Definitions
- This invention refers to a golf tee, that is, a stand to support the golf ball when playing the first stroke, whose distinctive feature is a number of longitudinal ribs which provide considerable stability if the tee is struck by the golf club.
- the tee can be made of plastic, resin, metal or any other appropriate material.
- tee In the game of golf they use a device called tee, which is pushed into the ground and defines a stable resting point for the ball at the beginning of the play at each hole, in such a way that once the ball is placed on the tee, it stands above ground level, which enables the player to hit a clean shot
- tees usually consist of solids of revolution with a pointed bottom end to insert them into the ground and a sort of head or cup at the top to keep the ball stable, in such a way that the solid of revolution has a completely smooth outer surface and when one strikes with the golf club, if the top part of the tee happens to get struck, it flies far away making it difficult to find.
- the invention discloses a golf tee according to appended claim 1.
- the tee which is being recommended successfully solves the aforementioned problem by means of a simple but highly effective solution.
- the distinguishing feature of this tee is that the side surface, and more specifically the area between the point and the head or cup where the ball is placed, has longitudinal ribs in the direction of the generatrix, whose number may vary. They are formed as a result of this central area having longitudinal grooves which determine the corresponding fin-like ribs on the side surface of the body of the tee.
- the tee maintains the classical conical configuration at the lower end to insert it into the ground, as well as the cup-shaped upper head to hold the ball, whereas the central body of the tee provides greater fixation of the tee to the ground when the ball is struck.
- the number of ribs or fins produced when making the longitudinal grooves on the tee can be two, three, four or any other number, since what really matters is their being there to fix the device to the ground and make it more stable, both when striking the ball as well as if the tee is struck by the golf club.
- the structure of the tee is simple and easy to manufacture and, in short, its manufacturing cost and sale price is low.
- the tee referenced in general as (1), consists of a body made of plastic, wood, metal, resin or another suitable material, elongated, with a lower section (2) to insert it into the ground and a top section (3) with a head shaped as a cup to stabilize the ball.
- this tee has a special feature, as its larger grasping section has a number of elongated grooves (4) in the direction of the generatrix which form elongated ribs (5) like longitudinal fins distributed equiangularly over the middle section of the body of the tee.
- the tee is inserted into the playing field in a much more stable way, which is good for the stability of the ball and for the possible projection of the tee if struck, as it will be shot at a shorter distance and will be easier to recover.

Description
- This invention refers to a golf tee, that is, a stand to support the golf ball when playing the first stroke, whose distinctive feature is a number of longitudinal ribs which provide considerable stability if the tee is struck by the golf club.
- The tee can be made of plastic, resin, metal or any other appropriate material.
- In the game of golf they use a device called tee, which is pushed into the ground and defines a stable resting point for the ball at the beginning of the play at each hole, in such a way that once the ball is placed on the tee, it stands above ground level, which enables the player to hit a clean shot
- However, tees usually consist of solids of revolution with a pointed bottom end to insert them into the ground and a sort of head or cup at the top to keep the ball stable, in such a way that the solid of revolution has a completely smooth outer surface and when one strikes with the golf club, if the top part of the tee happens to get struck, it flies far away making it difficult to find.
- This problem can be seen in the tee described in invention patent
US 2009/170638 , which describes a tee whose cup or upper end to hold the ball has a fanciful configuration so as to give the tee an aesthetic appearance as pleasing as possible and increase its useful service life, but whose central area, the part which is inserted into the ground, is cylindrical and completely smooth. Therefore, its adherence to the ground when struck will be very poor and the tee will fly far away and will be difficult to find. - A similar situation occurs in the case of document
US D511193 , in which the middle area of the body of the tee has a spherical core which enlarges the diameter of the hole when inserted into the ground. This prevents the rest of the surface of the tee, that is, the middle and upper sections, from coming into contact with the ground, due to their width being smaller, which considerable decreases the retention capacity of the tee upon being hit. - In short, conventional tees lack stability when they are struck.
- The invention discloses a golf tee according to appended
claim 1. The tee which is being recommended successfully solves the aforementioned problem by means of a simple but highly effective solution. - To be precise, the distinguishing feature of this tee is that the side surface, and more specifically the area between the point and the head or cup where the ball is placed, has longitudinal ribs in the direction of the generatrix, whose number may vary. They are formed as a result of this central area having longitudinal grooves which determine the corresponding fin-like ribs on the side surface of the body of the tee.
- This way, the tee maintains the classical conical configuration at the lower end to insert it into the ground, as well as the cup-shaped upper head to hold the ball, whereas the central body of the tee provides greater fixation of the tee to the ground when the ball is struck.
- The number of ribs or fins produced when making the longitudinal grooves on the tee can be two, three, four or any other number, since what really matters is their being there to fix the device to the ground and make it more stable, both when striking the ball as well as if the tee is struck by the golf club.
- Therefore, due to this configuration, if the tee is struck, it lands at a shorter distance when compared to conventional tees and this makes its recovery easier.
- Finally, it should be mentioned that the structure of the tee is simple and easy to manufacture and, in short, its manufacturing cost and sale price is low.
- To complement the description which is provided below and help better understand the characteristics of the invention, as a preferred embodiment, the description includes, as an integral part thereof, a set of drawings which are provided for illustrative purposes only and are not meant to be limiting. They show the following:
-
Figure 1 .- Shows a front elevation view of a golf tee made according to the object of the invention. -
Figure 2 .- Shows a top view of the aforementioned device. -
Figure 3 .- Shows a bottom view of the aforementioned device. -
Figure 4 .- Shows a diametrical section of the tee at the level of the ribs. -
Figure 5 .- Shows a perspective view of the aforementioned device. - According to the aforementioned figures, it can be seen that the tee, referenced in general as (1), consists of a body made of plastic, wood, metal, resin or another suitable material, elongated, with a lower section (2) to insert it into the ground and a top section (3) with a head shaped as a cup to stabilize the ball.
- But, in addition to these conventional features, this tee has a special feature, as its larger grasping section has a number of elongated grooves (4) in the direction of the generatrix which form elongated ribs (5) like longitudinal fins distributed equiangularly over the middle section of the body of the tee.
- This way, due to the fin-like ribs (5), the tee is inserted into the playing field in a much more stable way, which is good for the stability of the ball and for the possible projection of the tee if struck, as it will be shot at a shorter distance and will be easier to recover.
