- DMC Data Matrix Code
- German patent application DE 10153943 A1 discloses a laser marker and a method for applying a matrix code to an article.
- the apparatus includes a laser for generating a laser beam and a deflection unit for focusing and guiding the laser beam within a label field on the article or the workpiece.
- the laser marker also contains a reading device.
- the field of view of the reader is adjustable via the deflection unit at least to a part of the label field containing the matrix code.
- a dichroic beam splitter is provided in the beam path.
- German Offenlegungsschrift DE 103 08 684 A1 discloses a method for quality control of two-dimensional matrix codes on metallic workpieces with an image processing apparatus.
- the matrix code is applied in the form of marking points on the metallic workpieces.
- the marking process of the marking points takes place on the basis of predetermined digital position data by means of a marking tool.
- the image processing device the corresponding image data are acquired for checking only at the locations specified by the position data.
- U.S. Patent Application US 2004/0099724 A1 discloses a workpiece with a machine readable medium.
- the data carrier comprises a two-dimensional matrix code.
- the matrix code is produced on the workpiece by means of bores. Machining is preferred because the burn-in of the code by means of a laser can lead to structural changes in the material. Before the workpiece is picked up by the matrix code holder, the matrix code is checked by a reader.
- DE 100 59 246 A1 also deals with a labeling system in which a laser beam emitting radiation source is disposed within a housing.
- a scanning device is located in the housing, which deflects the laser beam into a protective housing.
- the object of the invention is to provide a hand-held labeling system in which different beam sources can be used in a simple manner and meets the safety conditions for the beam sources used.
- the hand-held labeling system carries a protective housing on a support frame.
- the protective housing has an opening which lies opposite the upper surface of the workpiece on which the marking is to be applied.
- the beam source can be mounted in the support frame such that an optical axis of the beam source passes through the opening of the protective housing.
- the beam source is a laser which is mounted in the support frame in a laser carrier.
- the laser carrier has a laser base which carries a plurality of guide elements for inserting the beam source. Furthermore, the laser base has formed an opening which serves to receive at least part of an optic of the beam source.
- the laser carrier is provided with at least one handle element for manual handling. Furthermore, a machine-handling hanger may additionally be attached.
- the hand-held labeling system can be lowered onto the workpiece, on the surface of which the marking is to be applied.
- the markings to be applied are preferably data matrix codes (DMC).
- DMC data matrix codes
- a camera is attached to the protective housing. By means of the camera, the light reflected back from the surface of the workpiece is detected and thus the applied marking is imaged on an image-recording chip of the camera. It is for a professional of course, that the camera includes the necessary for the image optics.
- a swiveling mirror is attached inside the protective housing .
- the pivotable mirror can be pivoted to a first position and to a second position.
- the first position the light from the beam source passes along the optical axis of the beam source to the surface of the workpiece to perform there the corresponding mark.
- the second position the mirror is arranged such that the light from the beam source is blocked and that the light returning from the surface of the workpiece is directed towards the camera.
- the protective housing itself carries a bottom plate, in which the opening for the passage of the light of the beam source is provided.
- the opening of the base plate of the protective housing faces the surface of the workpiece.
- At least one outer wall of the protective housing at least one safety initiator is attached.
- the safety initiator determines if there is proper positioning of the hand-held labeling system with respect to the workpiece. Thus, a ride of light from the beam source out of the protective housing is prevented and the beam source is switched off, if the protective housing is not set correctly. Due to the signal of the safety initiator the beam source is switched off. Another possibility is that, due to the signal from the safety initiator, the mirror pivots into the second position, thus blocking the light coming from the beam source.
- the illumination device is arranged on at least one inner wall of the protective housing in order to provide the diffuse illumination required for image acquisition by the camera.
- lasers are used as beam sources.
- the security labels are referred to as Data Matrix Codes (DMC).
- DMC Data Matrix Codes
- the hand-held labeling system according to the invention is provided with a protective housing. This protective housing displays all necessary safety devices (in particular the safety initiators).
- the camera is used to check the safety marking applied to the surface of the workpiece and is attached directly to the protective housing.
- the hand-held marking system is particularly suitable for laser marking of large bearings, where due to the dimensions of the bearings, it is not worthwhile to build corresponding stationary and solid housings or arrangements in order to provide the workpieces with laser marking.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the hand-held labeling system according to the invention.
- Figure 2 is a perspective view of the support frame from above, wherein in
- Figure 3 is a perspective view of the support frame from below, wherein the opening in the bottom plate of the protective housing can be seen;
- FIG. 4 shows a sectional view through the protective housing of the hand-guided labeling system, wherein the pivotable mirror is in the first position
- Figure 5 is a sectional view of the protective housing shown in Fig. 4, wherein the pivoting mirror is in the second position and
- Figure 6 is a schematic representation of a part of the workpiece, in which on the surface of the workpiece, a mark is attached.
