The invention more particularly relates to a cleaning device for a spray gun having a fluid inlet to be sprayed, said paint inlet, an outlet of said fluid to be sprayed, a pressurized gas inlet and an outlet of said pressurized gas. Said cleaning device comprises a support frame, a fluid supply head carried by said frame and connectable to said gun paint inlet, and a fluid and gas receiving system. The fluid and gas receiving system includes, on the one hand, a fluid receiving nozzle having an inlet-connectable fluid passageway with the spray fluid outlet of the gun, and outputting to the fluid collection means. sprayed fluid, and, secondly, an inlet gas outlet conduit connectable with the gas outlet of said gun.

The output of said spray fluid from the gun corresponds to the output of paint when the gun is used to spray paint.

It is known from the state of the art, and in particular from the document WO2010 / 116070 A2 a cleaning device according to the preamble of claim 1. In this cleaning device, the feed head and the receiving system are positioned relative to one another so that they can be connected at the same time respectively to the spray gun paint inlet and the spray gun paint outlet.

The document cleaning device WO2010 / 116070 A2 allows cleaning and then drying a gun without disconnecting the gun from said device.

The mobility of up and down of the fluid supply head of the document cleaning device WO2010 / 116070 A2 also allows to position some guns, of different sizes, whose paint entries are located at different distances along the axis of the outlet of the feed head.

However, it is found that other types of guns can not be reliably positioned in this cleaning device known in the state of the art. In particular, this cleaning device does not make it possible to simultaneously connect the inlet of the paint orifice of the gun to the outlet of the feed head, and the paint outlet of the gun at the inlet of the nozzle of the system. for receiving pistols whose distances between the paint entry and the paint outlet, taken in projection, along the axis of the paint entry, on the axis of the paint outlet, are different. In a simplified manner, it may be considered that these guns which are not compatible with the cleaning device known from the state of the art, are pistols that have different lengths of gun relative to a gun reference point corresponding to the projected the entrance of paint, along its axis, on the axis of the paint outlet.

The axis of the output, respectively of the entry, of paint of the gun corresponds to the axis perpendicular to the mean plane passing through the outlet of the outlet, respectively of the entry, paint gun.

The present invention aims to provide a cleaning device for easily and reliably position in said cleaning device pistols with different barrel lengths.

The invention also aims to allow the cleaning in a reliable and easy manner pistols whose outer diameter of the barrel is small.

For this purpose, the subject of the invention is a cleaning device as described in the introduction, characterized in that said fluid-receiving nozzle is movably mounted relative to the support frame in a direction substantially parallel to the axis. the inlet of the fluid passage of the fluid receiving nozzle, between a position close to the fluid supply head and a position spaced from said fluid supply head.

The mobility of the fluid receiving nozzle makes it possible to position, inside the cleaning device according to the invention, pistols which have different lengths of barrel. In particular, the mobility of the nozzle allows it to move along an axis substantially parallel to the axis of the paint outlet of the gun, when that is applied against the inlet of the nozzle of the receiving system, possibly by the An adapter is described in detail below, which allows the receiving system to absorb an extra length of the gun barrel relative to another gun of shorter barrel length.

Thanks to the device according to the invention, it is thus possible to simultaneously connect the painting inlet of the gun to the fluid supply head, and the paint outlet of the gun at the inlet of the nozzle of the receiving system, for pistols having different lengths of barrel, that is to say for pistols whose distances between the entry of paint and the exit of paint, taken in projection, according to the axis of the entry of painting, on the axis of the paint outlet, are different.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the fluid and gas receiving system comprises a fixed body relative to the frame in which is formed a housing inside which the fluid receiving nozzle is slidably mounted.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the reception system comprises anti-rotation means of the receiving nozzle with respect to the housing within which said receiving nozzle is slidably mounted.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, said device comprises means for elastic return of the receiving nozzle in a position close to said fluid supply nozzle.

