Dressing apparatus according to claim 1, characterised in that, when the coupling is engaged, an axially movable coupling part (6 or 6') presses, by means of a compression spring (7 or 7'), on a coupling part (8 or 8') which is fixed to the coupleable roller (3; 3') and connects the coupleable roller (3; 3') to a coupling part (11 or 11') fixed to the drive shaft (4 or 4').

  4. Dressing apparatus according to either claim 2 or claim 3, characterised in that, by means of frictional engagement or toothing, the fixed coupling part (8 or 8') connects the coupleable roller (3; 3') to a coupling part (11 or 11') fixed to the drive shaft (4 or 4').

Dressing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 4, characterised in that the compression spring (7 or 7') acting on the movable coupling part (6 or 6') is supported on an abutment (10 or 10') which is axially secured on a stationary housing (9) and, when the coupling is engaged, rotates together with the coupleable roller (3 or 3') in the same way as the compression spring (7 or 7') and the moveable coupling part (6 or 6').
  6. Dressing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 5, characterised in that the axially movable coupling part (6 or 6') can be moved by means of cylinder-piston hydraulic units (12 or 12') supported on a stationary housing (9), the piston of which units engages, via axially movable connecting parts (13-16 or 13'-16'), with a tie rod (17 or 17') which engages with the axially movable coupling part (6 or 6') and is mounted on the stationary housing (9) so as to be axially movable and to not rotate together with the coupleable roller (3 or 3'), as a result of which the coupling disengages counter to the action of the compression spring (7 or 7').
  7. Dressing apparatus according to any of claims 1 to 6, characterised in that the rollers (2, 2', 3, 3') are profiled in order to adapt to the cross section of the wire (1 or 1') travelling through in each case.
