Description
Mass transit vehicle chair
The subject of the invention is a mass transit vehicle chair, to be used in buses, vans and other mass transit vehicles requiring the folding of both single and double chairs in parallel to the sidewall of the vehicle.
In mass transit vehicles, especially in long-distance buses, as well as in buses and vans there is a requirement to transport oversized loads, such as wheelchairs, bicycles or non-standard luggage. These loads will not fit into the bus' luggage space. It is necessary to assign a space for these loads in the passenger space.
One of the possibilities is the removal of a group of chairs.
This solution is labour absorbing and requires the storage of removed chairs outside of the vehicle.
In known solutions, the chair frame is mounted rotating on a bolt and supported on a bracket on a retainer. In one of the solutions, the frame
bracket is permanently connected to a retainer in a manner that allows for separating it.
In order to place the chair approximately in parallel to the vehicle wall, after folding the backrest the frame support is disconnected from the retainer and the chair is rotated on a bolt on its axis.
When changing the position of the chair, these solutions require complicated and time-consuming operations during the installation and removal and locking of the chair in the new position, and the play present in the connections is a source of sounds, which reduce the comfort of the travel.
Solutions are known, in which the support is mounted in a sliding manner to the elements of the chair frame and/or retainers.
These solutions, due to the use of sliding connections, have a special tendency to generate vibrations in the structure.
This problem was solved using a solution described in the Polish patent PL 204710. The chairs were mounted on a swinging frame. On this frame, after the backrest is folded parallel to the seat the set of chairs is moved to a position approximately vertical next to the vehicle wall.
In order to achieve that, the chair should be rotated on a complex set of supports, which form the kinematic system of this mechanism. This requires significant physical effort. Besides, after placing the chairs vertically, on the outside the visible chair mechanisms remain, which may negatively affect the passengers, for example damaging their clothes or cuts.
In mass transit vehicles, especially stagecoaches, buses or vans it is necessary to transport handicapped people, especially without fully functioning legs. These persons should be in their wheelchairs in the vehicle. There is a problem of assigning a space for wheelchairs in a bus.
The problem is carrying a wheelchair into the vehicle.
In order to solve this problem, in the zone of at least one doors in the vehicle a lift is installed, which enables the raising of an occupied wheelchair to the level of the vehicle floor and further on, moving the
wheelchair inside, to a previously prepared place. Within the area of these doors space in the bus is required in order to be able to move the wheelchair around.
In the zone of doors with the lift, a chair or a set of chairs may not be mounted to the wall. During the normal operation of the vehicle, since it is necessary to save space for moving the wheelchair around, two seating spaces for passengers are removed, which causes a loss for the carrier.
The presented solution eliminates the abovementioned drawbacks and inconveniences.
The essence of the invention, which is a mass transit vehicle chair with a frame mounted seat and backrest, consists of a seat frame mounted rotationally on a bolt which is mounted rotationally on the vehicle floor and side structure, on a retaining bolt, and on a retainer bolt, mounted rotationally on a bolt, which is placed on the vehicle side structure or on a vertical support, also the backrest is placed on an articulated joint with a 135° freedom of movement.
It is advantageous, when the side structure is the vehicle sidewall.
It is also advantageous, when the side structure is the frame structure of vehicle doors, in the zone of which the lift is located.
It is also advantageous, when the chair is equipped with a support and frame movement lock.
It is also advantageous, when the chair in the zone of the articulated joint of the backrest has a backrest inclination lock.
It is especially advantageous, when the frame-mounting bolt is mounted on the frame in the zone of the chairs centre of gravity.
The use of the solution presented in the invention enables the following technical and utility effects:
- the ability to quickly change the position of the chair from the operational position to an approximately vertical position,
- the ability to obtain an additional area of the vehicle floor, intended for a wheelchair, bicycle, oversized luggage etc., through a change in the position of the chair,
- reducing the force necessary to move the chair due to the placement of one of the supports of the chair frame approximately at the centre of gravity.
