Description

The present invention generally relates to a beverage container or a beverage bag (also referred to as beverage stand-up pouch or Pouch pack), which is configured for a filling amount of 150 to 300 ml (preferably 200 ml). The beverage container is generally used for the packaging of beverages, preferably juices and fruit juice drinks. The beverage in the beverage container is usually drunk with a drinking straw, which is either supplied separately or removably adhered, for example, to the back of the beverage container. Usually, the drinking straw is pierced and introduced at the front of the beverage container through a puncture site provided for this purpose in the beverage container.

From the EP 0 600 502 A1 is a beverage stand bag is known in which in the packaging material (ie packaging film) of the beverage bag a fully stamped by the packaging material puncture hole (drinking straw) is formed, which is underlaid for the purpose of sealing the puncture hole on the inside of the package by a PE strip. This puncture hole in the packaging film of the beverage bag is already punched before the process of the filling process. Subsequently, the PE strip, also before the filling process, attached to the inside of the package to close the puncture hole from the inside. To drink the drink, the drinking straw hole is opened by inserting a supplied drinking straw into the already punched-in puncture hole and then piercing the PE strip under the puncture hole with the tip of the drinking straw. The PE strip also causes after the piercing of the inner PE strip by means of the drinking straw and when tipping the beverage stand bag (or if the bag is applied too much pressure) leak at the gap between the packaging film and the drinking straw no drink can.

The in the EP 0 600 502 A1 However, the proposed solution has some disadvantages. Since the packaging film already by the punched drinking straw hole is opened, damage to the beverage bag in the region of the puncture hole - for example, by a needle - not or hardly visible, so that the originality of the packaging is not sufficiently secured. Furthermore, adhering the PE strip to the inside of the packaging film requires a further operation for producing the packaging or packaging material of the beverage bag, which causes additional costs. The PE strip adhered under the punched-out drinking straw hole also does not provide adequate protection of the beverage (as compared to a completely closed packaging film) due to oxygen migration through the material of the PE strip itself and due to leaks at the juncture between the PE layer. Strip and the inside of the packaging film. Finally, it can not be ruled out that the PE strip separates from the packaging material in whole or in part, which can not be perceived by the user. In this case, air or contaminants may enter the interior of the bag, spoiling the beverage.

The WO 98/14317 A1 discloses a laminate having a three-layered construction, namely an inner layer and an outer layer of a polymer and a middle layer of cardboard.

The WO 97/46459 A1 describes a beverage sachet made of a packaging material with a multilayer structure. In the outer layer of this multi-layered packaging material, a puncture site is formed by burning away a part of the outer layer by means of a laser.

The DE 1 009 445 B discloses a packaging container of a flexible film material having a two-layer structure of two plastic films.

The present invention is therefore generally based on the object to overcome the above-described disadvantages of the prior art. The basic idea of the invention is based on the fact that the packaging material or the packaging film of the beverage container according to the invention remains intact and that the drinking straw hole is produced only by piercing the drinking straw into the packaging material. This leaves the packaging material up unharmed for use so that no oxygen can penetrate into the beverage container.

To solve these and other objects is a beverage container with the features of claim 1. In the dependent claims advantageous and preferred developments of the beverage container according to the invention are given.

The present invention is generally based on the fact that the outer layer (and optionally one or more middle layers) of the multilayer packaging material (packaging film) is completely removed in the region of the puncture site, whereby the packaging film in the region of the puncture site has a smaller thickness, which by the inner Layer (and optionally by a or several remaining middle layers). In this way, the drinking straw in the region of the puncture site (due to the reduced thickness of the packaging film) easily - ie with little effort - are stung by the remaining packaging material. The layer or layers located below the area of the puncture site (ie under the removed outer layer and under the optionally removed middle layer (s)) is made of a material that also can be easily punctured. Overall, it is achieved by the inventive solution that for piercing the packaging material through the drinking straw about the same effort is required as in the solution that in the EP 0 600 502 A1 is proposed.

