Definitions
- Offset printing presses having two printing units which print one after the other on a paper web, each printing unit printing with a different color.
- the upstream printing unit delivers the paper uniformly over its width, while the downstream printing unit delivers more paper at the lateral edges than at the center.
- the paper web is tighter on the side edges and the dots to be printed by the downstream print unit are printed in advance of the center of the web.
- This printing defect is indicated on the Figure 11 .
- the image to be printed by each printing unit is a straight line extending across the width of the strip.
- the printed color C1 is that of the upstream printing unit and is rectilinear.
- the printed color C2 is that of the downstream printing unit and it can be seen that the image is deformed with the lateral portions forward.
- the upstream print unit delivers more paper at the edges, while the downstream print unit delivers uniformly.
- the points to be printed by the downstream printing unit are printed late on the edges with respect to the center of the strip.
- the upstream printing unit delivers uniformly and the downstream printing unit debit less on the edges.
- This last case is represented on the Figure 12 .
- the image printed by the upstream printing unit is rectilinear while the image printed by the downstream printing unit is late on the side edges.
- the Figure 13 shows another type of defect, in the case where a first part of a blanket situated at a distance from the edge and of the median line delivers more and a second part of a blanket situated at a distance from the edge and the center line delivers less than the directly adjacent parts of those parts.
- the printing defect is therefore a defect in the form of "zigzag".
- the object of the invention is to propose a printing press which has an improved print quality and which makes it possible to reduce or even eliminate the "chevron" effect described above with respect to known presses, and this of preference with simple and economical means.
- the invention relates to a printing assembly of the type indicated above, characterized in that the printing assembly comprises compensation means having at least two different deflection members, each deflection member defining a compensation path between the two upstream and downstream printing units and this for a partial band of the band to be printed, and that each compensation path is longer than a neutral path for a neutral portion of the band to be printed.
- the subject of the invention is also a use of an assembly as defined above, in order to correct an increasing longitudinal shift from a central part of the band to be printed to the two edges of the two-image printing band. printed successively by the upstream and downstream printing unit.
- the figure 1 shows a top view of a printing press according to the invention, designated by the general reference 2.
- the printing press 2 is an offset printing press.
- the printing press 2 comprises a printing unit 4 which is provided with an upstream printing unit 6 and a downstream printing unit 8.
- Each of the printing units 6, 8 comprises two printing units provided with a plate cylinder 10 and a blanket cylinder 12.
- one of the plate cylinders per printing unit can be omitted and the Blanket cylinder 12 of this printing unit therefore functions as a backpressure cylinder.
- Each plate cylinder 10 has an axis of rotation ACP and each blanket cylinder 12 has an axis of rotation ACB.
- the upstream printing unit 6 and the downstream printing unit 8 are adapted to successively print one after the other on a print tape 14 over a printing width LI.
- the print width LI is divided into two half printing widths LD. Each half-width of printing is limited by one of two lateral edges BB (see below).
- Each printing unit 6, 8 defines a printing gap 16 through which the printing web 14 passes.
- Each printing gap 16 is defined by the two blanket cylinders 12.
- the two printing interstices 12 define a P-P gap plane passing through the two interstices.
- the two printing units 6, 8 also define a median line M-M which extends in a median plane of the two units and in the interplanar plane P-P.
- the print tape 14 has a width LB which is slightly larger than the printing width LI.
- the print assembly 4 defines a path of the print tape 14 extending from the upstream printing unit 6 to the downstream printing unit 8 along a path direction T.
- the print tape 14 has a central portion 18, a plurality of partial strips 20 and is delimited by two lateral edges BB.
- the partial strips 20 extend laterally to the central portion 18.
- the central portion 18 is for example a portion extending between two printed images, but may have a lateral dimension of "0".
- central portion 18 and the partial strips 20 are parts of the same print band 14, the print band 14 being continuous over its entire width. Partial bands are therefore "virtual" bands.
- 4 for the print tape 14 defines a plurality of paths extending between the print units 6, 8. Each path is the path traveled by an imaginary point on the print tape 14 between the two print units. printing 6, 8.
- the printing press comprises compensation means 30 defining compensation paths of the band to be printed, for example TCO1, TCO2, TCO3, TCO4, between the two upstream and downstream printing units 6.
