Description

LAUNDRY DRYING MACHINE WITH A CONDENSATE WATER RECEPTACLE
  • The present invention relates to a laundry drying machine comprising a water storage receptacle where the condensate water is collected to be discharged by the user.
  • In a laundry drying machine, the condensate water is typically transferred to a water storage assembly in the form of a water receptacle having a certain storage capacity. The accumulated water should then be periodically emptied by the user by way of taking the container out of its housing. This process might take a certain time duration and trigger user complaints especially if it takes longer time than anticipated to empty a full container. In order for addressing this inconvenience and shorten the period required for emptying the condensate water, several measures can be taken to provide a quicker and more practical user experience. To this end, important design features to consider can be suggested as the mechanical structure of a valve system selectively enabling fluid flow, geometrical shape of the container and presence of an additional air inlet of the container.
  • In prior art applications, an air inlet functional in accelerating water discharging is provided by an additional air inlet which is positioned on top of the water container or proximate/immediately adjacent to the water outlet. Another alternative way to ensure air flow into the container can be the provision of a manually operated water passage.
  • It might occasionally happen that the disadvantage associated with delayed discharging of the condensate water causes termination of the process by the users before it is actually completed. The fact that the process is interrupted while the container still contains water is an indication of user discontent associated with the time and effort needed to empty and reinstall the container into its housing.
  • A prior art publication in the technical field of the present invention may be referred to as DE3119354, disclosing a container for the condensated water in a laundry dryer. The condensate-collecting container serves, in a laundry dryer with an air-cooled condensation device, for storing the condensation liquid extracted from the damp laundry. After the drying operation, the collecting container has to be removed from the dryer and emptied each time. So that, no water can escape from the collecting container during this removal operation, the collecting container has structures against spilling over. A pouring-out aid for emptying the collecting container is obtained.
  • The present invention provides a valve system positioned underneath a water storage receptacle which opens automatically with the effect of the gravity during the emptying process and therefore ensures practicability and an ease of use for the user and prevents the possibility of water leakage when closed, as defined by the characterizing features in Claim 1 and subsequent Claims.
  • Primary object of the present invention is to provide a self-regulated valve system which opens and closes in response to the gravity force and pressure difference to ensure air entry into the water storage receptacle to accelerate the discharging process.
  • According to the present invention, a laundry drying machine having a water storage receptacle is proposed. The receptacle has a water outlet on a top surface and a valve system on a bottom surface. Therefore, the water outlet and the valve system are located on opposite sides, on surfaces extending parallel to each other.
  • The valve system selectively opens an air passageway in response to positional orientation of the water storage receptacle. In other words, when the valve system is turned upside down, it automatically allows air into the receptacle and in normal storage position of the receptacle, it functions as a sealing device.
  • Automatic opening effect in response to positional change is enhanced by weight blocks. An impermeability means is annularly fixedly interposed between an annular seal fixation means and the weight blocks.
  • Alternatively, a ball valve is disclosed, also automatically enabling air intake in response to positional orientation of the water storage receptacle between an operational position of the water storage receptacle and a discharging position thereof.
  • Accompanying drawings are given solely for the purpose of exemplifying a laundry drying machine having a water storage receptacle whose advantages over prior art were outlined above and will be explained in brief hereinafter.
  • The drawings are not meant to delimit the scope of protection as identified in the claims nor should they be referred to alone in an effort to interpret the scope identified in the claims without recourse to the technical disclosure in the description of the present invention.
  • Fig. 1 demonstrates general perspective upper and lower views of a water storage receptacle according to the present invention.
  • Fig. 2a demonstrates a side view of the water storage receptacle and Fig. 2b demonstrates a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A of Fig. 2a while the valve system is closed according to the present invention.
  • Fig. 3a demonstrates a side view of the water storage receptacle and Fig. 3b demonstrates a cross-sectional view taken along line A-A of Fig. 3a while the valve system is open according to the present invention.
  • Fig. 4a and 4b respectively demonstrate enlarged views of the valve system as shown in details X and Y of Fig. 2b and 3b according to the present invention.
  • Fig. 5a and 5b respectively demonstrate cross-sectional views of a valve system in open and closed state according to an alternative embodiment of the present invention.

  • The present invention relates to a laundry drying machine having a removable water storage receptacle (1). A valve system (5) of the water storage receptacle (1) prevents water leakage and provides an accelerated discharging process of the contained water as will be delineated below.
  • The laundry dryer machine according to the present invention comprises a water storage receptacle (1) with the valve system (5) conventionally having a valve shaft (6) axially movably disposed within a valve enclosure (8) such that the valve system (5) selectively enables fluid flow. An annular impermeability means (7) is attached to a seal fixation means (11), which is also an annular extension serving for maintaining the impermeability means (7) in a position extending around the valve shaft (6) to selectively open an air passageway (9) to let air flow into the water storage receptacle (1).
