63 of the tearingelement 6. - With particular reference to
Figure 27 , theslot 8 is formed in thelateral wall 20 of theouter container 2 in a proximal position, with respect to theopening 21, at theend 22 of thecontainer 2 opposite to theopening 21. - According to any of the previously described embodiments, the
container 2 can be made of cardboard. Similarly, the tearingelement 6 can also be made of cardboard; alternatively, the tearingelement 6 can possibly be made of a plastic material. - The
stamp 5 is defined by afirst part 50 which is connected to the tearingelement 6 and asecond part 51 which is fixed to thecontainer 2. Thefirst part 50 and thesecond part 51 are connected at weakening means 52 (one or more weakening lines 53) so as to facilitate the separation of thefirst part 51 from the second part 52 at the first opening of thepacket 1.
