Description

The present invention relates to a device for fixing an open oral cavity of a rodent, in particular a mouse, for example for the intratracheal, pulmonary and / or dental application of a substance, in particular a pharmaceutical active substance or a medicament, according to the preamble of claim 1.

For intratracheal, pulmonary or dental administration of substances or active substances in anesthetized rodents, such as mice, the oral cavity must be opened and kept open. A manual opening or keeping open the oral cavity, such as by grasping the upper and / or lower jaw of the rodent with his hands here holds a considerable injury potential for the user.

From the DE 28 38 900 A on which the two-part form of claim 1 is based, a generic device is known, by means of which the oral cavity of rodents can be opened and / or held or fixed in the open state.

It is an object of the invention to provide a device for fixing an open oral cavity of a rodent, which can be adapted to different sized rodents and their anatomy as simple and variable as possible and intuitive. The device should also be through To design a simplistic and easy-to-operate structure.

This object is achieved with a device for fixing an open oral cavity of a rodent with the features of claim 1. Advantageous embodiments of the invention will become apparent from the dependent claims, the following description and the figures.

The claimed device is designed for fixing an open oral cavity, thus for opening an oral cavity of a rodent, in particular an anesthetized rodent, in order to treat the animal intratracheally, intrapulmonary or dental.

The device has in this respect a base plate with a bearing surface for the rodent, which serves in particular for placing at least the head of the rodent, and a first, protruding from the base plate headband and a second, also protruding from the base plate headband. The first retaining clip is intended for fixing an upper jaw of the rodent, while the second retaining clip is designed for fixing a lower jaw of the rodent. The first and / or the second headband can be fixed or fixed at a variable distance from the base plate.

It is envisaged that both the first and the second headband are preferably held continuously displaceable on the base plate, so that the headband depending on the size and anatomical nature of the rodent to be fixed individually to open or to hold open the corresponding oral cavity are adjustable. Alternatively it is provided that one of the headband is preferably held continuously displaceable on the base plate and in particular the other headband is fixedly held on the base plate or rotatably movable, for example. Swiveling, is held.

It is provided in particular that the rodent comes to lie supine on the base plate, so that the first, provided for fixing the upper jaw headband typically has a smaller distance to the base plate than the second headband, which is provided for fixing the lower jaw of the rodent and designed accordingly is.

According to a preferred embodiment, the first retaining bracket has a U-shaped contour with two protruding through the base plate through first legs. In this case, provision is made in particular for the two first legs, which are at a predetermined distance from one another to align the base plate, to be aligned approximately parallel to the surface normal of the bearing surface of the base plate. In that regard, the first headband is arranged by the slidably guided in the base plate first leg height adjustable on the base plate.

A fixation of the first retaining bracket relative to the base plate can take place according to a further embodiment by means of a clamping device with two mutually adjustable clamping jaws in different positions to the base plate and thereby largely continuously. The enclosing the free ends of the first leg and against each other approximately clamped by a screw clamping jaws can exert a mechanical tension on the legs in a clamping or locking position, so that they are fixable with respect to their position on the base plate.

In particular, the first retaining clip may be formed as a curved metal wire, wherein, for example, the free ends of the first legs projecting from the underside of the base plate may also be manually compressed and locked in this compressed configuration by the clamping jaws. The at least slightly curved locking of the first leg in particular counteracts an upward pulling out of the first retaining clip from the base plate. The first retaining bracket with a U-shaped contour further preferably extends in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the base plate.

According to a further embodiment, the second, also with respect to the base plate adjustably formed headband on an approximately M-like contour with two substantially parallel to the support surface of the base plate extending second legs. The two outer second legs of the retaining clip are in this case guided displaceably in a longitudinal direction in each case on a perpendicular to the support surface on the base plate held guide member. They are also infinitely lockable on the guide member.

Advantageously, the guide member has an approximately cylindrical shape with a through hole in which the second legs of the second retaining bracket are guided in each case displaceably. The resulting Displaceability of the second retaining bracket parallel to the plane of the base plate makes it possible to variably adapt the position of the second retaining bracket with respect to the first retaining bracket to the respective anatomical features of the rodent.

