Der erfindungsgemäße Lift, insbesondere Leiterlift, für den Höhentransport von Lasten hat demnach einen die Last aufnehmenden, eine Roll- und/oder Gleiteinrichtung aufweisenden Schlitten sowie eine Antriebseinheit zum Verfahren der Last, insbesondere des Schlittens, entlang einer Wegstrecke. Der Lift, insbesondere Leiterlift, ist ferner so aufgebaut, dass die Antriebseinheit in den Schlitten integriert ist und die Roll- und/oder Gleiteinrichtung Mittel aufweist, mit deren Hilfe die Roll- und/oder Gleiteinrichtung von einer geöffneten in eine verriegelte Stellung und umgekehrt überführbar ist. Der Lift selbst ist also eine kompakte Einheit ohne die bisherige Zweiteilung in Windeneinheit, welche am Fuß der Leiter fixiert ist, und Schlitten, welcher auf der Leiter verfahrbar ist. Die Windeneinheit fährt also gewissermaßen mit dem Schlitten mit. Dadurch ist es möglich, den gesamten Lift auch beispielsweise an einer Decke hängend oder horizontal liegend als Lastwinde einzusetzen.
