Abstract
Description
- The present invention relates to a laundry washing and drying machine comprising an air-cooled condenser.
- In laundry washing and drying machines, in the drying process after washing, the use of air-cooled condensers which realize the condensation process by being cooled with the outside environment air is known. The humid air that comes from over the laundry and passes through the processing air duct is condensed in the condenser cooled by means of the outside environment air, thus the air that is dried by being dehumidified is delivered again onto the laundry through the processing air duct. The condenser is placed vertically at the rear side or horizontally at the upper side of the washing tub so that water and foam are not collected therein during the washing process. In the air-cooled condensers, the cold air circulation providing condensation is open looped, the cooling air received from the outside environment is passed through the condenser and discharged to the outside environment again. In the situation the laundry washing and drying machine is placed under the counter or inside a cabinet, the fronts of the air inlets and outlets are closed and realizing the cooling air cycle becomes difficult. The cooling air duct, through which the cooling air passes, is designed with curved configuration due to the tub, the motor and other components contained inside the machine body and the path traversed inside the body by the cooling air increases. The cooling air heats up since the path traversed inside the body prior to and after the condenser is long and curved, the friction in the cooling air duct increases and loss in the pressure and flow rate occurs, thereby laundry drying efficiency decreases since the condenser cannot be cooled sufficiently.
- The United States Patent No. US4489507 relates to a drying apparatus comprising an air-cooled heat exchanger.
- In the European Patent Application No. EP0254018, a laundry drying machine is explained wherein the condenser is mounted in the upper part of the drum and the condensate is collected in a receptacle situated in the front loading cover with the gravity effect.
- In the European Patent Application No. EP1584734, a condensing type clothes dryer is explained that comprises a heat exchanger integrated to the work top covering the upper part of the body.
- The aim of the present invention is the realization of a laundry washing and drying machine wherein the condensation efficiency of the air-cooled condenser is improved.
- The laundry washing and drying machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises an air-cooled condenser disposed at the upper side of the tub and the cooling air received from the outside environment is passed through the condenser in order to condense the processing air passed over the laundry in the drying process.
- The cooling air is sucked from an inlet opening situated at the upper part of the machine body front wall by means of a fan and delivered to the condenser via the cooling air duct.
- The cooling air leaving the condenser is discharged to the outside environment from the outlet opening situated at the upper side of the body rear wall by passing through the cooling air duct.
- The cooling air fan is situated just behind the inlet opening, the cooling air duct extends from the fan to the condenser and from the condenser to the outlet opening horizontally and straightly without making turns and the cooling air is provided to traverse a minimum distance inside the body without suffering loss in pressure or flow rate and without heating up. Thus, condensation effectiveness is increased by accelerating the cooling of the condenser.
- In an embodiment of the present invention, an extension is disposed at the rear side of the upper plate covering the top side of the machine body, that prevents the components like the valve, hose from bearing against the wall and the outlet opening opens to the outside environment just below this extension. Thus, the cooling air is provided to be discharged freely to the outside environment from the rear wall of the machine body.
- In another embodiment of the present invention, a bend is arranged between the inlet opening and the fan situated just therebehind, through which the cooling air duct extends curvilinearly and thus the fan cannot be seen from the inlet opening. The inlet opening is covered by a front protector, furthermore a rear protector is disposed inside the bend, at the front side of the fan, thereby increasing safety by preventing the user from accessing the fan through the inlet opening.
- The inlet opening is situated at the upper side of the body front wall, on the wide triangular section between the control panel and the loading door. The edge of the inlet opening facing the loading door is curvilinear in shape and parallel to the outer side of the loading door. In the laundry washing and drying machine of the present invention, an area on the body front wall that is not used in conventional embodiments is utilized for forming the inlet opening.
- In the laundry washing and drying machine of the present invention, the distance and bends traversed by the cooling air inside the body is decreased by means of the cooling air duct, and heating and pressure/flow rate losses are prevented. The condenser is provided to be cooled effectively and laundry drying duration is decreased.
- The laundry washing and drying machine realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
