Abstract

The method involves machining a V-shaped groove, along a folding line (P), on a thick metal sheet (1) of a mechanically welded structure, where the groove is defined by two intersecting lateral planes (2a, 2b). A recess (3) widening the bottom of the groove is machined, where the recess comprises a bulge (3c) at the bottom of the groove. The thick metal sheet of the structure is folded along the folding line such that the intersecting planes are supported on one another.
