Description
Zylinderlaufbuchse sowie Baueinheit Cylinder liner and assembly
aus mindestens einer Zylinderlaufbuchse und einem Kurbelgehäuse from at least one cylinder liner and a crankcase
The present invention relates to a cylinder liner for a cylinder crankcase of an internal combustion engine. The present invention further relates to an assembly of at least one cylinder liner and a cylinder crankcase for an internal combustion engine, with at least one of the at least one cylinder liner associated coolant chamber.
In internal combustion engines, a distinction is made between "wet" and "dry" cylinder liners. In wet cylinder liners, a coolant space is integrated into the cylinder crankcase and formed between the cylinder crankcase and the cylinder liner. There is a risk that the cylinder liner, which is in direct contact with the coolant, will be damaged by cavitation in the coolant. The cavitation is, for example, caused by high-frequency vibrations, which are generated by the gas forces in the combustion chamber and the shock pulses in the piston side movement. These high-frequency vibrations are transmitted in particular via the cylinder liner to the coolant. The extreme pressure and temperature peaks typical of cavitation cause damage in the material of the cylinder liner, in particular in the outer jacket surface. This risk exists in particular when the cylinder liner is made of a cast iron material, since this material has a comparatively inhomogeneous structure due to the graphite inclusions (spheroidal graphite or lamellar graphite). This inhomogeneous structure is particularly susceptible to such extreme pressure and temperature peaks, so that material particles can break out of the cylinder liner. From this, a hole in the cylinder wall can develop, whereby coolant can escape in the direction of the combustion chamber.
The present invention is therefore based on the object, a generic cylinder liner or a generic assembly of at least one Further develop cylinder liner and a cylinder crankcase so that the risk of cavitation damage is at least reduced.
The solution is that at least a portion of the outer surface of the cylinder liner is surrounded by a sleeve of a metallic material. The subject matter of the present invention is furthermore an assembly comprising at least one cylinder liner and a cylinder crankcase, wherein at least a portion of the outer jacket surface of the cylinder liner is surrounded by a sleeve of a metallic material facing the at least one coolant chamber.
The embodiment of the invention is characterized in that the outer surface of the cylinder liner is at least locally protected by an enclosure of a cavitation resistant material from cavitation damage. Damage to the cylinder liner or the structural unit according to the invention by cavitation is thereby significantly reduced.
Vorteilhafte Weiterbildungen ergeben sich aus den Unteransprüchen. Advantageous developments emerge from the subclaims.
Conveniently, the entire outer surface of the cylinder liner is surrounded by a sleeve of a metallic material to optimize the protection against cavitation damage. A sleeve made of a steel material is particularly resistant to the extreme pressure and Temperaturbeaufschlagungen occurring during cavitation.
The sleeve provided according to the invention in particular protects cylinder liners consisting of a cast iron material from cavitation damage.
The inventively provided sleeve can be shrunk in a conventional manner to the outer surface of the cylinder liner or potted with the outer surface of the cylinder liner. When the sleeve surrounds at least a portion of the outer surface of the cylinder liner, it is advantageous if it is flush with the outer surface of the cylinder liner to produce a smooth outer surface.