The elastic return of the nozzle in the close position makes it possible to maintain the inlet of the nozzle bearing directly or indirectly against the exit of the gun.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, the reception system comprises, on the one hand, a gas reception chamber in which at least partially extends the receiving nozzle and into which the inlet of the evacuation duct opens out. of gas, and, secondly, a sealing member adapted to delimit with the outer peripheral wall of the receiving nozzle and in cooperation with the barrel of the gun, in the state supported by the barrel of the pistol against the organ sealing, a sealed communication space between the inlet of the gas exhaust duct and the gas outlet of the gun.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, said sealing member is able to slide inside the gas reception chamber in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of sliding of the receiving nozzle between a close position of the duct. gas discharge and a position spaced from said gas exhaust duct.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, said sealing member is biased by biasing means against an internal peripheral stop provided at the end of the chamber situated on the side of the inlet of the fluid passage of the receiving nozzle. .

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, said sealing member is able to swivel inside said gas reception chamber.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, said tubular-type sealing member has a peripheral wall, which extends through the internal peripheral stop of the gas-receiving chamber, said peripheral wall of the body of the sealing defining an aperture adapted to be connected to the gun gas outlet to allow tight communication between the gun gas outlet and the volume defined between the outer peripheral wall of the gas receiving chamber and the receiving nozzle of the gun; fluid, in the applied state of the gun against the sealing member.

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, said peripheral wall of the sealing member is extended, on the inside of the chamber, by a shoulder adapted to abut against said internal peripheral stop provided at the end of the chamber. .

According to an advantageous characteristic of the invention, for a pistol whose outer peripheral wall of the barrel is of dimension less than the dimension of the opening delimited by the sealing member, said device comprises a reportable adapter on the end of the sealing member. Said adapter comprises a wall in which is formed a first through passage, preferably central, able to ensure communication between the fluid outlet of the gun and the inlet of the fluid passage of the receiving nozzle, in the applied state of the pistol against the adapter. A second through passage is also provided in said wall and is adapted to ensure communication between the gas outlet of the gun and the volume defined between the peripheral wall of the chamber and the receiving nozzle, in the applied state of the pistol against the 'adapter. Said wall of the adapter has, in the attached state of the adapter on the sealing member, a concave surface, for example conical, concavity oriented on the opposite side to the receiving nozzle.

Said wall of the adapter reduces the opening of said sealing member so that, in the applied state of the pistol against the adapter, on the one hand, the exit spray gun fluid communicates tightly with the inlet of the fluid receiving nozzle and, on the other hand, the gun gas outlet communicates tightly with the gas discharge conduit.

This adapter makes it possible to obtain a good seal of the gas reception chamber which ensures the communication between the fluid outlet of the gun and the gas evacuation duct. Thus, the gas which is expelled by the fluid outlet of the gun and which passes through the corresponding openings of the adapter is discharged through the gas evacuation duct of the receiving system and not between the sealed sealing member. partially in said gas receiving chamber, and the outer casing of the gun barrel, also called hat, as would be the case in the absence of such an adapter.

As mentioned above, the cleaning device 1, object of the invention, comprises a support frame 2 delimiting a cleaning volume, such as an enclosure, adapted to receive at least partially a spray gun 26 to be cleaned.

Un conduit interne relie l'entrée 27 de peinture à la sortie 29 de peinture du pistolet 26.The spray gun 26 comprises in particular an inlet 27 for spraying fluid, said entry 27 of paint, whose axis is noted A27, and a fluid outlet 29, called paint outlet, whose axis is noted A29. An inner conduit connects the paint inlet 27 to the paint outlet 29 of the gun 26.

Such a gun further comprises a gas inlet 31 connectable to a gas supply source, such as compressed air. This inlet 31 of air allows, in particular, to help the paint to flow from the paint inlet 27 to the fluid outlet 29 and to be ejected from said gun during actuation of the gun trigger. This air inlet 31 also serves to supply a gas outlet 30 of the gun for adjusting the shape of the fluid flow. Generally, the gas outlet of the gun is formed of a plurality of outlet orifices, preferably radial and so-called pressurized gas outlet, which serve to regulate the shape of the flow of paint coming from the axial outlet.

In the example illustrated in the figures, the gas outlet 30 is formed with outlet orifices disposed around the axial outlet 29 of the gun 26. When the spray gun 26 is used to paint, a paint bucket (not shown) is connected to the entrance 27 of painting. The paint then exits through said axial outlet 29.

As illustrated in figure 1 , the frame 2 support carries a feed head 3 fluid having a supply nozzle 5 to be connected to the paint inlet 27 of the spray gun 26 to be cleaned.