  • The valve system (5) is closed when the water storage receptacle (1) is installed in its housing and therefore prevents leakage of water when the impermeability means (7) is in contact with the valve enclosure (8) portions. In case the water storage receptacle (1) is removed and flipped over to discharge accumulated water through a water outlet (4), the valve system (5) automatically allows air intake due to the gravity force exerted by special weight blocks (10) as explained below.
  • The weight blocks (10) are effective in that the valve system (5) responds to the positional orientation of the water storage receptacle (1) in a quicker manner to allow air intake into the water storage receptacle (1) so that the user experiences a more practical discharge process in terms of decreasing the time period needed for completing the process.
  • While multiple drying cycles are effectuated, the impermeability means (7) being attached to the seal fixation means (11) remains in close contact relationship with the valve enclosure (8) parts because of the water pressure inside the water storage receptacle (1) and also due to the gravity force applied by the weight blocks (10). The effect of the weights blocks (10) in the seated position of the water storage receptacle (1) is especially advantageous in case the amount of the condensate water inside the receptacle is limited, in which case the weight blocks (10) help maintaining the closed state of the valve system (5). On the other hand, when the user attempts at emptying the receptacle, the overturned valve system (5) then functions in the manner to open the air passageway (9) and enables air intake into the receptacle.
  • During the discharging of the water out from the water storage receptacle (1), the valve system (5) is positioned upwards at the opposite side of the water outlet (4) upon which the gravitational force leads to the release of the impermeability means (7) from the valve enclosure (8). In sum, the pressure outside the receptacle being greater than the pressure inside releases the impermeability means (7) and therefore lets the air inside the water storage receptacle (1), a fast and easy discharging of the accumulated water is hence ensured.
  • The self-regulated valve system (5) of the present invention therefore provides both water leakage prevention function when the water storage receptacle (1) is used in storage position and air intake function when the receptacle is used in discharging position.
  • According to the present invention, the impermeability means (7) is annularly fixedly interposed between the seal fixation means (11) and the weight blocks (10), therefore providing a quicker balanced opening in overturned position even if the water storage receptacle (1) does not take a fully horizontal plane during discharging.
  • As the valve system (5) can consist of seals and portions which open and close depending on the gravity force and the difference between internal and external pressure of the water storage receptacle (1), the valve system (5) can also be designed in the form of alternative structures such as a ball valve (12) selectively closing and opening the air passageway (9) depending on the position of the water storage receptacle (1).
  • The ball valve (12) responds equally quicker to the regular operational position of the water storage receptacle (1) by providing a sealing effect and acts as an air-receiving hole when the receptacle is turned upside down for discharging purpose. The ball valve (12) has a ball valve enclosure (14) within which a ball (13) is allowed a certain amount of displacement so as to selectively open and close the air passageway (9) depending on the orientation of the water storage receptacle (1).
  • In summary, the present invention proposes a laundry drying machine to effectuate processing of the laundry placed in a drum, the machine comprising a front door allowing access into the drum, an electric motor rotating sad drum, a water storage receptacle (1) to collect condensate water.
  • In one embodiment of the present invention, the water storage receptacle (1) has a water outlet (4) on a top surface (2) and a valve system (5) on a bottom surface (3) and the valve system (5) selectively enables fluid flow through an air passageway (9) in response to positional orientation of the water storage receptacle (1).
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the valve system (5) is in closed state and an annular impermeability means (7) is in contact with valve enclosure (8) parts to prevent leakage of water when the water storage receptacle (1) is in installed state.
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the valve system (5) automatically opens to allow air intake when the water storage receptacle (1) is removed and flipped over to discharge the condensate water through the water outlet (4).
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the impermeability means (7) is fixedly disposed around a valve shaft (6), the valve shaft (6) being axially movably disposed within the valve enclosure (8) parts.
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the valve system (5) automatically opens to allow air intake when the water storage receptacle (1) is removed and flipped due to gravity force exerted by weight blocks (10).
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the impermeability means (7) is annularly fixedly interposed between an annular seal fixation means (11) fixedly disposed around the valve shaft (6) and the weight blocks (10).
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the valve system (5) is in the form of a ball valve (12) selectively enabling fluid flow through an air passageway (9) in response to positional orientation of the water storage receptacle (1) between an operational position of the water storage receptacle (1) and a discharging position thereof.
  • In a further embodiment of the present invention, the ball valve (12) has a ball valve enclosure (14) within which a ball (13) is allowed a certain amount of displacement so as to selectively open and close the air passageway (9) depending on the orientation of the water storage receptacle (1).
  • Therefore, the present invention advantageously facilitates discharging of the water storage receptacle (1) by means of the valve system (5) which can automatically enable air intake during a discharging orientation and take its sealing position when the water storage receptacle (1) is in normal condensate water storage position.
