A sealing flap (2) of a flap valve (1 ) that provides perfect tightness of vessels or containers of the invention is provided with a rubber profile (5) on a fitting (4), said profile changing into a conical shape towards the edge of the sealing flap (2).

Description

SEALING FLAP OF A VALVE
The subject of the invention is a constructional solution to a sealing flap of a flap valve that provides perfect tightness of vessels or containers intended for storing capsules under inerting overpressure of about 50 mbar. The invention belongs to class B 65 G 53/40 of the International Patent Classification.
The technical problem that is adequately solved by the present invention is construction and configuration of a sealing flap of a flap valve intended for use in vessels or containers under overpressure, especially for storing capsules.
The field of the present invention is vessels or containers used for storing huge quantities of tablets or capsules especially in pharmaceutical industry. The term »capsule« means a coating, most often of gelatine, containing an active medical ingredient. The coating gets decomposed in the small or large intestine and the medicine releases into the bowel. When large quantities of capsules or tablets are in question, they are stored in huge vessels or containers before being packed into smaller quantities to blister packs for instance. Both tablets and capsules are sensitive to humidity and other influences from the ambient; therefore they need to be kept in vessels or containers under overpressure of about 50 mbar. The vessels or containers must be provided with a valve, through which a certain quantity of tablets or capsules is filled in the packing stage. The valve must be provided with a sealing flap that perfectly tightens the vessels or containers. The sealing flap must be designed in a way to provide perfect tightness and not to damage the tablets or capsules when opened and repeatedly closed. Since the tablets are considerably harder compared to capsules, they do not get damaged by an adequately shaped flap of known manufacturers. When capsules are concerned, the flap is provided with grooves on the drive shaft of the flap, which softens the flap. Such flap does not provide tightness and is not acceptable to be built into vessels or containers under overpressure used in pharmaceutical industry due to the groove-like openings.
There is also a known solution disclosed in patent document JP2004278684. The document discloses a solution to a butterfly valve for a vessel or container for tablets, the diameter of which is somewhat smaller than the valve opening. A seal bag is arranged near the butterfly to provide for a perfect retaining of tablets or capsules. To provide perfect sealing the seal bag is filled with compressed air through a compressed air supply passage disposed in the butterfly. The solution is complicated for production and needs a compressed air source apart from conventional constructional elements like a vessel or container.
The sealing flap of a flap valve that provides for perfect tightness of vessels or containers of the invention is provided with a rubber profile on the fitting, said profile turning into a conical shape towards the edge of the sealing flap. The invention will now be explained in more detail by way of an embodiment and drawings that show:
Figure 1 top view of the sealing flap and the flap valve;
Figure 2 side view of the sealing flap and the flap valve;
Figure 3 schematic view of the sealing flap with a partial cross-section
A-A.
The enclosed Figures 1 and 2 schematically show a flap valve 1 with a sealing flap 2. The flap valve 1 is provided with the sealing flap 2 that lies on a rubber ring 3. A fitting 4 of the sealing flap 2 is provided with a rubber profile 5 that has a conical cross-section towards the edge of the sealing flap 2, so that the rubber profile 5 has a thickness ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 mm at a distance between 6 to 10 mm at the contact point of the rubber profile 5 and the rubber ring 3.
The edge of the rubber profile 5 and the sealing flap 2 thus shaped ensure that the needed inerting overpressure is kept in the vessel or container, wherein the capsules that are kept within the rubber profile 5 and the rubber ring 3 during opening and closing of the sealing flap 2 do not get damaged when the sealing flap 2 is opened or closed.
