Muldenmangeln verfügen über mindestens eine drehend antreibbare Mangelwalze (22), deren untere Hälfte von einer ortsfesten Mangelmulde umgeben ist. Die Mangelwalze (22) ist von einer äußeren Bewicklung (29) umgeben, die mit dem zu behandelnden Wäschestück in Kontakt kommt. Die Bewicklung (29) muss eine Oberfläche mit einem möglichst großen Reibwert aufweisen, damit eine zuverlässige Mitnahme des Wäschestücks durch die drehende Mangelwalze (22) gewährleistet ist.
