Description

A SLIDING DOOR STOPPER MECHANISM
DESCRIPTION
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a sliding door stopper mechanism which enables the sliding doors to remain in open position in vehicles with sliding doors and releases the door with little force when it is wanted to be closed again.
Background of the Invention
Sliding door systems are frequently used especially in light commercial vehicles due to the ease of loading goods and objects. Generally pulling or pushing force should be applied with human hand during opening and closing these sliding doors. The sliding doors cannot move without deactivating the lock via the door handle since they are locked in closed position via a lock mechanism when they are in closed position. However they can easily move on the rails since they are on the rail when they are in open position. This situation causes the sliding door to close by itself in an unwanted time and poses danger for the user and the loads.
In the state of the art, the sliding door is locked in open position in order to provide solution for this problem. These kinds of systems require opening the lock when the sliding door is wanted to be closed and then closing the sliding door. It is difficult to perform this process by one hand in several situations. This situation prevents the sliding door from being closed by the users easily and causes time loss.
In Turkish patent document, an application known in the state of the art relates to a mechanism which enables to reduce the variety in force required to be applied during stopping and releasing the door and enables a better holding with less parts and especially enables the sliding doors used in vehicles to be kept open in a certain position, which comprises at least one slide having a slide end on which the door wanted to be kept in a certain position moves via a wheel, at least one pressure member comprising a connection rod which enables the parts forming the mechanism to be attached to the slide end, a pressure member opening enabling to minimize the change of force and a pressure member protrusion which prevents the uncontrolled movement of the door by entering between two consequent wheels and compressing them therein, at least one connection member used in connecting the connection arm and pressure member.
Korean Patent document, another application known in the state of the art, discloses a sliding door system designed for vehicle body. According to this vehicle system, the door is opened and closed easily; the process in the guide rail is made easier by decreasing the space. The door bracket is fixed to the door and connected to a cylindrical bracket, and it is supported via the guide cylinder and carried to the guide rail. The cylindrical bracket is connected to the door bracket and rotated with a vertical angle. The sliding door is moved away from the vehicle body by means of an elastic unit and a stopper. The movement of the guide cylinder is prevented via the stopper on the guide rail. The door is integrated with the vehicle door and performs the closing movement on the vehicle body with elastic force applied against the spring by the cylindrical bracket. These applications used in the current technique cannot provide a sufficient solution for the sliding doors remaining fixed in open positions and being able to be closed easily.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to provide a sliding door stopper mechanism which enables the sliding doors used in vehicles to be fixed in open position.
Another objective of the present invention is to provide a sliding door stopper mechanism which enables to easily close the sliding door without requiring to open a lock mechanism when the sliding door is open position in vehicles using sliding door.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A sliding door stopper mechanism developed to fulfill the objectives of the present application is illustrated in the accompanying figures, wherein
Figure 1 is the cross-sectional view of the inventive sliding door stopper mechanism wherein the sliding door is ajar.
Figure 2 is the cross-sectional view of the inventive sliding door stopper mechanism wherein the sliding door passes through the mechanism while it is opening.
Figure 3 is the cross-sectional view of the inventive sliding door stopper mechanism wherein the sliding door is fully open.
Figure 4 is the cross-sectional view of the inventive sliding door stopper mechanism wherein the sliding door passes through the mechanism while it is closing.
The components shown in the figures are each given reference numbers as follows:
1. Sliding door stopper mechanism
2. Sliding door bracket
3. Box
4. First stopper
5. Wheel
6. First stopper spring
7. First stopper pin
8. Second stopper
9. Second stopper spring
10. Second stopper pin
11. Cleat K. Sliding door
R. Sliding door rail
The inventive sliding door stopper mechanism (1), which enables the sliding door (K) to remain in open position when it is opened and allows the sliding door (K) to be closed easily, essentially comprises
- at least one sliding door bracket (2) which is provided on the sliding door (K),
- at least one box (3) which is provided on the rail (R) of the sliding door,
- at least one first stopper (4) which is in form of a rod effected by the sliding door (K) while it is opening,
- at least one wheel (5) which is provided on the first stopper (4) and to which the sliding door bracket (2) contacts,
- at least one first stopper spring (6) which controls the movement of the first stopper (4),
- at least one first stopper pin (7) around the axis of which the first stopper (4) can rotate,
- at least one second stopper (8) which is in form of a rod effected by the sliding door (K) while it is closing,
- at least one second stopper spring (9) which controls the movement of the second stopper (8),
- at least one second stopper pin (10) around the axis of which the second stopper (8) can rotate,
- at least two cleats (11) which are provided between the first stopper (4) and the second stopper (8), and the second stopper (8) and the sliding door rail (R).
The sliding door bracket (2) slides over the wheel (5) provided on the first stopper (4), and thus enables the sliding door (K) to be fixed in open position. The box (3) is form of a protective housing comprising the other parts of the sliding door stopper mechanism (1) therein. The second stopper (8) is connected to the box (3) from its one end via a second stopper pin (10) around the axis of which it can rotate. The second stopper spring (9) applies pressure between the second stopper (8) and the box (3) such that it will move the second stopper (8) away from the box (3).
The first stopper (4) is connected to the other end of the second stopper from its one end via a first stopper pin (7) around the axis of which it can rotate. The first stopper spring (6) applies pressure between the first stopper (4) and the second stopper (8) such that it will move the first stopper (4) away from the box (3) and the second stopper (8).
The wheel (5) is connected to the other end of the first stopper such that it will contact the sliding door bracket (2).
When the sliding door (K) is opened by holding its handle, the sliding door (K) moves towards the rear part of the vehicle on the sliding door rail (R) along the sliding door rail (R) path. (Figure 1) In opening movement, the sliding door bracket (2) contacts the wheel (5) connected to the first stopper (4) inside the box (3). With this contact, the force applied by the sliding door bracket (2) beats the force of the first stopper spring (6) between the first stopper (5) and the second stopper (8). Therefore, it enables the wheel (5) to go on the sliding door bracket (2) by the first stopper (5) rotating around the axis at which it is fixed to the second stopper (8) with the first stopper pin (7). Therefore the door continues to open. (Figure 2)
As the sliding door (K) continues to open, the wheel (5) is released from the sliding door bracket (2) and forms barrier behind the bracket (2) in closing direction of the sliding door (K). (Figure 3) When the sliding door (K) is pulled in front of the vehicle while it is being closed, the sliding door bracket (2) contacts the wheel (5). With this contact, the force applied by the sliding door bracket (2) beats the force of the second stopper spring (9) between the second stopper (8) and the box (3). Therefore, it enables the wheel (5) to go on the sliding door bracket (2) by the second stopper (8) rotating around the axis at which it is fixed to the box (3) with the second stopper pin (10). There is no barrier in closing the sliding door (K) upon the wheel (5) going above the sliding door bracket (3). The first stopper (4) rotates around the first stopper pin (7) while the sliding door (K) is opening, and allows the passage of the sliding door bracket (2). The second stopper (8) rotates around the second stopper pin (7) while the sliding door (K) is closing, and allows the passage of the sliding door bracket (2).
In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the wheel (5) is manufactured from elastomer material in order to reduce the noises generated due to the crashes.
The cleat (11) is in form of buffer which are provided between the first stopper (4) and the second stopper (8), and between the second stopper (8) and the sliding door rail (R) in order to reduce the noises generated due to the clash of these parts. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, the cleat (11) is manufactured from elastomer material in order to reduce the noises generated due to the crashes.