- the central portion 18 defines a central TCE path that is shown at the figure 2 .
- the compensation paths are longer than the central path TCE of the central portion 18 of the band.
- the central path is a free-hanging path of the central portion 18 of the band to be printed between the two upstream printing units 6 and 8 downstream.
- the central path is therefore a neutral path and the portion 18 is a neutral portion.
- the free suspension path coincides with the interstice plane PP.
- the neutral path may be at different locations from the central path.
- the compensation means 30 comprise a deflection element 32 adapted to come into contact with the band to be printed in order to deflect the desired parts of this band.
- the deflection element 32 defines the compensation paths TCO1, TCO2, TCO3, TCO4.
- the compensation paths TCO1, TCO2 are associated with a first of the half printing widths LD and the compensation paths TCO3, TCO4 are associated one second with the half printing widths LD.
- the deflection element 32 is an assembly of several deflection members 36. Each deflection member 36 extends over a portion of the width of the print tape 14 or print width. Each deflection member 36 is adapted to deflect the associated partial band 20 of the print tape to define one or more of the compensation paths. In this case, each of the deflection members 36 extends over a width substantially the same as the width of an image to be printed, a page to be printed or a printing plate.
- each of the deflection members 36 is a deflection bar.
- the deflection element 32 comprises four deflection members.
- Each deflection member 36 is a separate part from the other deflection members.
- Each deflection member 36 is movable in translation perpendicularly with respect to the interstice plane PP, and this independently of all the other deflection members 36.
- each deflection member 36 is movable in translation along a direction having a perpendicular component in the plane PP, and this independently of all the other deflection members 36.
- each deflection member 36 is movable in inclination with respect to the interplanar plane P-P and in particular rotatable about an inclination axis AI (cf.
- the compensation means 30 comprise, for each deflection member 36, two support members 40. Each end of each deflection member 36 is attached to one of the two support members 40 Each element 40 is displaceable perpendicular to the gap plane PP independently of all the other support elements 40. The connection between the support element 40 and the associated end is obtained by an articulated joint whose axis is perpendicular to the median line MM.
- the compensation means 30 also comprise, for each deflection member 36, two actuators 42 adapted to move one or both of the support members 40 as a function of a control signal. There are two supports 40 per deflection member 36, thus two actuators 42 per deflection member 36.
- the assembly 4 also comprises a control device 50.
- the control device 50 comprises, for each partial band 20 or compensation path TCO1 to TCO4, a sensor 54 adapted to determine the longitudinal difference between an image printed by the unit. 4 and the image printed by the downstream printing unit 6 on the partial band or the associated compensation path.
- the longitudinal differences are read for all the colors downstream of the printing unit furthest downstream.
- a sensor 54 is arranged in partial strip 20 on each side of the strip and the measurement is made on the front and back of each partial strip and an average is calculated of the two deviation values determined for each partial strip 20.
- the control device 50 also comprises an evaluation and control unit which is adapted to send a control signal to the actuators 42 associated with the partial band 20 or to the compensation path and to move the deflection member 36 of such so that the longitudinal gap is decreased.

These printing presses create a printing defect known as "chevron" which consists of not exactly superimposing all the colors to produce the same colored dot in the direction of paper scrolling both in the center of the strip and at the ends.

It should be noted that the
In other configurations of compensation means 30, the neutral path may be at different locations from the central path.
The compensation paths TCO1, TCO2 are associated with a first of the half printing widths LD and the compensation paths TCO3, TCO4 are associated one second with the half printing widths LD.

The
In this case, each of the
Each
In order to obtain mobility in translation and in inclination, the compensation means 30 comprise, for each
The compensation means 30 also comprise, for each
The
The
Each of the

In addition, the compensating paths on the first half-width of printing are offset from a plane parallel to, or coincident with, the gap plane (P1-P1) in a first direction and compensation on the second half-width of printing are offset from this plane in a second direction opposite the first direction.
As a variant, the compensation paths on the first half-width of printing are offset by a plane parallel to the plane of gap (P1-P1), or coinciding with this plane, in a first direction and the paths of compensation on the second half-width of printing are offset from this plane in the same direction.
In another variant, each

The compensation means 30 comprise, for at least one