The supply nozzle 5 is coupled to the frame 2 of the cleaning device 1 by a nozzle holder 50. The nozzle holder 50 has the shape of a tubular body of vertical axis equipped, at its lower end, with the nozzle 5 and open at its upper end to form an opening for introducing a source of cleaning fluid, such as an aerosol container, into said nozzle holder 50.

The nozzle holder 50 is movable relative to the frame 2 in a rising and falling movement. Thus, to position the supply nozzle and the receiving system 14 respectively at said paint inlet 27 and at the spray gun outlet 29, it is possible to adjust the height of the supply nozzle 5 for adapt to the height of the paint inlet 27 of the gun, and absorb an extra length of the barrel 260 of the gun 26 through the mobility of the receiving nozzle 15 detailed below, which allows to connect to the nozzle 5 and to the system 14 for receiving pistols of different sizes, as illustrated more particularly by the Figures 3 to 5 .

The guns may differ in the dimensions of the paint entry, the size of the outlet, the distance, and the relative orientation between the paint entry and the gun outlet.

The cleaning device comprises a fluid and gas receiving system 14 intended to be connected to the outlets 29 and 30 of the gun 26. In order to be able to separate the fluid ejected at the outlet 29 and coming from the inlet 27 of the gun, ejected gas by the outlet 30 of said gun from the gas inlet 31, the receiving system 14 comprises, on the one hand, a receiving nozzle 15 having an inlet-connectable fluid passage 150 with the outlet 29 of the fluid to be sprayed. gun, and connected at the output 152 to means 16 for collecting the sprayed fluid, and, secondly, a conduit 47 for discharging the gas connectable input with the gas outlet 30 of said gun 26 via a recovery chamber 185 detailed below. Said gas outlet duct 43 opens at an outlet in a zone, called the gas evacuation zone, distinct from the means 16 for collecting the flow of sprayed fluid.

When it is desired to clean it, the spray gun 26 is connected to the cleaning device 1. More specifically, the paint bucket is removed and the paint inlet 27 is connected to the feed nozzle 5 of the head 3. 'food. The paint outlet 29 and the gas outlet 30 are applied against the receiving system 14 to be connected respectively to the inlet 151 of the fluid receiving nozzle and to the inlet of the gas discharge duct, by means of FIG. intermediate of a gas reception chamber 185 as detailed below.

An embodiment of the feed head 3 and the frame 2 is described in detail in the patent application. WO2010050603 .

The feed head 3 comprises a feed nozzle 5 provided with at least two independent fluid supply inlets. Said inlets each have a distinct outlet in the conduit of said feed nozzle. The said inlets are connectable to one source of cleaning fluid and the other to a source of compressed air.

Thus, in the connected state of the inlet of the supply nozzle to its respective fluid source, during the cleaning phase, the cleaning fluid feeds the inlet nozzle 5 via an inlet and passes successively through the paint inlet 27, the inner duct, and the axial outlet 29 of the paint gun.

During the drying phase, compressed air feeds the feed nozzle, through the other inlet of the feed nozzle, and passes successively through the paint inlet 27, the inner conduit, and the outlet. 29 axis of the gun. This drying makes it possible to evacuate the cleaning product remaining in the internal conduit of the gun between inlet 27 and axial outlet 29 of said gun.

The feed head 3 is disposed at or near the top of the frame and therefore extends substantially above the gun in the infeed state of the gun into the cleaning volume.

Said receiving nozzle 15 is mounted movably relative to the support frame 2, in a direction substantially parallel to the axis A15 of the inlet 151 of the fluid passage 150 of the receiving nozzle 15, between a position close to the head 3 fluid supply and a position spaced from said head 3 of fluid supply.

In other words, for a given position of the feed nozzle 5, the distance, projected on said inlet axis 15 of the receiving nozzle 15, between the inlet 151 of the receiving nozzle 15 in close position and the outlet of the feed nozzle 5 is smaller than the projected distance on said axis A15 between the inlet 151 of the receiving nozzle 15 in the spaced-apart position and the outlet of the feed nozzle 5 in said position spaced from said receiving nozzle 15.

