Abstract

The object of the present invention is to provide a package for particulate compositions containing fragrances, in particular for particulate detergents, which is environmentally friendly, easy to prepare and substantially impermeable to fragrances.

This object is solved by the features of claim 1.

According to the invention, the rear wall of the blister package containing the bar-shaped agent with perfumes is coated with a plastic material, in particular printed, to provide a scent block, thereby substantially preventing evaporation of the fragrances from the package.

In a particularly preferred embodiment, the consumer information located on the back wall are printed with water-soluble inks and the plastic layer preventing the leakage of perfumes from the packaging also coated in the form of an aqueous solution of water-soluble plastics, in particular printed or painted, so that the application of the consumer information and the scent-barrier layer can ultimately be made in a single step.

Due to the packaging according to the invention, the detergent itself can be offered unpacked, that is to say without the packaging directly surrounding the detergent as such.

The invention also relates to a method for producing a visual packaging with piece-shaped cleaning agents, wherein the Visual packaging comprises a molding for receiving the cleaning agent and a rear wall, which serves to close the molding on its back. The rear wall is now printed according to the invention with consumer information and with a coating or coating of water-soluble plastics and the molded part containing the detergent then connected to the printed back wall.

The molded part is preferably made of a plastic film substantially impermeable to perfumes, the shaping is preferably carried out by means of the thermoforming technique.

The connection between the molded part and the rear wall can be effected, for example, by bending the edges of the molded part around the cardboard back wall by heating the plastic or gluing, welding or clamping the cardboard back wall to the molded part. Preferably, the molded part is thermally welded to a sealant on the front of the cardboard back wall. In any case, this compound should also be impermeable to the fragrances.

It is particularly preferred that printing with the water-soluble plastics and printing with the consumer information can take place simultaneously. This saves a process step required in the prior art, namely the additional packing of the cleaning agent, since the formation of the scent barrier takes place simultaneously with the printing of the consumer information.

The thickness of the plastic layer is between 0.5 and 30 microns, preferably between 1 to 20 microns and more preferably smaller than 5 microns.

According to the invention, the plastic coating can be printed both on the front side, as well as on the back of the rear wall or on both sides.

In this case, the plastic coating may extend over the entire rear wall or cover the rear wall only partially. However, it should extend at least over the entire area of the back wall, which is covered by the molding.

The packaging 10 in FIG. 1 consists of a molded part 12, which is transparent and made of a plastic film, so that the consumer can see the present in the cavity in the mold part 12 piece-shaped cleaning agent 11.

Examination of perfume diffusion through different packaging

To check the tightness of the invention, on the rear wall 13 coated with a plastic material packaging 10 was on the back 17 of a rear wall 13, namely a so-called blister card, applied PVA paint and in this package 10 in a toilet bowl a Perfume-soaked sponge einlistert. The perfume used in each case was 3 g of "Black Current", available from Givaudan. PVA paint from DD Composite GmbH, Bad Liebenwerda was used. These samples were stored at room temperature or in different climatic cabinets at different temperatures, temperature jumps and humidities, and then determined at regular intervals, the total weight and an odor test carried out to check the perfume resistance under different conditions.

The application of the PVA paint on the back wall 13 was carried out with a brush, wherein the PVA paint was applied once, twice or three times. The amount of polyvinyl alcohol paint applied to the respective card was then determined by weighing and, taking into account a dry residue of the PVA paint of 8.7%, the theoretical coat thickness of the dried PVA coating was calculated. Thereafter, an application amount of 375 mg of PVA paint at the rear wall 13 corresponded to a layer thickness of 1.6 micrometers PVA.

In FIG. 2 is the mass of the blister pack with sponge shown as a function of time, the back wall 13 was not coated (curve B, "without PVA"), once (C), twice (D) or thrice (E) coated with PVA and the Sponge was soaked with 3 g of perfume at the start.

For comparison, the mass of the package 10 without PVA coating with sponge and without perfume is shown as curve A ("empty").

The curves A and B show uncoated back walls with sponge, in curve B the sponge was additionally soaked in perfume at "start". After just one week, the perfume content has dropped by about 18% and after two weeks, the perfume content has decreased by about 30%.

Thus, upon storage of a fragrance-containing rim block, the perfume content would decrease sharply shortly after preparation and the consumer would receive less perfumed or even odorless product in most cases.

However, comparing the decrease with the PVA lacquer one, two or three times coated back walls, it shows that the PVA lacquer is a barrier to the fragrances and the fragrances diffuse much slower from the packaging.

The measurement also shows that the diffusion of the fragrances can be slowed down with increasing layer thickness of the applied PVA lacquer.

Thus, with a single application of the PVA paint, the perfume concentration decreased to about 60% after a period of seven weeks, whereas with a three-time application of the PVA paint after seven weeks, about 80% of the fragrances were still contained in the packaging.

The above results obtained at room temperature coincided with the results obtained in the climatic chamber.

Examination of perfume diffusion through different packaging depending on the particular fragrance

In a second series of measurements, the diffusion of different perfume components (peak 1 to peak 13) through different packaging was investigated by gas chromatography.

First, a GC headspace of the used perfume "Black Current" was recorded and the retention times of the individual components 1 to 13 were determined.

For the subsequent tests, packaging without coating the back wall "uncoated card", with back wall with paint coating on the back 17 "paint coating behind", with back wall with paint coating on the front 16 "paint coating front" and with a 20 micromete thick PVA Foil coated back panel "PVA film" used and stored in these packages, as described in experiment 1, a perfume oil soaked sponge.

The test results are summarized in Table 1.

The measurements were made after 0, 24, 192 and 672 hours, respectively Gas chromatogram of the permeated through the packaging and collected in a perfume-tight bag gas mixture and integrated the peak areas of the individual components 1 to 13 of the perfume oil.

In the case of the uncoated card, the maximum concentration of the transmitted most volatile component 1 is already reached after 24 hours, whereas within the framework of the measured values, the maximum of the passage of the component in the case of the packaging coated at the rear takes place only after 192 hours.

In the case of the least volatile component 13, it can be seen that all coatings significantly reduce the passage, because of the low volatility, no maximum value is detectable in any of the packagings measured.

Table 2 shows the factor for improving the diffusion barrier to the uncoated back wall calculated from the values in Table 1.

With the coated back walls, a significant delay in the diffusion of fragrances from blister packs can be achieved.

It turns out that volatile substances diffuse out of the packaging much faster than more volatile substances.

The diffusion behavior and thus the escape of fragrances from the packaging is considerably better in the case of the coated cards than with the uncoated back walls. Depending on whether the particular component of the fragrance mixture is more or less volatile, the PVA lacquer-coated backwells with a calculated average layer thickness of 1.6 micrometers can improve the diffusion barrier effect by a factor of 2 to 4 compared to an uncoated back wall be achieved, cf. Table 2.

The comparison between a coating of the rear wall (blister card) on the front 16 and back 17 shows that a greater delay of the passage is obtained when the coating on the Front side 16 of the rear wall 13 is applied.

The greatest diffusion delay measured in the coating with the 20 micron thick PVA film is the much higher layer thickness compared to the applied PVA lacquer layers.