According to a further embodiment, a U-shaped cap hanger is preferably arranged releasably and / or pivotally at the free end portions of the second leg. In particular, the remainder of the body of the anesthetized rodent lying on the base plate can be fixed by means of the throw-over hoop. The solvability or pivotability of the throw-over bow makes it possible to position the rodent approximately in a supine position between the second legs of the second holding bracket and thereafter to lock the animal between the throw-over bow and the base plate by attaching and / or pivoting the throw-over bar.

The throw-over bow can be arranged with the free ends of its legs on the second legs of the second retaining clip, wherein the free ends of the legs of the throw-over bow are aligned from above to the base plate facing. Advantageously, the cap bracket extends in a plane perpendicular to the base plate or perpendicular to the support surface.

According to a further embodiment, the second retaining clip lying between the spaced-apart lateral guide members on a U-shaped or V-like contour with an approximately perpendicular to the second legs extending central portion. The somewhat flattened, approximately rectilinear middle section of the second retaining bracket comes to lie between the left and right half of the lower jaw of the rodent.

The contour of the second retaining clip is designed such that a middle section can come to lie sufficiently deep within the oral cavity, while the guide members holding the second retaining clip can remain outside the oral cavity of the rodent.

According to a further embodiment, the guide members, on which the second retaining clip is displaceably guided, in each case displaceably guided in a socket, wherein the corresponding socket passes through the base plate. In that regard, the guide members are arranged approximately parallel to the surface normal of the base plate slidably on this. The possibility of displacement of the two guide members perpendicular to the support surface of the base plate results in a corresponding vertical displacement of the second retaining bracket relative to the base plate. In that regard, the second headband can be both parallel to the plane of the bearing surface of the base plate as well as moved perpendicular thereto and locked accordingly.

According to a further preferred embodiment, the second leg facing away from the end portions of the guide members are coupled together via a carrier. The carrier causes in this respect a parallel or coupled displacement of the two legs. The raising or lowering of one of the two guide members thus directly leads to a corresponding lowering or raising of the other guide member.

According to a further development, the support coupling the two guide members to each other is supported via a set screw passing through the support on an underside of the base plate facing away from the support surface. The carrier may in this case have an internal thread, which is in engagement with an external thread of the adjusting screw. The supporting arrangement of the adjusting screw on the underside of the base plate causes, by turning the adjusting screw, the distance between the carrier and thus the guide members fastened therewith, thus the second leg relative to the base plate, preferably can be changed continuously.

Optionally, the carrier or the adjusting screw cooperate with a spring element, so that an adjusting movement of the carrier can take place counter to a spring tension.

According to a further embodiment, the base plate in its support brackets facing the support surface at least one recess which serves to receive a head portion of the rodent. The shape or the geometric configuration of the recess is adapted to the shape of the male head portion of the rodent. The depression serves in particular to receive a nose, eyes and / or forehead of the head of the rodent.

In the representations according to the FIGS. 1 to 3 a device 10 for fixing an open oral cavity of a rodent is shown in various views. The device 10 has a substantially planar base plate 12, which has a in the FIG. 1 shown, in various Pivoting positions lockable joint 24 is fixed to a base 22. The plate points to a in the FIG. 1 facing the viewer, the front end approximately in the middle of a depression that is to serve to receive a head portion of the rodent to be fixed on the back. The base plate 12 is further connected via a screwed into the plate holder 20 with the hinge 24 and with the base 22.

Am in the FIG. 1 the observer facing the front edge of the base plate 12, a first U-shaped bracket 16 is arranged. This one, as in the FIG. 2 shown, two downwardly projecting legs 15, 17, by means of which the first bracket 16 passes through the base plate 12. The free ends of the legs 15, 17 can be clamped between two clamping jaws 58, 60 which are connected to one another via a clamping screw 62, as can be seen from the beginning in FIG FIG. 3 is shown. The two jaws 58, 60 are in this case part of a clamping device 56, by means of which the infinitely adjustable in height first retaining bracket 16 relative to the base plate 12 is fixable.