The axis A15 of the inlet 151 of the fluid passage 150 of the receiving nozzle 15 corresponds to an axis orthogonal to the mean plane passing through the mouth of the inlet 151 of the fluid passage 150. In the example illustrated in the figures, said axis coincides with the axis of the nozzle 15.

The mobility of the spray fluid receiving nozzle 15 thus makes it possible to simultaneously connect the paint inlet 27 of the gun 26 to the fluid supply head 5 and the paint outlet 29 of the gun to the inlet 151 of the nozzle of the reception system 14, for pistols having different gun lengths, that is to say for pistols whose distances between the entry 27 of paint and the exit 29 of paint, taken in projection, along the axis A27 of the entrance 27, on the axis A29 of the exit 29 of paint, are different.

The receiving system 14 comprises a body 40 fixed relative to the frame 2 in which is formed a housing 405 inside which the receiving nozzle 15 is slidably mounted. A duct 45 is formed in the body 40 of the receiving system 14. One end of the conduit 45 opens into the housing 405 inside which the receiving nozzle 15 is slidably mounted and the other end of said conduit is connected via the pipe 4 to the fluid collection tank 16.

Ledit corps de buse 158 est monté dans ledit logement 405.In particular, said receiving nozzle 15 comprises a cylindrical body 158 to which is coupled a nozzle head 159 at the free end of which opens said inlet 151 150 passage of fluid. Said nozzle body 158 is mounted in said housing 405.

Autrement dit, le flux de fluide sortant de la sortie axiale 29 du pistolet 26 est isolé du flux de gaz sortant de la sortie 30 de gaz du pistolet 26.Said receiving nozzle 15 is, in the state connected with said axial outlet 29, able to prevent any action of the gas coming from the gas outlets 30 on the flow of fluid coming from the axial outlet 29. In other words, the flow of fluid leaving the axial outlet 29 of the gun 26 is isolated from the flow of gas leaving the gas outlet 30 of the gun 26.

As illustrated more particularly in Figures 2 and 2A , the receiving system 14 comprises anti-rotation means 156, 157 of the receiving nozzle 15 with respect to the housing 405 inside which said nozzle receiving 15 is slidably mounted. Said anti-rotation means 156, 157 comprise a groove 156 formed in the cylindrical body of the receiving nozzle 15 in a direction substantially parallel to the direction of sliding of the receiving nozzle 15 and a pin 157 integral with the housing body which extends in said groove (perpendicularly) to the axis of the groove.

Said device 1 comprises elastic return means 155 of the receiving nozzle 15 in a position close to said fluid supply nozzle 3. Said elastic return means 155 of the receiving nozzle 15 comprise an elastic member, such as a spring, one end of which is integral with the housing 405 of the receiving system 14 and the opposite end of which is integral with the receiving nozzle 15 .

The receiving system 14 also comprises a gas reception chamber 185 in which at least partially extends the receiving nozzle 15 and into which the inlet of the gas evacuation conduit 47 opens. Said receiving chamber 185 houses a sealing member 19 able to delimit with the outer peripheral wall of the receiving nozzle 15 and in cooperation with the outer peripheral wall of the gun barrel 260, in the state of the gun barrel against the sealing member 19, a sealed annular space for communication between the inlet of the gas discharge pipe 47 and the gas outlet 30 of the gun 26. In particular, the sealing member 19 defines a suitable opening to be connected to the gas outlet 30 of the gun to allow tight communication between the gas outlet 30 of the gun and the volume defined between the peripheral wall of the chamber 185 and the receiving nozzle 15.

Said sealing member 19 is loaded by a spring 192 and forms a swivel ring as detailed below.

The gas evacuation pipe 47 is connectable at the inlet with the outlet 30 of said gun, through said sealing member 19 detailed below. The exhaust duct 47 opens at an outlet in an area called the gas evacuation zone distinct from the means 16 for collecting the stream of sprayed fluid in order to evacuate the gases from the gun in an evacuation zone.

The inlet of the gas discharge conduit 47 opens into the space defined between the wall of the ring 18 and the receiving nozzle 15.

The sealing member 19 comprises a peripheral wall 190 of diameter slightly smaller than the internal diameter of the ring 18. Said peripheral wall 190 of the sealing member 19 is extended, on the inside of the chamber 185, by a shoulder 191 adapted to abut against an internal radial stop 181 formed at the end of the chamber 185. The sealing member 19 can slide along the ring 18 between a compressed position of the spring 192 and a return position of the sealing member 19 against said inner radial stop 181 formed at the free end of the ring 18, wherein said sealing member 19 is recalled.

