Description

  • The present invention relates to a laundry dryer comprising a fragrance source.
  • In laundry dryers, the laundry to be dried lose the fragrance of the detergent and/or the softener thereon during the drying process. The reason for this is that the air that passes over the laundry during the drying process removes the fragrance on the laundry. In the state of the art, various embodiments are known for the laundry to smell good after the drying process. One of these embodiments is to place a fragrance source inside the dryer to provide fragrance. When the fragrance source placed is positioned very close to the laundry or contacts the laundry, dispersion of the fragrance is not homogeneous and while some of the laundry smell intensively some do not smell at all. Moreover, for an efficient scenting process, the fragrance source must contact the hot and humid drying air since the diffusion of the fragrance molecules increases in the hot and humid air. In the state of the art, the fragrance sources are positioned on the lint filter. This situation makes it difficult for the user to clean the lint filter and the fragrance source loses its fragrance when the lint filter is washed. Moreover, the fragrance outlet holes on the fragrance source on the lint filter may be clogged by lints.
  • In the state of the art European Patent Application No. EP2145997 , a dryer is disclosed, comprising a fragrance source disposed on the front supporter that supports the tub from the front and whereto the user is enabled to reach easily. Similar dryers comprising fragrance sources are also known from EP-2,669,423 A1 and EP-2,749,687 A1 .
  • In the state of the art Korean Patent Application No. KR20070007548 , a dryer is disclosed having a fragrance source disposed on the lint filter.
  • The aim of the present invention is the realization of a dryer comprising a fragrance source that is placed on the body so as to be easily mounted/dismounted by the user.
  • The dryer realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a fragrance source that is placed into the housing wherein the lint filter is placed, separately from the lint filter. By means of the fragrance source being provided separately from the lint filter, possible clogging are prevented, the fragrance is enabled to mix with the process air that provides drying without permeating into the lint filter and the cleaning of the lint filter is facilitated. Moreover, after leaving the tub, the process air providing the drying passes through the housing in a hot and humid manner and the hot and humid air provides an efficient scenting process by increasing the amount of fragrance emitted in unit time from the fragrance source.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the fragrance source is placed into the housing so as to be under the lint filter. Thus, the fragrance source is prevented from being affected by the lints carried by the process air.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the cross-sectional area of the housing narrows in the flow direction of the air. The process air, the flow rate of which increasing while moving through the narrowing housing, enables the speed of diffusion to increase and ensures that more fragrance molecules disperse from the fragrance source.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the fragrance source is placed into the housing so as to be located side-by-side with the lint filter. Thus, the user is enabled to easily mount/dismount the fragrance source into/from the housing.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, two upright elements extending from the inner wall of the housing into the housing side by side are provided, and the fragrance source is placed in between the upright elements. While the direct contact of the process air with the fragrance source is provided, the user is enabled to mount the fragrance source into the housing without any effort. The fragrance source may be a solid fragrance chemical or have a casing with a form that may fit in between the upright elements.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the upright elements curve towards each other and partially surround the fragrance source when the fragrance source is placed therebetween. The user can place the fragrance source in between the upright elements as into a pocket. Thus, the placement of the fragrance source is facilitated and the fragrance source is prevented from displacing due to the effect of the flow rate of the process air.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, a cut-out wherein the fragrance source is placed is arranged in the housing. By placing the fragrance source into the cut-out, the fragrance source is prevented from obstructing the process air and decreasing the drying effectiveness.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the surface, facing the interior of the housing, of the fragrance source placed into the cut-out forms a smooth surface with the inner surface of housing. By means of the protrusion-free configuration of the fragrance source and the housing, the possible irregularities in the flow of the process air are prevented.
  • In the dryer of the present invention, the fragrance source is placed into the housing so as to contact with the hot and humid process air, independently from the lint filter. The heavily-diffused fragrance circulates the air duct and homogeneously permeates into the laundry in the tub. By means of the lint filter being provided separately from the fragrance source, the lint filter can be easily cleaned and moreover, no structural changes on the lint filter are needed for the placement of the fragrance source.
  • The dryer realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
    • Figure 1 - is the perspective view of a dryer.
    • Figure 2 - is the front schematic view of a dryer and a lint filter before the lint filter is placed into the housing.
    • Figure 3 - is the sideways schematic view of the dryer relating to an embodiment of the present invention.
    • Figure 4 - is the sideways schematic view of the dryer relating to another embodiment of the present invention.
    • Figure 5 - is the perspective view of the dryer from another angle relating to an embodiment of the present invention.
    • Figure 6 - is the view of detail A in Figure 5.

  • The dryer (1) comprises a body (2); a tub (3) disposed inside the body (2) and wherein the items to be dried are placed; an air duct (4) that is situated on the body (2) and wherein the circulation of the process air (PA) that provides drying is realized; an opening (5) that is situated on the body (2) and that provides loading/unloading from the tub (3); a frame (6) that surrounds the opening (5), a housing (7) that is disposed on the frame (6) surface that faces the opening (5) and that extends into the air duct (4) and a lint filter (8) placed inside the housing (7) and separates the lint in the process air (PA).
  • In the dryer (1), the items desired to be dried are loaded into the tub (3) through the opening (5). The hot and dry process air (PA) that provides drying is delivered from the heat exchanger (not shown) onto the items desired to be dried and removes the humidity of the items. The process air (PA) that carries intensive moisture leaves the moisture by again passing over the heat exchanger and is heated to be delivered back into the tub (3). Meanwhile, the lints breaking off from the laundry to be dried mix into the process air (PA). The lint filter (8) is placed into the housing (7) on the radial surface of the frame (6). By almost completely closing preferably the entry of the housing (7), the lint filter (8) prevents the process air (PA) from bypassing the lint filter and moving towards the air duct (4). The process air (PA) leaving the tub is cleansed off of the lints therein by passing over the lint filter (8).
  • The dryer (1) of the present invention comprises a fragrance source (9) that is placed into the housing separately from the lint filter (8). Thus, the contact between the fragrance source (9) and the lints breaking off from the laundry is interrupted and the lints are prevented from sticking onto the fragrance source (9) and decreasing the rate of the fragrance diffusion. Moreover, the lint filter (8) can be easily cleaned since no fragrance source (9) is mounted thereon.
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the fragrance source (9) is placed into the housing (7) so as to be under the lint filter (8). Thus, the process air (PA) cleansed off of the lints therein passes over the fragrance source (9) and holes (not shown in the figures) on the fragrance source (9), through which the fragrance exits are prevented from clogging (Figure 3 and Figure 4).
  • In another embodiment of the present invention, the cross-sectional area of the housing (7) narrows from the upper surface of the frame (6) towards the air duct (4).