For example, the free legs 15, 17 with their projecting from the underside of the base plate 12 sections easily bent to each other and clamped in such a strained position between the jaws 58, 60. The first headband 16 serves to fix an upper jaw of a rodent lying with its back on the base plate 12.

The second bracket 18 has an approximately M-shaped contour. However, it extends substantially parallel to the base plate 12, as for example in the FIG. 3 is shown. The second bracket 18 has at its opposite end portions respectively substantially rectilinear legs 28, 30, each passing through a cylindrical guide member 42, 44 and accordingly parallel to the plane of the base plate 12 thereto are held continuously displaceable. The guide members 42, 44 are in turn mounted in bushings 48, 46 which pass through the base plate 12.

The guide members 42, 44 project through the respective bushes 48, 46 down and project from the bottom of the base plate 12. There, the downwardly projecting ends of the guide members 42, 44 coupled to each other via an approximately parallel to the plane of the base plate 12 extending support 52 or interconnected.

By means of the carrier 52, the guide members 42, 44 are moved synchronously and parallel to each other with respect to the base plate 12. This results in a height displacement of the held in two guide members 42, 44 second support bracket 18. The second bracket 18, which is similar to the first bracket 16 is formed of a metal wire, has between the guide members 42, 44 a U- or V- shaped arcuate shape, wherein a central portion 19 is aligned approximately perpendicular to the outer legs 28, 30. The middle, approximately rectilinear trained headband portion 19 of the second bracket 18 is longitudinally offset from the first bracket 16, that is, the distance of the central portion 19 of the second support bracket 18 to the front edge portion of the base plate 12 is greater than the distance of the first retaining clip 16 to the front edge of the base plate 12th

At the free ends of the legs 28, 30 of the second retaining bracket 18, a cap bracket 26 is also removably mounted or pivotally mounted. The cap bracket 26, which extends in particular perpendicular to the plane of the base plate 12, has a recess 32 on at least one downwardly to the base plate 12 projecting legs, by means of which the cap clip 26 with the second leg 28 can be brought into engagement.

As in FIG. 4 shown, the throw-over bracket 26 from a, for example, in the FIG. 1 shown locking position in a in the FIG. 4 shown folded up position to be transferred. In this folded or pivoted position, for example, the anesthetized rodent can be placed in supine position on the base plate 12. Then, the hull or body of the animal can be fixed by folding down the capstan 26 on the base plate 12. The cap bracket 26 can be adjustably arranged on the legs 28, 30. Thus, on both sides of the legs 28, 30 are operatively connected to the stirrup 26 individual fixing members 34, 26 provided for the cap bracket 26, which are arranged by means of fixing screws 38 steplessly adjustable in the longitudinal direction of the legs 28, 30.

Furthermore, the guide members 42, 44 on their from the top of the base plate 12 upwardly projecting end portions on an internal thread for receiving fixing screws 40. These can be screwed into corresponding upper receptacles of the guide members 42, 44 until they reach with the respective guide member 42, 44 passing through ironing portions of the second support bracket 18 in investment position. By means of the fixing screws 40 thus a variable and continuous adjustment of the second retaining clip 18 can be achieved parallel to the bearing surface of the base plate 12.

The two guide members 42, 44 with each other coupling carrier 52 is also operatively connected to a screw 50. The set screw 50 has a carrier 52 passing through thread 54, which is supported upwards to the bottom of the base plate 12 through an end stop 53 on the underside of the base plate 12. Since the screw 50 is in threaded engagement with the carrier 52 and also supported on the stop 53 on the underside of the base plate 12, by turning the screw 50, a displacement of the carrier 52 can be brought perpendicular to the plane of the base plate 12, which leads to a vertical Moving the two hereby coupled guide members 42, 44 and arranged thereon second bracket 18 leads.

Between the carrier 52 and the base plate 12 may, as in the FIG. 4 indicated, further, a compression or tension spring 64 may be arranged so that an initiated via the screw 50 adjustment movement of the carrier 52 can be made against a restoring force provided by the spring 64.