Advantageously, the peripheral wall 190 of said sealing member 19 has a convex outer peripheral surface for swiveling around the nozzle 15 for receiving fluid, and thus making it possible to ensure a good seal of the communication passage between the gas outlet 30 of the gun and the exhaust pipe 47 of gas and the communication passage between the outlet 29 of the gun and the inlet 151 of the receiving nozzle when the gun 26 needs to be slightly inclined with respect to the axis of the nozzle for connecting the paint inlet 27 to the feed nozzle 5 and the axial outlet 29 to the inlet 151 of the receiving nozzle.

As the member or seal 19 seals with the barrel of the gun, clean air leaving the outlet 30 and from the inlet 31 of the gun, is forced to evacuate through the conduit of evacuation 47 of gas and is brought into the atmosphere so that the volume of fluid to be treated collected in the collection means is less than in the state of the art.

The peripheral wall 190 of the sealing member extends, in the return state of the sealing member 19 against the internal radial abutment 181, projecting from said internal radial abutment 181. The protrusion of the sealing member allows, depending on the type of gun, to ensure that the gun 260 of the gun 26 bears first on the sealing member 19 before the paint outlet 29 of the gun is in support on the nozzle 15, which provides a good seal of the space defined between the sealing member 19, the ring 18 and the nozzle 15, which communicates with the connecting pipe 47. In addition, the protruding from the sealing member 19 allows as illustrated more particularly to the figure 5 to set up and maintain an adapter 8 for mini-gun on said peripheral wall 190 of the sealing member 19.

The figure 3 illustrates the case of the positioning of a given gun length gun in the cleaning device according to the invention. The paint inlet 27 is connected to the outlet of the feed head 3 and the outlet 29 of the gun is aligned with the inlet 151 of the receiving nozzle 15 by bearing contact of the gun barrel against the nozzle 15 receiving which can move back to a given position due to its sliding mobility to allow the gun to be properly positioned in the cleaning device.

The figure 4 illustrates the case of the positioning of another gun of longer barrel length than that of the gun of the figure 3 . As for the example of figure 3 , the paint inlet 27 is connected to the outlet of the feed head 3 and the outlet 29 of the gun is aligned with the inlet 151 of the receiving nozzle 15. In this example of the figure 4 , the extra length of the gun barrel, compared with the length of the gun barrel of the figure 3 is absorbed by the cleaning device by virtue of the sliding mobility of the receiving nozzle 15. So, in the example shown in the figure 4 , the receiving nozzle 15 is pushed back by the barrel of the gun 26 in a position different from that of the figure 3 . Indeed, in the example shown in figure 4 , the return spring of the nozzle 15 is more compressed than it is in the example shown in FIG. figure 3 for which the barrel of the gun is shorter.

The swiveling sealing member 19 makes it possible, in combination with the sliding mobility of the receiving nozzle 15, to introduce the outlet 29 of the gun into the ring 18, with if necessary a given inclination, in order then to be able to align said outlet 29 with inlet 151 of the receiving nozzle 15 while connecting the paint inlet 27 to the outlet of the feed head 3.

It is observed that for pistols of different lengths as illustrated in FIG. figures 3 and 4 the device according to the invention, by virtue of the sliding mobility of the receiving nozzle, makes it possible to align the inlet of the reception nozzle 15 with the outlet 29 of the gun 26, as well as the paint inlet 27 of the gun with the output of the head 3 feeding. In particular, the outlet 152 of the fluid passage 150 of the receiving nozzle remains, irrespective of the sliding position of the receiving nozzle 15, in communication with the collecting means 16 to allow the collection of the dirty product leaving the pistol 26.

The adapter 8 for mini gun is detailed below.

As illustrated in figure 5 for a pistol 26 of the mini-pistol type, whose outer peripheral wall of the barrel is smaller than the size of the opening delimited by the sealing member 19, said device comprises an adapter 8 reportable on the end of the sealing member 19.