- after moving to the vertical position, the external surface is a highly aesthetic external wall of the backrest covering the sharp components of the mounting mechanism,
- the ability to obtain additional two seats in the vehicle, interchangeably with the additional place for a wheelchair,
- allowing handicapped on wheelchairs access to the bus,
- creating a vehicle which is handicapped-friendly,
- permanent and reliable connection of the elements of the chair rotating mechanism,
- eliminating the possibility of play arising between the connections,
- eliminating the possibility of vibrations, and thus sounds uncomfortable to humans arising during travel and reducing the convenience of travel,
- eliminating the issue of the chair self-locking in a closed position,
- permanent and sure locking of the chair in the operational position, and in a closed position,
- achieving self-latching of the chair position, both when raising the chair to a closed position and when changing back to the operational position,
- the ability to use the mechanism both for a unit of chairs and for a singular chair.
- easy and rapid unlocking of the chair and change of its position, without requiring of physical effort,
- the construction is technologically simple to manufacture.
The subject of the invention in a sample implementation was shown in a view, where on fig. 1 the chair is presented in a horizontal projection onto a vertical plane from the front in the operational position, on fig. 2 the chair is presented in a horizontal projection onto a vertical plane from the side in the operational position, on fig. 3 the mounting and rotation mechanism of the chair is presented, on fig. 4 the mounting support is presented, on fig. 5 the chair is presented in the movement phase, on fig. 6 the chair is presented mounted on the doors of a vehicle in an operational position, on
fig. 7 the chair is presented mounted on the doors of a vehicle in a folded position, and on fig. 8 the chair is presented folded when the vehicle doors are open.
Seat 1 of the chair is mounted in a known method on the frame 2. The frame 2 is mounted on one side rotationaliy on bolt 3 on support 4. The opposite end of the support 4 is mounted rotationaliy on the bolt 5 in the lower zone of the support 6, mounted on the vehicle sidewall. The bolt 3 is placed near the chair centre of gravity. Frame 2 is also mounted rotationaliy on the bolt 7 of the support 8. The opposite end of the support 8 is mounted on the bolt 9 in the upper zone of the support 6. The backrest 10 of the chair is mounted rotationaliy on the bolt JJ_, which can incline in relation to the seat I by a 135° angle.
There are versions where the seat has a headrest J_2 placed on an articulated joint 13, which allows the headrest \2 to rotate forward by a 90° angle.
For the stabilisation of reciprocal locations, the chair has a support 8 and frame 2 movement lock and in the backrest J_0 rotation articulated joint 1 1 zone has a backrest 10 inclination lock, not shown on the drawing.
When it is necessary to increase the baggage space in the bus space, firstly, in the version with articulated headrests 12 the headrests J_2 are set approximately in parallel to the seat L Then the backrest K) is unlocked and folded approximately parallel to the seat 1. Headrest \ 2 is located in the space between the seat and the backrest of the previous chair. The support 4 is then unlocked and by pressing the front zone of the chair the supports 4 and 8 rotate around the bolts and raise the external zone of the chairs upwards, until an approximately vertical position is obtained.
Returning to the operational position is achieved by pulling to the middle of the lower, border part of the chair. A movement reverse to the movement used for folding will occur.
A special case of this solution is a chair mounted on the vehicle doors, in order to enable entrance of a wheelchair by a lift J_5 located within the zone of the doors 14.
Vertical support 6 of the mounting of the frame 2 bolt 5, 9 is mounted on a frame structure of the doors 14, in the zone of which the lift J_5 is mounted, and on the lower lock, located on the floor 16 in the zone of the doors 14.
In the operational position, the chair located in the zone of the doors j_4 at the lift j_5 is unfolded and its seats 1 have an approximately horizontal position, and the backrests 10 approximately vertical.
In the case when it is necessary to use the doors in order to start the lift and enter a wheelchair into the vehicle, not shown on the drawing, the chair is folded so that the headrests J_2 are set approximately parallel to the seat 1. Then the backrest Π) is unlocked and folded approximately parallel to the seats 1. Then the chair is rotated in the known manner on the supports in order to obtain a position next to the wall.
In this position, it is possible to open the doors 14 of the vehicle. The chairs are placed on the external side of the vehicle, on the open doors 14. It is possible to start the lift j_5 and raise the wheelchair up to the level of the floor 16 of the vehicle, and from the lift platform, the wheelchair rolls into the vehicle.
After the wheelchair or wheelchairs are raised up into the vehicle, the doors J_4 are closed. Depending on needs, the chair will be left in a closed or open position.
