Definitions
- the invention relates to a heat-regulating layer in the composite structure of a sliding board (ski, snowboard).
- This thermal control layer is disposed between the topping layer and the top layer (s).
- the object of the invention is to regulate the temperature of the running surface of the lining layer and thus to improve the sliding properties and reduce material wear. This goal is achieved by integrating phase change materials and thermal conductivity additives into the thermal control layer.
- the sliding action between the ski tread and the snow is a complex process. It is known that, due to the frictional heat generated during the sliding process, snow crystals melt locally and a film of water can form between the running surface and the snow surface. Such a water film acts to promote sliding, but at higher speeds and thus higher frictional heat can also lead to an undesirable "suction effect", which adversely affects the sliding speed.
- the aim of the invention is the regulation of the temperature of the running surface of the coating layer.
- EP 538 185 is a sintered PE ski coating described which contains additives with increased thermal conductivity and additional additives to improve the sliding properties, which have a melting temperature in the range between -20 ° C and +10 ° C.
- a disadvantage of this solution is that the additives adhere to the tread surface and are removed by the friction on the snow crystals during use.
- the invention has for its object to regulate the temperature of the running surface so that on the one hand at high snow temperatures (eg from 0 to -8 ° C) achieved a good thermal conductivity and, accordingly, the "suction effect" is avoided, and on the other hand especially in the startup phase and in medium-cold snow conditions (about -8 ° C to -20 ° C) the desired generation of a water film is ensured in this area. Also, at high temperatures on the running surface and at the edges, which results from the friction on the snow crystals, a large part of this heat is carried away and in particular at the edges damage to the material can be prevented. In addition, this effect should be guaranteed even after prolonged use. Additives must be incorporated in such a way that the mechanical function of the ski is maintained. According to the invention, this object is achieved primarily according to the characterizing part of the patent claims.
- the composite structure comprises one or more upper layers (1), the thermal regulation layer (2) containing phase change materials and thermal conductivity additives and the coating, ie the running surface (3).
- the thermoregulation layer (2) is located between pad (3) and the upper layer or layers (1).
- the heat-regulating layer is therefore a layer close to the running surface.
- the lining layer (3) is characterized by a high thermal conductivity. This is achieved by the addition of additives with high thermal conductivity or the use of materials with high thermal conductivity. Since the heat-regulating layer also has an increased thermal conductivity, according to the invention the conduction of frictional heat to the surface or from the running surface to the heat-regulating layer (3) is generally improved.
- the addition of an additive that at one or more known points from the solid into the liquid phase and thereby absorbs heat energy or heat when solidified ensures that the thus stored phase transformation energy is released at the running surface, as soon as Surface temperature of the tread falls below the melting point of the additive.
- this phase change material absorbs excess heat from the running surface or edges and transports it through the thermal conductivity additives in that direction.
- the thermal properties of the running surface can be influenced in such a way that they can be adapted practically as desired to the desired properties of a sliding board.
- the thermal behavior of a sliding board can be influenced by various factors in the context of this invention.
- phase change materials in the context of this invention are preferably compounds of phase change material in one Plastic matrix.
- encapsulated or supported phase change materials or pure phase change materials in raw form or in pure form are also suitable.
- PCM for the absorption of "surplus heat" u.a.
- edge region the use of PCM is advantageous, which have a phase change in the range of +20 to +85 ° C.
- the PCM contents in the matrix of the PCM-containing heat-regulating layer are between 30 and 85% by weight, based on the weight of this layer.
- the proportion of the thermal conductivity additives may range from 10 to 40% by weight, based on the weight of the layer. They are contained not only in the PCM-containing heat-regulating layer (3) but also in the running surface or possibly also in layers between the running surface and the heat-regulating layer (3), but in any case located near the running surface.
- phase change materials can be encapsulated, preferably they are introduced in non-encapsulated form as powders, granules, granules, foils / plates or casting compound. They may be incorporated directly during the manufacture of the tread-near layer, or subsequently incorporated into pores or channels in the layers, or sprinkled onto the surface of the tread or edge-near layer and incorporated into the structure during lamination or compression.
- Figure 1 shows the schematic structure of a composite structure of a sliding board, divided into an upper layer (1), which may consist of several individual layers, a layer (2) containing the phase change materials (PCM), and a lower layer (3), which is generally formed as a covering and is closed by the sliding surface.
- the PCM-containing layer (2) is located between the upper layer (1) and the lower layer (3) and is also referred to herein as the heat-regulating layer (2).
- the PCM-containing layer (2) can also be provided with additional anchor elements which are used to strengthen the composite structure and provide a particularly strong connection between PCM-containing layer (2) and upper (1) and lower (3) layer.
- the phase change materials can be used in the form of PCM foil inserts (9).
