Description
- The invention relates to military technology, namely to recoilless guns and can be used in armament systems for shootings on ground and air targets.
- Object of the invention is a device being a thermal impulse machine, which provides for an increased firing range and that minimizes a recoil impulse due to a constructive solution that includes a two-stage scheme of throwing shells, prepared damaging elements, other product mix necessary for solving various challenges including civil use.
- Known are recoilless guns, containing a counterrecoil device that basically represents a hydraulic shock absorber [1].
- One of the drawbacks of such devices is that they are constructively complex, cumbersome and unreliable during long-term operation.
- Document
US 4,676,136 refers to an apparatus for recoilless firing of projectiles from a launching tube comprises within the launching tube a forward brake ring, a forward sabot, a propellant charge with an ignition element or screw, a rear sabot, a counter-mass, and a rear brake ring, arranged within the launching tube in the sequence listed. Upon ignition of the propellant charge, high acceleration forces are created by the ensuing high peak pressures, which consequently requires a robust construction. In order to avoid this drawback, according to the invention the aforementioned disadvantage can be eliminated by using a propellant charge comprising a first cylindrical propellant charge body and a second annular propellant charge body which surrounds this first cylindrical propellant charge body. - The closest to the invention is the recoilless gun containing a gun tube with a breech, the rear end of which is provided with a nozzle orifice, and balancing weight placed in the channel of the gun tube between the propellant charge and the rear end of the breech [2].
- The task of the proposed invention is the creation of a recoilless gun of an increased firing range with minimal recoil.
- The mentioned technical result in the proposed device is achieved by using a two-stage scheme of throwing, characteristics of the shell construction and the presence of a counterweight.
- The new combination of components allows due to:
- An electrical or other initiator - to provide for the initiation of the starting propellant charge;
- The starting propellant charge - to provide an initial impulse to the shell and a subsequent initiation of a propellant charge of the shell;
- The case of the shell and of a piston comprising a piston rod and a piston head at the breech portion of the gun tube, the piston rod hermetically entering the shell case, while the piston head rests on the counterweight - to provide an initial impulse to the shell and subsequent initiation of a propellant charge of the shell;
- The piston head of the piston and the counterweight - to provide for a reduction of the recoil impulse of the starting propellant charge and of the impulse due to an increase of pressure due to the flow of gases of the propellant charge of the shell;
- The propellant charge - to provide the initial exiting speed of the projectile or of the prepared damaging elements;
- The projectile or the prepared damaging elements - to provide realization of the basic task of the gun or the system using it according to its predestination;
- The gun tube - to provide an impulse effect on the shell, the counterweight and the firing in a particular direction along the axis of the gun tube.
- The main idea of the invention is described in the drawing (
fig. 1 ), which shows one of the possible technical solutions. - The recoilless gun (
fig. 1-a ) consists of agun tube 1, ashell 2, acounterweight 3, an electric orother initiator 4 and a startingpropellant charge 5. - The shell (
fig. 1-b ) consists in turn of acase 6 including a projectile or prepareddamaging element 7 and apropellant charge 8, a piston representing apiston rod 9 provided at the breech portion of the gun tube with apiston head 10, thepiston rod 9 hermetically entering the shell case, while thepiston head 10 rests on the counterweight. - Shooting from the recoilless gun occurs as follows (
fig. 2 ). - When operating the initiator 4 (
fig. 2-a ) the subsequent initiation of the startingpropellant charge 5 activates a movement of theshell case 6 and of thepiston piston counterweight 3 for compensating the recoil impulse (fig. 2-b ), thereby the exit of thepiston rod 9 of the piston from theshell case 6 allows gases of the startingpropellant charge 5 to penetrate into theshell case 6 through an opened after the exit of the piston orifice of transmission of the detonation time and to initiate thepropellant charge 8 of the shell (fig. 2-c ) which in turn, causes the increase of pressure in order to obtain the initial exiting speed of the projectile or the prepared damaging elements 7 (fig. 2-d ), whereby the additional recoil impulse is compensated by the inertia of the progressive -motion of theshell case 6 in the direction of the shell, by the inertia and the gas pressure of the starting propellant charge and the flow of gases in the area of lower pressure through the orifice of transmission of the detonation time into theshell case 6, causing an acceleration of motion of thepiston fig. 2-e ). - Therefore, the proposed invention allows to provide an increased firing range and a minimal recoil impulse by a constructive solution, that includes a two-stage scheme of throwing shells or prepared damaging elements, thereby being simple in terms of technology, that determines it's low costs in mass production and high "efficiency-costs" performance when solving problems according to predestination.
