- the tracks on the coding cams allow precise positioning of the retractable teeth, which prevents them from moving in case of shock.
- the mechanism could include only a first retractable tooth and a first coding cam associated with the months of 30 days to obtain an annual calendar indicator.
- the number of retractable teeth can be modified to make other types of date indicator, such as a leap date indicator: there is in this case a second retractable tooth and a second coding cam associated with the month of February of 29 days, the third retractable tooth and the third coding cam associated with the 28-day month of February being suppressed.

- the retractable teeth may be arranged so that they move in translation along a vertical axis z or by rotation in a horizontal plane xy.
- the retractable teeth may be positioned so that their longitudinal axis is not perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the driving wheel. These teeth cooperate with a toothing positioned in a plane, parallel or not, located at a different level of the plane defined by the driving wheel.
- additional retractable teeth may be provided to circulate in the coding cams already occupied by a retractable tooth used for the date indicator, said additional retractable teeth being used to actuate another mechanism.
- the driving pinions may be constituted by a wheel similar to the driving wheel described above.
- the mechanism according to the invention allows to drive a perpetual calendar indicator but it is obvious that it can be used to cause an indicator of any other cyclical or non-cyclic information.
