Definitions
- the present invention relates to a household appliance comprising a moisture sensor by measuring the resistivity and a water level sensor.
- It relates generally to the field of household appliances used to dry a product, including a dryer or a washer-dryer.
- the moisture measurement in the laundry is determined by measuring the resistivity of the product to be dried. This resistivity is indeed proportional to the amount of water remaining in the product.
- a humidity sensor thus comprises two electrodes in contact with the product during the drying operation.
- Such a humidity sensor must be electrically powered.
- the humidity sensor In order to isolate the electrodes of the humidity sensor from the high voltage present at the power supply of the household appliance, the humidity sensor is fed by galvanically isolated supply means with respect to this power supply. .
- These supply means use, for example, an isolated transformer.
- the humidity sensor is itself connected to an input of a microcontroller of the household appliance, through a galvanically isolated coupling, implementing for example an optocoupler.
- the microcontroller is generally adapted to receive as input an analog signal, for example a DC voltage transmitted by the humidity sensor and whose amplitude is representative of the moisture contained in the product to be dried.
- the microcontroller is adapted to digitize this signal for exploitation by an appropriate algorithm for determining the moisture remaining in the product to be dried, and in particular to determine the end of a drying cycle when the product is dry.
- the water extracted from the product is recovered in a water collection tank.
- the water level sensor comprises for example a float disposed in the water collection tank and coupled to a switch (microswitch, flexible blade switch or ILS).
- a switch microswitch, flexible blade switch or ILS.
- the operation of the switch is triggered by mechanical or magnetic means in response to the rise of the float in the water collection tank.
- a float water level sensor is for example described in the document FR 2,526,454 .
- the document EP 2 287 686 describes a household appliance having a plurality of sensors connected in parallel to a control unit.
- the control unit can enable and disable each of the sensors independently.
- the detection of the water level in the water collection tank implements a large number of components, which makes the manufacture of the appliance difficult.
- the present invention aims to improve the water level detection function in a water recovery tank of a household appliance taking advantage of the existence of the means used for the operation of a sensor d. 'humidity.
- a household appliance comprising a humidity sensor for measuring the resistivity of a product to be dried and a water level sensor in a water collection tank, the moisture sensor being fed with electrically by galvanically isolated supply means of the electrical power supply of the household appliance and being connected to an input of a microcontroller of the household appliance.
- the water level sensor is electrically connected to the galvanically isolated supply means and is mounted in parallel with the humidity sensor, the water level sensor being connected to said input of the microcontroller.
- the mounting of the water level sensor can be achieved by using a pre-existing galvanically isolated power supply, limiting thus the cost of manufacturing the appliance.
- the coupling on the same input of the microcontroller of the humidity sensor and the water level sensor limits the number of inputs to the microcontroller and the number of connectors and tracks on the electronic board carrying the set. components.
- the appliance comprises a water level sensor by conductivity measurement, for detecting the presence or absence of water at a given height in the water collection tank.
- the humidity sensor and the water level sensor are electrically connected to the same input of the microcontroller through galvanic isolation means.
- the cost of manufacturing the apparatus is further limited by taking advantage of the existence of common galvanic isolation means coupling the humidity sensor and the water level sensor to the microcontroller.
- the water level sensor comprises two electrodes arranged at a predefined distance from the bottom of the water collection tank.
- the electrodes being arranged at a predefined distance from the bottom of the water collection tank, when the water level reaches a height corresponding to this predefined distance, the electrodes are immersed in water.
- the water then provides electrical continuity between the electrodes, thus leading to a resistance measured across the electrodes very low compared to the resistance measured across the electrodes when the latter are out of the water. This variation in the measured resistance makes it possible to detect the filling of the water collection tank.
- the use of a water level sensor using two electrodes, which are fixedly mounted in the recovery tank additionally improves the accuracy and reliability of the water level measurement in the water collection tank.
- the electrodes of the water level sensor being intended to be immersed in the water of the water collection tank accessible to the user, it is necessary to electrically connect the water level sensor to a galvanically isolated power supply. the power supply of the appliance.
