Definitions
- the present invention relates to a vibration dampening device of the radial type to dampen the oscillation occurring in an oscillating element, which is particularly adequate to dampen the vibrations in the washing tub of a washing or drying machine.
- Document AT218995 shows a vibration dampening device for the oscillation in a washing machine.
- This device allows to dampen the oscillation generated by the drum of the washing machine by means of a device comprising a supporting element, an articulating piece and a rotating articulation.
- This configuration aims at achieving a way to dampen the oscillations by means of a rotating dampening system. Nevertheless, this configuration is conditioned by the mechanical and thermal properties of the pieces it is composed of as well as by the friction values that can be predetermined in each of the possible friction articulations.
- a first inventive aspect of the invention refers to a vibration dampening device for a washing tub of a washing or drying machine also comprising a housing.
- Said device comprises a first articulating piece, with a first end and a second end, the first end of the first articulating piece being provided to be connected to the washing tub in an articulated manner by means of a first articulation that allows rotation around a first rotation axis, a second articulating piece, with a first end and a second end, the first end of the second articulating piece being connected to the second end of the first articulating piece in an articulated manner by means of a second articulation that allows rotation around a second rotation axis, and the second end of the second articulating piece being provided to be connected to the housing by means of a third articulation that allows rotation around a third rotation axis, in which the first l articulation, the second articulation and/or the third articulation is an articulation that provides frictional resistance to rotation having a bushing, which can be crossed in the rotation axis by a bolt connectable to at least one lug, so that a friction element can be arranged being trapped between the
- an articulation that provides frictional resistance to rotation or a friction articulation is to be understood as an articulation in which the friction values during a rotation of the same exceed 10 N, the values ranging preferably from 20 N to 120 N and, more preferably, from 30 N to 60 N.
- Having the friction element fixed to the lug or to the bushing gives the advantage that it is possible to predetermine the frictional forces in the friction articulation by means of parameters such as the friction surface or the friction coefficient of the materials.
- the articulation that provides frictional resistance to rotation comprises a bushing, which is crossed in the rotation axis by a bolt connected to at least one lug, so that a friction element is arranged being trapped between the bushing and the at least one lug.
- the bolt is connected to two lugs preferably arranged in a U-shaped configuration, each on one side of the bushing, what makes the structure of the articulation more rigid. Both lugs can clamp the bushing strongly and have a friction element between the bushing and the same.
- the bolt is connected to the at least one lug. This connection can be realized by different connecting means such as screwing, by a nut, by welding, utilizing adhesive means or similar fixing means.
- the bushing can be arranged at an end of one of the articulating pieces and, then, the lugs can be arranged at an end of the other articulating piece and/or in the washing tub and/or in the housing, or the bushing can be arranged in the washing tub and/or in the housing and the lugs can be arranged at an end of one of the articulating pieces.
- the articulation providing frictional resistance to rotation can be arranged in any of the three, i.e. first, second and third articulation.
- the friction element is made of a high-compression material, in particular an expanded polyurethane sponge, e.g. from Cellasto ®.
- the friction element is connected to the bushing or the lug in a positive fit.
- This type of connection has the advantage of being very economical and easy to be industrialized. The simplest and easiest way to industrialize it consists in making a recess in the lug or the bushing, where the friction element is fixed in a positive fit with no possibility of movement. In this manner, no additional fixing elements are required.
- Positive-fit connections are the simplest way to connect the friction element either to the lug or the bushing. Nevertheless, if it is necessary and if the connection requires it, additional fixing means can be added between the friction element and the component where it is fixed (lug or bushing) such as adhesive means or other equivalent fixing means.
- the friction element is disc-shaped with an opening crossable by the bolt. In the friction articulation, there is a bolt-like element that performs the function consisting in clamping the bushing in one of the articulations against the at least one lug of the other articulation.
- the advantage of this embodiment is that the friction element is already prepared to be crossed by the bolt as well as the fact of being disc-shaped and, therefore, substantially flat to facilitate the housing, the clamping and the fixation of the same, either to the lug or to the bushing, in the friction articulation.
- the perimeter of the friction element is polygonal.
