Claims (7)

  1. A device for monitoring physiological parameters of an animal, including an accelerometer for detecting movements of the animal, a microcontroller for processing signals emitted by the accelerometer, a power source, an RF transmitter of the information signals developed by the microcontroller, and software for detecting heat from the animal on the one hand, and the imminence of birth on the other hand, characterized in that the device is suitable for being used, in distinct periods of the lifetime of the animal, and in different locations on the animal, on the one hand to detect heat of the animal, and on the other hand to detect birth, and in that it includes discriminating means for orienting the device upon the detection of heat of the animal or on the detection of the imminence of birth.
  2. The monitoring device according to claim 1, characterized in that the discriminating means is a switch borne by the device.
  3. The monitoring device according to claim 1, characterized in that the discriminating means is a remotely controllable electronic means.
  4. The monitoring device according to claim 1, characterized in that the discriminating means is software means for automatic recognition of the place of the device at the tail of the animal.
  5. The monitoring device according to claim 1, characterized in that, to detect the imminence of birth, the device is suitable for being attached to the tail of the animal.
  6. The monitoring device according to claim 1, characterized in that to detect heat, the device is suitable for being placed at the neck, the leg or the ear of the animal.
  7. A method for monitoring physiological parameters of an animal using a device according to claim 1, characterized by the following steps: at distinct periods in the lifetime of the animal, mounting the device at the tail of the animal to monitor the imminence of birth, and mounting it in another location on the animal to monitor another physiological parameter, and vice versa.
