Definitions
- the present invention relates to a die for producing lever arms/clips for sports footwear starting from an aluminium extruded profile provided with extrusion holes.
- Lever arms are known obtained by injection moulding in an aluminium or magnesium die.
- Lever arms are also known obtained by extruding an aluminium bar already provided with holes, which is cut by a sawing machine to form individual lever arms with bevelled cavities and edges.
- Lever arms are also known in which the holes for the hinge pins are obtained firstly by forming U-shaped seats and then bringing their ends into contact.
- EP 2 550 888 relates to a method for manufacturing a component of a lever for a closing buckle, comprising the following steps: manufacturing, by means of extrusion of an aluminium alloy billet, an extruded profile extending in a plane XY and provided with at least two ribs suitable for defining a groove.
- An object of the invention is to eliminate the drawbacks present jointly and individually in known lever arm production dies such as to produce such levers in an easy and comfort manner.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a die which enables an extruded profile already provided with holes to be processed without deforming them during processing.
- the die for producing lever arms/clips comprises a die plate 2 shaped in accordance with the lower profile of the extruded profile 18, and a sheet-metal hold-down element 4 provided with grooves into which punches 6, 8, 10, 12 respectively (shown in front and perspective view in Figures 2-9 ) are inserted.
- the punch 6 has a cross-section suitable to realize the U-shaped portion inside the lever arm, and lowerly has its cutting surface provided with two recesses 14, 14' of distance apart equal to the distance between the holes 16, 16' of the extruded profile 18 into which the pins are inserted for hinging the arm 20 to the fork 22 and the puller 24 to the arm 20 respectively.
- the distance between the near edges of the two recesses 14, 14' corresponds to the distance between the edges of the holes 16, 16'.
- the lower cutting surface of the punch 8 has the same characteristics as the cutting surface of the punch 6.
- the punch 10 has the same cross-section as the punch 6 and has its lower cutting surface 24 shaped as the upper surface of the extruded profile 18, and is also provided with two downwardly projecting appendices 26, 26' having their distance between axes corresponding to the distance between the holes 16, 16' of the extruded profile 18.
- the punch 12 has a cross-section suitable for forming the two half-edges of the lever arm 20 and has the shape of its cutting surface 28 corresponding to the upper surface of the extruded profile 18, it also comprising two downwardly projecting appendices 30, 30' having their distance apart corresponding to the distance between the appendices 26, 26'.
- the die according to the invention operates as follows.
- the aluminium extrusion 18 is positioned on the die plate 2 and the sheet-metal hold-down element 4 is then lowered so that the extrusion is firmly locked.
- a power hammer (not shown in the drawings) is lowered such that the active lower end of the punches 6, 8, 10, 12 interferes with the extrusion.
- the following operations are repeatedly implemented by the punches:
Description
- The present invention relates to a die for producing lever arms/clips for sports footwear starting from an aluminium extruded profile provided with extrusion holes.
- Lever arms are known obtained by injection moulding in an aluminium or magnesium die.
- These known arms however are of large thickness compared with levers obtained by extrusion.
- Lever arms are also known obtained by extruding an aluminium bar already provided with holes, which is cut by a sawing machine to form individual lever arms with bevelled cavities and edges.
- These known levers have however a low production capacity.
- Lever arms are also known in which the holes for the hinge pins are obtained firstly by forming U-shaped seats and then bringing their ends into contact.
-
EP 2 550 888 - An object of the invention is to eliminate the drawbacks present jointly and individually in known lever arm production dies such as to produce such levers in an easy and comfort manner.
- Another object of the invention is to provide a die which enables an extruded profile already provided with holes to be processed without deforming them during processing.
- These objects are attained according to the invention by a die for producing lever arms/clips starting from an aluminium extruded profile provided with extrusion holes, as described in claim 1.
- The present invention is clarified hereinafter in terms of a preferred embodiment and a modified embodiment thereof, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which:
-
Figure 1 is an exploded perspective view of a lever arm obtained with the die according to the invention, -
Figures 2, 3 ,4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, 9 show respectively in frontal and perspective view the punches used in a first die according to the invention, -
Figure 10 is a perspective view of the die according to the invention shown open, and -
Figure 11 shows it closed. - As can be seen from the figures, the die for producing lever arms/clips according to the invention comprises a
die plate 2 shaped in accordance with the lower profile of theextruded profile 18, and a sheet-metal hold-downelement 4 provided with grooves into which punches 6, 8, 10, 12 respectively (shown in front and perspective view inFigures 2-9 ) are inserted. In particular, thepunch 6 has a cross-section suitable to realize the U-shaped portion inside the lever arm, and lowerly has its cutting surface provided with tworecesses 14, 14' of distance apart equal to the distance between theholes 16, 16' of theextruded profile 18 into which the pins are inserted for hinging thearm 20 to thefork 22 and thepuller 24 to thearm 20 respectively. - The distance between the near edges of the two
recesses 14, 14' corresponds to the distance between the edges of theholes 16, 16'. - The lower cutting surface of the
punch 8 has the same characteristics as the cutting surface of thepunch 6. - The
punch 10 has the same cross-section as thepunch 6 and has itslower cutting surface 24 shaped as the upper surface of theextruded profile 18, and is also provided with two downwardly projectingappendices 26, 26' having their distance between axes corresponding to the distance between theholes 16, 16' of theextruded profile 18. - The
punch 12 has a cross-section suitable for forming the two half-edges of thelever arm 20 and has the shape of itscutting surface 28 corresponding to the upper surface of theextruded profile 18, it also comprising two downwardly projectingappendices 30, 30' having their distance apart corresponding to the distance between theappendices 26, 26'. - The die according to the invention operates as follows.
- The
aluminium extrusion 18 is positioned on thedie plate 2 and the sheet-metal hold-downelement 4 is then lowered so that the extrusion is firmly locked. - A power hammer (not shown in the drawings) is lowered such that the active lower end of the
punches - the
punch 6 punches the zone between theholes 16 and 16' and cuts the extrusion portion such as to define twoseats 32, 32' which constitute a partial undercut zone for the future insertion of thepuller 24, - the
punch 8 acts such as to form twochannels 34, 34' between the twoholes 16, 16', - the
punch 10 cuts a further extrusion portion to form theU-shaped seat 36 of thepuller 24, - the
punch 12 with theappendices 30, 30' cuts theportion 38 previously remaining between thecavities 34, 34' and the portion which embraces thehole 16, and then cuts theextrusion portion 18 to give thelever arm 20 the desired shape. - In the illustrated embodiments, reference is always made to a die for a lever arm. It is apparent that the same die and the same punches (of suitably modified dimensions) can be used to form clips in that, again in this case, the problem solved is that of not deforming the holes during pressing.
