For five runs at different experimental conditions the concentrations of injected urea, hydrogen peroxide, and water in the gas stream were calculated, NO concentrations in the inlet and outlet gas stream were measured and NO reduction was determined.

  • the aqueous reagent solution 2 contains 6.4 wt. % urea and 3.6 wt. % hydrogen peroxide (providing a mole ratio of 1 : 1 ureaiH ⁇ C ⁇ in the reagent solution) and is prepared (not shown in Figure 8) by dissolution of appropriate amounts of solid carbamide peroxide in water.
  • the aqueous reagent solution 2 containing water and carbamide peroxide is introduced into the flue gas stream 1 via a set of injection nozzles (not shown in Figure 8) that spray and disperse the solution into the hot flue gas stream in the SNCR reaction apparatus A.
  • Sufficient aqueous reagent solution 2 is introduced into the flue gas stream 1 in the SNCR reactor A to provide 2 moles of urea per mole NO in the flue gas stream.

  • the reduction reaction of the urea - hydrogen peroxide reagent solution 2 with ⁇ in the flue gas steam 1 in the SNCR reactor A reduces the NO content of the flue gas stream 2, producing N 2 , CO 2 and water in the flue gas stream 3 that exits the SNCR reactor A.

  • the SOx-containing flue gas stream 4 exiting from the ESP operation B is next subjected to a wet scrubbing desulfurization procedure (not shown in Figure 8) to reduce its SO2 and SO3 content before the flue gas stream 4 is vented to the atmosphere.
  • Wet desulfurization scrubbing operations using an alkali such as lime, limestone or soda ash, are well known procedures for desulfurizing SOx-containing flue gas streams.
