Abstract

A filter (1) has a conical outer wall (3) of which the end having the smaller diameter forms a mouthpiece (5) and the other end a suction piece (7). Within the outer wall there is an inner wall 9 which also has a conical shape and whose end 11 having the larger diameter is connected to the mouthpiece (5) while the other end (13) is present near the suction piece (7). The conical shape of the inner wall provides that the current of air is optimised. The suction piece (7) comprises a cover grid (15) of which the middle section is closed and is present distal from the end (13) of the inner wall. Between the inner wall (9) and the outer wall (3) there is a receiving reservoir (19) where the redundant particles of tobacco/weed/dust (21) end up in. Between this end (13) and the middle section (17) of the cover grid there is an opening (23) which is connected in straight lines (15) to the suction openings (27) in the suction piece (7).

DESCRIPTION
Field of the invention.
The invention relates to a filter for a cigarette or joint, comprising an outer wall of which one end forms a mouthpiece and the other end a suction piece provided with suction openings and within which at least one inner wall is present, which inner wall has a conical shape and with a first end having the larger diameter is connected to the mouthpiece and with the other, second end having the smaller diameter is present near the suction piece, which suction piece comprises a cover grid whose middle section is closed and is present distal from the second end of the inner wall, with a receiving reservoir being present between the inner wall and the outer wall .
The filter is introduced in that part of the cigarette or joint that is put to the mouth and is to prevent particles of tobacco or weed coming into the mouth or throat. As a result of the conical inner wall there is less need to suck the filter hard, so that the cigarette or joint is smoked more easily and inhalation can take place in a better and simpler way. As a result, the smoking of a cigarette or joint rolled with the filter is more enjoyable to the user.
State of the art.
A filter of this type is known from US 2 520 307 A. This known filter is affixed to a cigarette or joint in lieu of rolled therein. In the known filter a partition is present between the suction openings and the opening at the second end of the inner wall, as a result of which the suction openings are connected to the opening at the second end of the inner wall via an elongated channel. During use tar that is present in the sucked-in smoke is deposited against the side walls of the channel and particles of tobacco and weed are received in the receiving reservoir. In this way not only particles of tobacco and weed are removed from the smoke, but the tar as well, so that the taste and effect of the smoke is diminished.
From US 2 045 601 A is known a filter that is to be put over the mouthpiece of a cigarette or joint. The inner wall is inserted into the tobacco or weed. In front of the opening at the second end of the inner wall there is no closed section so that tiny particles of tobacco or weed can be sucked in directly through this opening.
From GB 191004383 is known a filter that is obtained by rolling up a piece of carton. The cigarette paper is rolled around the mixture of tobacco and weed and the filter is affixed to the end. This filter provides that the complete joint can be smoked to the end without one burning one's lips. Furthermore, the filter stops tiny tobacco and weed particles coming through.
Summary of the invention.
It is an object of the invention to provide a filter of the type defined in the opening paragraph with which the smoke retains more its taste and strength than with the known filter, whereas yet the particles of tobacco and weed are removed from the smoke. For this purpose the filter according to the invention is characterised in that the opening between the second end of the inner wall and the suction piece is connected in straight or substantially straight lines to the suction openings in the suction piece. There is no partition present between the opening in the inner wall and the suction openings, so that these openings are directly connected to each other. The result of this is that the smoke retains the tar, whereas yet small particles of tobacco and weed contained in the smoke are removed from the smoke.
An embodiment of the filter according to the invention is characterised in that the outer wall also has a conical shape with the mouthpiece having the smaller diameter and the suction piece having the larger diameter.
For a still further improvement of the current of air, a further embodiment of the filter according to the invention is characterised in that between the second end of the inner wall and the middle section of the cover grid there is a partition which is provided with holes forming the opening mentioned above.
Brief description of the drawings. The following description relating to the appended drawings, the whole given by way of non-limiting example of the filter according to the invention, will provide better understanding of how the invention can be realized, in which:
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section of a first embodiment of the filter;
Fig. 2 shows a perspective view of the filter shown in Fig. 1 ; Fig. 3 shows the filter shown in Fig. 1 seen on the cover grid; and
Fig. 4 shows a longitudinal section of a second embodiment of the filter.
Detailed description of the drawings.
Figs. 1, 2 and 3 show a first embodiment of the filter according to the invention represented in longitudinal section, in a perspective view and in side elevation, respectively. The filter 1 has a conical outer wall 3 of which the end having the smaller diameter forms a mouthpiece 5 and the end having the larger diameter forms a suction piece 7. Within the outer wall 3 there is an inner wall 9 which also has a conical shape. From this inner wall 9 a first end 11, having the larger diameter, is connected to the mouthpiece 5 while the other, second end 13, having the smaller diameter, is present near the suction piece 7. As a result of the conical shape of the inner wall 9 the current of air is optimised so that one needs to draw less hard on the filter.
The suction piece 7 has a cover grid 15 of which the middle section 17 is closed and is present distal from the second end 13 of the inner wall 9. Between the inner wall 9 and the outer wall 3 there is a receiving reservoir 19 where the redundant particles of tobacco/weed/dust 21 end up in. There is an opening 23 between the second end 13 of the inner wall and the middle section 17 of the cover grid. Thanks to the cover grid 15 and the receiving reservoir 19 it is impossible to have small particles of tobacco/weed/dust ending up in one's mouth or throat. The opening 23 is in direct connection with the suction openings 27 in the suction piece 7 where the smoke can flow in straight lines 25 from the openings 23 to suction openings 27.
Fig. 4 shows a second embodiment of the filter according to the invention. In this filter 31 a partition 33 provided with holes 35 is present between the second end 13 of the inner wall 9 and the middle section 17 of the cover grid 1 .
Albeit in the foregoing disclosure the invention has been explained with reference to the drawing figures, it should be pointed out that the invention is by no means restricted to the embodiments shown in the drawing figures. The invention also pertains to all embodiments deviating from the embodiments shown in the drawing figures within the spirit and scope defined by the claims.

Claims

CLAIMS:
1. A filter (1; 31) for a cigarette or joint, comprising an outer wall (3) of which one end forms a mouthpiece (5) and the other end a suction piece (7) provided with suction openings and within which at least one inner wall (9) is present, which inner wall has a conical shape and with a first end (1 1) having the larger diameter is connected to the mouthpiece (5) and with the other, second end (13) having the smaller diameter is present near the suction piece (7), which suction piece comprises a cover grid (15) whose middle section (17) is closed and is present distal from the second end (13) of the inner wall (9), with a receiving reservoir (19) being present between the inner wall and the outer wall (3), characterised in that the opening (23) between the second end (13) of the inner wall (9) and the suction piece (7) is connected in straight or substantially straight lines (25) to the suction openings (27) in the suction piece (7).
2. A filter (1; 31) as claimed in claim 1, characterised in that the outer wall (3) also has a conical shape with the mouthpiece (5) having the smaller diameter and the suction piece (7) having the larger diameter.
3. A filter (31) as claimed in claim 1 or 2, characterised in that between the second end (13) of the inner wall (9) and the middle section (17) of the cover grid (15) there is a partition (33) which is provided with holes (35) forming the opening (23) mentioned above.
