Zur Herstellung vorkomprimierter Dichtungsbänder aus einem offenzelligen Kunststoff wird zunächst eine entsprechende Schaumstoffbahn auf einen hohlen Kern unter einer für die Vorkomprimierung ausreichenden Zugspannung aufgewickelt und die Komprimierung des gebildeten Wickels durch eine Ummantelung festgehalten. Die auf diese Weise hergestellte Mutterrolle wird dann in einzelne Vorratsrollen entsprechend der geforderten Bandbreite getrennt. Da beim Durchtrennen der Mutterrolle das Trennwerkzeug in die Trennfuge eindringt und dabei eine axiale Verdrängung der abgetrennten Windungen stattfindet, sind die von der Mutterrolle abgetrennten Vorratsrollen nicht eben, sondern weisen eine schüsselartige Wölbung auf, die aufgrund der durch die Vorkomprimierung der Dichtungsbänder wirksamen radialen Kräfte in Verbindung mit dem gegenseitigen axialen Versatz der Bandwindungen mit der Zeit verstärkt wird. Es werden daher die von der Mutterrolle abgetrennten Vorratsrollen vor ihrer Verpackung mit dem Ziel flachgedrückt, einem gegenseitigen axialen Versatz der Bandwindungen entgegenzuwirken und damit ein zu einer Wölbung der Vorratsrolle führendes randseitiges Aufweiten des Dichtungsbands zu unterbinden. Dieses Flachdrücken der von der Mutterrolle abgetrennten Vorratsrollen stellt jedoch einen zusätzlichen, den Herstellungsaufwand vergrößernden Bearbeitungsschritt dar. Dokument

Diese Wirkung hängt wohl damit zusammen, dass aufgrund der Zugfestigkeit der Deckfolien die Deckfolie auf der konkaven Seite der Vorratsrolle kaum gegen den Kernring der Vorratsrolle eingezogen werden kann, während die Deckfolie auf der gegenüberliegenden konvexen Vorratsseite wegen ihrer gegenüber der Deckfolie auf der konkaven Seite größeren Fläche innerhalb des Außenumfangs der Vorratsrolle durch den äußeren Luftdruck in den Kernring eingezogen wird und dabei auf den Bandwickel eine Kraft ausübt, die zu einem Flachdrücken der Vorratsrolle führt. Die Vorratsrolle wird dabei nicht nur flachgedrückt, sondern aufgrund der Vakuumverpackung innerhalb der gasdichten Hülle aus den beiden Deckfolien auch in dieser flachgedrückten Lage festgehalten, sodass nach einem Öffnen der Hülle eine Vorratsrolle aus einem vorkomprimierten Dichtungsband mit bündigen Bandwindungen zur Verfügung steht.As a result of these measures, when the vacuum chamber is ventilated, the cover films attach themselves to the supply roll, which is flattened in a surprising manner, without the need for additional external forces.