- identical reference numerals are used.
- only reference symbols are shown in the individual figures, which are required for the description of the respective figure.
- the hand-held labeling system 1 shows a perspective view of the hand-held labeling system 1 according to the invention.
- the hand-held labeling system 1 consists of a beam source 2, which is designed as a laser.
- the hand-held labeling system 1 comprises a camera 4 with which the markings 100 applied to the surface 101 of a workpiece 102 can be read or verified (see FIG. 6).
- the hand-held labeling system 1 is provided with a protective housing 10.
- the protective housing 10 is mounted on a support frame 12. At the upper portion of the support frame 12, the beam source 2 is inserted.
- the beam source 2 is supported by a laser bottom 18, which is part of the laser carrier 15.
- the laser carrier 15 is connected to the support frame 12.
- a plurality of guide elements 20 are arranged, with which a lateral guidance of the beam source 2 is achieved.
- the alignment of the beam source 2 in the hand-held labeling system 1 is facilitated by means of the guide elements 20.
- At least one gripping element 24 is provided in the upper region of the hand-held labeling system 1. With at least one grip element 24, the hand-held labeling system 1 can be aligned with respect to the surface 101 of the workpiece 102.
- a suspension 26 is also provided, with the addition of a mechanical handling of the hand-held labeling system 1 is possible.
- the interaction of the grip element 24 and the suspension 26 thus makes it possible for the user to position the hand-held marking system 1 in a light, simple and body-friendly manner with respect to the part of the surface 101 of the workpiece 102 to which the marker 100 is to be attached.
- a bottom plate 36 is provided in the area of the protective housing 10, which is opposite the surface 101 of the workpiece 102. Between the bottom plate 36 and the laser bottom 18, a strut 17 is mounted, which provides additional mechanical stabilization of the hand-held labeling system 1.
- the protective housing 10 is rectangular. At least one outer wall 10A of the protective housing 10, a safety initiator 39 is attached.
- the safety initiator 39 it is possible to check and determine the correct placement of the hand-held labeling system 1 on the workpiece 102 to be inscribed.
- the safety initiator 39 may be formed as an inductive proximity switch which monitors itself. According to a preferred embodiment, two of these safety initiators 39 are provided to control the placement directly on the workpiece 102 to be inscribed.
- a safety initiator 39 checks that the hand-held labeling system 1 is located in a part holder (placed on the bearing). Thus, the hand-held labeling system 1 and the beam source 2 is controlled on the workpiece 102 placed. By means of the controlled placement, it is possible that no light from the radiation source 2 emerges from the interior of the protective housing 10. Depending on the determination by the safety initiator 39, a corresponding action can therefore be triggered in order to ensure the safety regulations for the operation of the indicated labeling system 1.
- Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the support frame 12 from above view.
- the protective housing 10 is provided below the laser bottom 18.
- the protective housing 10 also carries the camera 4.
- an opening 22 is formed into which at least a part of the optical system 25 of the beam source 2 protrudes (see FIG. 4 and FIG. 5).
- the protective housing 10 is closed off by a base plate 36. From the outer wall 10A of the protective housing 10, the at least one safety initiator 39 is mounted.
- a drive 31 is provided on the protective housing 10, with which a mirror 30 from a first position 30 1 in a second position 30 2 (see Fig. 4 and Fig. 5) can be pivoted.
- FIG. 3 shows a sectional view through the region of the hand-held labeling system 1, which essentially represents the protective housing 10.
- the optics 25 of the beam source 2 thereby engages partly through the opening 22 in the laser bottom 18.
- the optics 25 of the beam source 2 thus defines an optical axis 16 along which the light of the beam source 2 propagates.
- the mirror 30 is in the first position 3d.
- the first position 3d means that the light provided by the beam source 2 can propagate unhindered along the optical axis 16 and passes through the opening 37 of the bottom plate 36 onto the surface 101 of the workpiece 102.
- the mirror 30 2 is pivoted.
- the light of the beam source 2 which propagates along the optical axis 16, is blocked.
- the lighting device 6 attached to the inner wall 101 of the protective housing 10
- the surface 101 of the workpiece 102 can be illuminated in a suitable manner so that a qualitatively sufficient detection of the marking 100 on the surface 101 of the workpiece 102 is possible.
- the surface 101 of the factory Piece 102 outgoing light passes through the opening 37 in the bottom plate 36 along the optical axis 32 of the camera 4 to the camera 4.
- the camera 4 with a camera body 4G attached to the housing 10