By removing the outer layer (s) of the packaging material of the beverage container according to the invention in the region of the puncture site, the consumer is given a mark by which the consumer receives an indication of the puncture hole. Preferably, this marking is formed by the different properties of the material of the outer layer outside the puncture site and the material of the visible from the outside middle or inner layer in the region of the puncture site.

The marking ensures that the packaging material is pierced in place in the area where the outer (and optionally one or more of the middle layer (s)) of the packaging material is removed.

The removal of the outer (and optionally one or more of the middle layer (s)) of the packaging material in the region of the puncture site is preferably achieved in that the outer layer (and optionally the middle layer (s)) of the packaging material by means of a laser or Laser beam is removed. Here, the intensity of the laser beam or laser light, the size of the selected focal point and / or the duration of processing is critical to the extent of removal of the layer (s) of the packaging material at the desired puncture hole.

It is obvious that the material of the packaging or the outer layer (and optionally the middle layer (s)) of the packaging material (packaging film) is removed so that the underlying layer or layers that should remain to be damaged, to ensure the originality of the packaging and thus the protection of the drink. Preferably, only the outer layer of the packaging material in the region of the puncture site is completely removed by the laser beam, leaving the inner layer and, if present, the middle layer intact. However, it is also possible to completely remove the outer and, if present, middle layer in the area of the puncture site (ie until reaching the inner layer). In the following, only the removal of the outer layer is mentioned, but it is obvious that one or more middle layers are also completely removed in the area of the puncture site. The important thing is that the inner (and optionally one or more middle layers) remain intact. Preferably, the packaging film is composed of two or three layers, namely an inner layer, an outer layer and optionally a middle layer located between the inner and outer layers. In the case of a two-layer film, only the outer layer is removed in the area of the puncture site. In a three-layer film, either only the outer or additionally the middle layer can be removed. In the case of the three-layer film, however, it is also possible to completely remove the outer layer in the region of the puncture site and to remove the middle layer only partially (ie not completely continuously).

The outer layer of the packaging material is preferably made of polyethylene (PE) or polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The laser cuts this outer layer of packaging material completely (i.e., at least to the underlying middle or inner layer). PE or PET is very suitable as a material for the outer layer, since it is well burned by the laser beam. However, other suitable materials suitable for laser processing may be used. The burning PE or PET material can be sucked off during the laser processing.

After piercing the drinking straw, the inner layer (and optionally the optionally present middle layer) is pierced, in which case the gap between the drinking straw and the puncture hole formed in the packaging material is sealed. This seal is made by that Place the material of the inner layer (and the optional middle layer) close to the outer surface of the drinking straw.

After filling the beverage is usually in the headspace of the beverage container hardly any air, which implies that the puncture hole is below the liquid level. Consequently, leakage of liquid between the drinking straw and the packaging material can occur if the seal is insufficient, in particular because a certain pressure is exerted on the beverage container during piercing. By sealing between drinking straw and packaging described above ensures that when tipping the beverage bag with pierced drinking straw no juice can leak through the gap between the straw and packaging. It is also ensured that the required vacuum or the negative pressure in the beverage container, which is produced by sucking on the drinking straw, is sufficiently retained in the packaging.

The puncture site created by laser processing (i.e., the area where the outer layer and optionally the middle layer are removed) has a diameter of about 4 mm, preferably 5 mm, but may also have a size of about 3 mm to about 7 mm.

An advantage of the laser processing is that the production process in the production of the beverage container according to the invention can be better controlled. Due to the fine adjustment via current or voltage supply, the burning of the PE or PET material can be controlled very well. As a result, the reproducibility in the production of the packaging of the beverage container is improved.

To facilitate piercing of the drinking straw, the exposed surface of the inner layer may be provided with a structure in the form of a sun (ie, light straight lines or depressions running radially outward from a central point). As a result of the structure formed by means of lasers in the inner layer of the packaging film, the opening of the beverage container at the puncture site is further improved in the beverage container according to the invention.