- the advantage of this embodiment is that, since the friction element has edges and angles, its immobilization is easier taking advantage of its own geometry in the lug or the bushing. No connecting elements additional to the lug or the bushing are required in the friction articulation. Furthermore, the fact of no additional elements being required reduces the cost and makes the industrialization process of the same much easier.
- the perimeter of the friction element js square, triangular or hexagonal. The friction element can be industrially produced in the form of a sheet from which the friction elements are cut having the adequate geometry and shapes for the friction articulations.
- both the lug and the bushing are made of a thermally conductive material are preferred, but if the lug or the bushing is not made of a thermally conductive material, it is advantageous to fix the friction element in the element, either the lug or the bushing, made of a thermally non-conductive material and that the other element, the bushing or the lug respectively, made of a thermally conductive material, has relative movement with respect to the friction element and rubs against it.
- This configuration gives the advantage consisting in providing an evacuation path for the heat generated by the friction occurring in the articulation that provides frictional resistance to rotation, in such a manner that the risk of overheating due to a prolonged functioning of said device is avoided, which could damage or even destroy the friction element of the same.
- a thermally conductive material is to be understood as a material having a thermal conductivity higher than 5 W/(m K), preferably higher than 10 W/(m K), and more preferably higher than 40 W/(m K).
- the thermally conductive material is a metal such as, for example, steel, aluminium, zinc, copper, zamak, stainless steel, bronze, brass and/or titanium or alloys thereof or any material having an adequate thermal conductivity.
- the first articulating piece and/or the second articulating piece are made of a metallic material and comprises the bushing integrated therein.
- This device gives the advantage of providing an articulating piece with better mechanical properties, enabling the device to withstand higher loads and to reduce the volume of the elements configuring the device.
- the utilization of this dampening system in a washing or drying machine frees space inside the same, which can be employed for different uses.
- the fact that the bushing is integrated in one of the articulating pieces gives the advantage of reducing the number of pieces of the dampening device as well as the costs of the same and the number of operations required for the manufacturing of the dampening device.
- the articulating piece made of the metallic material comprises the at least one lug integrated therein. The integration of the lug into one of the articulating pieces gives the advantage consisting in the reduction of the number of pieces of the dampening device as well as of the costs of the same and the number of operations required for the manufacturing of the dampening device.
- the second articulating piece is made of a plastic material with the bushing integrated therein which, in the third articulation, is susceptible of being connected to the at least one lug made of a metallic material of the housing of the washing or drying machine and the friction element is connected to the bushing in a positive fit.
- the second articulation is an articulation providing frictional resistance to rotation, wherein the bolt connects the at least one lug with the bushing under pressure with a predetermined force, the friction element being arranged between both of them.
- the first and/or the third articulation is an articulation providing frictional resistance to rotation
- the bolt connects the at least one lug with the bushing under pressure with a predetermined force, the friction element being arranged between both of them and the at least one lug being fixed to a support of the lugs and the support of the lugs being fixable to the housing or to the washing tub.
- This embodiment gives the advantage consisting in a much easier determination or fixation of the nominal frictional force of the dampening device.
- the dampening device can leave the assembly line having a fixed nominal frictional force. This frictional force can be measured and verified in the own assembly line and, if required, adjusted to an objective value, which is the nominal value at which it is desired that the device works. This is not easily realizable in the case that the adjustment through the bolt has to be carried out when the dampening device is mounted in the oscillating element in which it is going to work.
- a second inventive aspect of the invention refers to a manufacturing process of a vibration dampening device having at least a friction articulation that is manufactured following the steps of arranging at least a friction element between the bushing and a lug, connecting the friction element to the bushing or the lug, crossing the preceding set with a bolt, trapping the lug against the bushing under a prefixed pressure.
- said friction articulation can be fixed in any of the walls of the housing and/or in the washing tub.
- a third inventive aspect of the invention refers to a washing or drying machine comprising at least one vibration dampening device according to the first inventive aspect.
- the vibration dampening devices can be fixed to the sides of the housing or to the lower part of the housing or in parallel to the suspension elements in the upper or lower part of the washing tub.
- Said washing or drying machine can contain a plurality of dampening devices placed on one or both sides of the washing tub.
