En effet, le câble est solidarisé par un moyen de solidarisation amovible 5 au tambour à une distance déterminée de son extrémité terminale fixée à l'axe de rotation du tambour. Ce moyen de solidarisation résiste aux efforts de tractions normaux, ce qui provoque l'arrêt normal du déroulement du câble lorsque ce moyen de solidarisation amovible vient sensiblement en bas, en relation avec la pièce de guidage 10 de câble. La partie de câble qui peut être déroulée avant l'arrêt normal est qualifiée de câble utile 6a et dans l'exemple représenté il reste environ un demi tour au niveau du moyeu 4 de longueur de câble utile 6a qui peut être déroulée.