As the material for the packaging film, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, polypropylene and various copolymers are suitable. The thin material between about 60 and 100 microns allows easy insertion of the drinking straw, the piercing is significantly facilitated by the removal of the outer (and optionally middle) layer. The use of a multilayer composite film of two or three layers has proved to be particularly advantageous. An advantage of such composite films is that they are substantially impermeable to oxygen.

The composite film used is preferably made of an outer PE or PET layer and an inner aluminum layer. Particularly advantageous is a composite film of three layers has been found, which comprises an outer layer of PET, a middle layer of aluminum and an inner layer of PE.

The complete and complete removal of the outer PE or PET layer forms a micro-edge at the edge of the laser. As a result, a supporting effect is achieved when piercing the drinking straw.

A further optimization is achieved by the fact that the straw no longer has to be centered in the middle of the puncture site during piercing. Rather, the alignment of the drinking straw tip is equalized to the piercing opening.

The present invention will now be described with reference to some embodiments with reference to the figures, which show an embodiment of the beverage container according to the invention. Although the following description refers generally to a beverage container, the concept of the invention may also be applied to other packages in which a drinking straw or similar article is used to puncture the package.
  • FIG. 1 shows a schematic representation of the beverage container according to the invention with a puncture site in the upper region through which the removal of the outer layer is formed.
  • FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section through the multilayer packaging material of the beverage container of the present invention in the region of the puncture site.

With reference to FIG. 1 An embodiment of the beverage container according to the invention will be described below.

The beverage container 1 is produced in a known manner by a multilayer packaging film 2. In the lower region of the container 1, the film is folded twice to form the bottom region of the container in a likewise known manner. At the left, right and upper edges, the two layers of the packaging film are welded together, glued or otherwise connected together. The container 1 has a height h of between about 140 mm and 160 mm and a width b of between about 90 mm and 120 mm. Preferably, the height h is about 150 mm and the width b is about 110 mm. Height and width, however, depend on the desired capacity and can vary accordingly.

As shown, on the front side of the container 1 in the upper portion thereof (about 20 mm), under the upper edge, there is a puncture site 3 formed by partially removing the outer layer of the multi-layered packaging film, which is made by processing with the aid of a laser beam.

FIG. 2 shows a section through the packaging film 2 (composite material) of the beverage container 1 of the present invention. The film 2 consists of three layers 4, 5 and 6. The outer layer 4 is preferably made of PET and preferably has a thickness of about 12 microns, the middle layer 5 is preferably made of aluminum and preferably has a thickness of about 9 microns, and the inner layer 6 is preferably made of PE and preferably has a thickness of about 76 μm. As in FIG. 2 clearly seen, the PET material of the outer layer is completely burned away at a point 3 by means of the laser beam to the middle layer 5. As described above, it is also conceivable that the middle layer 5 is burned away in the region of the puncture site 3 either partially or completely until reaching the inner layer 6. As explained above, when the middle layer 5 is only partially burned away, a structure may be formed in this middle layer 5. These Structure may have a central point with a diameter of preferably about 2 mm. From this central point extend several lines which are cut (like the central point) by means of a laser beam into the middle layer 5 of the packaging material (packaging film). For example, 6, 8, or 10 lines may extend radially outward from the central point. This cut lines formed by a laser beam. At the central point, the packaging film is very easily punctured, since the middle layer 5 of the film has a reduced thickness at the central point and at the radial lines. When piercing the drinking straw, the puncture hole is defined widened outwards. This widening of the puncture hole is facilitated by the radial cutting lines, since the middle layer 5 of the packaging film 2 also has a reduced thickness at these lines.

Since the outer layer 4 of the packaging film 2 is preferably made of PET and the middle layer 5 is preferably made of aluminum, the consumer can see the puncture site 3 with the naked eye very well, since the exposed aluminum surface of the middle layer 5 in the region of the puncture site optically very clearly different from the PET surface of the outer layer 4 surrounding the puncture site.