Said adapter 8 has a first through passage 81, preferably central, capable of ensuring communication between the fluid outlet 29 of the gun and the inlet 151 of the fluid passage 150 of the receiving nozzle 15, in the applied state of the gun 26 against the adapter. Said adapter 8 also has a second through passage 82 capable of ensuring communication between the gas outlet 30 of the gun and the volume delimited between the peripheral wall of the chamber 185 and the receiving nozzle 15, in the applied state of the pistol against the adapter 8.

Said adapter 8 also has a wall 80, preferably of generally conical shape and concavity oriented on the outer side of the sealing member, which, in the attached state of the adapter 8 on the sealing member 19 , reduces the opening of said sealing member 19, so as to allow, on the one hand, the outlet 29 of spray fluid gun 26 applied against the adapter 8 to communicate in a sealed manner with the inlet of the receiving nozzle 15 and, on the other hand, at the gas outlet 30 of the gun 26 applied against the adapter 8 to communicate in leaktight manner with the exhaust duct 47.

Thus, the wall of the barrel, or the barrel cap, which extends around the outlet 29 of the fluid to be sprayed and the external gas outlet 30 of said gun 26 can bear against the sealing member 19. through said adapter 8 to ensure the sealed communication between the gas outlet 30 of the gun and the volume defined between the peripheral wall of the chamber 185 and the receiving nozzle 15, in the applied state of the gun against the adapter 8 .

The outer peripheral edge of the opening reduction wall 80 is provided with a bearing return against the outer face of the peripheral wall 190 of the sealing member 19. Said return and the reduction wall of said adapter delimit between them an insertion groove of the free edge of the peripheral wall 190 of the sealing member19.

The portion of the barrel of the pistol that extends around the outlet 30 of the pistol is able to bear, directly or indirectly, against the peripheral wall 190 of said sealing member 19, while the part of the barrel of the pistol 26 which extends between the axial outlet 29 and the outlet 30 of the gun 26, abuts directly or indirectly against the portion of the nozzle 15 which surrounds the inlet 151 of said nozzle.

As illustrated more particularly in figures 3 and 4 , in the connected state of the outputs 29, 30 of the gun to the receiving system 14, the sealing member 19 surrounds the gun barrel with sealing contact and prevents the air issuing from the end of the barrel of the gun. gun by the gas outlets 30 to escape out of the volume defined by the ring 18, the nozzle 15 and said sealing member 19, and with which communicates the inlet of the exhaust pipe 47 gas.

It should be noted that the end of the receiving nozzle 15 is preferably made of an elastically deformable material. It can be seen that the receiving nozzle has a cylindro-conical shape. This makes it possible to connect the receiving nozzle 15 to guns having paint outlets of different diameters.

As mentioned above, said gas discharge duct 47 has an inlet which opens into the passage formed by the space left free between the ring 18 and the receiving nozzle 15, in particular the frustoconical part of said nozzle 15, and an opposite end or outlet which opens into the gas evacuation zone. In the examples shown, the gas evacuation zone is formed by the ambient air surrounding the cleaning device so that said gas evacuation duct opens into the open air.

For this purpose, the frame 2 support comprises, in its so-called rear zone, opposite to its front opening, at least one, preferably a plurality of openings corresponding to the outlet to the open air or the exhaust ducts.

Advantageously, said receiving member 14 comprises a plurality of conduits 47 for evacuation of gases. Said conduits are arranged equidistant from the axis of the receiving nozzle 15. Thus, the entries of the gas discharge conduits 47 in the space between the ring 18 and the receiving nozzle 15 are arranged on a center circle located on the central axis of the receiving nozzle. This increases the possibilities of evacuation of gases in the atmosphere.

During a cleaning phase, the cleaning product leaves the feed head 3 and passes successively through the feed nozzle 5, the paint inlet 27, the internal pipe, the outlet 29 of the gun, the element 14 reception and then arrives in the collection means 16.

The cleaning product therefore circulates in a closed circuit from the feed head 3 to the collection means 16.

After circulating the cleaning product, the inlet head 3 can be controlled to pass air under pressure in the closed circuit mentioned above to dry the spray gun and more specifically to evacuate the cleaning product remaining in the internal conduit.

The present invention is not limited to the embodiments described and shown, but the skilled person will be able to make any variant within his mind without departing from the scope of the claims.