- a resistor is mounted between the humidity sensor and the microcontroller input, the impedance of this resistance being greater than the value of the resistance measured across the two electrodes immersed in the water of the water collection tank.
- the impedance of the resistor is small compared to the value of the resistance measured across the moisture sensor when the product is dry.
- this added resistance in the circuit of the humidity sensor does not disturb the detection of the end of a drying cycle implemented by an algorithm at the level of the microcontroller, adapted to determine that the product is dry as a function of the measured resistance. at the terminals of the humidity sensor.
- the present invention finds particular application in a washer-dryer or dryer.
- the appliance may be a dryer or a washer-dryer, wherein a moisture sensor by resistivity measurement is used to manage the drying cycle of a product to be dried, and here laundry.
- the moisture measurement by resistivity is achieved by the passage of the laundry along the moisture sensor during the rotation of the drum mounted in the body of the appliance.
- the humidity sensor 10 is for example made from two electrodes 10a, 10b intended to come into contact with the laundry to be dried.
- the humidity sensor for resistivity measurement comprises an electrical module 16 powered by supply means 12.
- the electrical power supply 14 of the household appliance is at a potential of 230 V.
- the galvanically isolated power supply means 12 allow the humidity sensor 10 to be powered electrically at low voltage, and for example at a value of 20 V.
- these galvanically isolated supply means 12 can be implemented by the use of a transformer.
- the humidity sensor 10 is connected to an input of a microcontroller 18.
- the analog signal measured at the terminals of the humidity sensor 10 by the electrical module 16 is typically a DC voltage whose amplitude can be directly proportional to the resistance seen by the sensors. 10a, 10b of the humidity sensor 10. This analog signal is addressed by the electronic module 16 on the input 18a of the microcontroller 18.
- Galvanic isolation means 20 are also provided between the electrical module 16 and the microcontroller 18, operating at a voltage of approximately 5 V.
- the galvanic isolation means 20 between the electrical module 16 of the humidity sensor 10 and the microcontroller 18 can be realized by means of an optocoupler, enabling the transmission of information without an electrical connection between the two circuits.
- the water extracted from the laundry is recovered for example in a water collection tank 21.
- This water collection tank 21 must be emptied regularly manually or automatically by periodically operating a lifting pump.
- a water level sensor 22 is provided in the assembly illustrated in FIG. figure 1 .
- the water level sensor 22 is connected in parallel with the humidity sensor 10.
- the power supply of the water level sensor 22 is thus implemented through the electrical module 16 of the humidity sensor 10, the water level sensor 22 being electrically connected to the galvanically isolated supply means 12 already provided for the humidity sensor 10.
- the water level sensor 22 is furthermore mounted in parallel with the humidity sensor 10, it is also connected to the same input 18a of the microcontroller 18, thus making it possible to limit the input ports of the microcontroller 18, as well as the number of connection tracks on an electronic card 24 carrying all the circuits of the system.
- the humidity sensor 10 and the water level sensor 22 are electrically connected to the same input 18a of the microcontroller 18 through the galvanic isolation means 20 described above.
- the detection of the water level in the water collection tank 21 can be carried out by measuring the conductivity.
- the water level sensor 22 comprises two electrodes 22a, 22b disposed at a predetermined distance h from the bottom of the water collection tank 21.
- the electrodes 22a, 22b are out of water and have a high resistance between them.
- a water level sensor 22 employing two fixed electrodes 22a, 22b makes it possible to limit the number of parts making up the water level sensor 22 and also to avoid any movement of parts.
- the detection thus carried out by the water level sensor 22 is more reliable.
- the resistance measurements made at the terminals of the humidity sensor 10 and the water level sensor 22 are thus coupled to the same input 18a of the microcontroller 18.
- a resistor R is added in the electrical circuit of the humidity sensor 10.
- this resistor R is connected in series with one of the electrodes 10a, 10b of the humidity sensor.
- the value of the impedance of the resistor R must be greater than the value of the resistance measured across the two electrodes 22a, 22b of the water level sensor 22 when these electrodes 22a, 22b are immersed in the water of the water collection tank 21.
- the value of the resistance measured at the terminals of the humidity detection circuit incorporating this resistor R is always greater than the value of the resistance measured across the water level sensor 22 when the water collection tank 21 reaches its maximum level.