- PCM film inserts (9) have thicknesses of 1 to 5 mm.
- the PCM film liners (9) can be made by a thermoplastic processing method such as continuous sheet extrusion, a multi-component film line or a plate press line.
- the PCM film inserts include PCM materials embedded in a plastic matrix. It may also be composite films, consisting of a cohesive layer structure of upper (4) and lower (6) composite film of polyethylene, polyamide or polypropylene or of a compound of two or all of these polymer materials or aluminum and in between the phase change material (5) in the form of a PCM compounds that can be enriched with thermal conductivity additives.
- Figure 2 shows the structure of such Composite film comprising an upper and lower composite film (4, 6), which may also be made of different materials, and the PCM layer (5) therebetween, which may still be enriched with thermal conductivity additives.
- the PCM film insert (9) can consist of one piece, which extends over a longer area along the sliding board ( Figure 3).
- Figure 3 shows the structure of a heat control layer (2) with PCM foil inserts (9) in plan view.
- the PCM foil insert (9) is always surrounded by a transition region (8), which preferably shows a very good thermal conductivity and a solid bond between upper (1) and lower layer (3) and intermediate PCM-containing layer (2) provides.
- the transition area (8) ensures that there is no direct contact between the PCM foil insert (9) and the edges (7) or the area at the top or at the end of the gliding board.
- the PCM foil insert (9) may consist of one piece ( Figure 3) or of several individual PCM foil insert pieces (9A, 9B, 9C) of different geometry arranged in the longitudinal ( Figure 4) or transverse ( Figure 5) to the sliding board are.
- the individual PCM film insert pieces (9A, 9B, 9C) may comprise phase change materials having different melting points A, B or C and / or contain different thermal conductivity additives in different concentrations.
- the proportion of the highly thermally conductive material, in particular the aluminum powder or the carbon is about 10 wt .-% to 40 wt .-%, both in the coating layer (3) and in the phase change material-containing layer (2) and there in particular in areas between the lining layer or edge and the phase change material containing areas.
- the PCM-containing layer (2) is formed as a honeycomb structure in which the PCM is distributed in the cavities between the honeycomb walls.
- different phase change materials can be distributed in a controlled manner over the cavities, for example phase change materials with a higher melting temperature, e.g. 42 ° C or higher, near the edges, while in the other areas, lower melting point PCM, e.g. 5 to 17 ° C, are included.
- the PCM material can be sprinkled or poured into the honeycombs in powder or granule form.
- the phase change material may be mixed with thermal conductivity additives.
- honeycomb walls The purpose of the honeycomb walls is to ensure the mechanical strength of the PCM-containing layer (2) and to provide a firm bond to the upper (1) and lower (3) layers, thus improving the functionality of the entire upper-layer composite structure (1 ), PCM-containing layer (2) and lower or covering layer (3).
- the honeycomb walls are coated with thermal conductivity materials which may also serve as reinforcing materials at the same time, e.g. Carbon nanotubes, carbon fibers or metal fibers or they themselves have a good thermal conductivity.
- the PCM-containing layer (2) functions as a textile reinforcing layer, eg a nonwoven fabric or 3D knitted fabric or foam, wherein the pores or voids are filled with phase change material in the same manner as in the honeycomb structure.
- the textile reinforcing material may be used alone or embedded in a plastic matrix, preferably of thermoplastic polymers, or laminated between upper and lower polymeric topcoat.
- the invention can advantageously be admixed with an admixture of from 30% by weight to 85% by weight, preferably from 45% by weight to 70% by weight, based on the weight of the PCM-containing Heat regulation layer (3), realize.
- the amounts of phase change materials and the type of phase change materials are not evenly distributed throughout the layer.
- near the edge phase change materials are concentrated, which have a higher melting range, preferably between 40 and 85 ° C. This is to avoid that the edge material, which is particularly stressed by friction and thus particularly heated, is damaged. This can lead to burns.
- phase change materials with a higher melting point are hydrocarbon compounds having 16 to 32 carbon atoms and melting points between 20 and 85 ° C; even more C atoms lead to even higher melting points up to 100 ° C.
- phase change materials having melting points in the range of 0 to 85 ° C are possible, for example, salt hydrates or alloys.
- the phase change materials are PCM compounds in which the phase change material is embedded in a plastic matrix.
- phase change materials As is known to the person skilled in the art, the list can be continued by any other phase change materials. Which phase change materials are used, always depends on the type of incorporation and of the support materials for these phase change materials, ie the structure of the layer in which the phase change materials are involved.

Abstract
Description
- Kohlenwasserstoffverbindungen mit 12 bis 28 C-Atomen und Schmelzpunkten zwischen 0 und 60 °C; noch mehr C-Atome führen zu noch höheren Schmelzpunkten bis zu 100 °C;
