Definitions

  • Modern documents such as identity cards or passports, usually include several verification features that can be used for document verification.
  • An example of a test feature is, for example, an optically detectable security feature that becomes visible when the document is illuminated with light of a predetermined wavelength, for example an infrared wavelength.
  • the document inspection is usually carried out using document inspection devices, which carry out the document inspection based on the inspection characteristics.
  • Testing algorithms can be used here, which carry out the document examination on the basis of test definitions stored in software for each document, for example, which define the test characteristics.
  • the check definitions are usually implemented by the manufacturer in the document checking devices and updated at regular intervals with update packages. However, updating a plurality of document checking devices simultaneously over a communication network increases the temporary network load in the communication network and prevents the use of the document checking devices during the updating process.
  • the disclosure document DE 10 2013 113 667 A1 describes a method for unlocking a vehicle locking system of a vehicle using an electronically readable identification document.

  • the invention relates to a document checking device for checking a document, with a capture device for capturing document data of a document, a communication interface which is designed to retrieve a check definition from a remote communication server via a communication network, wherein the check definition defines at least one check feature of the document , and a processor which is designed to check the test feature based on the recorded document data according to the test definition in order to check the document, in particular the authenticity of the document.
  • the document can be checked, for example, to check the.
  • the communication interface can be designed to retrieve the check definition automatically, for example in response to the triggering of the check of the document, and for this purpose to automatically establish the communication connection to the remote communication server or, if the communication connection already exists, to maintain it.
  • the communication connection to the communication server is established, for example, using a network address that is assigned to the communication server is assigned. This has the advantage that the document checking device can independently retrieve the current checking definition via the communication network.
  • the document can be one of the following documents: identity document, such as an identity card, passport, access control card, authorization card, company ID card, tax stamp or ticket, driver's license or vehicle ID card, document of value, means of payment, for example a bank card or credit card.