- the impedance of the resistor R is small relative to the value of the resistance measured across the humidity sensor 10 when the product is dry, so as not to influence this significant resistance value at the end of the cycle. drying.
- the humidity sensor 10 makes it possible to manage a laundry drying cycle from the resistivity measurement.
- the resistance measurement seen by the humidity sensor 10 is of the order of a few Ohms when the laundry is wet, at the end of a wash cycle after spinning.
- this resistance increases and is for example equal to 4 MOhms when the laundry is still wet.
- a voltage representative of this resistor is thus measured, this analog measurement being addressed to the microcontroller 18 which converts this analog signal into a digital signal, for example in this embodiment coded on 8 bits, that is to say on 256 values. .
- the resistance seen by the humidity sensor 10 increases and the digital signal managed by the microcontroller algorithm 18 decreases.
- the water level sensor 22 makes it possible to monitor the height of water in the water collection tank 21 from the resistance measurement at the electrodes 22a, 22b.
- the resistance measurement drops and is very low, and for example less than 100 ohms.
- the value of the impedance of the resistance is chosen.
- R equals for example 220 kOhms, always higher than the resistance value less than 100 kOhms read by the electrodes 22a, 22b of the humidity sensor 22 when these electrodes 22a, 22b are immersed in the water of the recovery tank of water 21.
- the resistance R added in the measuring circuit of the humidity sensor 10 Thanks to the resistance R added in the measuring circuit of the humidity sensor 10, the smallest resistance value measured by this humidity sensor 10, obtained when the laundry is very wet, will always be greater than or equal to the value of resistance R added.
- the resistance measurement at the terminals of the water level sensor 22 immersed in the water is less than the minimum value of resistance, here of the order of 220 kOhms, coming from the measurement of resistance by the sensor. humidity 10.
- the digital value, resulting from the analog-digital conversion corresponding to a maximum water level in the recovery tank 21, is always greater than the largest numerical value that can be derived from the analog-to-digital conversion of the signal sent by the humidity sensor 10.
- the impedance of the resistance R added at the level of the measuring circuit of the humidity sensor 10 is low and lower than the value of the resistance measured at the terminals of the humidity sensor 10 when the product is dry, here of the order of several tens of MegaOhms, the addition of this resistance R does not interfere with the detection of the end of a drying cycle by the algorithm implemented in the microcontroller 18.
- the resistance measurement linked to the humidity sensor 10 is always in a range between 220 kOhms and 10 MOhms, the impedance added by the resistor R in series in the measuring circuit of the humidity sensor 10 remaining negligible compared to the value of the resistance seen by this sensor when the laundry is dry.
- the drying cycle is paused waiting for a manual emptying by the user of the water collection tank 21, a lifting pump is implemented to automatically evacuate the water from the water collection tank 21.
- the use of the humidity sensor 10 and the level detection sensor 22 is exclusive, since the humidity measurement carried out by the humidity sensor 10 is not operated, and does not need to be, when the water level in the recovery tank 21 is high.
- this instantaneous resistance is digitally filtered by the software.
- the resistance measured at the level of the laundry always remains below a predetermined numerical value, in this case of the order of 200, of the resistance peaks occurring only periodically when the electrodes 22a, 22b of the water level sensor 22 are immersed in the water. water from the recovery tank 21.
- the time constant of the analog filter of the electrical module 16 of the humidity sensor 10 is important, and the time to go up to an absolute threshold value, especially at the end of the cycle, would take several seconds and thus mask the measurement of resistivity by the humidity sensor 10 for a long time.
- the comparison between the instantaneous resistance and the filtered resistance allows rapid detection of the high water level, of the order of 2 seconds, which does not disturb the monitoring of the resistivity measurement by the sensor. humidity 10.
- the lifting pump is implemented, for example for 10 seconds, to evacuate the water stored in the water collection tank 21.
- the drying apparatus may include means for displaying a visual information indicating "full tank” to the user to allow his intervention.
- the pause of the drying cycle is implemented as soon as the instantaneous resistance measurement has a large difference with the measurement of filtered resistance.
