Ein sehr bekanntes Beispiel für ein derartiges Münzschloss, anhand dessen die Erfindung erläutert wird, wobei sich die Erfindung nicht auf dieses Beispiel beschränkt, sind Einkaufswagen. Um einen Einkaufswagen für die Dauer des Einkaufs nutzen zu können, ist mittlerweile bei den meisten ein Münzschloss vorgesehen, in das der Benutzer zu Beginn des Einkaufs eine Münze einführt. Die Münze löst dann in dem Münzschloss einen Mechanismus aus, so dass sich das Schloss öffnet und der Benutzer den Einkaufswagen nutzen kann. Nach Beendigung des Einkaufs kann der Benutzer den Einkaufswagen zu einem Sammelpunkt bringen und diesen dort wieder anschließen, woraufhin er seine Münze wieder zurückerhält. Üblicherweise werden hierfür 1- oder 2-EURO-Münzen verwendet, grundsätzlich sind jedoch auch andere Größen denkbar.Such coin locks are based on the deposit system and are nowadays common. Auf diese Weise kann der Benutzer das Münzschloss öffnen, den Einkaufswagen benutzen und diesen anschließend wieder mittels des Münzschlosses an der Sammelstelle befestigen, ohne das die Gefahr besteht, dass der Benutzer die Vorrichtung in dem Münzschloss vergisst. Vorteilhafterweise ist die Betätigungseinrichtung zusätzlich oder alternativ in einem Winkel zu der kreisscheibenförmigen Grundform angeordnet.
